The new patch didn’t work for me.
But following Sarah’s direction (renaming the application, downloading the .dmg file…etc) worked. Thanks.
I’m glad to hear it. We’ll keep working towards the patching solution. I’ll use this thread for any exciting updates.
enjoy your weekend!
Thank you for working on this during the weekend and providing this rough workaround after heartbleed made this an already miserable week, I’m sure.
If any of you are not being ALLOWED to run the installer – check your security settings – by default it will refuse to run Internet-originated downloads. You can change that in preferences (there’s also a key combination which I can’t recall right now to let you override on the fly).
That’s what I thought. Maybe some people don’t know this, so lets give them more details how to do it:
- Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab
- You will have the option right there saying: Allow Apps Downloaded from. Please make sure you choose “Anywhere”…
- IF the whole option is greyed/can’t be selected, just unlock it using the lock in bottom left.
- When you do that, try running the installer again.
Thank you “KarateKid.5648” for the idea. Hope this help them!!

I didn’t need to change the security setting in 10.9.2 (I’m set to allow approved developers).
Additionally, if you do run into this problem with an app in the future you do not need to change the setting system wide. Right clicking and using the contextual menu to open the app the first time will allow it to bypass the check and it will run without prompt after the first launch.

Yah I specifically allowed a few myself, but was trying to head off some of the “FIX ALL THE THINGS!!” posts.
Hello,
We’re going to need to spend some more time on getting a patching resolution. As this could carry into the weekday, the team would like to give you an optional workaround.
1. Rename your existing application file to something other than “Guild Wars 2”.
2. Download a new “Guild Wars 2.dmg” from here:
http://cloudfront.guildwars2.com/client/branches/Gw2Setup.dmg
(or) from the account manager on guildwars2.com.
3. Open the file and install the application. This installation should fix the certificates issue you’ve been experiencing.
4. When the installer completes and the Guild Wars 2 client begins patching, close the application.
5. Delete the new “Guild Wars 2” application that the installer placed in your Applications folder.
6. Relaunch the original application that you renamed in step 1.
7. The application will patch to the latest version.Thank you for your patience and see you in Tyria!
~Sarah
this worked, thanks.
to others: you don’t need to download the whole client. just install this linked file, open the game, then when it starts to download the 20-something gigabytes, just quit it and trash this new download. good luck!

Sorry to upset anymore Anet fan people but their testing is either subpar or just unlucky, just need to look at the Living story record where within the first hour or two, certainly first day of a new release new builds are needed to fix things. Disappointed the new patch failed to solve the issue but I was certain at least they do work in the weekends, after all during the Jubilee they did fix the tp on a sunday when it went down…
I was going to not bother with Sarah’s fix (Honestly, did it really take 4-5days to come up with this?) as the 15th is almost here but I did, renamed the game to Guild Wars Poo, highly fair under the debacle! I did as instructed, not only did I realise I need to start clearing space the original launcher no longer works! I did rename the game to it’s first name…. Luckily I did what is always expected of windows but usually unnecessary for OS X, I restarted the computer and solved! Except I noticed this appears in the console log
13/04/2014 05:10:11.372 cider: regapi failed: 1
Uncertain what relevance that has but GW2 boots up pretty well, map loading is much faster too for some reason, (except first launch the screen was stuck for at least 10seconds upon loading) as for the BLTP? xI could see my gem balance but nothing loaded…. I tried changing languages, restarted…. Third restart everything seems fine!
Thank you Sarah, was quite a straightforward workaround compared to the crossover or bootcamp, certainly faster than the 4-5hrs needed minimum to download the client I just wish you gave this days earlier! It’s been a pleasure getting to know more of the mac users I’ll be sure to add some names to my tyrian contacts list.
IMPORTANT – If you can’t launch the old client after deleting the new one try rebooting the computer, was needed for me at least.

after the patch and the “work around”
i can only sell my stuff once.
after that luck it gone all back to blank again….
Well, that fixed the gem store, but unfortunately I still can’t sell things. Hope this gets fixed soon. My poor bags…
If u guys still got tgUpdate everytime when open launcher, just download it manually:
http://cider.ncplatform.net/Live/GWII-Update-009712.tgz
After the patch is downloaded, unpack it by double-clicking. Then follow Felicja.6891’s method:
You should find “GWII-Update-009712.app” after it finishes extracting. Open this app, and when asked point it to you GW2 client. If you are getting a message: “GWII-Update-009712.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”, you must allow third party apps in your System Preferences->Security & Privacy->“Allow apps downloaded from anywhere”
After the update is completed, try launching the game client.

Post patch I have Gem Store access only. No Trading Post, No Gem Exchange, No Sell My Items, etc.
I can only spend cash. Thanks.
ANYONE else is still having problems with the issue?! I just wanna know if somebody is still having the issue even after this fix ?!
@noor. Yep, I have the same Problem after this “Fix”
working fine for me, just wanted to thank Sarah and all the people who spent part of there weekend helping us out.
I’m still having the same problem.
Worked .. thank you .. (but I had to restart the game twice)
+1 for fixed by Sarah’s patch method.
Note: to start with I only had access to the gems store, but after restarting the game a few times the rest of the trading post came up too.
Thanks
The patch came up and installed. Restarted the game a few times but it’s still not working. Every tab except Pick Up shows a blank screen after spinner goes away. The spinner stayed for 10-20 seconds now though. Not sure if that’s improvement.
Oh goody, brand new problem.
Thanks to the update I can’t play the game period. The update requires OSX 10.7.5 or later. I’m running 10.6.8.
I know that technically we’re supposed to run 10.7 for the game, but up until just now running older versions worked just fine.
So, note for all older mac users: 10.6.8 is no longer a usable OS. Gotta go buy a new one.
You can upgrade to Mavericks for free.
The problem with Mavericks is it does not work or causes several issues with many older applications. So if you have several hundred or thousand dollars invested in software that’s not compatible with Mavericks, upgrading to it is NOT and option. But you can still purchase OS 10.7, and 10.8 at the Apple Store (for 19.99) and check compatibility with older applications like Photoshop CS 5, etc.. at roaringapps.com. This way one can check to see what they can safely upgrade too, without invalidating an older application they have on their Mac’s.
For me personally I had to purchase OS X 10.7 and have to wait to get the email key from Applestore to install it before I can play this game again. As I only have a few older applications that are not compatible with 10.7 (ones I rarely use now). But I start having issues with 10.8 and later for some expensive audio editing software, so that limits me at present (until I purchase a new macbook pro this summer/fall). And I cannot play GW2 now on my current 10.6.8 system until I get my email “delivery” of 10.7 from Apple.
The biggest issue I have with Anet on this, is the lack of prior notification to mac users of the mandatory change to 10.7 on this patch (before it was optional). A week or two heads up for us would have been really helpful for those of us using older OS’s to prepare for a patch occurring in the middle of a weekend.

I’m having exactly the same problem.
Running on a 2012 Macbook Air with Mavericks.
I’ve tried this in conjunction with previous fixes (deleting folder in Application Support and force-quitting cookied and CVMCompiler.)

SarahWitter.2317’s workaround appears to have fixed the TP for me. I was able to sell multiple times. I’m on OS X 10.7.5.
Mystic.5934 is correct, I didn’t need to re-download the 20G game – just rename your game in /Applications, download http://cloudfront.guildwars2.com/client/branches/Gw2Setup.dmg, run it, log in, it will start downloading, quit, then rename your game back to the original name and away you go.
This is only a partial fix. I can now get onto the gem store (after rebooting my comp and logging in twice), but cannot access anything else other than the pick up.
I know this is probably causing someone sleepless nights because the individuals working on this are bound to care, even if it isn’t really a company priority. So staying positive, on the bright side, at least I was able to get a free bank tab and a couple of character slots at the sale price. I also have great guildies who are offering to sell my stuff for me in the meantime. It’s not a brilliant workaround, but if you’ve got friends in the game, ask them to help you buy what you need, sell your stuff for you and then work out between yourselves how much dosh you need to exchange. Progress possible and it’s better than just complaining.
Just don’t let the mail system crash Anet…
The procedure outlined by Sarah worked for me, now I can access all the trading post functionalities.
Thanks!
I’d be happy if the bltp started to work again thats the most important, but since you guys are looking into the bltp it would be awesome if we could get a fix for the screen brightness going down every freaking time we use the bltp..
Its not that big of an issue, I know the ways to change the screen back to normal but just saying if your working on the bltp at the moment it would be awesome to finally have that little bug be gone too because it gets pretty annoying having to keep fixing the brightness after using tp everytime.. but never the less if you can fix it back to the way it was that would be good enough too..
Well, I lost my personalized arena… 1500 diamonds lost.

The update worked. Thanks ANET for working so kitten this!

Thank you, worked fine for me!
Worked! Thank you!! \^__^/
Sarah thank you so much. That worked and made my day!
I LOVE YOU!
Thanks you for this fix.
It’s good to know that we have a team that works on Mac Client.
Hope to have a “non MacBeta version” soon :P
Hmm. Well, I did just about everything that was suggested on here (patch/Sarah’s other method/restarting the game a number of times)… Still not working.
Is part of the problem Mavericks? I am not using it, personally (it screws up some of my other applications). I am running OSX 10.8.5, though.
Ok, the patch didn’t seem to fix it for me either. I just had blank screens. But then I went into “My transactions” and that loaded. I then clicked a item i had listed and then suddenly it followed the item to the TP and that loaded then. Since I did this the TP and Gemstore load and work!
Try this (hope it also works with “items i’ve sold”)
Edit: I spoke a bit too soon. The gemstone didn’t fully function yet. (also couldn’t buy gems) but after closing Guildwars2 and Force quiting -cookied, -cvmcompiler, -wineserver, and/or -guildwars2 the gemstore also works now.
(edited by Kioshi.6597)
(running Mavericks)
I patched the game as posted above by Sarah, only the Gem Store worked for and I couldn’t by new gems.
Then I did it again, this time letting the downloader run a bit longer, now it works for me. This could be for a number of reasons (including the possibility that you got a cached version of the file from a CDN and therefore simply installed the old cert again) or if the certs are downloaded at the beginning for the patch, but after I had success by trying again I’d at least recommend trying it a second time.
Oh, hey! It’s working now. At least, for the moment. Not too sure what made it go, but thanks, ANet/Sarah’s method!
oh my god it worked! thank you!<3

… to sad, my reply was to fast :-( after relog about 1,5 hours ago the issue is the same as it used to be except that I can see the stores menu on the top, but no content will be loaded – empty store picture.
So no fix for me.
My security options are ok – cross checked that idea above; so I am still waiting on a real fix for this issue again.

Few things I want to say.
First, although Anet has released a workaround for the current TP issue, however I won’t say thank you for that because you guys don’t deserve it. IT IS YOUR GODkitten JOB to maintain your product’s quality, not asking your clients to do this do that. Imagine you are ordering food at a top notch restaurant, and then they tell you to go cook it youself under their instructions.
Second, I am not going to fix the problem myself with the workaround offerred, nor logging in to play before a proper patch is dishing out. Why? Because satisfying and feeling thankful with the workaround means encouraging similar incidences in the future. It relates back to my first point, why would I say thank you when this is your job to prevent issues at your best effort.
Third, serious question: have you guys ever thought of ways to improve your support services to the mac community? It seems to me that, Anet apologises everytime they wreck something, and they keep repeating to do so in EVERY F PATCH. So your job is fixing wrecks but not preventing them?
I know my post probably is going to sink or being bashed by other players who are content with the workaround. I don’t care, but I just wanna voice out that I do not satisfy with your firm’s current service.
why is it making me re-download the whole game now? oh my god -_-
work around not working for me, no matter what gw i try and run (OLD AND NEW) it is asking me to download the whole game again?? ugh. help PLEASE SOMEONE

work around not working for me, no matter what gw i try and run (OLD AND NEW) it is asking me to download the whole game again?? ugh. help PLEASE SOMEONE
NO … Do NOT Re download the whole game. Simply put, rename your oringinal game to something else .. for example “guild wars 2X.app”. Start the installer and let it start downloading the 278K files, once it starts downloading. Stop it, Close it, go back to application folder, and delete the NEWLY CREATED “Guild Wars 2.app” and rename the old one “guild wars 2X.app” back to it’s original “Remove the X”… Thats it.
My store is still not working, even after today’s ‘update’.
Do what other people did. Restart the game many times, if it didn’t work. Try restarting the computer once or twice. And some people actually worked with them when they switch characters..
Do All of them till it work, if it didn’t. Please let us know!!
(edited by noor.7960)
Just for the record. My Gem Store & TP is still working for me. Actually it is running even faster than the past 2 years in the life of the beta version!!
I’m volunteering again to help other people who couldn’t solve their TP problems. I can sell your stuff / Buy you stuff you want / and answer your questions about prices.
I will be the same as yesterday on Divinity Reach, Gandara Server. And my name is Guardian Noor.. I will be online and helping people for the next 1 and half hour from now… Sorry that I can’t stay longer!! But thats what I can do for now!!
Oh and by the way. It’s as usual Free of Charge
Reporting back in. I was able to sell this morning after using the suggested workaround. Guess it only works intermittently.
