This problem persists for more than one month and a half. It seems that ANet really really doesn’t care at all. This is not a balance issue that you can pass away, it is the core thing, which is PLAYING the actual game! I have a job, i have things to do and the only available time when i can play is between @20:00 to 00:00 which is the exact time when the game doesn’t work.

Fourth day of the new year and lag is back again. So far 100% success. Congratulations. This time one hour sooner than normal. That’s not an improvement.

Four hours later and it’s still the same. BLAH inaccesible, skills just blinking and voila …. gray screen with omnipresent “7:11:3:191:101” (or any other random error code). And , ahh yes, auto logout from forum.

I think this thread is 3 months old. I am playing this game for 4 months and suffering lag problems since 25.10.2014, that’s more than half of my playtime here.

What really surprises me , game runs smooth without problem around 18 hours day. From 23:00 – 17:00 CET plus minus. Sure, some lag spikes happens here and there, but it’s nothing serious, then lag curtain drops down and for this year it hits with100% accurancy.

I don’t belive they don’t care, I think they simply doesn’t have enough people to fix the problem. Time to poke your bosses, that’s what they are paid for!

They can’t fix packet loss between a person’s computer and their servers. They don’t own the internet.

If all of you here would do some tracert checking, you would be able to see where the packet loss is – (hint) it isn’t at the GW2 servers.

Nevermind – just ignore this post as I’m sure no one will listen anyway.

If they refuse to fix it, it would be fine if they release official text explaining the game is and will be inaccessible for 1/4 of the day and after that …..well they can either wear clown’s cap as well. With same effect.

When I was playing World of Warcraft and there was latency issue which wasn’t caused by Blizzard’s servers, they still had power to forc…..erm …. find the source of the issue and fixed it ….or let it be fixed. Longest issue with latency in WoW history had 9 days duration I think. In case of GW2 we’re close to 100 days, do you see the difference ?

most of us knows its not the anet servers. but also none of us have any authority to demand a solution to neither anet and certainly to the ‘owners’ of those servers on route to anet.
and yet we still complain about it

I provided pathpings and you know what funny they were exactly same IPs on the way and difference unplayable and playable same 100% packets lost on 2 IPs right before destination with (+-10ms) same latency

Got back in briefly, experienced up to three-minute lag on skills, logged out and when I got back I was in a totally different place on the map, a place I hadn’t visited in several hours. Now I can’t log in again.
Pings to arenanetworks.com timeout right after my ISP, every other address works perfectly.

Sending Tracert every day in the moment connection starts to hickup to the Support@GuildWars2.com with the subject line “EU Latency Issue”, according to the instruction from Gaile Gray posted 11 days ago in this forum.

Since it’s frequent issue from pre-Christmas and post-New Year’s Eve, it’s a long list and I have packed last 20 records into archive in the attachment of this message.

Well and if I sound annoyed ? Well , my apologies, I can pardon a lot, but sitting here for few months and waiting for connection without saying a word would make me feel like a sheep.

If the product is broken and problem isn’t on my side and the issue is affecting entire Europe (but behaves somewhat random), it’s fair from me, as an custommer, to report about problem and discuss my thoughts. Unfortunately after 10th-15th message, it’s hard to keep the calm tone.

Same story again. 23.00 I managed to login, it was laggy but didnt get kicked. Around 23.20-30 it become totaly fine. I made pathpings when it was impossible to login (22.06) when it was laggy but possible to login (23.02) and when its OK (00.00) and guess what, same IP’s similar packets lost and ms but difference is between night and day

Our guild has decided to move back to a NA server instead of waiting on resolution on this issue. I’ve also started playing other games in the mean time. I haven’t even attempted to do any of the wintersday events.

fyi, you want to look at the number underneath (the ones with the |) , which is the packet loss between the two hops. The number you’re looking at is the ping response, which, for that hop specifically, is disabled. Pings may be disabled or throttled, which is why you can’t blindly judge a connection based purely on it.

Try using a VPN to reroute your connection around Telia’s network. You can try a free trial of WTFast, CyberGhost VPN or Hotspot Shield, which other players have had success with.

Thanks for posting Gaile. I think a lot of the frustration (other than not being able to play the game) comes from the feeling that ANet is passing responsibility off by the whole ‘contact your ISP’ response.

I heard a conspiracy theory that Anet is milking this lag issue to encourage people to move from EU to NA. NA currently has all the servers locked at Very High populations making the cost 1800 gems. I can’t imagine that all the servers have a Very High population especially Bronze bracket servers.

I personally can’t imagine Anet going through all that bother.

Of course you are putting as much as you can it to this issue ,
But its not just the people with the problem this effects , its all the guilds they are in and the management of them ,
disconnects in fights of key people will determine the outcome , everyone gets fedup with the problem ,
Really its about time you put out a statement with what you are doing about this ,
Or a work around that people can without cost, if the app wtfast can nullify the issue I am sure you can implement something ,
saying you are working on it is ok for the first few weeks but we are into months now ,
Later in the year you have your biggest threat to wvw and thats Cu ,
own goals like this will just confirm people to leave , as well as the lack luster attitude you have to wvw in general ,

This is not true, I am a european player ive always played on the NA server still do ( Sea of Sorrows) and i have the same latencey and lag issues

ok ive had this problem since 3 weeks it happens every eavning
my skills stop working and the i get conection lost
this happens to none of the other online games i play
its not my internet connection
all my ports are open (i have direct optical fiber wire 1GBs)
when the skills stop working i look at resource monitor and my latency is 1.800/4.000
ive spoken to my provider and its not on their end
i reinstalled the game
deleted all the files manualy
still nothing
i tried the diagnostic and the repair and they came out ok
so i have no clue

since Iam from sweden I talked to Telia now several times and they say: “at 8pm Local Time GMT we trottle our servers so support our Customers with the best possible way to get our services such as mainly Netflix” they also said “since we have no obligation towards Anet or NcSoft its on there side to send packages elsewhere if issues happen”

Not sure exactly what do to with this Info but since ALOT of us have package loss at around that time (start of EU Primetime) and several of us have the loss on (telia.net [62.115.43.74]) it seems relivant.

Despite the title of the thread this is not just an eu side thing. I am in na and dealing with the same issue. And no it’s not the owners of these problem routers to ensure connection from us to anet that is anets job. That is why I say if they need to setup their own vpns to bypass these routers to get us connected then that’s what they need to do. That or work out a deal with the owners of the other routers because guaranteed anet is gonna lose a lot of customers and money over this.

WildStar, which is hosted at the same datacenter and experiencing the same problem, has recently settled on the problem being outside of their control or simply put, it’s the ISP’s problem. Since they’re on the same network, this is basically ArenaNet/WildStar/NCSoft’s latest response.

Not surprising, however, I’m surprised they admitted to it. Throttling is illegal in Europe, though I guess since they’re not specifically throttling certain services, they’re still following the net neutrality rules since everything is still equal. What they’re basically admitting is that their network is over capacity and failing. The alternative to throttling is of course upgrading their networks, which is expensive.

They’re basically saying that NCSoft should cut their connection to Telia or pay a premium for better service.

Unfortunately, if that is Telia’s legitimate response, this issue will simply not be resolved. NCSoft could drop Telia, but that would increase your average latency as well as put more load onto the other networks.

And no it’s not the owners of these problem routers to ensure connection from us to anet that is anets job.

You’re basically asking for ArenaNet to become their own private ISP and offer you free service.

Holy moly, looks like NCsoft & Co. have some serious internal management issues.

There was a similiar matter Telia had with Youtube in 2013 where that service was very slow but using a VPN eliminated all problems. In that case Telia blamed Google for leading certain ranges of IP-addresses into a choke point instead of unused paths with huge bandwidth they had available. Your missing my point I’m not saying anet should build their own isp. I’m saying there seems to be from the logs 1 problem area in na and 1 problem are eu. All they would have to do is vpn around those specific routers to get us past them if the companies are unwilling to help with the issue. I tend to agree with gambit that we are probably intentionally being shoved into a choke point intentionally atm.

Brief description of what you’re seeing: This happens almost every day. It starts with a little skill lagg. But ends up unplayable with constant disconnections after like one hour usually. Sometimes I can’t even log on to my account for several hours during this time. Meanwhile other people from around here do not experience any lagg. And yeah it’s not my internet. I have tested and it’s full speed even when this happens.

It’s like clockwork, very reliable.
At 6.00 PM I got disconnected. I was then able to play for a while, but with a lot of lag, until I logged out and now, two hours later, I still can’t log in. The problem usually goes away at 9 PM. Let’s see.

EDIT: Yes, at 9.01 I could log in again.

I didn’t bother with another pathping, I think you probably have more than enough data by now. Instead I recorded one fight in Stonemist, probably the worst fight lag-wise of the last few days.

Typically starts when trying to interact with the world, mostly with combat and skill lag. After engaging there will be a second or two pause where everything will stop moving before a sudden flurry of activity as the client tries to catch up with the server. This happens numerous times during a single combat as well as when trying to activate items like chests or even while crafting.

Because of these repetitive bouts of mini lag I can’t really play WvW/PvP (which is what I tend to play the majority of the time) and its making PvE frustrating.

    PvP is laging a lot for me. It happens only at PvP map, not in lobby. Lags looks like with ping 300 or something (my ping is usually ~100).
