My current Mesmer build. This is used for anything PvE, whether it is Dungeons, Fractals, or just throughout the PvE World. It is heavy DPS but has great survivability and team support.
Im sure a lot of those builds are already in the forum but i feel to post what i have anyway.

Hello all! Here is a heavy conditions build that I have made and I would like some opinions on it. This is a PvE build that revolves around stacking confusion with the scepter/torch and staff as an offhand weapon with high survive ability. Please let me know what you think are the pros and cons of the is build as well as any questions as to why I choose a certain skill or trait. Thanks!

its a bit like Levitas´ killthingsfast mantrabuild, but with a bit more defense
and straight gs/staff oriented and no ascendend gear.
after messing things up with my old phantasmbuild while solofarming orr (the old setup feels like a painintheass to be played, i started to “dont give a kitten ” and just
remembering how relaitvely easy lvling was with staff/gs combi.
the build can be handled easily with good enough speed for solo pve. ive tested it shortly in orr and compared to my old setup, killspeed was pretty much faster (although im wearing a wild kitten mix of items. which gives me hope to have enough room for even more damage and optimization).
no need to hustle with any preparations during fights, just plain phantasm spam and extensive use of staff and gs switching. get your 4 mantras ready and use em just if absolutely necessary (mantras could be king during fights, if it werent that kitten long casting time. lack of support is a mess too)
the build can be modified in some ways
- 3 mantracharges thru gm trait XI in domination /see Levitas post
- pure berserker gear /glassy
- full defensive gear /not that effective imo
- rune setups with +boonduration
- deceptive evasion instead of mantra cd boost
e.g. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQJARWl4zioHSTlGa9IhJF9G5kUo6UX6BuvtsB-jUyAYLAKCQCsIasFwwWdDS5NaqFM1JRUt3oIa1A-w

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQJARWl4zioHSTlGa9IxpHJH6PnUBVX6BuvtsB-jUyAYLAKCQCsIasFwwWdDS5NaqFM1JRUt3oIa1A-w
lacks a bit weapon cooldown, but imo worth a try
asf
but imo i recommend to be more straight into berserker or knights direction, cos staff and gs have enough defense utilities for pve solo plus regen/protection from traits and 9%dmg reduction thru illusion spamming.
again, this is somehow mainly meant as a lazymouse solo pve build
/edit
in order to maintain the constant 16% damage and benefit from another utility, like sigils or iDefender for example, u can put a second (or third) greatsword, preferably berserker stats, with 5% damage sigil (or even 10% with night sigil) in your inv and swap it after collecting 25 stacks of precision. either this or u go full damage with then 16 = 21%(26% at night) damageboost.

I am sure what I am about to post already exists…but it is something I have cooked up from my time playing, and from what I enjoy. This is a rather fun balance between the traditional condition damage builds and a clone build.
With the traits as they are, the main focus is on the Staff to have those bouncing attacks add up, and the number of conditions and boons with it. Adding in Time Warp will actually drastically increase the number of attacks even clones are sending off! With Mirror images and the short cooldown on phase retreat, having at least 3 clones up should be no problem at all. This also boost Ether feast.
Now, he comes the interesting bit. As a vast majority of a mesmer’s condition damage comes from punishing a foe for using skills, knowing when to use either Mind Wrack or Cry of Frustration will be a huge asset. It is possible to do both within a couple seconds of each other, switch to Scepter/focus and inflict bleed, burning, and torment is such a short period, enemies are drowning in number counters.
Now, Feedback can either be Feedback OR Null field. Null field has some added support, while feedback can significantly reduce damage when facing ranged opponents, rendering them useless against your storm of bouncing bolts. I have fun running it, and with full carrion gear other than accessories, I have decent damage, great vitality, and fantastic condition damage.
Underwater is actually viable with this build, minus null field. With an insane amount of bleeding damage, and still having fun with bouncing bolts. Pistol may work better in this build, but torch has burning, which is more fun.

The Corrupt Mesmer Builds
I have 4 different builds – Flowing Images (hybrid power/condition), Flustered Fragments (condition shatter dps), Fata Morgana Conditions (condition non-shatter control/support), and Ignis Fatuus Rings (condition signets). They all have one thing in common and that’s making a lot of illusions, but then each of them have something that stands out different from each other. Also, each build has a variant of it (hence the two trait setups for each).
Flustered Fragments: 0/30/0/10/30 – 0/20/0/20/30
Fata Morgana Conditions: 0/30/30/10/0 – 0/20/30/20/0
Flowing Images: 10/30/0/10/20 – 10/20/10/0/30
Ignis Fatuus Rings: 20/30/20/0/0
Edit: Added 4th build. I promise that’s all I have! ^^;

I’m just starting a Mesmer (level 36 so far) and been experimenting and trying to learn the class.
After heavy reading here I came up with the following build. Have not yet had a chance to try it out, but the idea is using phantasms with the help of mantra healing/damage.
I do mostly PvE with some dungeons (now that I have the level for them).
I do prefer GS and like sword/pistol, but swordsman seems to be better than the duelist, thus the sword/sword combo.
It’s 0/20/0/25/25 build.
Hey everyone,
Hope you take the time to look at it,
it’s based on aoe boons and aoe condi’s for support/condi tourney play.

here is my Pooff gone 2 builds with massive conditions use
the pooff and gone retaliation build will be buffed after the new patch with 2 condition clearness from heal skill
the first one is more fast phase and bit more risky
using my mes only in WvW, and while for solo roaming i’m using mostly Blackwater and it’s variations, on weeks when there’s much blobbing and running with zergs i was trying out Kilya’s Triforce, but it didn’t suit my playstyle very well.
So i made a few adjustments and my “long range zerg-support condition build” was born.
Aoe confusion and blind to punish zerg “1,1,1,1,1,1,1” mentality; bleeding, cripple and confusion from illusions. It may not be the best but i like it:

Mesmer WvW build. Heavy conditions, controlling enemies and high surviveability.
In this build you use your staff to stay defensive, applying conditions and buffing yourself. When your enemy runs low health you can switch to scepter, deal more confusion and applying torment so if they run they get hit by torment alot, and confusion brings them more down when they are using skills.
In this build you should always heal when you are under 15k health. The healing skill reflects projectiles so teleporting away with Phase Retreat might be a good idea.
Good Luck!
Mesmer Heartbreaker build

Domination 10 III
Duelling 15 IV
Inspiration 25 V X
Illusions 20 III X
Sword/Sword, Staff
Phantasmal Disenchanter
Signet of the Ether
Mantra of Pain
Blink
Timewarp/Mass Invisibility/Moa Morph
Food: Omnomberry Ghost
Utility: Toxic Sharpening Stone preferred.
Sigils: Bloodlust on Staff, Force and Blood on the Swords.
Runes: Full Traveler.
Stats: Carrion wherever possible as BIS. If Carrion unavailable for that slot use Rampager. Damage is amped by Power (Direct damage from Sword set), Precision (Crits, Bleed on Crits, Damage on Crits from Blood sigil and Omnomberry Ghost) and Condition Damage (Bleeds, Confusion, Burning mainly), survivability is amped by Vitality from Carrion equipments and Precision (triggering heals from Blood sigil and Omnomberry Ghost).
If desired Carrion and Rampager can be replaced with Valkyrie equipment for greater burst and direct damage effects, but this will reduce its AoE power, as well as its overall survivability. Berserker gear is strongly discouraged on this due to the amount of time you must spend in close combat to be effective. Celestial gear is slightly discouraged as Healing Power is not as effective as Precision in raising this build’s overall heal capabilities, Toughness is irrelevant as Healing is in abundance and the phantasms can be snap refreshed by the new Heal skill.
Approach: Use Swords against single targets or groups of weaker melee using enemies, using skills 2 and 4 as necessary to reduce damage received while dealing it. Keep the Disenchanter and Swordsman up for as long as possible; the former is more important for being your condition removal AND your opponent’s boon debuffer, while the second is just damage. Use Staff against groups of targets to AoE condition the whole lot of them, then kite as necessary.
Use Mantra of Pain to keep yourself and your Phantasms well-healed as far as possible. While you’re channeling the Mantra, your Phantasms and condition damage will still be useable, and you have a short period where you can use both Pain charges, Mind Wrack and perhaps Sword 2 simultaneously for a high burst if necessary. If not at that situation, and your phantasms cannot survive for much longer because MoP is in the Power Spike form, burst your phantasms and use your healing signet for an instant phantasm respawn as necessary.
You have an average heal of 1600 health points per second (one of the highest possible sustained heal rates in the game, period…) between the Phantasmal regen, Blood sigil, Omnomberry Ghost, Signet of the Ether and Mantra of Pain, which should be able to refresh your health every 14 seconds or so. Your damage output when in direct mode is approximately 2000 damage per second from swords, 500 damage per second from your food and sigil effects, 800 damage per second from your Swordsman and Disenchanter and 200 damage per second from bleeds, for a total for about 3500 damage per second before boons. Thus the health gap is widened by approximately 5000 health every second; to match this over time an opposing build must be able to create a larger health gap per second. Against any control heavy or burst damage build Blink, Sword 2, Sword 4 will get you out of danger.
Maximal burst damage is about 1800 from mind wrack, 3000 from the swordsman, 700 from mantra of pain, 800 from sigil + food, 3500 from Sword 2, for a total of ~10,000 within one second, which should be capable of taking down any class from < 33% HP, and Elementalists from <50% HP if every single hit crits, prior to the effects of Might or Protection. To be safe, using Diversion instead will ensure 8000 worth of damage will all be delivered in a basically unblockable manner within a second; Recommend using Diversion on targets with <1/3 HP the moment after the Swordsman attacks followed by all other skills as necessary to ensure a kill.
Ratings:
Survivability – 9/10
Burst Damage – 8/10
Sustained Damage – 9/10
Range – 6/10 (Staff mode is not to be used for extended periods of time, and does weak direct damage).
Reflex Skill – 4/10
Intellect Skill – 7/10
Weakness – No stealth – if outnumbered in WvW, you will generally die. No projectile reflects.

could anyone link the best WvW build nowadays? Focus on DMG. Skip the support bullkitten..
“The Might Witch”
Staff/GS this build is great for group support in wvw and spvp as well as roaming. Survivability is a little harder than PU but you get the staff which helps and some added toughness.
In any case, you will be stacking might nonstop and it’s possible to get 25 stacks of might in a prolonged fight. The damage is insane and it’s pretty fun if you want to use signet of inspiration to swap all that might to allies.
You are sacrificing some usual traits, but I can attest that the new ones are addictive. You are getting more reach and shorter cd’s with manipulation skills and you are getting a lot of ways to get might in a very short time.
Pay attention to the runes and sigils as well as the consumables in wvw.
let me know what you think

Thanks for taking the time to watch and read this post.

Here’s a hybrid damage version of the Prismatic Understanding mesmer. I use this primarily in WvW, and it works quite well.
Good condition damage with staff and torch, decent direct damage and burst with Blurred Frenzy and Mind Wrack. Great defense through toughness, boon stacking, interrupts, stealth, and mobility. 70% condition duration with food.
I generally try to start with staff to build boons and conditions, interrupt early with chaos storm and diversion, then move in and burst. I like the extra continuous healing from Signet of the Ether, and Signet of Domination provides another nice stun/interrupt along with bolstering the condition damage side. I use all my shatters regularly, they all work well with the build.
(edited by Fozzik.1742)
So here is my build, which I have been using for the last 4 months.
The general idea is a shatter spec that draws its defense from prismatic understanding (PU, Chaos XII), about 1700 toughness, sword mainhand, sword offhand and disortion.
This build does not have deceptive evasion, which it does not necessarily need: Sword/Sword generates clonse extremely fast due to 40% reduced cooldowns in clone generation skills (Dueling IV and Illusion 15pt minor).
Sigils of Battle on each weapon, Shattered Strength (Illusion 25pt minor), Bountiful Interruption (Chaos VIII) are sources of might stacks. These stacks will last quite long since you have 30% boon duration from 30 points in Chaos and additional 15% from Traveler’s Runes. Usually, you will not have less than 10 stacks of might and can easily exceed 20 stacks if you time your crowd control spells and interupt your foes.
Since we get about 650 condition damage from traits alone, I did not want to let those get to waste. With the condition duration buff food (pizza) and around 10 might stacks, you are now capable of dealing a decent amount of condition damage. This is especially useful with Debilitating Dissipation (Chaos V, conditions on clone death), since it punishes enemies who try to kill your clones. Additionally, you can now use Cry of Frustation (F2 Shatter) quite nicely. Although the confusion is only 4 seconds and can be cleansed quite easily, a full shatter results in 8 stacks of confusion which deal between 1000 and 2000 damage per skill use with some might stacks. This is really nice for some skill spammers like thiefs or d/d necros trying to mow you away.
This build profits greatly from WvW Ranks. I rely on 5 stacks of Applied Fortitude (250 Vit) to boost my health pool. Therefore, I do not have any vitality on my gear or from traits. The additional 100 power and condition damage are a welcome bonus and go nicely with the rest of the setup.
An alternative setup is to swap 10 points from Dueling to Domination to get Mental Torment (Domination I) for additional 20% Mind Wrack (F1 Shatter) damage or to Inspiration to get Mender’s Purity (Inspiriation IV) for condition removal on heal. With the upcoming nerf to Critical Infusion (Dueling 5 pts minor), it might also be viable to get Vigorous Revelation (Inspiration III), which will also help your allies as well as yourself.
For most encounters you can use Shatter F1 and the damage from Phantasms to kill them. If your F1 is on cooldown and you get beaten, stealth, create clones and reappear with a shatter.
The only exception here is when you are facing thieves, most notably condition thiefs with lots of stealth uptime. Then you do not shatter your phantasms and keep them alive and have them dealing damage once the thief reappers. It’s very cheesy and similar to using a phantasm PU spec but it gets the job done.
This setup is also quite nice when running in a zerg or small group. With Null Field, Veil and Mass Invisibility you can support the zerg. If your clones get killed shortly after summoning them: you are still contributing due to Debilitating Dissipation (Chaos V) and your interruptes from greatsword 5, sword offhand 4 and Diversion (Shatter F2).
Hi
Im a mesmer phantasm for Dungeons and general PvE(solo).
Traits: 10/30/0/30/0
Domination: 15% Illusion Damage/Crippling Dissipation(10)
Dueling: Phantasmal Fury/Mantra Master(10)Duelist’s Discipline/Deceptive Evasion(20)Empowering Mantras/Furious Interruption(30)
Inspiration: Medic’s Feedback/Compounding Celerity/Mender’s Purity/Persisting Images(10)Warden’s Feedaback/Restorative Mantras(20) Shattered Conditions(30)
Armor: All berserker with Scholar runes/Ruby Orb.
Weapons: GS(bosses, PvE), S/S(PvE, dungeons) , S/P(dungeons, bosses), S/F(dungeons, PvE) *Sigils, depending on the dungeon, im currently at 5% Critical Rate and 5% Dmg.
Heal: Mirror
Utility: All (depend on the map/dungeon/boss u running)
This build max out Crit Damage(100%) and relies on Phantasms to deal most of its damage.
Aside from that, it have a lot of builds mobility by insta changing the Trait Skills (note i use lots of different combos) and Utilities.
U can easy cure conditions(you and party), easy heal (you and party), Run Areas(without fighting), Fight Veterans and lots of champions (alone), Negate all projectiles (you and party) and be cool (2 swords and GS).
How to:
Always run Sword/Focus (cause swiftness), with 3 readied mantras (12% extra damage), when engaging, before entering batlle, cast Phantasmal Berserker (GS) and then swap to Sword/Something and fight normal. Shatter your clones to finish the batlle.
Attention: Carefully pick the mantras u want, for Orr for example, run Stability, Condition Removal and Daze.
Tip 1: Daze will probly be the BEST mantra, cause u can interrupt big attacks and get QUICKNESS at same time.
Tip 2: Always Dodge, creating aditional clones can get u specific AoE and single target effects, like interrupt and burst damage.
Despite being a Phantasm build, try using the best of the Shatter skills, cause in normal PvE almost never they will attack twice.
Conclusion: Be independant, Be Group, u have a LOT to add.

DETAILED GUIDE
Always start off with GS, start your full rotation of abilities (2,4,3) if they know what they are doing the will close distance, let them in close after they try and hit you with ability use dodge (making 3rd clone) and shatter mind wrack. Push them back with ability 5 and now 2 should be back up use that as well, now switch to S/P and use 3. Again dodge will be up dodge attack (now have 3 clones use distortion) Use distortion then use 4. Next use 5 to stun, when stun breaks and they attempt to unload dmg (they will be desperate now) use number 2 to continue dmg and be unhitable. When it ends dodge and use decoy, well using decoy repostion far away switch back to GS and shatter what is up (should have three clones out.) Your next hit is 100% guaranteed crit. REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT. Note that you number 7 ability gives you 2 free clones, I use this when I mess up or need to break stun, I shatter them with 4th shatter that will give you vigor, but feel free to play them as you see fit. 8 is for tankies or anyone with lots of boons and or using conditions on you. 9 is for again if I messed up along the way or want to attempt a 1v2.

My Mesmer is a typical berserker’s build but has a few changes…
WEAPONS:
- Double ‘Berserkers’ Swords
: One with superior sigil of accuracy
: One with superior sigil of bloodlust
- One ‘Berserkers’ Great sword
: One superior sigil of accuracy
: One superior sigil of hobbling (needed for ‘skill 4’ especially if enemies are fleeing from you)
SKILLS:
Since I have low vitality and toughness, I need to survive my battles so all my skills are basically stealth skills
- Decoy
- Veil
- Blink (to run from enemies temporarily)
Elite – Mass invisibility (but if you are battling a thief it is best you use ‘Polymorph Moa’ to stop them from using stealth skills)
ARMOUR:
You can if you choose, use berserker’s armour, but I highly recommend against it. Berserker’s armour can increase your power drastically, however with sigil of bloodlust that much power is not required, but precision is needed, therefore I recommend ’Assassin’s armour stats’ with ‘ruby orbs’
TRAITS:
Domination: 4
- III
- X
Dueling: 6
- I (to increase blink distance, extremely important)
- X
- XII
Chaos: 4
- I
- VII
ACCESSORY:
2 rings: Berserker’s (ascended preferably) ‘Ruby’
1 Accessory: Assassin’s (no ascended) ‘Opal’
2 Amulets: Berserker’s (ascended preferably) ‘Ruby’
Back piece: Book of Secrets

1. spam mantra of pain to heal party and phantasms and for damage
2. spam dodge to keep passive healing
3. never use signet
4. make sure to time staff phase retreat through null field and chaos storm to maintain chaos armor.

1. Works like staff GS shatter mesmer with great power and added condis plus added phase retreat from staff.
2. Optimizes staff abilities by optimizing chaos armor and makes for less passive combat when using staff—you will have chaos armor up the majority of the fight with staff.
3. Use Null field/phase escape sparingly to remove conditions and maintain chaos armor—also you now have your chaos storm/phase, chaos armor and time warp/phase to keep chaos armor up back-to-back the majority of the fight (you should have chaos armor up every time you are using staff and allow enemy to hit you as long as you can keep chaos armor goin—if you can sustain the damage.)
4. Use phase Retreat through veil to gain retaliation.
5. Berzerkers and spam skills do a lot of damage with stacks of vulnerability, as well as your shatters.
6. Mobility and condition removal slightly harder with this build than normal traits.
7. Great for roaming with a group with blasts and your 3 different fields to provide chaos armor—and not too shabby anywhere else either if you practice (get enemy down to half life just spamming chaos armor the whole time they chase and hit you—then bring out the heavy shatters and berzerkers).
Let me know any input. =)
thanks,
Graey

Hello. Been having success with a small change from blackdevils 2 4 6 2 0 build. Just moving the 2 from Dom into dueling line creates higher crit/damage. Haven’t done the math but seems better more spike damage.

Hello everyone this is a PvP build I have been working on for the Mesmer. This is a phantasm build with the much needed condition removal, survivability through invisibility and stun breaks, and finally good damage. Now this is my first build I have created myself so I would appreciate the comments of both criticisms and complements, thanks!

P.S. The survivability of the build comes from the conservation of your stun breaks, condition removal, and heal so DO NOT JUST SMASH BUTTONS!

a build i created. give it a shot tell me what you think.
if you need condi cleanse switch the 2 to condi cleanse on heal. and you can swap the signet for mantra cleanse.. should be more then enough..
if you have good support from your team and want to melt people even faster swap staff for greatsword and keep up gs clones.
This mesmer is extremely hard to hit.

It is used in a cycle: {begin} Illusionary Leap —> Blurred Frenzy—> Dodge—> Dodge—>The Prestige—>…
(note: try to blind them with the prestige)
…—>Phantasmal Mage—> Phantasmal Disenchanter—> Mimic —> Illusionary Leap —> …
(note: the Phantasmal Disenchanter is used to trigger the block on mimic)
…—>Blurred Frenzy —> Dodge—> Weapon Swap —> Illusionary Counter—> Dodge—> Dodge—> Decoy —> (dispel mimic) —> Phantasmal Duelist —> Magic Bullet —> {repeat whole process from beginning}
This way you remove conditions adequately and are fairly uninhabitable. When used right you may even be able to 2 vs 1 or better. The key is to not mix up the chain. Also, use whatever amulet or rune you like.
Have fun!
TPVP MESMER CONDI:

Here’s a condi mesmer TPvP build I’ve been testing out and it’s been pretty successful. It’s a modification of the a “sensotix” (sp?) build a friend gave me awhile back which looks similar to the current condi build that’s being used now for Mesmers in TPVP.
Basically its played like the other clone death condition build, but its a little more skillful because you have to try to get the interrupts. So if you like daze mesmer, this condi build might be good for you. It’s hella op with a 3 second haste that has 15 second cooldown paired with chaotic interruption to immobilize and throw another random condition for each interrupted enemy. I find this build an incredibly versatile team playing condition mesmer. I can almost always have quickness up when a teammate goes down for quick rez or an enemy goes down for a quick stomp because i can just hit daze shatter, throw chaos storm or shoot magic bullet (2.6 second stun on target with sigil) at rezzing or stomping/cleaving enemies and get an interrupt almost every time.
The final utility slot is left open for whatever. i personally use the condi cleansing mantra but nullfield works too.
I’ve actually only been playing this for the last few hours and team pvp, but I think it has great potential. Feel free to message me with constructive criticism on improving the build or just let me know how it goes for you.
Well, I’m a trendkitten, so I roll ’zerker armor.
I carry a greatsword as a main weapon.
Staff backup for PvE, and a focus for WvW roaming.
My utility skills are:
Mirror Images
Feeback
Null Field
And depending on the situation, I use Hounds of Balthazar or Mass Invisibility as an elite.
My Traits are
6 Domination
-Rending Shatter
-Shattered Concentration
-Greatsword Training
6 Illusion
-Master of Misdirection
-Illusory Elasticity
-Maim the Disillusioned
2 Inspiriation
-Medic’s Feedback
I’m an awkward mesmer. Zerker armor with Superior Mercy runes.
I don’t raid, I barely fractal, and I suck beyond words at PvP and WvW.
But I try, and that’s what counts.
I’ve recently started playing WvW a little more. I’ve gone through so many builds and feel completely underwhelmed by most of them. This is the one I’ve been most excited about lately. Do you think this will still be viable after the upcoming changes to PU/clone death/etc? Thoughts? Strengths/weaknesses?
Scepter/Focus
Sword/Torch
Decoy/Veil/Blink or Decoy/Veil/Feedback – MI for Elite

4 (V)(X)
6 (V)(VII)(XII)

I’m really struggling on what Adept and Master traits to use for Chaos…
Feedback welcome!

Wvw being solo, havoc or zerging?

Wvw being solo, havoc or zerging?
Almost always duo team w/warrior
If that’s the case, looks good. Dire+stealth will make you extremely tough to beat even on your own. If you have problems initially though switch scepter focus to staff or play around with the combination itself. With the up-coming changes it will be less effective however, but the torment on AA and with a hopeful warden fix sounds good.
With that set-up however you do have plenty of stealth, and changing decoy to blink should be okay if you find you need more combat repositioning tools when fighting larger groups.
(if you want more condition pressure, invest in some rabid gear or trinkets which will work wonders with your duelist and warden).

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it!
