I’m getting so tired from the endless waiting… this is beyond anything. I never saw the community of a MMO being ignored this long in any game I played so far. Two more comments to go… will ArenaNet make it??

This was buried 6 pages into bugs before this commment I’m makeing. I guess they’re overwhelmed over there but after a year and a half people don’t have much sympathy left. I think we’d all have a little patience if they just answered us once. You’re right ShelBlackblood, No other major MMO community would get this treatment. It’s very disrespectful.

I don’t write much on the forums and I’m just returning to the game right now.
Guild Wars 2 changed so much over the last 3 months o_o I’m still pretty confused about all the new UI sections!

This was one of the bugs that was heavily debated on General Discussion before, right? I wonder why it got moved here. As I said, I didn’t play the game for quite a while now, so it’s even more strange to see that the weapon is still such a mess. Howler is part of the endcontent, several players worked for this weapon for months. The mood in this topic has become pretty bad as well, thus I can’t really believe that none developer finds the time to make a short statement about the current status of the weapon.

My former guild leader for example was your 08/15 casual player. Only online 2-3 hours an evening, a bit longer on weekends. He plays the game since launch and it took him over 2 years to gather everything that was required for Howler. Okay, maybe he put the craft on hold at some times, I bet he could have gotten the warhorn earlier if he really yearned for that, but it doesn’t change the fact that he and a lot of other players put so much effort into the weapon. You might be able to imagine his reaction when he saw the final product and it’s missing night effect for the first time He didn’t even play his warrior for two or three weeks after that. I don’t know if he changed his mind in these last months, but about 6 months ago he said “This is my first and last legendary.”

I just hope this gets adressed in the future. Putting all you’ve got into something that makes you sad as soon as you see it finished can be very painful

And yes…I did check what it looked like per the wiki, multiple videos, etc. I guess it never got updated or stated that the glow got removed. I made it under the assumption that it was still there…

Ok, this is something we might can work with. As I understand it now, the developers (who could fix Howler) know well about the problems but are not allowed to answer or to fix something about it; at least not until some higher up (a manager?) or someone allows them to. This means (for me): Writing in this topic is 100% meaningless.

So… where do I get the mail of these higher ups? I wonder if we can ask them directly.

I’m not sure what you mean by “just yet”. The thing is this issue is so old. No offense or anything but if they were going to say something or do something about this, I think they would have done something by now.

Also the post above me makes a lot of sense. That is probably the best course of action at this point. Tho I have no idea who you would write to.

This has got to be some sort of record – 11 pages of comments and not a single red post on it. This saddens me tremendously. All we’re asking for is a little acknowledgement of our frustrations with the current state of a legendary weapon – Howler – something that many of us spent a lot of time and effort (and gold) to create.

I dream that someday my Howler will howl again, and that it will be as magnificent as it was once envisioned to be.

PLEASE make guildwars2.com the main source of information on new patches, bugfixes and general updates. Answering feedback almost solely/first on Reddit or telling us about server downs only on Twitter does not help many players AT ALL. Most times when I search for some kind of information, other players here in the forum give us links to reddit or twitter – that’s irritating to say it in a friendly way

Well… someone responded…. on reddit (= forum devaluation). So, do we now know more than we already did before that post was made? We got an official response that “they know about the bugged effect(s?) and start their Sherlock work n.o.w.”; we still don’t know if this only gets noticed + ignored afterwards again or if the fix really is going to happen. Okay, at least we got a RED reply now, but …. why the heck not here?

I pretty much sent a message to every dev or mod I could find and a few answered. Most are on our side and want and answer but are not even allowed to comment officially. None could give me details but at least let me know it is being discussed on some level. Unfortunately it looks like the devs and moderators discussing it have little authority to fix it or even comment on it.

As for the reddit.. I wonder if they are switching the forums over due to them being broken. Still doesn’t make sense not to comment here as well unless that was a dev in disguise. Maybe he/she couldn’t comment officially so used a cover ID to post? Has anyone else seen this dev comment on other reddit issues?

I’m sad it takes this long to fix something so simple.

Well I confirmed the Reddit reply is real and they are investigating what happened to the night effects. I know its not victory but it seems we’re out of total limbo. At least its something. We’ll see how long the investigation takes.

I know what you mean. This thread is buried and still no official response. The reddit reply was nice but could they at least give this thread a comment. Say “we’re looking into it”. They obviously don’t understand psychology at all as the amount of satisfaction they’d be giving us would offset a lot of the anger over the broken Legendary.

Well, the reddit post did bring up some hope, but considering how many game breaking bugs are here with the expansion now, I wouldnt expect to see a fix any time soon…and I do think devs needs permission to post anything on the official forum while post on reddit may have less restrictions for them thats why we see more devs post on reddit then here.

I am sad that my pretty shiny wolfhorn doesn’t make wolf noises that you can actually hear or have moon sparklies :< But considering the sfx of -some- weapons in the game (I’m lookin’ at you Dreamer, Pop-gun, SAB skins…) it’d be fantastic if, at the very least, you could actually hear Howler, y’know… Howl.

Especially when half the ele warhorn skills sound like someone ripping a fart down a microphone.

I am glad to find this thread before I craft my howler. I had everything ready but seeing how bad this legendary is. I am going to give this up.

I think it is nice that some of the other legendaries got some new effects added, but seriously…you had time to do all that and not FIX effects that used to exist on current legendaries?

I don’t normally complain much as you can see from my forum posts, but this is really kittened.

They are just trolling us now. An unbelievable display of ignorance and disdain for their customer. There is no reason why they couldn’t fix Howler (or make some other change to restore it to something like it was) at the same time as they made these changes (some of which I don’t see being asked for by players) to other legendaries.

You could kind of understand why something like this might be low priority at the moment given all the other stuff that they have broken in the game but when they make these other cosmetic changes you really have to wonder whether they have any idea what they are doing.

Not to mention the fact that they can’t be bothered contributing to this thread!

We need some serious damage control here. What is going on? There’s no words for this.

The lack of communication – or even acknowledgement – from Anet is extremely saddening to me. This potentially awesome Legendary weapon (which apparently was pretty darn cool once-upon-a-time) is being intentionally ignored, while other Legendary weapons get improved???

But the fact that other legendaries got “visually” fixed earlier (we know about Howler’s issues at least since early 2014…) and got some improvements noone even asked for is the reason why everyone here has the right to be more than disappointed with ArenaNet atm.

After all the Pre-Order turmoil, HoT critism, Core game nerfs, killing WvW+partly PVP and gemshop milking that happened this year, all of this Howler-ignoring is just another huge slap in the face. Why can’t they understand that all the anger is stacking over time? Just look around the forum, people didn’t complain this much ever before.

I feel very much like this, except that I don’t even log in anymore since HoT launched. I really, really don’t know what the responsible persons behind the scene intend with this aimed destruction of our former favourite MMO. This is beyond frustrating.

Ppl like us.. who crafted howler.. are not ANET main focus..
We already purchased game or expansion.. so the most ammount of money they could gather from us is already gone.. sure some gems purchases here and there always happen.. but main income is from game copies..
And therefore they are focusing on shiny new features for the f2p users.. to make them think the game is worth so that they go on and purchase the game as well..

ANET became as greedy as any other mmo company out there about 1 year after game launch.. when they started to less and less discuss things with the players and just do w/e they wanted to the game..
Nc soft…EA games…There are quite a few out there.. ANET just joined the “inner circle”
And now.. this is pure business…
Wvw forum is forgotten..and when something starts to get to much crtiticism.. thread vanishes misteriously… so that " nothing happened"..
Bugs around for almost 2 years that noone speaks about… balance patches being created by someone with the intelligence of a 3 year old kid…
But ye.. lets keep the positive feedback..cause thats what keep the f2p users purchasing…

As my last post said I do really get the feeling the Devs and Moderators are on our side. I got a few infractions for bumping the original thread a while back and maybe 1 or 2 after the merge. Though after a while it seems the Mods feel our pain and realized we’re not just crying over a non issue to be trolls, but we were really shafted by whoever pulls the strings. So now they let us rant because this is the only outlet of our frustration.

This whole situation feels like winning an Olympic competition only to have our gold medals replaced with copper and our names misspelled in the record books. We still have the proof of our efforts but all the glory is gone. Why would you want to play a game like that? Don’t get me wrong I like playing the game for the challenges and fun but the bitterness over this one issue ruins the experience. It’s like biting into a piece of pepper in a plate of food. You may never bite into another one but the distaste from that one bite messes up the experience for the rest of the meal.. no matter how good the food is.

OK I’m not happy about Howler but I don’t think funny was made to be a joke in this context more like ‘peculiar or odd’. Getting on a Dev for semantics isn’t helping us especially when they finally seem to be giving us positive replies. I would like them to give us the satisfaction of posting here instead(or at least as well as) Reddit.. but some reply is better than none. And it actually came with somewhat of an explanation on why it hasn’t been resolved. Moving in the right direction at least.

Yes, you are right. I overdid it with some posts I made in the last few days. After reading the reddit post again and looking at some comments once more, there really was no joke nor a sarcastic meaning in Matt’s message. It’s wrong to pick out single words someone else says without looking at the whole statement. I sincerely apologize for my previous rant.

It’s just the whole “gw2 forum vs. reddit” story that made me so angry… this is of course not an excuse to be rude, I know that. I just directed my anger towards the devs again, which was an unfair move. Gaile even responded in the General Discussion section to some questions about legendary weapons.. even Howler.

Sorry again for being so rude lately ;( I’ll try to do better from now on!

We had a fix go through internally on this on monday scheduled for the 12/15 release, but it was a partial fix and the tester failed it back to be looked at again by the developer, because well… partial fixes kinda suck just as much as not-fixed.

TY for the update, even a update on a failed fix attempt is much better than complete silence on the forum.

Thanks for the update on the fix, and moreso for kicking it back to make it a full fix rather than a partial fix.

i dont know how to feel about this topic. i can kinda understand ppl’s anger but im lost. i just crafted my howler literally 5mins ago, and i love it. main reason i wanted it was to pair it with frostfang and have the overlapping auras. but at the same time i absolutely love the addition they gave to kudzu. i was overwhelmed with joy with them. i never got to experience the old howler. and i dont know what i missed out on. what i do want is the starie particles that used to exist before
