I AM NO LONGER UPDATING THIS THREAD BECAUSE I AM NO LONGER PLAYING GUILD WARS 2. SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS TO TAKE THIS UP IF THEY WANT IT MAINTAINED. So much for horizontal progression.
If you read this post, you’ll see the OP is no longer updating that thread. So I’m going to try to keep up with it. Much copypasta from MajorMelchett!
This thread is for bugs only and not suggestions.
Please post any bugs/glitches you have spotted and I will add them to the list on a mostly daily basis (after testing). Also if the bug hasn’t been posted already in the game bug section please post about it in that section and then put the link in your post so I can add it here as well – this is so the mods/devs still have single thread links available for ease of use.
GENERAL BUGS

Air Attunement Switching — Function bug
Switching to Air is considered an attack, when you switch it can start to auto attack a nearby target. This does NOT require Electric Discharge.
Attacking Environmental Objects — Function bug
Lightning Whip misses most of the time on many environmental objects, even when standing still. Chain Lightning suffers similar problems, noted on the flowers in Twilight Arbor. Fire Grab misses frequently in general, but misses on stationary, in-range environmental objects as well.
Audio problems — Function issue
Using scepter on a female asura, the asura says “AAAAAAAAAAAH” with every autoattack from Earth and Air attunement.
Casting on a slope — Visual bug
Signet of Air, Arcane Power, Armor of Earth’s effect is skewed off to the side when cast on a slope.
Cast times — Function bug
Many of the listed cast times are longer than the tooltip says.
Skills with damage delay, CC — Function bug
If a skill such as Dragon’s Tooth is successfully cast, but you are CC’ed while the tooth is still hovering, the tooth will do no damage when it lands.
Transformations — Function bug
Skills like Mist Form and Tornado break certain PvE disguises. Mist Form also put skills (such as Glyph of Elemental Harmony) on full cooldown if used mid-cast, but you don’t get the heal.

Arcane Power — Function bug
Doesn’t give you 5 critical hits like the tooltip states in many cases. These consume charges regardless of damage/actual hits:
→ Burning Speed has many tiny hits triggered along the firewall which consumes all the charges even though they miss.
→ Churning Earth consumes charges with its 4x cripple pulses even though they don’t deal damage.
→ Water attunement
→ Phoenix consumes two
→ Water Trident consumes two
→ Chain Lightning consumes 1 regardless of bounces
→ Ice Shards and Dragon’s Claw consume three; if you have fewer than 3 remaining then they often do not crit at all.
Arc Lightning — Visual bug
Cast animation doesn’t stop once the target is dead or when changing targets and sometimes when the cast has finished.
Armor of Earth — Function bug
Protection and stability granted have a base duration of 6 seconds, not 8 as stated by tooltip.
Armor of Earth — Function bug
Tooltip correctly updates with increased boon duration via points in Arcane Line, but the duration of the spell (and associated boons) still only lasts 8.
Burning Retreat — Combo field issue
Must be completely centered in the line to trigger a combo with blast finisher; lacks a box around it like Churning Earth etc. have.

Burning Speed — Function bug / possible lag issue
Sometimes the blast occurs at the beginning of the slide forward instead of at the end of the slide. This results in a huge chunk of D/D burst being lost as the blast will not hit your intended target in a combo.

Says it’s a charge and release skill, but it’s a regular channel.
Cleansing Fire — Function bug
Doesn’t break stuns.
Conjures (non-elites) — Function bug
If you cancel Conjure Frost Bow, Conjure Lightning Hammer, or Conjure Flame Axe with Esc, the skill goes on full recharge instead of the 4s
Conjure Fiery Greatsword — Function bug
“Fiery Rush” skill does not create any fire field if you use it from less than ~250 range from the target.

Signet of Fire, Water and Earth don’t display proper casting animations when wielded.

Ring of Fire skill isn’t listed as a combo field on the tooltip.

Tooltip says it only heals for 15 regardless of level/healing stat, when it actually heals for much more.

Blast finisher triggers at character’s location, not the spell’s.
Flame Burst — Function bug
Since Oct. 1: When cast on a foe behind you, rather than failing and going on a 3s cooldown, it doesn’t fail and goes on 10s recharge.
Fire Grab — Function bug
Sometimes has trouble with Z-axis. On a still player target slightly above the ele, the skill casts but no damage, no block, no miss, no evade, no nothing.
Freezing Gust — Function bug
Chill only lasts 2 seconds instead of 3 as tooltip states.

Glyph of Elementals — Function bug
In PvE when cast, the Glyph immediately begins a 120-second recharge, but 60 seconds in (the life of the elemental) the counter resets to a full 120 seconds. In the PvP lobby, the Glyph begins a 60-second cooldown (the life of the elemental) and then goes into a 120-second recharge when the elemental dies.
Glyph of Elementals — Tooltip bug
Extra tooltip text stating the skill is locked or you’re transformed (visual bug, not major).
Glyph of Lesser Elementals — Tooltip bug

Glyph of Renewal — Function bug
All-around broken. Reports of various success of reviving downed and dead players. Bugs reported include:
-> Does not teleport target near you if you are at 1200 meter range. It teleports to around halfway.
-> Does not work at all in air attunement.
-> Resurrects at full health in fire.
-> Rezzes nearest downed friendly rather than target (sometimes prioritizes NPCs over targeted player).
Glyph of Storms — Function bug
Does not function like other Glyphs do in regards to attunement swapping. Others’ effects are determined by what attunement you are in when the spell finishes casting.
Glyph of Storms effect is determined by whatever attunement you are in when you start the cast.
Grasping Earth — Function bug
Affects nearest enemy, not who you have targeted.
Gust — Function bug
Get “obstructed” if used on a target that is on a different level than you even when you have line of sight — IE, on the upper level of keep in forest while being on the point.
Healing Rain — Function bug
Lasts only 4-5 seconds while tooltip says 9 seconds.
Lightning Flash — Function issue
Sometimes the teleport doesn’t go off. You see the lightning strike at the targeted location, but your character isn’t moved there. Most of the time this occurs when the area you are targeting is higher or lower (And I don’t mean that the view is blocked). The character “jumps” forward sometimes, as if it is trying to move to that location, but it appears that the location is “blocked”. The skill still goes onto its full cooldown.
Lightning Flash — Function issue
Can teleport you inside Risen Rotmouths.
Lightning Surge — Function bug
Since Oct. 1 patch, doesn’t display “Out of Range!” when out of range.
Magnetic Current — Function bug
When you pull yourself to the enemy all your earth skills go on a 1s CD leaving you vulnerable.
Magnetic Grasp — Function bug
Usually works in pulling you to the foe, but sometimes it will pull you to them and keep pulling you to them even when you right next to them. This is also like a CC cast on yourself as it can leave you helpless (the duration is around 10 seconds long).
Magnetic Grasp — Function bug
Doesn’t work when chasing targets moving away from you at a constant speed, even if you’re faster than they are, because the 900 range counts from the spot where you cast the spell, and the projectile is very slow moving. So even if you are still within 900 range when the projectile lands, you will get an out of range message.

Is a leap finisher, but it is not stated on the tooltip.
Magnetic Wave — Visual bug
Projectile reflection lasts for 3 seconds, but this has no accompanying visual indicator.

If you cast Tornado while in Mist Form, Tornado will pre-emptively end when Mist Form ends, spitting you back into normal state

Ride the Lightning does not work a lot of the time when you use it while targetting an enemy that’s moving. This is a huge bug because it leaves you helpless for the duration of the spell and it’s like a CC you cast on yourself. Also has issues with terrain.

The damage in skill’s description scales with power and weapon damage, but the actual damage done does not.
(Example: character with 916 power, lvl 80, with no armor and no amulet, on pvp, with steady PvP scepter (112 weapon damage) deals to Medium armor random amount of damage (70-75) despite listed 13 on skill description. After equipping pvp scepter , damage listed on skill increases greatly, damage done -> not.

Shatterstone — Function bug
For around 2 seconds after casting, you can move and dodge normally (and spell goes off as usual) but can’t cast anything else during the dead period. Still lacking a cast bar after Oct. 7 update, despite remaining “hidden” cast time.

Does not grant all boons when used with Superior Runes of Lyssa set.
Vapor Blade — Function bug
Vapor Blade is supposed to hit twice, once on the initial path and once when it returns to you. However If any obstacle is in front of you or behind your enemy (e.g. a wall), the blade won’t come back and will hit just once (intentional?).
Vapor Form (downed state) — Function issue
Stacks the downed penalty every time you enter it, leading you to go straight into defeated after several uses, even if no enemies had managed to finish you off.
Vapor Form (downed state) — Function issue
Lasts only 1-2 seconds vs. the 3 it should since Oct. 23 patch.
Whirlpool — Visual bug
Loses its graphics if any other skills graphical effect is added before casting. (for example, magnetic shield, arcane shield, auras etc.). Also invisible sometimes without this.

When used with Signet of Restoration, treats each pulse of damage as five ‘attacks’ whether you hit something or not, providing a rather large amount of healing.

Doesn’t restore energy at all for Arcane Power, Arcane Shield, or Signet of Restoration. Restores energy if you have an enemy targeted (even if it’s out of range) for Signet of Fire/Earth/Air/Water and Arcane Wave/Blast. Differing results in the Mists vs. PvE/WvW.
Arcane Fury/Lingering Elements — Function bug
Lingering Elements has no effect on Arcane Fury (intentional or not?).
Arcane Resurrection/Elemental Shielding — Function bug
When Arcane Resurrection is used with Elemental Shielding, the affected players gain 10s of protection, not the stated 3.
Arcane Retribution — Function bug
Grants Arcane Power at 75% health, lasts for 3 seconds. However the actual Arcane Power skill lasts for 30 seconds. May also have an unreliable proc/hidden cooldown that should be put on the tooltip.
Blasting Staff — Function bug
Overwrites some other traits when slotted together, namely:
-> Geomancer’s Alacrity (Eruption does not benefit from the cooldown reduction)
-> Persisting Flames (Lava Font only persists for 4 seconds despite the tooltip correctly displaying 6s)
Blasting Staff — Visual bug
The marker circle on the ground doesn’t get bigger for all skills, (though the effect does indeed become bigger). Affected skills are Fire 1, 3 and 5; Air 2.
Bountiful Power — Function bug
Supposed to do more damage for each boon on you, but stability doesn’t count for increasing damage.

The tooltip says an earth dodge will cast Churning Earth, but it instead casts Shockwave despite the animation looking like a Churning Earth. This Shockwave does about 10% of the direct damage of Churning Earth and has no bleed damage.

Signet of Restoration, at level 80 with 0 healing power, restores 202 hp. The passive given by Written in Stone gives 150 hp. The Written in Stone passives are all equal to the normal recharges of the signets, except Signet of Restoration, which is 40s instead of 25s. If you use Signet Mastery, you CAN have double the passive on you for very short periods (+180 precision for 4s from Signet of Fire, etc.).
Zephyr’s Boon — Function bug
Duration of boons applied varies by aura. Shocking aura gives 13 (30 arcane, so 10 sec base) sec. of swiftness and fury, whereas frost aura gives between 6 (4-5 base, again arcane bonus).
Zephyr’s Focus/Vigorous Scepter — Function bug?
Effects do not stack. Intended?

Firegrab, Shocking Touch, Cone of Cold, Drakes Breath
All the above (and more on other classes) suffer from a ‘miss’ when using the Right Mouse Button when not aimed perfectly at the target. This is exacerbated while moving.
It’d be great if you stay on top of this thread unlike the last OP, best of luck!
OK, updated up to this post from the sticky. I can haz replacement sticky, mods?
Zephyr’s Speed / One with the Air / Haste (boon).
When attacked or attune swapping and an auto strike happens, you lose all your speed boons. Even though haste will appear, it will not increase movement speed.
Being that I see other players able to run with haste and the same with monsters, I know this is a bug.
Lava Font — Function bug
The tooltip states it lasts for 6 seconds however it actually lasts for 4-5 seconds.
The tooltip states 4s like it should. (observed in PvP lobby and Lion’s Arch)
Persisting Flames — Function bug
Does not affect Lava Font
Lava Font ticks 5 times with PF, 4 times without. (tested in PvP lobby)
Burning Retreat:
The Combo Field is insanely narrow/nonexistant. Or, it may “pulse” the combo field, not just the pulse that applies burning to targets, leading to inconsistent usage.
-If standing in the fire wall, Arcane Wave will consistently work as a finsher.
-If setting off a blast finisher nearby the Fire Wall, a successful combo is extremely rare. It appears that the center of the finisher must line up with the center axis of the field.
-If standing at the end of the fire wall (after just using the skill), firing at a target at the other end, projectile finishers work or fail seemingly at random.
-If standing to the side of the fire wall, and shooting a projectile finisher accross it, or at a target standing in it, the finisher (almost?) never works.
-There is no ground effect border to identify the size of the combo field. Compare to Unsteady Ground, Ethereal Curtain, etc.
As of 2012-09-29 (all testing in PvP lobby)
When interrupted goes on full 30-second cooldown vs. shorter interrupt cooldown.
Most likely intentional. Churning Earth provides an effect (AoE slowing) while channeling. If it could be interrupted, it could be abused. (same as with Ether Renewal)
Boons are not affected by Arcane line’s duration bonuses.

3) Glyph of elemental power : The extra condition effect seems to apply alomst never, maybe 2 times after 20 attacks, I don’t think this as intended as right now this glyph is virtually useless
This bug seems to have something to do with the number of spells cast.
- 2 crits from fireball spamming.
- 3 crits from LF+Fireball spam
- 4-5 crits from LF+Single fireball
- 5 crits from a single LF/GoS.
To add some more info. If I use a single Lava Font on multiple targets, it seems to crit 5 times for the first target, and 4 times for each of the other targets. (a total of 13 crits on three golems).
On the other hand, Meteor Shower only gave 2 crits to a single target. (looks like each meteor counts as its own spell).

If you’re in combat you get a -30% speed penalty; are you sure the “loss of speed boons” doesn’t come from that?
One With Air — Function issue
Does not increase movement speed at all, will not override Zephyr’s Speed.
Have you tested [One with Air] increases your speed after 30+ seconds? In the first 29 seconds you’ll see no increase in speed because you already have +10% from the minor trait.
Ride the Lightning:
If occasionally takes you backwards (to some enemy or rabbit) instead of forwards.
Zepher’s Boon: Not sure if bug or intended, but different auras provided different boon durations. Shocking aura gives me 13 (30 arcane, so 10 sec base) sec. of swiftness and fury, whereas frost aura gives between 6 (4-5 base, again arcane bonus). Same with fire auras. Not sure if shocking is too high or the rest are too low. (Hope the rest are too low).
Zepher’s Focus: 100% endurance buff is in effect only while channeling skills. That seems to fit the description, but oddly if you mouse over the effect that pops up while you are channeling, it shows a duration of 8-9 seconds which will far exceed the channel time of your spell (say Drake’s Breath).
HOWEVER: Using Cone of Cold will allow Zepher’s Focus effect to last the full duration displayed for other skills, and will not shut off when the spell finishes channeling. The effect can be cut off early by by switching to another channeling spell and using it, causing the effect to end on the end of the channel. This is not just a visual effect, the regen is still in effect. Not sure if all of them should last the full time or if all should be shutting off the second you stop channeling.
Zepher’s Boon and Vigorous Scepter do not seem to stack. Previous comments mentioned speed bonuses not working correctly either. Not sure if this is working as intended or a bug, but it seems that with everything in GW2, nothing stacks, it just takes the highest number.
Powerful Auras
1/2 times, auras do not display on friendly targets, making you unsure whether or not they have been applied. It appears that they are fairly regularly applying to those within range, as when I click on my friends I can see the effects. This would appear to largely be a visual bug.
Burning Fire
Tooltip is incorrect and frankly effects don’t seem to do anything. Cleansing Flame (sic) ((Fire?)), Signet of Fire already do fire damage…How is this helpful? Does it ADD an additional 3 sec of fire damage?

Evasive Arcana, when using the Churning Earth effect, you don’t get any of the burst damage AT ALL. There is only the bleed condition that is applied.

I believe it has an internal cooldown of appx 10 seconds. That makes it not a bug, but a balance issue, and I agree it makes it nearly worthless. If it could have 100% uptime, maybe that would be worth a slot, but a 3-5s condition once every 10-15s (ICD+proc rate) isn’t worth it.

@Wildclaw: Thank you SO much for testing these, I’ll update here in just one sec. I had planned to get them all down and go back and test afterward, but it’s more time consuming organizing these than I thought and unfortunately I’ve had very little playtime the last couple of days. I really, really appreciate it.
@LightningLockey: I didn’t include the bit about Ride the Lightning because it only seems to be a problem if you have autotargeting on. If you don’t, you can use it for movement without it randomly selecting a target.
@Everyone else: I’m still working through that old thread as quickly as possible; I hope to finish sometime this evening. Then I’ll get to updating with this thread asap!

Alllmost done with that old thread. There are a couple things I want to test myself first before I add them, because I can’t recall having those issues.
For zephyr’s boon skill on dual daggers, shocking aura buffs scale with +boon duration from base 10, while frost aura is stuck at 8 seconds (which should be at least 10 according to the wiki).
Is it intended that Gylph of Elementals cooldown to triggers twice? In PvE the cooldown starts counting down right when you summon the elemental, and then starts over again when the elemental dies.

The second cooldown shows how long the elemental lasts.

It’s very stupid to have ICD and proc rate for a glyph which last 30s and force you to spamm auto-attacks to reach the most potential..another great idea from Anet
Did you put in the bug with Armor of Earth where the tooltip says 10.5 seconds of stability and protection (with 30 in Arcana – boon duration) but the duration of the spell (and associated boons) only lasts 8?
Is it intended that Gylph of Elementals cooldown to triggers twice? In PvE the cooldown starts counting down right when you summon the elemental, and then starts over again when the elemental dies.
The second cooldown shows how long the elemental lasts.
It doesn’t. I have the trait that reduced the cooldown. The first cooldown starts counting down from 96 seconds. at around 36 seconds the elemental dies, and the cooldown starts counting down again from 96 seconds. If it was displaying the amount of time the elemental lasts the first cooldown should start from 60 seconds.
Now it could be that they mean for the first cooldown to be the duration and it’s a display bug OR prehaps they actually changed the cooldown to start when you summon the elemental (listening to player feedback) and forgot to take the part out where the cooldown stats when the elemental dies.
The cooldown for mist form with the trait, cantrip mastery, is still 75 seconds. It says 60 seconds in the tool tip, but it still takes 75 seconds to come off cooldown.

Stone Shards doesn’t trigger the trait Zephyr’s Focus even though it’s listed as a channeling skill.
How about:
Conjured weapons don’t inherit the stats from your weapon (making the much weaker than your normal skills)?

I just tested it in the mists, the second timer shows how long the elemental lives. Every time I use it, 60 seconds start counting down. The glyph resets and starts the cd of 96/120 after elemental dies.
So really the CD number should say “However long your elemental lives up to 60 seconds + 96/120”
Firegrab, Shocking Touch, Cone of Cold, Drakes Breath
All the above (and more on other classes) suffer from a ‘miss’ when using the Right Mouse Button when not aimed perfectly at the target. This is exacerbated while moving.

I didn’t include this one because I don’t think this is necessarily a bug … just a very tiny hitbox for the skill. I know what you mean, but I DO sometimes hit targets when RMB is held down so … =/
Zepher’s Focus: 100% endurance buff is in effect only while channeling skills. That seems to fit the description, but oddly if you mouse over the effect that pops up while you are channeling, it shows a duration of 8-9 seconds which will far exceed the channel time of your spell (say Drake’s Breath).
HOWEVER: Using Cone of Cold will allow Zepher’s Focus effect to last the full duration displayed for other skills, and will not shut off when the spell finishes channeling. The effect can be cut off early by by switching to another channeling spell and using it, causing the effect to end on the end of the channel. This is not just a visual effect, the regen is still in effect. Not sure if all of them should last the full time or if all should be shutting off the second you stop channeling.
I’m a little confused what you mean by Cone of Cold. You’re saying that other channels cut the duration of the trait’s bonus off as soon as the channel is finished, but it lasts the 8-9 seconds for Cone of Cold, even though that channel doesn’t last 8-9 seconds?
Otherwise, I should be caught up! Been bouncing back and forth between both threads so if I forgot something, please do point it out again!

So it does work in the mists, it doesn’t display correctly in pve.
I just tested it in the mists and in lion’s arch. In the Mists when you summon the elemental it shows 60 seconds. When it dies the 120 second cooldown starts ticking down. In Lion’s Arch it shows the cooldown of 96 seconds instead of the duration when you first summon the elemental.
So really the CD number should say “However long your elemental lives up to 60 seconds + 96/120”
Yeah so really the cooldown is 3 minutes / 2:36 seconds long. In PvE it just doesn’t display correctly.

- While the Arcane Power skill works for 30 seconds, the bonus given by Arcane Retribution lasts only 3s.
- Plus, it does not seem to proc as often as it should. Or there is an invisible Cooldown that would be nice to see.
Conjured Frost Bow skill 1 says it heals for 15 at lv80, which should be either a typo and it heals for more (haven’t had the chance to test) or the healing should be upped to make it comparable with Staff Water skill 1, which does exactly the same.
Also, being Asura female and using scepter is greatly irritating, because you scream “AAAAAAAAAAAH” with every autoattack from Earth and Air attunement. Not sure where else and for which races/genders this is a problem as well.
Sometimes I wonder if this class just feels underpowered to some people because of all the bugs.
I mean, half duration for the vigor on phoenix, lower duration on armor of earth, not breaking stun… and all the other stuff like traits not working.
That’s quiet a huge part of combatpower lost.
I hope the next patch(es) fix a lot of those ability and trait bugs on all the classes. Because they are even worse to me than the events/Skillpoint bugs

You are trying it on a downed, not defeated, opponent, correct? Just doublechecking before I add it, because I find rez skills a pain to test without making someone suicide, lol.

It heals for more, that’s a tooltip issue. Added!

I agree. I think bug fixes will make a huge impact on the ele’s power relative to other classes.

EDIT: I haven’t overlooked the Glyph of Elemental issues, I simply forgot to test it out this afternoon and I want to do it myself since it’s stirred up quite a bit of debate.
