He won’t talk to me. I did the ‘glide to get his attention’ and the quest updated to have the star over his head but I can’t interact with him.

Update: another player suggested switching to another character and switching back. That seems to have worked.

Tried switching characters, he still won’t talk to me.

Yes this is bugged atm. Report it please

Bugged I tried:
logging in and out
gliding to him from several angles
swapping characters
killing myself

Nothing please fix!!

Ok so according to reddit you just need to try to switch instances.
I did this and it worked for me!

Yes, I had this bug. I tried relogging but it didn’t help. Then I guested on another server and I was able to talk to him.

It worked for me. Switch to a different server (guest). Logging in, leaving the map and switching character does not work.

What this means is that the version of him that is on one map can apparently get bugged out somewhere, so that presumably everyone on that map experiences the bug until “?”. The “fix” is to go to another map. Hopefully they’ll fix this (and yes, I’m here because it just happened to me).

He is bugged with me too. I tried logging on and off, changing instance twice and it doesn’t work. Hope it gets fixed soon, I want to go on with the story!

I logged in and out, switched characters, guested, etc., din’t work, but then the second time I guested I ended up on a map that worked, so he does seem to be bugged on a per-map basis.

When he was bugged, he was sitting on a platform playing hikittene, and would not talk to me. When I ended up on a map that worked, the music stopped, and he was actually on the other side of that “island,” the NE side, rather than the west side, just standing around, and talked to me right as I approached like the other Itzil did.

Guesting on Baruch Bay (EU) worked for me, Riverside was bugged.

Ive tried guesting on two different servers, changing characters, changing zones, restarting the story, logging in and out, flying at him, jumping to him.. nothing works

pls fix it asap
Finally get to play new release stuff on a weekend and cant even progress with the story

What worked for me – climbed up on the rocks next to him and glided back to him a few feet. Dialogue opened.

someone changed servers, like guest to another server and we were able to talk to him then. worth a try if youre stuck

On desolation server, the npc works, test guest server. thank’s to the tips.

I’m having this issue also. Have tried logging in and out repeatedly and gliding by him again.

Edit: It worked on the second server I tried guesting on.

Switching characters didn’t help, but guesting worked for me. May just be a matter of luck for getting on a different/unbugged map instance.

It was bugged for me as well until I first guested on a different server (no luck) and then hopped back to my own server – and got his attention alright.

I hope this is fixed soon, I want to continue on the story, and unlock the rest of the masteries.

FIX PLIX!

Got it to work for me a little while ago. Went to Lion’s Arch to sell some things, then went back. It worked this time. Try leaving the map and coming back.

Looks like it is working for me now. Just re-logged in after going to the store, glided over and he talked to me.

honest to god – it took me 6 HOURS (yes you read right) until i could finally move on to the next story step cause it was bugged…it drove me nearly crazy

Still doesnt work, just got to this step and I cant talk to him whatsoever.

I put in several fail-safes to this NPC’s script that should hopefully have made the most recent build:

• I removed some condition checks that weren’t relevant to his scripting so now he should ONLY check to see if you’re on the “Speak to Scout Acan” step, and talk to you if you are.
• I expanded the tripwire that checks you gliding into it so that you can hit the sides of the plateau he’s on and still get credit for the gliding portion of the step.

For those of you who have been stuck on this step, can you try again and if it’s still not fixed then I will need to elevate this to our coders because there’s no other reason I can think of in content, for why he would ignore the interact request.

Grrr. Pesky bugs. DEV SMASH!!

I’ll poke at this again first thing in the morning, but yeah with it being so inconsistent (I was able to speak with him on my necro this afternoon, along with two other players who were on the same step while I was there), it’s hard to pin down what might be causing him to glitch out like this. One thing that might help – if you’re still stuck, can you perhaps post your race and gender? That’s one of the only things I can think of that would be different between players, since player VO is specific to your character. I think it’s a long shot that would be the cause, and I will make sure to get some code support to see if we can debug this properly in the live environment while it’s failing. Sorry again for the inconvenience.

it works now for me, i joined party on other map

I don’t see why we should have to pay 500 gems to be able to finish a story that is mandatory.

I’m having a similar problem… I can’t get past the part where I need the warbler… it’s not in my inventory. Any ideas?
