What: Stealth
Why: It is apparently still OP. And…I must be a troll who didn’t like the various nerfs that took me away from total god/goddess mode… (god/dess? Or god-like? Meh.)

Whoever is defending the stealth system in GW2, is either trolling, or didn’t like the various nerfs that took him some steps away from total god-mode. The stealth system that is still far away from being fixed.

All I did was sneak over to the ranger forum to look for a good opponent. ._.

It’s amazing what numbers people can pull out of their kitten these days, next dagger storm needs to last 1.5 seconds because it reflects projectiles for too long O.o

God I could have sworn there was another class with a one healing skill that did that. Though it was toned down, considering it was only one skill.

Can you not see how this is utterly broken?
To be honest I don’t acually mind having such a thing on thief because thief requires at lot of skill to be played competetively but the problem is that even tho the thief uses a lot of trait points to improve his “steal” ability in order to improve his survivability he still deals a ridiculous amount of dmg by double procs (air-fire, fire-blood)
Suggestion:
1.) Add counterplay to steal (you can only predict it atm)
2.) Remove some effects of steal – or – nerf double procs but make up for the nerfs by buffing other things on classes (not thief) that rely on these procs to have sustained dmg

Yeah as much as I found that thread more legitimate than others, he’s still crying more than anything. The thief essentially becomes a one trick pony at that point. Plus his two suggestions aren’t exactly “hey let’s change this for the better” and more like “hey please fix my problem, I’m not sure how though” (first point).

- Add a real cast time (as OP suggested). 0.25s isn’t a real cast time, it literally just makes the skill not able to be used as a psuedo-stunbreak.
- Remove the healing it provides (at least on downed people). Currently, SR is like a short Elixir R, in addition to the whole stealth thing and being a dark field.
- No longer able to drop at range, simply a player-based skill so that there is risk to dropping this on a team-mate (besides lost CD).

It seems to be unblockable as well.
No other profession has a skill that can do this much crippling damage to a player. Mesmer has moa which is unblockable but it is also an elite.
At least give steal a tell so people can dodge it , maybe even a slower teleport that shows a trail or how about change the skill so it can only be used in melee( makes perfect sense to add a tiny bit of realism into a fantasy game) . So far its just luck and uncanny anticipation. Anet nerfed point blank shot, so why not this?

What: Shadow Refugee
Why: So it’s totally unfair when a thief uses SR as a decoy for AoE fields. As in the thief drops down SR but doesn’t enter it – maybe instead they use another stealth skill – leaving the SR field empty and people will AoE the empty field. This is totally not fair, an SR should be changed/nerf.
Suggestion: Make the center (where the little house icon is) of the SR field be “attached” to the thief, as in it will move the whole field with the thief.

Too much work for 1 day… plus then you have to revert back (snapshots? branches? version-ing?).

But don’t worry, over time I’m sure that a lot of these things will come true, and it won’t have to be for April fools either! It will be permanent changes too.

I bet you anything that Caltrops will receive the same treatment as Choking Gas.

At the same time, I think some of the changes that they make is through “RNG” -

  1. They flip a coin, heads is traits, tails is skills.
  2. They create an unsorted list of either traits or skills depending on the previous result.
  3. They then flip a coin, heads means take the first half of the list, tails means take the second half of the list.
  4. Continue step 3 until you have 1 skill/trait selected.
  5. They then roll a die, 1,2,3 is a buff and 4,5,6 is a nerf. (Special modifier for thieves; 6 is a buff and 1,2,3,4,5 is a nerf)
  6. They then roll another die to see which kind of nerf/buff it is, for instance it’s a nerf and we land a 6, that means increase the cooldown by 10%, or a 5 means decrease damage by 5.
  7. Repeat steps 1-6, until enough changes are made to look like a patch.

See if you apply this algorithm enough times, statically it will give you a “balance” between nerfs and buffs.

Yep…10 seconds of EVERY BOON IN THE GAME is too OP. It should be nerfed to inflict confusion and torment on the thief when they steal off a mesmer.

So, a lot of people come to the thief forums to open up a topic on a particular skill/thing they want nerfed. So I thought I would create a post were you can post what you want nerfed and why. For instance, say I wanted to nerf their crafting speeds, it would be the following post:

They already ninja nerfed our speed signet, without even saying anything. 2 ninja nerfs on our endurance regens. Log in first nerf, hmm I can’t dodge 3 times in a roll anymore. 2nd nerf hmm it’s taking about .5-1 sec longer for me to spam that 3rd dodge. How do I know each nerf I’m pounding aa dd ss ww ee qq anyone of those an extra time.

They even made us do an 180 about face when we spam 222222 now. WTF????

No, to the runes of the krait – I don’t even know what “needs to be telegraphed” means

Oh I meant the thread “Steal needs to be telegraphed”… Why would steal be nerfed because of the krait post? I feel like i’m missing something here… you need to use an elite skill to trigger the effect, the only one that wont break stealth is basilisk, but even then the effect of the ruin has 45 second CD… o.O or am i completely wrong?

English = second language – the telegraphed thread makes no sense to me ;)
The person complaining about the krait runes is in fact complaining about steal.

Edit: Basilisk venom, CnD while steal, Mug (poison) + possibly sleight of hand.

Ah! Thanks. Well, I’m not sure if the OP of that thread knows that combo, and even if he does he sure didn’t really explain himself well… Hence that thread came off as just another cry/rage thread.
