Well I have 2 bee hives and I post a blog about my bee’s every two weeks on facebook in which a lot of Arenanet follows. Also we have a good 20 bee hives on the roof of our building so I while we could be doing more but we are fighting that decline!

This is a very nice change but what is ArenaNet going to do about the declining bee population?

Well I have 2 bee hives and I post a blog about my bee’s every two weeks on facebook in which a lot of Arenanet follows. Also we have a good 20 bee hives on the roof of our building so I while we could be doing more but we are fighting that decline!

Can we have a bee awareness day? Where we have bee colored golems and AC’s drop bee’s instead of Arrows on people?

When the August 8th update is released, WvW and PvP players who own Heart of Thorns will be able to upgrade their WvW and PvP ascended armor to have legendary attributes! This new type of armor will not have a unique skin, such as the one that is part of the raids legendary armor, but instead will consist of an upgrade to WvW and PvP ascended armor that gives those armor pieces legendary stat-swapping capabilities without changing the skin.
The following PvP and WvW ascended armor can be upgraded to allow stat swapping:
• Triumphant Hero’s Ascended Armor
• Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s Ascended Armor
• Ardent Glorious Ascended Armor
• Glorious Hero Ascended Armor
To upgrade a piece of WvW or PvP ascended armor, combine 3 new PvP or WvW gifts with 1 piece of ascended gear in the Mystic Forge. You can purchase ingredients for the gifts from either Commander War Razor in WvW or the Ascended Armor League Vendor in PvP.

No amount of words can express how amazing this is.

Hey Grant and McKenna, that’s great news.

Just one quick question: If you bought the Exotic version of the WvW Triumphant Hero’s Armor and transmuted another piece of regular Ascended armor with the skins, are you able to convert it to legendary armor?

Because the cost of tickets to get the Exotic version is the same of the Ascended and a lot of people (myself included) already bought the Exotic version just to unlock the skins and transmuted other Ascended pieces to it.

You cannot upgrade the exotic into ascended or legendary. You will need to purchase the ascended gear.

What if you transmuted the ascended armor, will that work?

Yes! Transmuted will work.

What about transmuted reforged armor?

Reforged armor does not work.

Thanks for Ruining it… Next time you make Precursors Reforgeable, tell us before we are gonna regret reforging it, thanks.

Why would we need that? Provisioner tokens are PVE content. This is wvw and pvp related. So why should we have to grind a bunch of mind numbing pve events to get wvw armor? makes zero sense. What’s with you pvers constantly trying to force us to do pve? How would you feel if in order to do the new living story you had to reach rank 2k in wvw? Stop trying to force people into content that you like that they dont want to do. Just because you enjoy pve doesn’t mean everyone does.

The pvp and wvw versions shouldnt require any pve involvement at all. WE DO NOT WANT TO PLAY PVE. When will you people understand that? If we liked pve, we could have just done raids to get armor.

When I and many others like me spent time and money crating multiple sets of the same weight of ascended armor and THEN they introduced MF stat swapping…that wasn’t really fair, but it happened.

Sure, it made it easier from there on out to theorycraft and I have no complaints now, but at the time there were still people that only crafted 1 set were I crafted 3 and we all got the same end result.

This, isn’t that and it doesn’t need to be harder for wvwers to add functionality to their armor that isn’t really going to be legendary (in terms of flash) when it’s all said and done.

I think the gifts and forge route should be involved with getting the T2 level of ascended to legendary status.

However, the T3 WvW armor should be legendary right from the vendor.

T3 armor is to easy to get to be legendary. A lot of ppl already have the body i got it a few weeks ago. I like to know if T2 ascended can become legendary too? If not that ok legendary should be a long view goal not an over night thing.

You’re still 11-12 weeks away from getting all T3. That’s 5 months total to get a set of T3.

And yes…the whole point is the fact that T2 ascended can become legendary with the gifts. The T3 is double the effort, which is why I’m saying it should not need the gifts to become legendary. It should be legendary on purchase.

You only need some of the major bits to make builds such as getting the big 3 body head and legs out side of them you can fill in with ascended level armor. Its realty not that much more to get the T3 set. You do know you can jump from the T2 skin to the T3 skin of the same armor part with out getting all of the T2 first?

Let’s not fight this PvE vs. WvW nonsense, I play both PvP and PvE, just mostly only one thing in every game (either just PvE or PvP), and certainly both types have skilled players, new players and bad players (whatever is that).

WvW here has & had, amazing players, who fully earned, multiple times, the right to wear full legendary sets; because their fight mastery – real “legends” of PvP; but they never cared about such rewards. Playing well and improving is the greatest satisfaction, all is needed are good enemies and a context that allows fun fights.

The sad thing is that many players in WvW aren’t “required” to improve, they are “rewarded” for being carried by others, or just by being afk there, and even when they are working against their team. Would be nice to have the luxury to just kick them, as the PvE raid can – I mean about those who really, really don’t care at all.

WvW needed from start a system such as sPvP has, regarding gear (except the normalized amulets). This legendary armor won’t solve that need, very few will get it, and in most cases not the best players. Reward is based on grind here in GW2, as in “effort” and time wasted, or savored — but not skill, very rarely is any “skill” involved.

I’m not hiding the fact that i am salty… but you seem to believe that it’s about
me (or ALL other raiders) not wanting other game modes to have legendary armor.
I’m all for that (even though pvp doesn’t even need it but what ever).

It’s about the means of aquisation. Up until now legendary armors (the raid armor, pvp wings, fractal wings) were only aquireable if you actually win stuff in your game mode.

I know we still don’t know how exactly the upgrading is going to happen so it might be too early to be salty…

The ascended armor is bought with tickets, which are gained through pip acquisition. Pip acquisition is gained through skirmish participation (at least T3) which is in turn earned through accomplishing WvW objectives. Taking towers, flipping camps, killing invaders, etc. Therefor tickets and the armor itself is gained through “winining” stuff or accomplishing objectives in the game mode.

As it will take the average player over a year or more to get it, not seeing how pve’rs can complain at all- there is a huge time gate wall behind tokens that you need for the wvw armors that doesn’t exist in raids.

I’m glad they have done this- at least eventually people will be able to stat swap, although for many it won’t really be possible, and blobby spam 1 t1 ‘heroes’ will be able to get it in a few weeks.

As for legendary armor for WvW I can understand but PvP it doesn’t make sense. In WvW you want to try out all kinds of builds as for PvP you are locked down in to the amulets system. I would think the reward system for each game mode would have a use for that game mode. I just dont see PvPers having a use for such a reward other then to brake ascended crafting that is a big part of the markets economy. WvW is just a bigger forum of PvP anyways. This PvP legendary set makes no sense to me.

On another note what about the people that have gotten these pieces of armor for the skins and salvaged them?

I don’t mind the idea of it taking quite a bit longer to grind out the wvw armor than the raid armor. The people who frequent wvw often to play the game, (read: not the people who attend wvw entirely for the rewards) won’t care. We’ll continue playing the game we enjoy, and as a bonus will eventually be rewarded for it.

Frankly, if it were easier (well, quicker) than the pve content all of the pve heroes would flood the maps looking for easy rewards, and those people tend to be the ones who ruin the experience for those who actually play the gamemode regularly.

Try to remember. Most of the toxicity comes from lower experience and entitled pve & pvp heroes who step into wvw and tell us about how garbage our gamemode is (for one reason or another). These are the people who grief supply, tactics, screw up squad supply counts, run useless builds, do little to improve map politics (scouting, escorting etc), take up que spots, don’t stay on tag and do little more in actual combat than rally the enemy.

Frankly I’m all for them sticking to raids. Though I guess this won’t be a popular opinion as it goes against the idea of getting more people to play wvw.

edit- Okay, that might have sounded slightly more cynical than intended. Not all new players to the gamemode are part of this group of “entitled pve & pvp heroes”. Some legitimately want to learn and participate, and props to them.

The wvw one i believe is incredibly time gated. First the hours you need to play to get diamont in a week and then the actual amount of tickets you get.

In a best-case scenario it will take you 7h 10m a week(not included outnumbered) , and worst case scenario 60h 25m a week. IDK where are the majority of players sits in this, but for me I get on average 6 pips a tick so I need to play around 3h a day of WvW to hit diamond each week. So you really do need to put some time in to getting this armor. Also with the last 2 chest containing 75 tickets if you don’t cap out every week you drastically increase the amount of time it takes.

People who raid need to stop complaining. Both the WvW legendary armor AND backpack require tickets. This means that people who only play WvW can only work on one or the other. If you want pve legendaries, you can raid and do fractals and work towards both at the same time.

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve reforged probably 1.5 sets of ardent glorious into standard ascended armor. I cried a little as I was making the recipes for the PvP versions.

Unfortunately, when you mystic forge an item, you’re getting a completely new item. The system doesn’t know that the new ascended piece used to be something else.

This doesn’t make any sense to me. Why does the stat allocation matter when the item states, “Transmute: Ardent Glorious Plate Helm”, for instance. This seems like a flawed thinking in how you’re pushing our legendary armor to WvW/PvPers. And if you already knew this to be the case then what’s the thought process on reacquiring the same gear we’ve already had?

If your “Transmuted” item says “Ardent Glorious Plate Helm” it means you only changed the skin on the item, not reforged it in the Mystic Forge and it will be upgradable. When you reforge the stats in the MF, that item name changes to like “Transmuted: Yassith’s Breastplate” and that would not be upgradable.

The same thing happens with the ascended weapons that came with HoT specializations. I reforged Yldalir and now it says “Transmuted: Yassith’s Greatbow” and the skin is Arbiter Greatbow so I technically don’t have a Yldalir item anymore on my account.

No kidding, and when I look at this thread in conjunction with the PiP thread, I see hoards of complaints on the time it takes to acquire tickets. Apparently when raids came out, some people had the legendary in the first day!

No PvE person should be complaining about this at all, if anything, it’s weighted towards raids being the easy mode towards the path of a legendary. The time to acquire this armor in WvW is insane, and that’s even for vets; imagine a newbie joining WvW how long it’d take them.

It’s easy to compare, take a group noobs to raids and figure how long it’d take them to acquire the legendary. As I said, some people had it in the first day. Once they’ve figured out the boss fights, it should be relatively easy for them take down the bosses 90% of the time on each encounter.

Take that same group of noobs now and stick them in WvW. There are far more factors at play dictating their path towards a legendary:

- How long will it take them to figure out the best builds and composition
- Are they naturally good in a PvP style environment or is there a big learning curve
- Are they facing another group with better composition and are simply just better
- Is the other group simply bigger, takes all their stuff, then prevents them from retaking (no participation)
- Does the other group spawn camp them because they are simply bored and find them as easy targets
- Are you getting double teamed
- Time requirements, especially for someone new to WvW (hence the other PiP thread and all the complaints)

What PvE’ers have to realize it’s simply not a case of following a zerg and pressing 1 (well maybe if they are on BG), but the rest of the servers, forget it. A smaller coordinated group who knows what they’re doing will annihilate a bigger zerg group pressing 1 whom doesn’t know what they are doing.

There are far too many factors at play affecting progress, and it wouldn’t matter how skilled they are.

The weapons work the same too, it’s a bit odd. For instance I got Glints Bastion through HOT and forge changed the stats on it, then afterwards changed the skin back to Glints Bastion (because it’s cute), But, even though it was Glints Bastion in the beginning and essentially is now, it still says Transmuted X stat type Shield.

The odd thing is when you use the forge method to change weapon stats you unlock those Generic ascended weapon skins as well, so you don’t have to craft those items specifically for the skins. Not sure if that is intended or not, or if that method also helped people unlock as ended armor skins as well, but, if it did, you can view it as atleast a little extra something you got for free.

Let’s say we got the PvP pieces but we transmuted the look of it. Will it still count as ascended pieces needed to transmute into Legendary Gear?

Around 2 months ye. Around 4 hours per week in a semi decent group.

And that’s why Raid armor is easy mode legendary……….

Unlike the wvw armor the pve one require the basic iq check to obtain.

No kidding, and when I look at this thread in conjunction with the PiP thread, I see hoards of complaints on the time it takes to acquire tickets. Apparently when raids came out, some people had the legendary in the first day!

No PvE person should be complaining about this at all, if anything, it’s weighted towards raids being the easy mode towards the path of a legendary. The time to acquire this armor in WvW is insane, and that’s even for vets; imagine a newbie joining WvW how long it’d take them.

It’s easy to compare, take a group noobs to raids and figure how long it’d take them to acquire the legendary. As I said, some people had it in the first day. Once they’ve figured out the boss fights, it should be relatively easy for them take down the bosses 90% of the time on each encounter.

Take that same group of noobs now and stick them in WvW. There are far more factors at play dictating their path towards a legendary:

- How long will it take them to figure out the best builds and composition
- Are they naturally good in a PvP style environment or is there a big learning curve
- Are they facing another group with better composition and are simply just better
- Is the other group simply bigger, takes all their stuff, then prevents them from retaking (no participation)
- Does the other group spawn camp them because they are simply bored and find them as easy targets
- Are you getting double teamed
- Time requirements, especially for someone new to WvW (hence the other PiP thread and all the complaints)

What PvE’ers have to realize it’s simply not a case of following a zerg and pressing 1 (well maybe if they are on BG), but the rest of the servers, forget it. A smaller coordinated group who knows what they’re doing will annihilate a bigger zerg group pressing 1 whom doesn’t know what they are doing.

There are far too many factors at play affecting progress, and it wouldn’t matter how skilled they are.

The ppl that had the legendary armor in 1 days raided since release and thats a year+. For a game that requires not a whole lot of your time soending 20 hours per week in wvw is plain bad and demotivating.

Does anyone else find it incredibly hilarious that pvers were crying that the new wvw reward ascended was way too hard to acquire and are now crying that it’s all too easy?

I too am unable to distinguish between different people making different arguments.

There is a whole lot of attempted differentiation regarding WvW, but ultimately, none of what you listed is relevant in order to obtain legendary armor. This is because in both WvW and PvP, it is not required to “win” (or be successful in general) in order to obtain it. Yes, it will require more time when you perform poorly. Simple time-investment in a MMO means nothing, especially when you are playing a specific game-mode anyway. For WvW, legendary armor has been turned into an attendance reward. There is no need to ride that “but but facing other players” high horse because, ultimately, this doesn’t matter. You don’t have to perform well against them. You simply have to be there, that’s all.

Contrary to this, in raids you actually have to be successful. You actually have to beat the bosses. Yes, this can be done reliably by a somewhat capable player raiding in a somewhat capable group, but that kind of requirement is still far higher than anything WvW or even PvP currently requires of you. You don’t get rewarded in raids for “simply being there” or even failing, legendary armor in PvE is not a simple attendance reward you get after XY hours.

The question is not what kind of skill is required to perform well in any given game mode, the question is what kind of skill is required in order to obtain the rewards. For WvW, the answer is “none”. No player-skill-dependency whatsoever. And you now get legendary armor for it. This isn’t right.

It’s not right that some people craft Bifrost, where others just buy it off the tp, it doesn’t change the fact that both sets of players have the same item at the end.

Raid legendary armor and wvw/pvp legendary armor are not going to be the same items, simple as that, they may have the same functionality, but are not the same visually.

Go ahead, when this change takes effect, try and spot the wvw/pvp players whose armor has the drop down and which players don’t have the drop down. Then stand those guys next to a raider in full transforming glory and see who gets more OMGs.

LMAO – Legendary Armorer isn’t a freaking “raid achievement”. It’s an Explorer achievement. That fact would have be obvious to everyone if you hadn’t carefully cropped your image to avoid showing the left side of the achievement panel. Raids just happened to be the first way to acquire legendary armor. You’re not special in any way and doing raids won’t change that.

It is an explorer achievement but with a title related to the envoy armor set. Also it was probably added because people requested a way to show that they have 750 LI without posting all 3 armor sets in chat when joining raid groups. Letting the grind based WvW and pvp armors add to it would make it useless as a proof of raid experience.

The new armor will not progress the achievement.

Could we have our own achievements maybe? There is a lot of missed chances for WvW achievements and really a limited scope of available ones. Especially on some things that can be a lot of work to complete, including the recent changes.

This doesn’t make any sense to me. Why does the stat allocation matter when the item states, “Transmute: Ardent Glorious Plate Helm”, for instance. This seems like a flawed thinking in how you’re pushing our legendary armor to WvW/PvPers. And if you already knew this to be the case then what’s the thought process on reacquiring the same gear we’ve already had?

The item listed after “Transmuted” is considered the original item. If your “Transmuted” item says “Ardent Glorious Plate Helm” it means you only changed the skin on the item, not reforged it in the Mystic Forge and it will be upgradable. When you reforge the stats in the MF, that item name changes to like “Transmuted: Yassith’s Breastplate” and that would not be upgradable.

The same thing happens with the ascended weapons that came with HoT specializations. I reforged Yldalir and now it says “Transmuted: Yassith’s Greatbow” and the skin is Arbiter Greatbow so I technically don’t have a Yldalir item anymore on my account.

Transmuting can still be upgraded. Transmuting is only changing the skin. “Reforged”, which is where you change the stats after you had originally selected them(i.e. Changed from Dire to Viper), cannot be upgraded.

This is awesome, thank you. WvWers being able to change stats will be incredibly useful.

PVE raiders, relax. We are not getting new skins, and us being able to switch stat sets for roaming vs zerg fights (for instance) will in no way impact your PVE experience. Hardcore WvWers don’t even go in PVE, and people who try to cheese WvW to get the stat switchable armor will not get flashy skins to make your raid legendaries feel non-exclusive out in Tyria. This is purely something to increase the maneuverability of WvW builds. The people benefiting from this change benefit in a way that has zero to do with PVE concerns. It will make our game mode more strategic and fun and will not hurt you at all. We will get our switchable stats and run around murdering each other happily in the Borderlands without any thought of one upping PVE raiders. Everyone is winning here. PVE raiders get schmexy skins, WvW fighters get a strategic upgrade. Plus Plus, yes?

Well i don’t really need changeable stats, but it’s probably nice test some new builds that i wouldn’t test otherwise. Weapons will still be problem.

My hope is that they also allow the Mistforged ascended weapons to become upgradable to Legendary. I’ve no reason to think that they will, but it would be awesome.
