Latency/Lag for EU Players? [merged]
Started today, around 5pm GMT – On both NA (isle of janthir) and my EU (far shiver peaks) accounts. my location is england, gloucester. it is ping, in game and only in this game, lag. Game is unplayable. cant even dodge roll tells. FIX THIS BUNNYHOPPING POOH plz…….
North Italy, almost impossible to play ,huge lag spikes, and packet loss.
The first packet loss is from your internet connection, you can talk to your provider and ask what’s up there.

It’s about kittening time for a solution. It’s been more than half a year now without any improvement.
I just tried to play Sanctum Sprint with lags, which resulted in 4 out of 5 times falling down when using skill 3 (lightning pull).
This is a kittening bad joke.
The first packet loss is from your internet connection, you can talk to your provider and ask what’s up there.

During EU Prime I can usually log into Kodash. Right now, 7pm Pacific and I cannot. I mean I can log in and get to Lion’s Arch, but connecting to a WvW map hangs at the loading screen until the client times out 15m later. It’s like during NA Prime the EU servers take their European Union mandated coffee break.

I am playing with less than 30fps on PvP, which is ridiculous!

For real, only GW2 lags, it has to be on ur side, im playing GW2 since beta and never had problems like that. Started like 6 months ago and was the main reason that ive stopped playing GW2 and changed my main MMO, but now i came back, and lag is still here, making the game just not enjoyable. I’m getting more frustrated and im thinking about changing my game forever ;(

Id also like to add to my initial post that I use the same ip as a friend who lives 15 miles away and is having no problems with gw2. I, on the otherhand have had a ping that used to be 40 change to 150-250 and sometimes worse overnight; and is still like it.
I also have a worry that this is not going to be rectified as there seems to be little communication on the problem even being present. The problem is not with our isp’s its with your server routing or something similar; nothing would have changed my end. I would like to know why this would affect one person, and not the other on the same isp; the same contract and living near each other?
It seems to be like you are farming some of the population out to cheaper (worse) servers due to underestimating player numbers in the megaserver system or alternatively trying to cut costs. I would like to know how these people are chosen.
I would also suggest that this method will not work; noone will be purchasing the expansion if they cannot play the base game due to this. I feel like this is not an “error” but a conscious decision by you guys on the server side that is most definitely the wrong one. Please inform us if this is the case? I had excellent ping and server response before and would like to be confident you can sort this out. Good luck!
ok i’ve done the log and send to your mail, but it seems u cant do nothing (that’s your reply) atm is funny for exaple i have no lag in some content but i have a massive lag in fireheart rise, i cant even log the map now…. but no problem in other maps etc etc… i’ve learned every map, dungeon, spvp map have a different IP, and with the pingplotter test i see the packet loss inside ncsoft server, so that’s the problem guys, now u can solve it or u can ignore it…

Description: This thread is 5 months old, but I only started experiencing this problem from a few days ago. It’s not as bad for me as it is for others posting. The problem presents as small % packet loss and high jitter latency. This causes frequent (every couple or few seconds) lag spikes resulting in input from me being delayed and abrupt changes in combat situations. It’s not acceptable and unplayable. Performance tests on both my PC and internet connection exclude these as likely causes.

Summary: Source of the issue is consistently the TINET interconnect between NCSoft and the rest of the internet. Issue can also be replicated by doing a tracert on Guildwars2.com, with the same bottleneck.

ISPs dont care who NCsoft is or what GW2 is and they dont have to.
NCSOFT wants to sell a game (content) so they have to ensure to have good uplinks to all major ISPs , jes they have to pay for that like serious companies do.
you dont have latency or bandwith issue with e.g. netflix for a reason and this reason is called money.

The game is completely unplayable and, from what the official support tells me, ANet will not do anything about this. I quote from the response I got from Support:
“As much as we want to help resolve this issue for you, we simply do not have any control over this type of problem. At best, we have limited control over the data once it reaches the Guild Wars 2 servers. The problem is that this packet loss is happening prior to that event. As such, we simply have no direct or even indirect control over that data and how it’s transferred. That’s the sole responsibility of your ISP, which is why you are paying for that service.”
So, contrary to what has been stated before in this thread, it is my understanding that this problem will not be solved.
(Please note that the packet loss is happening not on my provider’s network, but on Telia network at the hop where it connects to NCsoft network.)

Today I checked, I was connected to206.127.159.154 (tried ports 80 and 443 though), there is no packet loss even when I’m lagging (checked with ping). According to tcpdump, there’s just no packets coming from the game server.

Description: Skill delays (lags between 3-10 seconds), pings of 300+ or even returning with “cannot ping” error, disconnects a minute or so after first experiencing the skill lag.
Already filed the requisite bug report in-game, but it feels like a futile gesture.

Description: Megalag. It says im not connected to a guild, offline on the server even if im online, get random dc without any warning. Yesterday i teleported across all tyria and checked ip in every map. Some maps/servers are totally messed up like, it says youre not connected to a login server and that youre not in a guild and friendslist is offline. Some other maps/servers are kinda stable but have seconds of delay of lags. This is both in pve and pvp maps/servers. The chat lags as well, especially the ones thats connected to the guild chat, sometimes i cant even see the guild chat. No, its not my internet connection because many i know, which live across the world which play on eu have the same issues in the same maps/servers like i have.
After about one month of no latency, since yesterday it’s the same story all over again.

Does seem that the tests for this new patch and HoT on the live servers is creating this unplaying lag and random dc in the last 3-4 days. Can anet not test for bugs on different servers designed for that, testing. Instead of trying to save money and use the same servers which is CLEARLY created unplayable gaming for 1000s of people. After all this time anet still havent learn’t to keep players, the game must be PLAYABLE;

Well… since the 140-pages-thread over at the german forums is beeing ignored….. i guess i will just have to also bump this thread every day from now on.
This lag is getting ridiculous. The game is unplayable during prime time.
Lag issue is becoming unacceptable, during prime time the game suffer a lot and i mean A LOT of lag spikes that makes the game, especially in moments that need to be focused and reactive (like bosses in dungeon that require specific mechanics other than zerg), not enjoyable at all, i’m experiencing froze for couple of seconds where the game just stop doing everything. My connection si fine (50 Mbits optical fiber, if needed will attach a speedtest img) and my pc is a 3k gaming RIG with no problem whatsoever running whatever i want.
Please this problem need to be addressed and solved ASAP, since lot of player just say that is due to the upcoming patch and the work that the arenanet is putting onto it, but this means nothing, since the game must remain playable in any aspect regardless what is going on behind the scenes.
One thing that completely confuses me is…. why am I connecting to Telia.net if im in NA? I’ve been having huge latency problems for 2 weeks now. I’ve tried IPs 64.25.33.86; 64.25.38.230; and 64.25.40.118.
They all have 50%+ packet loss. I dont know why I’m being routed to an EU provider?
