I do so enjoy reading these posts and watching the ANet staff getting frustrated with the community, I really do and would love to see more of it. It shows that they are real people with real emotions when dealing with real problems.

Gaile, out of all the game forum staffers of any game I’ve played, you are now my favorite.

And no, I’m not being sarcastic. I am 100% serious about this. I wish more forum moderators actually treated others like real people, other then give out cold, robotic, cookie cutter responses like I usually see.

Okay well Gaile has actually managed to calm me down a bit now, it does help when you have someone like this interfacing with the public. I just hope I actually get compensated for that disconnection I worked ages for that and honestly I’m tired of fighting and being disappointed. I have to agree about Gaile! Even in GW1 she was the Lady who handles all our problems with a epic attitude. Even after she left the field of CR and RB took over Gaile continues to help out through FB and stuff. Gaile and Froggy always were great at what they do, and if looks say anything then they still are the best at CR! TY Gaile for outstanding work.

Even though you guys got it figured out how to distribute these chest, the easiest solution would of prolly been to check everyone that had the 20 slotted Karka box, and well they don’t get another chest, just the others. The fact that people who didn’t participate, that should be easy enough on your end to see also. Just look for every account that used the ship for first time access to the Island.

Being as positive as I can be I think alot of us should be ashamed of the posts here. This is a sensitive issue and I am not saying anyone is wrong for being angry but really… relax! The sheer volume of players and guests that were on during that event is mind boggling and yet Anet is trying to do the right thing just like they always do! Not at all trying to give a pass here I think Anet did make some mistakes but what alot of people are not recognizing is that in a situation where Anet could easily say tough their devs are busting their butts to make it right. How many subscription based games would do the same? Good luck to everyone I really do hope you guys get your chests and a pre cursor at this point. And thanks to everyone at Anet for going above and beyond for your fans again!

I feel the same way, most we can do is hope we atleast get something and if not keep complaining. I just can’t believe people who hadn’t logged on for days are getting them, that’s a real kick in the face.

I can’t believe that, either, Kurama — in fact I do not believe it. Talking to the people involved in the creation of the script, I just don’t see how an account that wasn’t even logged in — at all! — could get a chest. I would like to hear from someone who was in that situation, who flat out states, “I did not log into the game during the entire event, and yet I got a chest.”

• We have plenty of reports of people who got a chest who earned it.
• We know of players who did not receive the chest, and we’re working on that.
• We have a few reports of people who got a second chest. (No, to answer the question, do not expect a second chest if you got one — those who got a second got it in error, but we’re not going to take it away, nor are we giving out “second helpings” to everyone. )
• I don’t know of anyone who flat-out did not earn the chest who got one. I’d love to hear from that person!

But you know one big problem. they are over 9 pages long with over 400 replies {merged} threads far too much work to look through them.. :p

Oh and the script.? i suspect that was 2 guys sitting in a room with a list of accounts flipping a coin… heads you get one tails you don’t….. RNG rules :p

ETA: I realized after I posted this that the devs are already aware of the mailbox capacity issue.

I discovered something last night that I think may be of help in tracking down the issue.

I logged in and saw that I didn’t have the chest, and my mailbox was not full – I was only at 50% of capacity. I figured since I had my mail open anyway, I might as well clear out some messages I didn’t need to keep.

When I started clearing out the messages, more messages instantly appeared to replace them (at a one-to-one ratio, so not just a coincidence) even though my box wasn’t reading as full in the first place. One of those replacement messages was the karka reward.

Is it possible that the problem might involve the script perceiving the recipient mailbox as full even if it isn’t? Because I’m fairly sure that happened with my account, so it may have happened to others. Just a thought.

So if I understand correctly, ANet’s plan for fixing this major event screwup and script screwup is:

1) Players who were hopping between servers opening several chests – get one more chest on their mail
2) Several players who didn’t login during the entire weekend – get one chest on their mail
3) Players who d/c during the event – get one chest after having to almost scream for it in tickets & forum
4) Players who were busy or in the “wrong” timezone at the time of the event – get nothing
5) Players who played most of the weekend but were discouraged by either the lag, the buggy NPCs or the cancelled Saturday events and ended up not logging at a specific time on Sunday – get nothing

Is it just me, or is this amazing?

I had a wrong ban for “botting, macros, extended unattended play or some other means of automating the gameplay” that caused me to miss the entire event while my issue got resolved fairly quickly compared to others it still made me miss the entire event.

I was there on the one time halloween event and I never miss those type of events do I have a chance to get the chest? Since again I did nothing of that sort I got my account unbanned with no items missing whatsoever.

We are looking into this matter. We initially believed that anyone who earned a chest surely would receive one, and that is why the email refers to clearing the mailbox. We believed yesterday that the list was complete and all earned chests were distributed. However, we have noted continued questions about the matter and we are not discounting that there may be an issue. The team will get to the bottom of it and I’ll update you when we know more.

Thank you for making a statement on this and actually saying things didn’t work out as intented. I appreciate all the effort you put into this and hope this can be resolved in a good way for all those involved.

Gaile Gray i don’t know what’s going on, but you are giving chests to those who sould not get them, and many of those who should get them are not getting them.

I’ll suggest to just look at those online in that time frame, those who got the gold medal for completing the mid-quests ( ex. repel the reinforcements, escort lionguard demolists), or just give 1 chest per account.
Because this is humiliating and frustating.

For the record : i attended the event ( and i dare any devs to check this up individually for me, and ban me if it is not true) till the end when i got dced, and i want ONE chest.

Support is not supporting anyone, and keep saying me that i have not meet the requirements, when the requirements are probabily something like : let’s take 50% of the account in the whole game and give them the chest.

It’s a very big chest. You need lots of space.

This is me. I didn’t go past the end of part 2 as it was too much for my machine to handle after that. I couldn’t even fight things in south sun as it was too hard more my machine to render or too laggy for me to have a fighting chance.

I wanted to add a note: I don’t see how it is possible — given the coding for the distribution — that someone who did not log into the event at all would have received a chest in yesterday’s distribution. Maybe they forgot they logged in, but the way the distribution was configured persuades me that they did attend and that it why they received the chest.

Let’s be sure we don’t get into “I know a guy who…” discussions, but keep the topic ON topic and relevant to the discussion. If there is an issue, we’ll fix it!

Hi Gaile, thanks for your responses but i have a question relating to this.

As the script was ment to be that all who earned a chest was supposed to get one, how come some people who already looted the initial chest (in some cases more than once via overflows) got sent an extra one? – was this not ment to happen?.

Now for me it’s not a case of me knowing a guy etc, it’s been posted quite a lot from people all over the forum. If this wasn’t ment to happen, will the people who got a mail when they shouldn’t have be required to perhaps delete/refund the extra loot etc? or will it be a case of certain people simply having extra bonus loot over others?.

Gaile, I got a chest even though I did not participate in the final event. I was in Southsun Cove earlier in the weekend and logged in just after the Ancient Karka event ended. After some hesitation I opened it, assuming it was for being in the zone earlier in the weekend (or having gotten my account into Southsun when the even was officially still going on) and just not having the time to participate and/or for responding to the questionnaire that was sent out after the event.

Were any of these reasons to get the chest and if not what should I do with the items i got from it? destroy them?

Actually that would be good, that way they can check what happen in the script, also would be good to find someone who did the event got the chest and got the mail to see what 2 factor are seen them as persons that get the mail. Hopefully people would be good enough to provide that info.

I believe there is nothing to be done, Anet cant take the chest but the info can be used for future events which is good.

So let me see if I’ve got this down. My entire guild, and basically everyone else I’ve seen, gets a second, third, sixth chest, but I do not. What kind of college trainees code for Anet anyways? Everything that happens reeks of amateur failure.

After almost 1,100 hours played (as a ranger, please kill me now) this is the last straw. I can’t do it anymore. Done with the game after this weekend, which sadly is the weekend I’ll be getting a legendary.

Haven’t received the mail too

Me and my wife both attended the event as best as we could based upon the lag issues and d/c problems, I have a screen shot that I sent to a Guildie who was on Skype at the time because he said I was alive, but my screen shot clearly shows me as dead. I have removed all the mails from my EXCEPT for the 4 that I got from the Lost Shores event, I might need some proof that I was online etc, and these mails show that I was around.

We have submitted support tickets, but reading the post from Gaile at the start of this thread indicated that Tickets were not needed. I am on an EU server, and have not received a mail.

I have some screenshots after the ancient karka spawned on the… 2nd? time you had to kill his minions pre boulder event, I didn’t think to take any later. I was at the event until after you forced him back into the cave and the cleared the webs off the explosives. I was killed, I waited 5minutes or so and noone was rezing anyone ,I started to get heavy lag and frame rate issues, i tried to click on the waypoint to respawn and crashed. I had to do a hard reset and tried to get back in I didn’t get the chest and couldn’t log back in let alone find the overflow i was on.

I received a chest and never attended the final event at all. I went to the lost cost once (maybe twice) the day before the final event.

You’re getting lengendary, and on a Ranger, without doubt the best profession in the game. (Yes, I’m serious!)

Don’t give up now. We’ll get this sorted and I really think you’ll continue to enjoy the game, especially with Wintersday coming and more cool things in the future.

The question is : If I (we) have attended the final event, played it for many hours, and crashed at the end of it ( in my case i died , tried do rez trough a wp but infinite loading and then could’nt log in back), am i qualified to get the chest?

I am not asking " Can i have a chest", cause i may be a liar, i may already have got 10 of them, everything you want.

I just ask if actually playing the event count for get the chest, doesn’t matter if today, tomorrow or if in 1 month.
I just ask to know if you value that for giving the chest and we can count that things will be fixed up.

My husband (udoh.5307) posted previously about us missing the loot and the mail and I just wanted to say that I appreciate the effort the GW2 team are doing to rectify this issue and that I am very much looking forward to my loot chest mail. Thanks for your time.

I am not sure on what criteria the redistribution of rewards for this event was decided. I was cheated out of my loot on the day and submitted a ticket. Now I have an email telling me that if I havent received the items by now, I didnt meet the criteria. So what exactly would those criteria be? I spent hours on this event. It was long. it was difficult. It wasnt fun. It was expensive in terms of high repair bills and hardly any loot from anything I killed. I missed the loot chest because I got killed on the spiral ramp by the hordes of little spiders during the final stages. It took so long to fight my way back from the waypoint through the respawns, and the chest was there for such a brief time, just as I ran up to the spot it had disappeared. Do you really think I would have submitted a ticket on this for no reason. Still I have not had any reward for this event. This is very disappointing, and I will most likely keep well away from any similar event in the future. I have no confidence whatsoever that taking part would be worth the effort and frustration.

I have already submitted a ticket and must say I am really pleasantly surprised by the rapid response in acknowledging the ticket and outlining how it will be dealt with going forward. Excellent customer service from that side of things. And thank you also to Gaile for answering queries and giving what updates she can – it is appreciated.

Although its a shame that it has come to such a crisis management situation, I am glad that Anet are doing what they can to repair the situation for those concerned.

For information purposes, I also received a chest in the mail having already gotten one during the event. I did have to disconnect and rejoin several times due to the siren sound bug, but I was able to reconnect in time to see the final cutscene and grab the chest. I did visit overflows other friends were in to see if doubling down was a possibility, but of course I was only able to collect one chest. The last time I disconnected was reasonably close to the end: the server was fighting the final Karka and my game crashed; I was able to come back and was reviving guildmates at the cave entrance so they wouldn’t miss the event. Afterwards, I rushed down the spiral to try to get some hits on the final boss, but I jumped too early and died to fall damage during the “pound the ground to put the karka into the lava” phase. I had participated in the entire dynamic event chain up to this point. I was revived after the end and collected the chest immediately.

So now that it’s been pretty much proven that ALOT of people have been mailed the chest that did NOT attend the final event and are able to keep the chests dosent this cause problems with the entire community?

I mean basically what you have done as a company is given essentially free loot out to some and not others with no differance in criteria. Wont this cause a major issue within the community and leave a bad stain on ArenaNet?

I personally tried attending the event myself but had about 50 unsuccesful attempts at logging in finally managed to get in just as the event ended. However looking at whats happened its kinda clear that you would have no option but to send everyone the karka chest as long as they had an active account at that weekend.

How can you give some that did not attend the event and not others ? kind of a no brainer here

If this isnt done my guess would be a massive customer serivce issue goodluck to solving this one :P I wouldnt want to be in your position right now hehe

After hearing that backdated rewards were finally filtering through I logged on feeling hopeful. I was one of the ones that played the whole event and got disconnected right at the end. But alas, no loot in my mailbox (which is empty).

Read some of the earlier messages, I’m equally as frustrated but I trust they’re doing all they can on the technical end, and Gaile is doing all she can on this end too! Don’t worry I’m sure we’ll be rewarded!

I had opened a support ticket about not getting a chest. Gaile posted that we don’t necessarily need to do that. Is there something that I -should- be doing to get my name on a list of people that should have received it but did not?

I have to echo some of the sentiments here, sadly. I tried to take part in the event, wasn’t able to get in due to repeated DC’s, and now I wait for what is (presumably) going to be support’s cookie-cutter reply to my ticket saying, “you didn’t qualify”.

Which is amusing at best, because I think it’s safe to say, neither did hundreds, perhaps thousands, of players who received the chests already.

I think the smart thing for ANet to have done here would have been to take a page from Trion’s book(River of Souls World Event- remember that one?), and just mail the item out to every account created prior to the event. Could have saved a lot of headache on your end, and a lot of player frustration on our end. I don’t think anyone can look at that idea and say, “that’s no good”.

I find it a bit frustrating that I’m facing the prospect of not getting a reward for an event just because I don’t have a screenshot to prove I was there or trying to get there.
