Good luck getting any dev attention on this one guys. I’ve made over half a dozen threads about fixing/improving Howler and I have never seen a red post in any of mine nor anyone else’s. There are literally hundreds of posts about this that have never been answered.

I’m not kidding. A simple google search turns up nearly 500 posts.

Even so, keeping a thread bumped for a long period of time doesn’t really take much effort, nor do I think it takes much effort from Anet to say they will, or won’t fix it, but since Anet’s way of handling things is way different from most game companies it’s pretty hard to guess their intentions

I am at the moment working on my first legendary (been playing since launch, but I never really had the desire to make a legendary… always wanted to make Kraitkin, but since they have completely abandoned underwater combat, I don’t see any worth in it anymore), and I actually really wanted to make Howler, I really like warhorn on my ranger and I really like warhorn on my necro and sometimes I even like warhorn on my warrior from time to time. But seeing as they took away so much from Howler, and nobody of the team stepped up and said something yet, I am actually thinking about making Bolt now, even though I don’t like swords on any character very much.
I find it sad that responses from devs are so scarce. There is the occasional Gaile Gray comment, and even those are rarely helpful. I really don’t like the communication between devs and the playerbase. And, though this might just be me and my bitterness towards the whole communication politics, I think that whenever there is a topic regarding changes to the gemstore, whether it be new item ideas, basically anything that can be put in the store to make more money, is answered quickly, while other things are suggested and reported for over a year, yet there isn’t even one person saying a word about the issue.

Please devs, bring the wolf animation back pretty please

it is an easy fix..or at least an easy thing to do to come here and say there is nothing they can do about it or whatever..we are just asking for a position

I can understand why Anet doesn’t give out much details on what they are working on, but to be all honest bug fixes shouldn’t be affected by their policies of communication, they sure as heck communicate when a client crash is going on.

Yea some old legendaries could use some love, but as far as I’m aware none of those are bugged(anymore) and some have received updates recently(looking at you predator)

i didn’t hear any bug in a while on other legendaries..last one i have heard was hotfixed in incinerator. lasted for 3-5 days or something..
I really don’t understand why so much hate for the howler

Very sorry to hear about this. I was actually thinking of making The Howler as my next legendary. May have to hold off for now. Thank you for bringing this to everyone’s attention.

Very sorry to hear that this caused you to no longer think of making the howler it still is a great legendary and if fixed one of my favorite good luck to what ever legend you choose next

I actually know a guildmate that would make it if there was at least an Anet response, independent if they would say they will fix it or not

…because we totally want something that we spent 250 of each T6 mat on to be limited to brief effects that are very hard to see in the daylight and almost as hard to see in the night.

Btw finished mh howler…and i am deeply disappointed with the result..only thing nice avout it is that i can switch from soldier to zerk whenever i feel like it…

I’ve been informed that the Kraitkin nightcycle is also bugged, I’m wondering if there is any relation on this….

I can confirm that the Howler sound effects have not been restored with this patch. :/

I don’t post on the forums—like, ever—but I’m ready to bump this as long as it takes to get official recognition. I get that the sound looping was a bug. Fine, no problem. But the moon effects? That’s got to be developmental oversight. At the very least, I want the rationale for its removal. Did somebody complain about the particle effects? The glowing moon? If I complain about ponies or skybox swords, will they bork those too?

Just give us back the Hower-effects Arena-Net!

Howler plox fix

+1 to this. Crafted it a couple of days ago, went raiding with my guild last night and it was two hours until anyone even noticed I had it (“does someone have the legendary wh or something?” was the message in chat).

The mist is quite cool and subtle (I like that, it’s no Moot discoball or Quip) but the active effects are utterly invisible/inaudible in normal play and the weapon itself doesn’t stand out in any way. Hardly legendary in its effects, colour me somewhat disappointed for all the hours I put into getting it.

IMO it needs the sound tweaking to make it a more audible howl, needs the wolf effect to be a bit more pronounced and the night time effect needs to come back to make the weapon stand out a little.

I mean, it’s not like I’m asking for the world in a day, you know? Just some kind of information. That a dev is being informed, has been informed, or is working on it. That the removal of the nighttime moon effects (not the looping sound; I understand that was a bug) was intentional and permanent—and if so, why.

I doubt Anet will ignore this forever, though I don’t understand why they can’t simply respond and just telling us what is going on with it, it’s too complicated to fix, it’s going to be fixed, it’s a low priority and might not get fixed, we are working on a fix, any of these things would work(not saying i’d agree with all of them but at least some kind of response would be appreciated)

I’m very happy to see how many other people care so much for this legend and want a fix, a reason why they may not be telling us anything is because for say it is in fact in. Rey low priority this could end up fluctuating the mark a little for the howler hopefully this is not the case and we’ll hear something positive soon

Once upon a time there was a great warhorn legendary weapon called The Howler..
Then it got bugged.
And since then everyone who uses it and decided to craft one came to find out that it is a huge disapointment to have a weapon that has almost no special effect and is still called legendary..
Everyone who has the so called weapon hopes foe the day that it will get fixed by anet and they will once again be proud of using it in combat.
Help us ANET

fix this pls. offhand legendaries are already very underwhelming as it is.

It’d be so nice to get one of the red names to respond and let us know hey, Yeah we know about this and it’s on the to-do list but we can’t say when it’ll be fixed. Even a response like that would be appreciated rather than overwhelming silence.

Wow, I can’t believe how well my reddit post went and how far it went on the forums from the OP making this thread. It’s great to see, even with all the other threads about this bug. I really hope they will take notice, or at least write it down on their to do list of small fixes.
