Let’s say I change server (from EU to NA), would this help me with lag? I haven’t heard NA ppl copmplaining much…

No, you’re still connected via the EU servers and will get some delay on top of that for playing on NA as an EU citizen.

If it may help,during Christmas holydays i had no lag,it was back after them….this makes me thing that is servers problem since people is back from holidays and so more people is playing. Did you do something to servers since then? Like reducing servers capacity? Cause i dont see any other explanation. Hope u fix it soon,good work

The lag is unbearable since at least a couple of months. I finished my free trial of WTFast (with that everything was really smooth, 70ping) and now I basically cannot play.

3 months of several lags and DCing ONLY on Guild Wars 2 (I play on many online games where i have about 25-30ms pings). I’ll give you my information, but as far as you’ve seen, the problem is global, so you’ll need to fix it as soon as possibile.

Location: Italy
Time and Date: almost 3 months EVERY SINGLE DAY from 18/19 CET to 23/00 CET
Game World: Far Shiverpeaks
Description: Massive lag spikes, DCings, skill delays and bla bla bla. Unplayable.
PvP Only: No, lags and DCs everywhere, on every game mod and map.
Duration: Several hours on primetime, not a single moment of breaking.
Last 5 GW2 sessions: All with lags and DCs during primetime.
Not lagging times of the day: Before 18 CET and after midnight, rest of the time unplayable.
First Lags: Not sure, around September/October 2014? Maybe before the feature patch.
Problems on other NCSoft games: I don’t play any of them but Guild Wars 2, but I play several online games (CS:GO, UT2k4, TF2, DayZ and so on) and I don’t have a single problem with lag, in fact my pings are always around 25-30ms.

Ye Italian people have problem with that ISP.Imho looks like that all people have problems when their ISP reach Gw2 servers trough TELIA servers….so basically the problem is in the middle.I have packet loss on this server and some before

I am having connection problems on daily basis, usually inbetween 17-22GMT almost every single day, with few small exceptions, but not today, game just kicked me out.

Especially in 2015 it’s almost 90% cases I can’t use the game in peak hours.

Brief description of what you’re seeing Basically, when I am in game, the game freezes, “lag spikes”, and sometimes it picks up again, and sometimes I just lag out of the game (one of the errors I’ve gotten then is Code=7:11:3:191:101).

Many times, especially today (15th) I can’t even log in with the launcher.

Bottom line, the game is unplayable at the moment.

My diary of sorts have filled up a second post, so I’m now starting a new one.

Jan 15th: At roughly 20:00 GMT I started getting repeated 7:11:3:191:101 and 42:0:9001:4409:101 error pop-ups, followed by lag spikes kicking me to character select. I could load a map from character select but would almost right away get another lag spike that kicked me to character select. Eventually the client restarted; I could log back in but the lag was still present and I got stuck on loading the map. I’ve made a proper report and have emailed a reply to my open request with a pathping log and the description above. At 20:50 GMT the lag went away. It was like flipping a switch so maybe there was an issue with the login server that got fixed at that time?

Jan 16th: No lag. Session lasted 17:00 GMT to about 21.30 GMT.

Jan 17th: Tried logging in at 19:13 GMT and had a couple of timeouts. I eventually managed to log in and select a character but got stuck on loading the map. Did a pathping and when that had finished I tried logging in again and Everything were smooth and lag-free, until 19:40 when I got a lag spike that kicked me to character select. I tried entering the game with the same character and the map took several minutes to load. Once it had loaded I could stay in-game but experienced a series of short lag spikes, ranging from ½-2 seconds, ending with a 2 minute lag spike at 19:56 GMT that eventually kicked me to character select with a 7:11:3:191:101 error. At this time I made a second pathping. Up until 20:46 I had problems logging in, and when I managed I was experiencing a mix of 2 second lag spikes to 2-minute lag spikes that kicked me. I did another pathping at 20:46 which concluded at 20:55. I tried logging in again and this time I had no problems logging in and had no lag. Like Jan 15th something magical happened around 20:50 GMT that erradicated all my issues.

Jan 18th to Jan 20th: During this time I’ve had a couple of instances where the login server has been completely unreachable for a short amount of time but mostly my sessions have been lag-free. Since these instances haven’t resembled the problems I previously experienced I haven’t mailed a report about it. I will continue to update this post till at least the end of the month, especially since there’ll be another patch in that time. At the moment I’m cautiously optimistic though.

Jan 21st: ‘twas too good to be true. After a few days of lag-free play it has once again reared its ugly head. At 19:46 GMT I started noticing small lag spikes and skill delays between half a second and 2 seconds, the lag got progressively worse and at19:58 I got kicked to character select (with the Silverwastes meta at 99% grumble). I tried loading the map but got stuck on loading; The usual scenario. I’m running the pathping now and will mail a report to be added to my open request.

Jan 22nd: At 19:15 GMT, literally seconds after looting all Tequatl chests (woot!), I got an error popup about problems connecting to the login server. A minute or so later I was kicked to character select and after that I got stuck on loading the map. I decided to close down the client and try logging in again but the login attempt kept timing out. I did a pathping and by the time it had completed I was able to log back in again with no problem and no lag. It seems the login server was unreachable for about 25 minutes, which are leaps and bounds better compared to the issues I’ve had the last two months.

Jan 23rd to Feb 3rd: I’ve not experienced any lag (as described above) during this timeframe. If the lag monster has not returned come the weekend I’ll let anet know that my case should be considered solved. Should the lag return I’ll open a new ticket and will start a new post with reference to this one.

thanks PureOwn.2069 you are correct its a telia problem… I switched to my Work VPN which is TDC and then I was online…. my home ISP is Stofa (using Telia Network).
Anet must fix connections via Telia ! Or it seems to be a Network issue related to which ISP people use. Cant really blame Telia, but Anet should look at Network/routers.

lol yea, the most of us only gets the lag problems at prime time, you can all phone Telia in your specific country, and ask them about it, and you will get some interesting answers, if you press them hard enough…

hint, it is not Telias “fault” as much as Anet or NcSoft really that have to step up.

If it’s Telia problem,Anet cant do anything for that.They dont control our ISP or how our ISP sends packets across the network; solution could be to contact our ISP and tell them about the problem…but you can imagine that probably ISP wouldnt care at all

I’ve been having some REALLY bad lag spikes specially when I’m around people in WvW, skill latency as well in PvE but its tolerable. I should point out that this started after I got my game launcher fixed and did notice the download speeds dropping down to 30 kps and up to 2 mbs ..

Last I heard, Telia’s network couldn’t handle the demand, so they were throttling their network at a certain point during certain hours, which of course causes an unstable connection. What’d you hear?

It’s Telia’s fault in the fact that their network is failing. It’s ArenaNet’s fault in the fact that they haven’t severed their connection with Telia, though that could potentially make it even worse.

Brief description of what you’re seeing: I was doing achievement run for Tangled Paths, and in the end of story instance I got dced. Had to relaunch the game, had problems with connecting but got eventually in. After replaying another story instance the dc occured again, 2 more times. Which is frustrating I killed the boss in the end, and the dc decided to occur again! Whoo! I can tell you how happy I am right now.

And this problem wasn’t caused in my end.

Hello there, game is inaccessible already and yet it isn’t prime time when “it suppose to lag” (for some strange reason I have succesfully defeated Tequatl yesterday at 19:00 GMT, for the first time this year game didn’t collapse).

The past 2 days were pretty okay for me. No weird lag just lag when there was a zerg around and also at one teq fight. Yay I can play wvw again!

Been lagging a lot for the past 2 hours, then suddenly skills stopped working, game just kicks you out and then having issues logging in. Keeps giving errors while trying to log in.
My internet is fine and everything else works smoothly except for GW2.
All my 20 online friends are marked as “Unknown”. Still can’t log in and play properly for quite a while now.

Logged on for wvw raiding at 7pm GMT+1, could play maybe 15 minutes before seeing people rubberbanding everywhere, teleporting everywhere, all my skills froze etc.
Set the graphics to “best performance” which didn’t change anything of course.

Now, I usually get the “can’t connect to the login server” error message, or I get as far to the character selection, select a character and load into Lion’s Arch eternally, until I after 5-10 minutes ctrl+alt+delete.

Never had these issues before the patch, not sure if the patch is the reaspm though.
Firewall, ports, anti-virus disabled.
Restarted my router as well.

not directly after the patch (I’ve played the story mission without problems) but now a few days later: massive lag( skills I press execute half a minute later and mobs stand around for seconds before they are suddenly all over me.

Hello there, game is inaccessible already and yet it isn’t prime time when “it suppose to lag” (for some strange reason I have succesfully defeated Tequatl yesterday at 19:00 GMT, for the first time this year game didn’t collapse).

With this kind of progression we will soon have to make new forum thread where people will report when game actually works. Because it’s rare.

Game was playable around 18:30-21:30 GMT today, but lag is back again. Game still didn’t kick me back to lobby, but some lag spikes are around 5-10 seconds long.

– How long does the lag spike last? Does it ever clear up? – Issue usually starts with small delay and it ramps up within 30 minutes to the moment game disconnects me. From that moment it’s impossible to log in again. Situation clears up usually 4 hours later
– Of your last 5 GW2 play sessions, in how many of them did you experience lag? – 4 out of 5
– When do you remember first experiencing lag of this severity in GW2? – since 25.10.2014, situation was slightly better between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, but last month it’s 15 out of 16 days with problems.
– Do you also experience lag playing other games? NCsoft games like Wildstar? – Dont play Wildstar, other MMO like Rift works fine for me.
– Do you live in NA or EU? – EU

Time and Date – Yesterday i couldnt even log in from about 18 to 20 (GMT +1). Today i can log in but got 5-10 sec skill delays.
Game World – Seafarer’s Rest
Description – Lags, DC’s, lags, DC’s, lags, DC’s for no reason.
PvP Only – No, i have lags everywhere.
Duration – Several hours, mostly in the evenings.
Last 5 GW2 sessions – 2 of 5 were with lags and DC’s.
Not lagging times of the day – In the mornings, at nights.

I’m sorry that this problem is still going on. My associate Mark got some information about this and posted this earlier:

An update on this. The team is actively working towards a solution for the lag issue many of you have experienced. They have already tried a few potential fixes that did not yield the expected results and are continuing to root out potential causes.
Suffice to say, they aren’t ignoring this problem.

I am extremely kittened right now!!! So this PR bull is not really working Ms. Gaile. The problem is still here after over two months sice the first reports from the players. I see 20 pages of logs from ppl and no solution from you (as in the gw2 staff). No one had to help you guys out and post those logs, but they did because they wanted to play your buggy game. In response you STILL fixed NOTHING.

I just logged in played for 15 mins (extermely laggy), and guess what happened? I got dc again :/ Now I cannot even log in. I get to character screen and the game just kicks my kitten out. But hey new gemstore items right? kitten yeah!!! Doesnt matter that we can’t play, kitten that.

I read reddit today and it seems you are about to annouce an expansion for this game (just assumptions). If that is indeed the case then do you think ppl like me will buy it if we cant use the game at all?

The supported. Provide a comfortable game!

The game is unplayable tonight – from 6 p.m. (GMT+1), and I’m still unable to play.
Experiencing heavy lag spikes, and dc.

Playing from EU, Hungary.
ISP: DIGI cable
Server: Piken Square
Map: Silver Wastes, Southsun Cove (latter was empty).

Since after 6 pm the game threw me out, I went to play D3, and guess what? I had no problems – no lag, no dc. I was checking back in to GW2, but it just plain frustrating. On other days, after 10 pm, it was alright, but not tonight.

I’d love to play with the new content. Unfortunatelly, I think I’m not going to persist. Soon it’s time to throw this game out the window – no matter the new hype about the upcoming possible expansion, this lag and dc issue is really, really kittening me off. The little time I have as a working individual, is just not worth to waste it on watching lag and dc.

I want to start out with apologies to anet. This situation is very frustrating and even more so now that I am positive I know what the problem is for me at least. The sad part is I don’t know a resolution, but I’m almost certain there is illegal activities on the part of 2 competing isp’s here. So realizing that my packets were being dropped at a router before anet’s servers I called my provider Comcast to come check out the problem. When I finally got a technician here physically I showed him what happens when I get routed through that particular router. He assured me there was nothing he or Comcast could do because they don’t own that router, consequently they did own the router just before the packet loss. Ok makes sense. So as he left I figured my only option is to find the owner of the router so I do a whois on the ip. Come to find out the owners are Level 3 Communications. Wiki time right? Who the hell are these guys and how do I contact them? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_3_Communications. HAHAHA interesting, I really liked the part at the bottom under disputes. So when I travel the internet I’m jumping straight from a Comcast router to a Level 3 communications router, which are not just direct competition but have been in major law suits with Comcast. Well anyway I get on the phone with these guys and inform them of my problems getting through their router and they are kind enough and say they are going to look into but as I’m talking to the guy his buddy in the background says he had to reboot some equiptment. So makes sense their equiptment is down so depending on how it’s setup or what is failing I may not get through atm anyway. So atm I’m waiting to see what happens once the routers and or servers are back up. I will be interested to see if i’m able to login after that. Needless to say if you look at the webpage I posted along with my trace log, these ones in particular.

It’s quite interesting as soon as I go from a Comcast owned router to a Level 3 owned router all my data is dumped. If it’s not illegal it should be, both companies should be ashamed of themselves. Although I would say it seems to me Comcast is the bully here Level 3 is just as low. Also the Netflix thing seems to be an issue with these companies, and I know much of the eu base has said something similar about telia. Just trying to get the info I have gathered out there to see what others think and see if we can come up with any solutions. Thanks for your time guys.

A few seconds of lag seems to have become the rule rather than the exception. It does not appear to be related to frame rate; I have experienced it with frame rates ranging from 30 fps to over 60 fps. Nor does it seem to be confined only to peak times or highly populated maps. Network diagnosis attached.

The lag issue seems to have reappeared for me in the last few days, so I’ll add my name to the list. Least it isn’t just me….

- Time and date of incident (plus time zone)? 18:00 GMT – 00:00 GMT, 16/01/15 onwards.

- Game World? Gandara

- Brief description of what you’re seeing? Skill lag, lag spikes, rubber banding, disconnects.

- Does the lag only happen while you’re in a PvP map? Does it also occur in the PvP lobby? Other maps? Experienced it in both WvW and PvE maps.

- How long does the lag spike last? Does it ever clear up? During the times stated it is pretty constant. Outside of those times the connection is fine.

- Of your last 5 GW2 play sessions, in how many of them did you experience lag? All.

- Are there specific times of day when do or you don’t experience lag? 00:00 GMT – 18:00 GMT no problems.

- When do you remember first experiencing lag of this severity in GW2? Had issues periodically but, of this incident, Friday.

This game has become unplayable since last patch.

Note: I’m having lag issue just with GW2. Everything else runs fine.
