2 quick points:
1) Just because I have to be fair to everyone, I will also point out that those are tactics to make people respawn and prevent Corpse Scouting.
2) All you can see Action-wise are the Emotes, so it’s entirely out of context. While I will admit many of them are likely being jerks, you cannot say it was the intent of all.

What you’re seeing in the field is just as often people bored and trying to have fun the same as you. There will always be low-class people who don’t understand respect and good fun, but if you judge a group based on the worst, all you’re doing is prompting them to be the same. Do you truly want your entire Server judged on the Exploiters? On your own people who have danced on my dead body after swarming me? On the people with horrible tactics who make me sigh before wiping them? Every Server has them, and for every Server it’s not the “Average” person…It’s simply a portion of the whole population.

I’ve done some corpse desecration in my time, Fallentes, and it’s great fun, but also situational. Yes, I’m arrogant sometimes. I won’t dance on just any corpse: Only the corpses that I judge to truly deserve it.

For instance, if you’re corpse-spying on my army, I’m going to desecrate you. But, if I lead a group to victory in a more or less fair fight, I’m probably too concerned with planning and commanding than bothering to sit on your dead face. Or, maybe not. Maybe I’m AFK for bio-break, and the enemy’s grave looked cozy enough for while I’m gone.

Perhaps I recognize the character or guild tag, and I want to anger, amuse, or distract them. I may simply need their entrails to finish decorating an Endexa Ram for the upcoming alliance sacrificial gathering.

I agree with the rest of your post, and yes… likewise in-game have also been subject to by many servers, and seen fellow server mates do the disrespect on here, and Darkhaven. Personally speaking, and I could even speak on behalf of many I play with (one of the large guilds), it’s not the case to the server as a whole.

Yes, there are some out there … and all we can do in game or in vent (if the guild is in vent, or someone gets out of hand), is call them out and take issue. It’s pathetic. Happens though, everywhere. 90% of the players however … do not play in this manner. I find it tends to be younger players who think t-bag and trolling is funny.
Reality is, it’s only in their make belief heads (it’s actually pretty sad and weak, and I’m a game dev). I know grown ups tend to hold a bit more integrity (and maturity level, not all but 99% I have experienced with). But that too is subject to my criticism and a generalization. Whenever it happens, regardless of guild, server or whatever, just call them out. It adds 0 value to the game and community.

Outside of that, keep the discussion rolling. 2 things on the table, still curious to know about

1. Why did AL back out from garrison last night?

well i could always just call out each and every person who doesn’t read chat when we say incoming or those that B line it to SM when we’re losing towers.. i think pug is a much nicer way of going about it instead of calling people out. It’s not like i don’t teach, but i see people doing the exact thing i ask them not to and i see people repeating that same thing over and over… so i just say oh well the pugs aren’t listening today and work with what i have.

I agree with all of the replies to my post and I appreciate the civility this thread has maintained. I wasn’t blaming a server as a whole and that’s why I said it could just be a few tainting the reputation of the masses. As Hexin pointed out, I wanted to call out what I’ve seen and point out that no server or guild is innocent in my experience. There have been some posts saying “we don’t do that,” and I’m calling shenanigans. Not boasting in forums does not negate actions in-game, and saying “none of us do this or that” is the same as saying “all of you do this or that.” Every server and guild has their trolls, and I think we are all in agreement to avoid extreme statements of blame or denial.

@Shaka – you are right, you have every right to post whatever you want. You also have the right to play the game in whatever matter you find fun. I don’t want to tread on either of those things and I’ll drop it.

It will do nothing to stop the problem of guilds transferring to lower rank servers. It actually encourages it by making it cheaper to transfer to a lower population / lower tier server.

The paid transfers are nothing more then a way for Anet to make some extra $$$ and it has nothing to do with fixing this problem or the over looked and obvious flaw in their game. Think about it, is $10 every 2 months or even month enough to stop the guilds that can’t hack it in the upper tiers from transferring ? No, it just punishes those who would want to switch servers for honest and real reasons. I’m appalled Anet is doing this, making us pay for their ignorance and oversight.

@Hexin Well, actually, the golem was me too. I had a thing going with a guildie to see how far I could walk it under the current conditions. I got a lot farther than I thought I would. I build them on occasion when I’m bored, because a) they are cool and b) I have a lot of them in my bag so why not have fun with them. As far as sending more people, the reason the one got through was a timing issue on my part, I let it get too close to the garrison, but after 6 hours of it, I was getting sloppy.
I have bled for Anvil Rock as much as anyone and will continue to do whatever it takes to give them a fighting chance, unless I get really bored, then I’ll just run off somewhere and build a treb and beat on a building until I get a second wind.
And I did catch one /bow in the exchange, but I was busy checking the soil content at the time.

I kinda take a different ‘belief’ on the transfers. I think guilds will slowly* start balancing out. Alot of players don’t want to continually fund transfers for the purposes people do transfer. Once in a while, yes … people will, but not to the extent that transfers occur today.

It will slightly mitigate transfers, over the next 3 months… and ‘might’ impact lower server population. Mass planned moves of 400+ though… will not be happening as much.

Slight changes to processes make large impacts to game culture & economies. Have some faith.

From now until the 28th though, I would be expecting a spike in transfers. Current scouts, newer people whose passion is wvw but they look at a wvw map and run. And keep running. Endlessly looking for battle? There should be an uptick over the next 12 days.

I wish I could see costs though, would be great to see something to the tune of 500 gems upwards. I didn’t do the math but roughly 10g to move account to lowest server seems reasonable upwards of 25G for higher tiered. My suggestion would be higher (10G per tier up) than that, but given a forum, I’ll keep it low. 25G is nothing to scoff at for people who only play a few hours a night. I certainly do not power trade, and fall into a general player base who couldn’t make that every week.

Anet gave the reminder for a reason. Ensure you are where you want to be. There are going to be guys who will get ‘screwed’… I would claim these to be scouts out and about from popular servers, that get caught in the influx and cannot get back.

Also I find the EU / NA reasonable but sucks. It’s unfortunate we didn’t all play on a united front. It was a welcomed update for me.

That was awesome, my first thought when I saw it was ‘guys who has supply on them’ Gar has 0… still… can we get a golem up. Yup, wanted to see if there was at all a slight shot. Then I just watched, I knew what it kinda entailed. I get the I’m tired let’s go find something fun to do also. We were just above to leave the map too, and I mentioned hang on guys… give it 5 minutes, I think that was there way to finish the night in style. I get that Treb-way once in a while, downtime… see if I can get one up, and see how long it will last before a party comes to wipe it.

You did a great job on the yaks. Seriously gj there. Yes, I was continually bound, and you always* got the yak down in the nick of time. To the point we just expected the supplies to remain 0 on yaks and deal with supply elsewhere, and leave the garrison down. Battles were enjoyable enough as is. GJ

Not likely! What would we do? “OK, EVERYONE READING THIS, GO TO CITADEL.” I’m great at following orders on the field, but if it were given in the pejorative, “I’m the boss and you’re ignorant” way that happens too often, I might ignore that order and stand right next to you, being as useless as possible—maybe kill an eagle gryphon.

It’s a far more dynamic problem than simply “they aren’t reading it” or “they aren’t listening to me.” Also, many commanders seem to exclude themselves from criticism, thus rendering themselves unaware of perhaps half of the potential reasons for why “the pugs” aren’t “listening.”

There are many reasons why any given PuG may not follow you or play the game well, but being a “pug” is not, in and of itself, the reason.

I’ve been out there everynight and I usually go to Kaineng BL. Unfortunately, there have been fewer and fewer of us going there. Of all the servers AR has faced since the inception of this game, Kaineng is the only one where I do not hesitate for an instant to charge solo into a group of 3-5 and attack. I do that with a full expectation of surviving. I’m out there solo a lot and if I see 3 or 4 NSP, I’m running. Not so, Kaineng. There is no question that in terms of individual ability, speaking of the majority, Kaineng is by far the worst we’ve faced. There are exceptions to that statement but they are few and far between.

What makes Kaineng so dangerous is that our “huge” zerg of 10-15 can engage a Kaineng zerg of 30-40 that within a minute is reinforced by another zerg of 50. They just never stop coming.

So this group of 3-5 that you don’t hesitate to attack, did you take note of their real levels? Did you take note of their gear?

This week we have a lot of people running alts in wvwvw for exp and karma. Maybe your achievement isn’t as grand as you like to think.

The problem is that they’re so used to hearing stuff like that from low Tier Servers moving quickly up the Tiers that they still hear it even though it’s not being done! We must forgive the mix-up, it is understandable.

I think this answers something for me. I really don’t read these forums much so maybe that is why I DON’T see Kaineng “chest thumping” (because I haven’t “heard” about all those other servers doing it).

Personally I am looking forward to seeing Kaineng and a little concerned with their Oceanic presence. Their Oceanic presence reminds me of Dragonbrand and Dragonbrand runs up the points during North America night time. Not complaining, just stating a fact.

Apparently you weren’t around in medieval times, Dhampyr. Master simply denotes the head of a group such as scholars, artisans, etc. But, yes, this thread has been derailed. Rather like a dogpile, it just happened.

Wow, that chat log is just awful. How did you happen to get yourself into that much trouble alone? I mean, I’ve seen both servers talk about kaineng server numberswin, doesn’t that translate when you are 1, and they are 10 or so?

I bet your very skilled, and 1:1 can do well (maybe take on some paxa at fight club if it occurs)?, but many groups run together in wvw, did they do something wrong there? Is there more to the story I’m missing?

There have been recent rumors that many kaineng guilds are planning to move over to ET. Well, let me be one of the first to tell you that we don’t want you here. Following the kaineng forums closely and having friends on kaineng, I have come to find out that many of the same guilds that wish to move to ET are the same guilds that are causing most of the drama. You have no one to blame for your bad communities but yourselves and wherever you move your attitudes are going to follow. ET has its own trolls and we honestly don’t need any more. We will come back from the ashes and rebuild our server with the people who choose to come here with an open mind and a willingness to help and learn from one another. The sad fact is, the kaineng you knew and loved is gone, but it’s your own fault. We are not against people moving here, but we are against guilds such as yours.

Fair enough. I like seeing zergs go down to smaller and more coordinated attacks, no matter what side. I feel like people learn to watch and coordinate more from the experience (hopefully). Still appreciate all the awesome fighting going on from NSP and AR, you guys have tenacity in spades.
