Audio Problems with all storyline conversations.
Gaile I just did the level 40 Vigil storyline and got a video of all of the cutscenes. I deleted the ones with no audio issues but I have 7 left that have the issue. I will upload them to youtube in the morning so I can post links here. They are all about a minute in length.

First encountered this problem during the 1rst Beta weekend in the new content story mode, but I just realized that it insist on the old story as well.
Random lines in the crappy talking cut-scenes are mute.
Edit: The most common dialogue to be muted in the cutscenes is the first and the last.

Sylvari storyline – Water, Shield of the Moon, Act with Wisdom, Cycle of night, Dignity. Playing as an Elementalist. Definitely missing half or so on that dialog for storyline.
I’m guessing it’s probably happening for all races with any path chosen. It’s always the npc and not my character and it seems pretty random. I’ve noticed that sometimes when Logan does talk, his first few words sound kind of cut off and quiet, then it’s fine.
I’ve been running into this again.
Previously, I was able to correct it by altering the in-game audio quality settings.
I think it will also fix itself if I set the graphical settings to low specs.
But it seems to happen in any audio sequence which is done in the actual game and not one of those personal story cutscene dialog things. Also has a tendency to alternate… that is, one audio line works, the next doesn’t, particularly when they occur immediately after one another.
Have any of you submitted an in-game report on this? Or a Customer Support ticket? It’s far more likely that this will be escalated through those means than through the resurrection of this old forum thread.
On the other hand, I understand the situation: You believe that a recent build did something to cause audio problems. I can let the QA leads know about it, but without more details and the logs that our CS Team might request from you, it may be difficult for them to kitten. A QA rep may post here, or he/she may look for your details in the in-game logs. But thanks for letting us know!

Ya helping my wife do her new sylvari character and all the racial PS(level 10-30) audio isnt there or goes in and out. Mostly its the npcs who dont talk.
This is happening to me as well, on the Asura story line. Any dialog that contains the word “savant” or a variation is missing. Everything else is there.
I played two years ago and quit playing. Just started up again recently.
Because of the break in play this seemed to me like the same bug and it just never got fixed. But if this is really a bug that cropped back up 2 or 3 patches ago, then you’ve fixed it before and maybe it will get squashed for good in one of the upcoming patches.
Having to read subtitles really does kill the RP quite a bit.
I think the audio is always and only missing for dialogue lines, in which a npc adresses my character directly, via a title.
Savant, Initiate, Commander, etc.
edit: I just played the first part of “Temple of the Forgotten God” with german text and audio. During the cinematic with Trahearne, Sayeh and my norn character, the audio was also missing two times.
The first line, spoken by Trahearne “Danke für Eure Geduld, Kommandeur. Erlaubt mir, Euch die verehrte Sayeh al’ Rajihd vorzustellen.”, and the last line, spoken by Sayeh “Interessant. Ich freu mich darauf, Kommandeur. Mögen Eure Schritte bis dahin gnadenlos sein.”
In both lines a npc adresses my character directly via the title Kommandeur.
The audio is missing in other languages too.
I just wanted to provide an update for you all. We’ve been investigating the cause of VO failing to play under certain circumstances, and we think we’ve fixed it in our development environment. We’re now planning some tests to verify if the fix worked. I don’t have an ETA on when a patch would be deployed but I wanted you to know that we’re closer to a resolution. Thanks for your patience and for reporting the issue.
So after I don’t know how many weeks, I decided to run Season 2 LS with my girlfriend. Even though there were several patches between then and now, we still can’t hear every other dialogue from the personal story instances. This is SOOOOO embarrassing for the company, and for the everyone who brought someone into the game. How can you open F2P and expect people to buy the game eventually, when all the players experience, from the early beginning, this audio bug.
This should be NUMBER ONE priority. Not your HoT. – Even that will suffer from this bug.
Focus on maintaining the quality of the game, please. I doubt this kind of things happen in other audio-narrated MMOs.
PS> Pop-up window asking about leaving the instance which shows up with every reached checkpoint is also something that should had been gone for a very long time.

Nope. You are describing a different issue. My issue I described is well-known to ArenaNet at least since August.
Did this chapter yesterday, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore at the beginning was horribly clipped. I’m not sure if it happens anywhere else, but I haven’t noticed it while running around the same non-instanced area (and the clipping is so grating, I’m sure I’d have noticed it).
Any news regarding this patch? My partner recently started playing and encountered this bug around level 50 and now it seems like all dialogue audio is disappearing on her, even the dialogue with the scouts. It’s really putting her off playing.

So even putting in tickets for this and other issues is not garnering help nor even a response in my case – and from what I read around the net and on reddit, I am not the only one.

We are not talking about random conversations, we’re talking about cut scenes with us in them – and most of the conversation isn’t heard but still mouthed.
Even in the beginning in making a new character it happens, and it has nothing to do with headphones or no headphones, it has to do with an update that broke the sync module for voices.
