Wow I can’t believe what I just read.

I didn’t think I would get upset about this issue AGAIN, but the way the mesmer class has been treated compared to our class is just so night and day I got fired up again.

I made a thread awhile back asking for clarification, a statement, a CLEAR answer from ANet on the state of QZ+SB 1 speed, as many rangers noticed an extreme delay (much more than 7% advertised) in the synergy of these two.

That thread stayed on page 1 for several days but recieved no response.

“Whatever, ANet’s ‘community relation’ team sucks/understaffed/overworked”

But then I wake up to see THIS:

Not one but TWO threads given special response from JohnPeters himself, THE DAY AFTER THE PATCH.

Its been what, 2 months since the SB “fix”? With NO clear indication outside of “uh we wanted to nerf cuz no fun to spam 1” whether it was functioning properly?

Yet Mesmers notice a delay and its IMMEDIATELY investigated with IMMEDIATE responses and NUMBERS and CLARITY about delay and even FIXED.

I mean I was always on the side of the camp that thought people who said “devs dont play rangers and dont love us” were eccentric and dramatic.

But holy kitten do I feel like that right now.

The devs aren’t bad, they are a bit annoying with how quite they can be (why makes sense though), but they aren’t bad.
GW2 was released half finished so they are kittening overloaded with things to do atm making little, working, things not the biggest priority.

I’ve seen far worse dev teams in every way.
If anything the random push for outing the game on august 28th was the worst thing to happen to GW2, it stopped PvP from evolving into a better setup and meta… it stopped PvP from being released, for the most part, bug free and with the required tools, it stopped the developers from being able to focus on the after release balancing/perfecting since they have to catch up on a few dozen things they were supposed to do half a year ago.

Are you working there? Otherwise I must think you are just speculating cause the TO just proved your theory wrong…

How is the fact that they fixed phantasms not working, a bug that made phantasms randomly miss attacks that clearly should have hit… showing favoritism…
That’s comparable to the trap bug that came in after a few patches ago… within a few hours it was reverted and devs commented saying it was all allright…

Shortbow was a dmg nerf, the weapon got hit from being something you could run around spamming at anyone and win most fights to a more condition weapon. The ranger class is such a mess with power based weapons since there are good specs floating around… if you spec into pet dmg and run 2 birds you can pull off 10-15k spikes in a few seconds, spikes near undodgeable because of the bird’s quarky animations… its brutal.
Fixing the class isn’t as simple as bumping up a few dmg numbers. It will take allot of changes and testing (since that’s the type of dev team Anet has shown themselves to be, slow but progressive) and with everything else that needs doing and the holiday season coming up that probably isn’t going to happen too soon.
As they said.

There are more important things than making rangers top tier viable, they have to actually pull a game out of the gutter after it was launched with hundreds of bugs and no competitive PvP.

I just wish we wern’t led on and you know they could of said “Sorry the updates you were expecting got delayed a little bit but fret not we haven’t forgot you. Our mistake.” or better communication in general. even if they just pounded on the keyboard like so “a;kjsdhflakudjsaljkdshg ;awoeut” so we know that they are here.

Ranger aren’t a FotM class.

They have to please the mass, and the mass don’t play Ranger/Engineer/Necromancer.

They play FotM class. Since Warrior and Guardian are balanced, they don’t post.

But Thief/Elem/Mesmer get a crazy amount of communication from Dev.

Just check the Elem forum, they had like 4 threads for them this week. Live debug also.

Necro AI minions are bugged since release, they didn’t get a single word about it.

I just wish we had more communication on non-FotM sub forum.

All he or “someone” had to do was come in here after the last patch and make a statement. The longer something like that takes, the quicker the constructive discussion goes down the tubes until people are left with a perminent bad taste in their mouthes.
Read through his thread, note the dates, and watch how it deteriorates. More importantly, note all the numerous threads which has contained tons of constructive feedback to help the devs.
Rangers are one of the classes that needs the most improvement. Something that he said himself. Yet we’re creeping up on a month with zero communication in the Ranger forums and 2 months of waiting for any decent fixes….

Honestly, how long does it take to type a paragraph or two to keep your player base from giving up on the game? Unless you are typing with your feet, I’m going to say it shouldn’t take long at all.

Because it’s his JOB. When I use to work retail, I would have people in my face sometimes, I can’t just walk away and not help, it’s my job to answer their questions and to assist them.

If he had ponied up and apologized instead of giving a lame excuse then that would have been more acceptable…Look, I’m not looking for an argument because this horse has been beaten to death and we’re still kicking the carcass around, but I’ll ask you to do one thing, then come back here and answer me if you honestly feel like we where treated equally to all the other classes that you see him post in.

Because it’s his JOB. When I use to work retail, I would have people in my face sometimes, I can’t just walk away and not help, it’s my job to answer their questions and to assist them.

Necros are just as neglected as us, yes, and as ignored as us yes,

but rangers are straight up ABUSED by the devs.

To be honest, I do not believe the devs are that bad, and I certainly do not believe they are “discriminating” against Ranger.

However, due to the wonky balance of Rangers in a game where Warriors can use all the weapons of Ranger and more (save for Shortbow), I do understand they’re very cautious about their replies because everything they say goes on the Dev Tracker!

I used to think that too Kain, but look at this thread. Look at the feedback and communication in the other class forums and then ours.

Akisame has the best post so far, and he should be the OP. I have only rage, and poor mind to paper skills.

Games hate admitting that they completely kittened up.
Anet completely kittened up on their release schedule, and now they either have to comment on 90% of the “DO THIS NOW” threads saying “sorry we are working on something that should have been in at launch and don’t want to do any major changes in that area of the game since the game is playable in those regards and we don’t want the chance of any more major issues with regards to that until we have more manpower to ensure that the patch is well tested and entirely progressive” that or just be quite.
Neither are good options, both are going to piss people off, being quiet stops the chance at posts being brutalized by the forums as they rave about how they are doing things wrong, even from implications (intended or not)….
Its a more conservative approach but you can’t expect tooo much more from a company.

Well to the guy that mentions Mesmer Phantasims missing, a bug that needed fixing for sure and fast…

Rangers have had a bug since before beta that at times prevents them from hitting ANYTHING with a bow…

I can have a target in range and miss every skill, or that one skill that may have alowed me to win, fix it please.

If their AI was fixed they would be blatantly OP.
A reliable on command aoe fear and immobilize in addition to 2~k dmg 2s knockdown and consistent 800~ auto attacks… that would be ridiculous…

Birds are also really good.

Spiders are decent, felines are decent.

A fair number of pets are underpowered or buggy but that’s not really a major issue since there are still many working good pets.

And Jaguars. Don’t forget Jaguars.

And I agree, but unlike phantasm delays, pet pathing and AI aren’t something that can be fixed by doing stopwatch tests and changing some variables.

Canines can kitten up an extremely good number of enemies if you know how to help set up their knockdowns, use their aoe fear/imob well and interrupt their stuff when you know it is wasted.

funny thing is i still dont think its class favortism, i think its more or less they are not 100% sure how to fix the things involving ranger since they were never working to begin with, mezmers they went from working to being broken…. we never had any of our issues in a “working” state… to paint this in another picture, mezmers went from living in a house to living on the street to back in their house. we were always living in the street and dont know what it would be like to be living in a house. im not sure what the aim of this whole thread is really, but if anyone else wants to join me for a moldy bread sandwitch that was found in the trash, and stand around the burning barrel come join me and we can talk about what it would be like if we lived in a house and had any thing working currectly for us at anypoint

I wrote posts in a few of them, shortly after the “patch” of 7 October that broke the Shortbow; an answer never came. Most threads about this were simply deleted.

So yes, today, 7 December, it’s exactly two months since the QZ + SB bug was introduced. Not a word on it this bug from the developers. Ever. They only stated some things on the adjusted attack speed of the shortbow. A statement which (i) ignored the effects on highly reduced bleed stacks, and (ii) ignored the effect on QZ.

Never, ever, did anyone from Arenanet post anything on the QZ bug.

Longbow/Shortbow need buffs, pets need buffs, sword needs a fix…

And the guy who was supposed to be devving for us is over fixing mesmers.

But hey, at least we can contribute underwater now.

There was a specific thread in the Elementalist forum complaining about how many developer posts there had been on the Ranger forum when they barely had any dev posts on that forum. And complaining about the fact that the Ranger trap cooldown bug was fixed immedietly when the Elementalist bugs introduced by the last patch (missing finishers and the like) were not even acknowledged at the time.

And while I don’t recall a seperate thread on the subject, I remember a few complaints on the Engineer forum about how Ranger had a lot of dev interaction in general while Engineer hadn’t had a dev reply in more than a month.

The grass is always greener in another forum :p

Engineers and elementalists have nothing to whine about. Engineers are fun as hell to play, and elementalists have at least one extremely viable build.

Also, their classes aren’t even close to being as crippled as rangers are. Not to mention the last time a dev did post on these forums, it was full of empty promises.

I cannot disagree with what you are saying. Just saying that it’s probably pretty uncomfortable for him but agree he should suck it up since much of this was caused by extremely poor communication.

Agree totally. Not saying he shouldn’t do what’s right. Just saying that this is the forum where he faces the most criticism and much of that bed was made by him.

I personally believe that there’s been a gag order put on JP not to communicate with this forum until the next patch or until the powers that be pull that order. Anything he says will probably get flamed unless it’s an ETA with specific fixes that we have all been waiting for. He’s can do no right in this forum right now so why make things worse. Don’t go in and make things worse if you can’t definately make things better. We will not be hearing from him until after the next major Ranger patch, if there is one.
