Why this upsets you that someone points out that the games World vs World ranking system is nothing more then a ranking based on Population I don’t know..

I thought this was well known by now.

Nobody has denied that rankings is population, the overall outcome is determined by population and that’s why maguuma is winning. Killjoy was never talking about the whole matchup, merely a snippet where she and four others took the east side of SBI bl without resistance whilst SBI had 10-15 players punching at SW tower, she is merely confused as to why the SBI players concerned chose SW tower over the east side of the bl is all. As a side note I think you also misunderstood the /laugh point, from what I read it’s more the confusion that the SBI defenders when eventually reacting on inner garrison /laugh’d at the maguuman invaders, an act of superiority over them. But the defenders had just lost their whole east side to those 5 who they /laugh’d at, showing a complete lack of superiority. I take the original post as a little bit of a lesson to check for ninja with a chest thumping agenda, but you know all about ninjas though right? (loved those videos friendopal)

But I was also confused by our response. I logged on in the middle of that and we only had 2-3 of us on TS that were responding to the ninja. The rest were pugs with tunnel vision on that tower I guess. Calls for defense were ignored. And we were slow to get eyes on where and how many there were.

We may have had more ppl on the map but we had very few ppl paying attention and trying to defend. It shouldn’t happen but it does.

I didn’t notice the emotes….didn’t come from those that were on TS I think….but that happens too. You can’t apply the attitude from some to a whole server. I certainly didn’t feel “superior” at that moment. But was relieved we finally responded enough to stop the ninja at Garrison at least. =/

When I’m roaming solo and I see a supply camp, I don’t try to take the camp so Mag gets a whole +5 points (if that capture even lasts until the point tick). I take it to try to draw enemies to the camp in order to gank some upleveled Rangers hopefully get an opportunity for a duel.

Her post was originally aimed at SBI because she went through a bunch of towers/keeps while I guess some people were over at another tower taking it, or doing god knows what…Then when they finally got to garrison, those SBI guys came up and wiped them and /laughed at her.

This of course set her off and she came to the thread to of course talk crap..

No, Kaineng was more populated than every server T3 and below. That’s besides his point though since we are more populated too

By the way that sounds like BS to me because Kaineng hit +510 on reset night. I remember this because we were outmanned on 2-3 maps by midnight server time. I find it very hard to believe our keeps were that fortified.

When I think about what occurred in thos 18 minutes the only thing I could come up with was “bystander effect”.

That commander from SBI that I wrote the poem for is one of the shining stars of the server. Someone please tell him I love him and his moxy.

Yeah, I was on SBI BL for awhile last night before we War Machined it. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve done small group activities and it was pretty fun. If you killed a terrible human engineer it was probably me!

Just to shed some more light on the situation that day. I was at garrison when the attacks came. The folks that were attacking the SW tower were following a commander tag I’m not familiar with. I don’t know if this was a new commander, or just one that doesn’t show as often during the times that I normally get to play, but I’m going to assume “new.” I was the engineer that liked to drop the mortar and use grenades from the wall, by the way.

Anyway, shortly after the garrison was saved, bay was under heavy attack. That particular commander de-tagged. I didn’t see any comment about leaving the game, taking tag off to take a break, or turn over to anyone else. I saw no communication in that regard. I also noticed that the person didn’t leave the map… so I’m very very confused as to why they would take off their tag during a time when we needed leadership most (get organized to defend a valuable capture point.) This is why I think “new” as mentioned before. There wasn’t a lot of organization or commanding going on that day while I was on

By the way, I don’t think laughing at your opponent is always meant as a bad thing. It happened to me just last night. I was in CDBL and saw a Maguuma necro headed for a tower and managed to burst him down to about 10% before he got inside. Next thing I know he’s up on the wall and laughs at me.

I could have taken that one of two very different ways:

The first way, “You suck and you couldn’t kill me LOL kitten” which would have made me angry…

or

The second way, “You suck and you couldn’t kill me LOL kitten” which made me laugh and /wave back…

The commander explained what happened, why it happened, why they were leaving, and even tried to rally someone else to take over. As I said, the entire point of being on SBI BL was because I was being petty about their actions on Mag BL. It was not a serious attempt and there wasn’t a bit of organization and very little communication. But if you were in mumble you would have heard the commander’s hesitation to go for garrison as it was fully upgraded and would require “effort.”

We may have had more ppl on the map but we had very few ppl paying attention and trying to defend. It shouldn’t happen but it does.

I don’t know if this was a new commander, or just one that doesn’t show as often during the times that I normally get to play, but I’m going to assume “new.” I was the engineer that liked to drop the mortar and use grenades from the wall, by the way.

Anyway, shortly after the garrison was saved, bay was under heavy attack. That particular commander de-tagged. I didn’t see any comment about leaving the game, taking tag off to take a break, or turn over to anyone else. I saw no communication in that regard. I also noticed that the person didn’t leave the map… so I’m very very confused as to why they would take off their tag during a time when we needed leadership most (get organized to defend a valuable capture point.) This is why I think “new” as mentioned before. There wasn’t a lot of organization or commanding going on that day while I was on

The commander explained what happened, why it happened, why they were leaving, and even tried to rally someone else to take over. It was not a serious attempt and there wasn’t a bit of organization and very little communication. No problem. I can see where the confusion came from, now. We have some good commanders on our server, but the time of day was bad timing on our part. One of the good ones had just logged off shortly before things started flipping on the map, and the handful of us on TS were wondering why SW tower was being attacked while it was obvious that more important targets were being flipped by you guys. I had fun in the end, and that’s what’s important (to me) but I’m sorry some of our folks /laughed. The only emote I use is /bow or /wave (depending on whether I’m respecting someone I fought, or hoping to not get facerolled while doing JP, for example.)

Is there a good way of countering a golem rush of that magnitude? So far the consensus seems to be “back off, and retake it from them once they move on”.

lords room ballistas, the golems are useless at fighting players. Use seige to take out non golems, then wipe up the golems after. You won’t take them down in that large a number without pre warning and a tonne of seige already set up.

Another great point, but server coordination simply does not work. You will not be able to get everyone to agree, and it takes only a small handful of people to break any sort of truce.

Have a stocked keep, get people to reinforce in a decently timely manner, then siege your inner or lord room to hell. Depends on how many golems and pre-siege there is on how many gates you’re sacrificing to buy your people time to build.

When you’re sieging an inner choke or lord room, don’t make the common mistake of spreading siege out. Siege limit is 5/1000(1200?) so clustering groups of 5 and then spreading those clusters can fit insane amounts of siege in lord rooms.

If you stop them enough that it becomes a protracted lord room fight, that should favor you based on waypoints. Contesting waypoints is huge, and using your invader timer to suicide push or ferry in supply is important.

As stated multiple, multiple times throughout this thread, a lot of folks, myself included, could give two kittens about the score due to the huge advantage the most populated server has.

Now, if the number of players allowed into WvW per server was capped at the lowest number of players from the three servers, then Maguuma may have something to brag about. If WvW was designed to be a balanced and fair fight, then we may actually give a kitten.

This is so true. When CD first reentered T3 a long time ago,we had a few guilds that coordinated with FA to bring the pain to TC. Worked great for a grand total of less than a day before we returned to attacking each other due to several small incidents. During the third week of CD/IOJ/FA, we had a clear lead over IOJ and FA over the weekend. FA and IOJ proceeded to team up on us and the result was all 3 servers having an extremely close score over the next 2 days. When it looked like CD was going to lose the 1st place position however, IOJ and FA then began fighting each other over 1st place. Needless to say, we were able to take advantage of that and reestablished a big lead as the other two were too busy fighting each other.
