Get the pattern here? I’d imagine that most people playing the game probably haven’t even noticed the missing idles. Or care too much about them. Why? Because they’re too busy not standing there watching their female human do absolutely nothing.

The fact that this thread exists shows that people noticed it. And actually there was quite a big reddit thread about the subject a few days ago.

It’s really easy to ignore missing idles though. Don’t stand there. Go play the game. Do a jumping puzzle. Run a dungeon. Earn 10,000 Geodes in Dry Top then spend them all on clay. Do something instead of just sitting there staring. I don’t see my idle animations every time I play my character, and I play female humans almost exclusively. Because I’m too busy running around doing things. However, when I’m doing all that stuff, I can’t not see my character’s bum clipping through the back of her skirt.

Also, by your own logic of “If the armour clips, don’t wear it”, well, if the idles for one race/gender are gone…

Too bad, that missing idle animations are not the only bugs I considered. There are more animations on different races/genders A-Net destroyed. Like male Norn now using the female longbow animation or once they are throwing greatswords, it looks unrealistic now. Human female getting stucked by casting “Wave of Wrath”. And so on.

I am sorry, that my characters are not just tools to achieve everything in this game. If you just log into this game, do dungeons and farm like there is no tomorrow, it’s your decision. I also play this game, do dungeons and go WvW/PvP. But I also like do enjoy other things in this game, like waiting at the bank and see my character doing silly things.

So worry about that when they’re done fixing the things that are far more important and are actually game-breaking. When the game actually works right for the 99% of players that aren’t upset over idles missing, then you can remind them that they’re missing.

This thread has 6500 views (over a thousand views per day on average considering it’s a 5 day old topic) and 100 posts. There was another thread before this one that had like 1000+ views within a few hours of it being posted. This doesn’t necessarily count people on other forums, sites, or the in game chat. I think you underestimate how many people are actually upset about this – even a little upset – just because they aren’t constantly talking about it. Thinking all these people that took the time to view and/or post in this thread and elsewhere are a measly “1%” is kind of a low blow.

This game, like most games, have always had bugs and never worked 100% of the time for everyone, so waiting for them to fix everything before this isn’t even going to happen. If I can prevent it: I’d rather this not fall through the cracks into obscurity like the running animation unfortunately seems to have. Not learning from history means you’re doomed to repeat it.

Bring back the animations!

Having less idle makes sense… for when the game has just come out. As the game progresses it should have more animations, both idle and on command. Just watch ANet introduce an Idle Animation Pack in the Gem Store… greed greed greed greed greed.

Anet – I hope restoring the removed animations is still a priority. It has been a week since the patch rolled out and no mention of it being fixed in the series of recent updates. Please do not let this drop off the radar! Thank you!

Too bad that I’m not concerned or talking about other animation bugs when I talk about triviality because they’re not the point of this thread. Also, too bad that clipping issues would, in fact, fall under animation bugs, since an aspect of animation is the animation of one’s body, weapon, or hair and how it interacts with other supposedly solid objects.

Correct. 6,500 views that are not unique viewers, and 100 posts that are not unique posters. In fact, those numbers would be more damaging to your point if they WERE unique, because that would mean that out of 6,500 people viewing it, only 100 people cared enough to post. However, given that multiple people have posted multiple times, out of 6,500 views, less than 100 people have cared enough to post. And given that some of those posts are just spam bumps “reminding” them that they didn’t fix something they know they didn’t fix, and some are people saying they don’t care or are fine with them being gone, I think you’re overestimating how many people actually care about it.

And reminding them that they haven’t fixed something they know they haven’t fixed because they’re too busy fixing game-breaking bugs isn’t helpful.

They’re people, not machines and not slaves. Treat them like people and they might be happier to please. Cracking a whip at them because they haven’t listened to your demands over things that actually affect the gameplay will certainly accomplish nothing but annoy them and make them want to avoid the thread even more.

If you were a cook at a restaurant, would you want a customer standing behind you shouting “Hey, have you cooked my meal yet? My meal isn’t done yet. Hey, where’s my meal?” If you fixed computers, would you want a customer standing behind you saying “Hey, is my computer fixed yet? It’s been half an hour, has my computer been fixed yet? Don’t stop to put out that fire, fix my computer”?

I’m done with ANet if that becomes the case. It’s outrageously underhanded if it were just removed to appease a few crying babies, leaving not only the quality of the game to sink but to leave everyone else out to dry.

The eradication of the running animations was bad enough.

In the same boat for the same reasons. Unfortunately for me all my characters are human female so I’m on indefinite hiatus.

Yeah I really wanted to make one human female character. I never play females and it looked like fun. Fortunately she’s low level and I can delete her. I can see a lot less human females in the future in this game. So I guess it’ll be another Asura until they mess with them too.

I miss my ele’s little stretch. It was so cute! :’(

I miss the human warrior male dual wield sword idle animation. Where he throws the sword a bit. It gave character and depth to the game. I hope this gets fixed. I honestly feel it detracts from the game. We’ve already seen the game simplified, content cut and taken out.

Quality Assurance doesn’t seem to matter that much.

Is this in anyway related to Asurians too? she makes a yawning squeaky sort of noise but no animation accompanying it, just asking as I didn’t play an Asurian until after the patch.

Yep, some animations are missing on other races too…

Now I discovered something really strange this morning.
In Divinity’s Reach at the Lyssa Waypoint, there is a human female, who is doing the stretch animation the whole time. Too bad it’s a static idle animation, but eventual an evidence that the animations are still in the game. ^.^

Edit: There seems to be more human females in Divinity’s Reach, who are behaving the same. Seems a bit illogical, removing the idle animations but leave some NPC, who are still using them.

What the hell is going on… how does any of this even happen, that is: missing or glitched out.

The fewer animations and emotes we have, the fewer original screenshots I can take where my character isn’t just standing there saying “cheese!” Right now, I can’t duplicate “Peaceful Evening” or “Greeting the Morning Sun” below. (Yeah, I name my screen captures something more than GW001, GW002, etc.)

(A bit of trivia: the bottom picture was resized. It was originally taken 2 years ago during the Betas when we were allowed the option of a super-sized 7680×4320 .BMP screen capture.)

Those are the things that made the game unique. I’m sure you’ll miss it.

They did not only made the game “unique” but the race also. If this continues, the only differences between Humans, Sylvari and Norn will be the hight and the voice.

This is still an issue after the patch.

I hope, they won’t take the opportunity to change the human runing animation completely. There are minis, who are using a new kind of runing animation, like “Liadri the Concealing Dark”, “Queen Jennah” and “Watchknight”.
As far as I can see, it looks more horrible than the bugged one and, viewable on the Watchknight, staffs behave even dumber.

This is not only thing what is gone. They are really downgrading the game. But less idles is also good, peaceful.

I repeat my suggestion: Idle animation panel where player may select what idles are played.

Suggestion: Pose panel for screenshotting. “/sit” and “/sleep” are already sort of poses.

I’m fan of Skyrim, and there players have a huge selection of idles and poses to select from.

It will never be Sylvari seeing how they are the ‘golden children’ of certain people in ANet. They now have 2 unique idle animations, and compared to other races they are appear the most developed, which is ridiculous in itself.

Maybe destroying idle animations is part of the new player experience! Hello new players!! Please don’t be distracted by movement.

I’m still checking everyday or so since I haven’t bothered to log in for a month. Here and the wiki for possible patches.

But yes..

I think there were some problems with the animations.

The shoulders would pretty much dislocate or sink into the torso during the stretching animation and look awful…
