Hello.

As some people have already pointed out, the challenge mote in the “Tracking the Aspect Masters” chapter is not there.

I did see the challenge mote a couple of times, but most of the times I have tried to get the achievement Dancer in the dark, the mote wasn’t there. At the moment it’s absent from my game.

I decided to open a new thread because “Tracking the Aspect Masters” is not the only chapter with a non-working challenge mote. A few days ago I was trying to get the achievement Wicked rodeo, and the mote wasn’t there either; I was in a party, no one could see it, and relogging did not solve the issue.

I have yet to try to get the achievements of “Meeting the Asura”, so at the moment I’m unable to give feedback concerning that chapter: what I do know is that at least 2 out of the 3 challenge motes are bugged, so the issue may need a look at.

When you were in a party did everyone in the party complete the “story mode” already?

We ran into that with “Meet the Asura” when I was trying to do it with some friends. They all had the story mode completed but I was on a character that hasn’t done it yet.

We tried it a few times with different combinations of people including having just the people who have the story completed go in the instance and I remained outside. None of that worked. As soon I left the party and they tried again the mote was there. Still could be just a coincident.

As far as I know, everyone had completed the story mode for “No Refuge”.

Moreover, the party thing happened again today, this time with “Tracking the Aspect Masters”, and this time I know for certain each of us had the chapter completed, since each of us tried hosting, to no avail: no one could see the mote.

To sum it up:
- the challenge mote appears only rarely, both for solo attempts and party attempts;
- this problem seems more common in the “Tracking the Aspect Masters”, but it has happened also during “No Refuge” and “Meeting the Asura”.

If I may add a thought, this is a particularly vexing problem when attempting Dancer in the dark, because sometimes after you die the deformed mini teargriff stay spawned (or maybe the Teargriff boss keeps spawning them) because of what I assume to be another bug, forcing you to log off (the fight becomes not winnable); but, after logging off, at the following attempt the mote isn’t there, and so on…

But the mote still not there.

This is a problem for me also. I want to attempt ‘Dancer in the Dark’ but there’s no mote.

I was lucky since I was able to get the 3 challenge mote achievements, but I can confirm that each of the three motes (“Meeting the Asura”, “No refuge” and “Tracking the aspect masters”) sometimes does not appear.
Actually, in “Tracking the aspect masters” the mote almost never appears.

I have not found a reliable workaround, seems quite random.
If you have an alternate character you can try doing a story mission with that one, and then log out and try again, but I can’t guarantee it’ll work…

Bumping this because the challenge mote refuses to appear in “No Refuge” and, even though all three of my party members still need Wicked Rodeo, the eligibility icon is not showing up for it on any of us. Logging out and in doesn’t work; we’ve all tried to initiate the instance, also doesn’t work.

No mote and no eligibility icon means blocked progress for that achievement.

True, sometime the mote is there but most of the time it wasnt… the hardest part is not brave the challenge BUT to get the mote of challenge is even harder…

such a kill joy…

On that particular story chapter, the eligibility icon for Wicked Rodeo seems to appear only after you interact with the mote.

I have tried with 2 different Characters, for the Tracking the aspect masters
I have tried everyone’s suggestions still no mote, would like to complete this as it is the last challange I need to finally get atleast one piece of the blasted glowing armor.

Took me an hour just to get the mote… a full party of 5 tend not to get the mote…

Mote in Tangled Paths (Dancer in the Dark) still not spawning for me. It’s the last achievement that I need to complete to get the Illuminated Gloves.

I can confirm that the Challenge Mote for Tracking the Aspect Masters is not coming up, after multiple attempts and runs, and party combinations it has not appeared. However I have had no trouble opening it in Meeting the Asura, without a fail every single time.

The challenge mote for “Meeting the Asura” is not showing up for me at all after a few tries.

Just to lay out what I have done~

Tried and failed
Let myself die
Window pops up to retry from checkpoint and go back to Metrica Province
Window vanishes too fast for me to even get my cursor to it
Sent back to checkpoint (right before the boss room for challenge)
I WP to closest spot outside of LS instance
Run back in accepting it as a reset
Blue Challenge mote no longer available.
Run through it anyhow (w/o the achievement icon for challenge mote by boons).
Successfully do Invisible Infiltration & Aggressive Infiltration
Only receive credit for Invisible Infiltration (no mote to tag at start, hoped a successful run through would reset or unlock achievement. Nope.

Exit and re-enter, no challenge mote available, log out and back in, try 3x more, google and post this.

I had this happen several times in several instances.

Each time, we managed to make it work by leaving and restarting the instance over and over till it worked.

Average retry amount was around 4-5 times, but it always worked eventually.

Hope this works for others.

So, will I ever see the challenge mote and be able to complete Dancer in the Dark or should I just give up?

It’s kind of ridiculous at this point. No matter how many times I log out/in, restart the game, change characters, the mote doesn’t appear -ever- .

mote afk for weeks now. Its driving me nuts!

Dancer in the dark still bugged, several relogs and nothing.

Had this happen to me as well for Dancer in the Dark months ago.

Purple instance, no party, eligible for achievements buff.

Simply no mote at all.

Reentered instance several times, guested to another server (confirmed different IP for Silverwastes).

Still broken. I went ahead and did the instance for other achievements, only getting Light ’em Up. After completing with this achievement, upon re-entering, the Challenge Mote was there finally for some reason.

No idea if that’ll help anyone else, or if there’s any correlation at all – certainly won’t help those who’ve completed the other two achievements.

I have attempted:
=>relogging,
=>jumping to another character and relogging,
=>with a party who had completed the story,
=>without party jumping on several maps (diff IPs) and no luck finding the challenge mote for Dancer in the Dark. Pls help.

I have also found that I don’t get an exit green/purple star point or the small icon on the bottom right to leave the instance. Maybe this is a part of the glitch?

P.S. I have completed the episode in case anyone was wondering apart from this achievement.

Yeah, I got the achievement a little after the release of the chapter. Now i’m trying to help my friends but the mote never spawns for any of them and they HAVE completed all the story mode first before reattempting. To date all the challenge motes in the last 3 chapters are just very buggy or just plain broke and the best thing on any site I read was they broke from the last chapter release. However after a full month and a half of this there has been no answer from Anet about admitting it’s an issue they need to fix or even speaking about the issue at all. You think after multiple threads they would do something, but all we ever get is silence.

Can we at least get acknowledgment that this bug exists? My friend and I are stuck on two separate challenge mode achievements because we can’t get the stupid things to show up. It shouldn’t be this hard to attempt an achievement.

I had the same problem with the challenge mote like everyone else on this thread until I deactivated my miniature.

In Tracking the Masters, the mote was visible when I had all 3 achievements to do, but after completing the others, when I went to do Dancing in the Dark, the mote has not respawned after 6 tries.

Bump for great justice. I’m still not getting the mote show up in the dancing in the dark achievment.

A note, The acheivment is active when i enter the instance but as soon as i enter the area with the tendrills with rox and caithe the acheivment fails and the icon disapears.

After posting this i managed to score an instance with the mote so it is still possible to get the acheivment but i have tried a good 7-8 times beforehand with nothing.

There is no Challenge Mote spawning to activate Unforgiving Infiltration

This bug has been around for a while. Only way to get it to appear is just to keep going in and out of the instance. -_-

Bumping because I’m having this issue with Meeting the Asura and No Refuge.

This bug still exists. I’m trying to solo this achievement, but the challenge mote has only shown up once out of many attempts.

Bugged for me as well, I got 2/3 achievements complete. Here is a picture showing that achievement is available but the challenge mote is nowhere to be found.

Not showing up for me either. Perhaps the achievement is in just finding the mote now? Had to same issue with Meeting the Asura and got lucky after attempting over 15 times.

the challenge mote for unforgiving infiltration never spawns inside the instance and is blocking the achievements. i didnt know how to report this in game as all the options for bug reports didnt seem right.

Just as the titel says, I’m trying to do the achievements, but when I enter the instance the Challenge Mote ain’t showing up. I have completede the 2 other achievements now in Meeting the Asura, but no matter how many time I enter the Mote don’t show up. A fix would be nice

Yep, me and my friend are experiencing the same issue, perhaps the new build caused this? From what I gathered from reddit entering it a few times would result in the mote appearing but that no longer works either…

So much for getting Luminescent together, I hope the developers fix this at their earliest convenience because frankly it’s the only achievement I’m missing for the meta of that episode.

I have done both can’t knock me down and untouched by maw and claw achievements at world summit story and when trying to do Mote Master i noticed that there is no challenge mote to start the achiev.
There was a thread with something similar 3 months ago so i wonder if im the only one with this bug?

Haven’t seen any patch mentioning fixing the bug so I assume it is the same as it’s always been. Your only option is to keep entering and exiting until it decides to create an instance with the mote in it.

I am also having this same issue. I have both the other achievements completed, but when I enter the instance to try for Mote Master, the “Challenge Mote” isn’t anywhere to be found on the map. As soon as I ascend to the top, the achievement disappears. Any fixes for this?

I caught this bug too. I thought I was going crazy but turns out not any more than normal.

I ran into this today as well too. It got me pretty frustrated going in and out of the instance 20 times trying different things to try to make it show up… It’s been known to be buggy for months but it looks like it’s completely broken now. It’s a fairly important fix too since it also prevents us from completing the luminescent armor set.

“Meeting the Asura” I can’t get that challenge mote to spawn, it’s the only achievement I need.

I am having the same issue. Multiple attempts to enter the instance do not make the mote spawn.

Going through the storyline in order to that point also does not make a difference.

ugh, its annoying clearing all other achievements only to be stopped dead at this bug

I have the same problem and i think someone should seriously look into this issue. I’m starting to be afraid that the patch somehow permanently ruined this challenge mote.

Some details: i have done every living story episode and almost all achievements needed for the Luminescent achievement. All that are left are these 2 achievements from Seeds of truth: Wicked rodeo (i failed it several times, but the mote works in this instance) and Meeting the Asura.
I have tried relogging several times yesterday evening and today (more than 20 attempts).
I have turned my mini off as i read somewhere that minis might interfere with challenge motes spawning.
I have tried going in the instance with a guildie who has also completed the story. Challenge mote did not spawn even then. Note that he has completed all the achievements too, but my character had the achievement icon on.
I have tried replaying the episode and then reentering the instance. The mote did not spawn either time.
I have tried entering with a different character that has also completed the story. No luck.
I have tried reloging several times with this other character. Still no luck.

Note: i haven’t had any issues at all with any other LS episode/chapter’s challenge motes.
Based on these i’d say this is a more serious issue than before, when challenge motes just occasionally wouldn’t spawn but would be there after 4-5 attempts of relog.

UPDATE: I came across a person selling Unforgiving infiltration (the challenge mote achi) in LFG and the challenge mote actually did spawn for him. When i entered the instance with him he said the other buyer before me said the same as me – that the mote simply wouldn’t spawn for him, even after several relogs. But for this seller guy, the mote was there immediately. So it seems it isn’t bugged for everyone.
On the character he was playing with, he didn’t have this achi. He said he had all the others though.

Since the patch on tuesday, the challenge mote from Meeting the Asura story instance is missing. It was there before the patch. This makes the Unforgiving Infilitration achievment unobtainable.

Confirmed this on various characters and on another account as wel..

I have yet to find a solid fix for this, or seen someone who can get my in an instance with it.

2 times in last hour (in about 10 tries) I was able to enter with challenge mote present. Didn’t find any condition when it is or isn’t working. Tried about 10 more times after but no luck.
