I submitted a ticket and the technician had me update my graphics drivers and actually wanted me to decrease one of the graphics settings via my nVidia control panel. I did everything but decrease my graphics settings. I have an EVGA GTX 680 so I find it hard to believe the graphics card or any other part of my system can’t handle the game at max settings. However, I will say that the problem is happening much less frequently.

That being said, can we get an update from either Ashley Segovia or anyone else about the status of this issue?

I can’t help but think that this issue is also related to the “invisible armies” issue and slow character rendering issues in highly populated and active areas. Also, this issue was never apparent at launch or in beta which is really strange.

My husband and I are playing and having this same exact issue.
His does it more frequently than mine but we are using different hardware.
Our issue is simply holding down left and right mouse button at the same time
it randomly releases and completely stops character movement and if we continue holding it will resume eventually.

He has a Logitech wired G500 and I have a Logitech wired G700.

It does it while turning as well as running in a straight line. It seems to be worse in more populated areas. He’s about to throw his mouse out the window, hence I’ve landed here to find some assistance! Thanks

I have a Razer Naga Molten, and I’ve updated to the latest firmware, don’t have that weird cloud-setting thingy.

I’m having this problem and just got the new update, and now the right click for screen pan registers maybe 1 out of 10 times? The game is literally unplayable now since I can’t focus on any target that movies. I have to use key movement only, and that doesn’t work in this kind of combat game.

It looks like I’m going to miss playing the whole GW2 Halloween events because I can’t play worth crap.

I’m hoping to see if I still have another mouse (doubtful) and hope the problem doesn’t come back but still. A month of complaints and nothing but watching it get worse? And I paid for this and you want yet more money from me from the Gem Store?

I am using a Dell Wireless Optical mouse and have been having issues whereby the camera registers the right-mouse button as being released when I am trying to turn the camera. This means that I have to right-click and drag multiple times to turn the camera, especially during movement This problem has been present since Day 1 and has yet to be resolved despite me sending in multiple bug reports about the issue.

Now, under normal circumstances, this does not cause too much inconveniences for me except in PvP/WvW. However, the release of the Halloween Jump Puzzle – the Mad King Clock Tower – has brought a new sense of urgency to me regarding this issue. The puzzle allows almost no room for error, which means that the camera failing to turn even though I have not released the right-mouse button certainly results in failing the puzzle. This is not an issue in normal jump puzzles where I have sufficient time to right-click, hold and shift the camera properly before making the jump.

I have tested my mouse on the highest graphical settings on other games, including Aika Online, Battlefield 3, Sevencore and Allods Online without experiencing any of the right-click, hold and rotate camera issue.

Razer Naga Epic was doing this pretty badly. I bought a new mouse, and I’m on a limited budget, so this is pretty frustrating.

New mouse (different model of Naga) has less problem but was not gripping the screen yesterday, less issues today.

I am also having the “right mouse button not working” problem. I use a Razer Mamba and I use it in wired mode. Everything has been updated. This is the only game I’m experiencing this problem in. I’ve been dealing with this since the pre-launch and it’s driving me nuts. The clock tower jumping puzzle is completely impossible because of this.

I am having this same issue. I haven’t played that game for more then a couple weeks and before it was working no problem. Now since I updated the game and logged on its been catching sometimes when I hold the right mouse button and sometimes not. I notice when I hold the right click I can still see the mouse pointer and it doesn’t move the camera but if I keep the right button held and move to the very edge of the screens it will then catch and move the camera.

I think maybe I’ve had this issue all along, but I can’t remember and it certainly wasn’t as bad as it has been lately. It was pretty bad during the festival activities and in combat so maybe it’s right clicking on “something” that’s causing it to lose the connection.

Logitech G700 using whatever drivers Windows 7 assigns. I’m using it in wireless mode.

Im on the other side of this problem, my mouse 2 is broken or right click. i have the razer death adder so i have a mouse 3 and 4. i was wondering if there is an option in the menu some where to change my right click function to mouse 3 or mouse 4. ive look everywhere in the options but cant find it any where is there even an option?

Been having this issue since early in the game’s release. Funny enough it did not happen during any of the Beta weekends. Sometimes it gets really bad too.

Like the other posters, this issue does not come up anywhere I’m using my mouse…except in GW2.

I am running a Logictec G5 laser and started having this issue in the EARLY OCTOBER patch. Driver is the Win 7 default (from OS), I do not have the logictec bloatware software running.

Symptoms: Its appears to be totally random. I can be not touching any keys and I will hear the audio “da,dom” sound that tells me that it just occured. It makes that sound each time it goes into effect, and then again when it clicks out of what ever it is doing. It happens more often when I click both left and right click buttons at the same time. When the effect is “on” I cannot pan with mouse at all, and the right click turns into “move foward”. This effect also changes how my Nostromo Razor Keypad reacts as well with movement (joystick) controls, though I don’t remember exactly what it did. I will attempt to pay more attention the next few times it occurs so I can record the symptoms.

A test I did because it was being really annoying…

I can right click and start moving the mouse all around and it responds properly, but then it stops responding and I get the cursor.

Without releasing the right click…

I can keep moving the mouse all around the game window and it’ll eventually pick it back up and start causing the camera to move again.

Basically.. I can keep the right button held down indefinitely and watch the game lose/regain/lose/regain the connection.

Man, it’s really bad right now. It’s definitely not an issue of clicking on things in the background.. there’s no one around and it’s very quiet where I’m at.

Having the same problem with the right-click mouse look not registering all the time.

I’m using a wired Logitech G500 and just upgraded to the most recent version of the drivers and SetPoint once this problem started a few days ago.

I have no issues with the mouse running other software or games. Just GW2.

So it was another bad day and I decided to try different things to see what I could find out.

First, the way I can reproduce this issue is by right clicking and just running the mouse around the game area and eventually it loses focus and then eventually it’ll regain it.

Next I’d like people having issues to try right click dragging around the Windows desktop. You should get a square selector and when you let go of the button it should bring up the right click menu.

If the mouse is losing the ‘square’ without you releasing the button I’d like you to try putting more pressure on the button (press hard) and see if you can reproduce the issue with the Windows desktop and in Guild Wars.

Basically, what I noticed was that if I pressed down harder on the button I didn’t have any issues.

I suspect maybe it IS the mouse and we’re just feathering the touch.

And really how often are we holding down the right button for extended periods of time? I think maybe we just haven’t noticed this issue before because we weren’t using the mouse like we are in Guild Wars 2 (though Diablo 3 comes to mind so maybe that wore it down a bit? hah).

Anyways, just curious to see what results people might have.

I thought the same at the start. But like I said previously, I even coded a software to track true and false button releases.
Guess what ? the mouse has no problem, it is really the game that sends false releases (13-200ms “double clicks”, impossible for a human).
I however did your little test, and noticed no problem. I even disassembled my mouse to apply some contact cleaner.

I have logs and everything, but Anet doesn’t seem interested in this prioritary problem (camera problem with gaming grade mouses is a really bad bug).
I even proposed some theories, to no avail (i’m an IT support technician myself).

I guess I will have to wait until next year to do the clock tower jumping puzzle… Oh wait I’ll be somewhere else, if this bug stays too long time… Playing like this, is really not pleasant.

I have a g700 and this issue comes and goes.. i had it the first few weeks of release and then it just disappeared but with the halloween update its back with a vengeance.. the clock tower is impossible… Anet please fix this.

Yeah, for sure it’s not pleasant. I’m wondering if perhaps my experiences with it though are a failing mouse.

I also tried right click dragging around the desktop like Asrial had done. No problems on my gaming rig, but when plugging it into an older pc using usb 2.0 it started losing focus all the time.

I think in my case it is a failing mouse. I started playing GW2 with a backup (non gaming) optical mouse and have had no problems as of yet.

I had problems with this again last night and this time it was in Lions Arch when there were not very many people around at all. At this point I have done everything suggested by technical support – updated all drivers, reduced settings, etc. Can we get an update from someone on this issue please?

what is the status from the development team on this? is this even being investigated by ArenaNet?

Razer Naga wired here with the same problem. I have tested it on other mmo games using the same type of movements and the mouse is fine. It is only in Guild Wars 2 that I have issues and it is ruining my gameplay whether it be pve or pvp.

someone earlier in this thread (a month ago) put into words exacdtly how I would describe the situation:

“Same problem here, its very weird and makes it very hard to kite the baddies I want to kill.

From my experience it happens worse the more furious the combat and less when i am running around exploring the nooks and crannies.”

What this guy said is exactly how I feel. The movement I get into intense movement (usually combat), the right/left clicking problems start up.

It is really impacting PvP and dungeons for me. It is incredibly frustrating to lose my target simpl because I use my mouse buttons to move my camera and such. I do hope an option comes up in teh future to change this

I’ve used the same mouse (naga razer) for movement in otehr mmos and never had the problem. I will do anything to not have these issues – even if it means accepting its some fault of mine for some reason. Im guessing it has to do with how I am virtually always holding down my right click button.

It just really hurts the gameplay for me.

It seems to be getting worse with each subsequent patch since early October. it’s gotten so bad now that I can no longer play. I’ve tried everything i can think of. Everything else on my PC is tip top.

Keyboard turning in pvp because the right-click just flat out refused to aknowledge the presses just doesn’t cut it Anet.

This game, at least for me, is now not fit for purpose, and unless it gets fixed VERY soon, I may have to take things further…

This bug hasn’t been in play since release. I played through all the Beta weekends and early in release with this bug not surfacing. But since it has appeared, it has been constant and it actually seems to be getting worse.

Used to happen mainly when things were crowded. Now it’s starting to happen more and more through ordinary roaming around in the world in uncrowded places (and when it’s crowded, turning with right click is so unreliable I have to keyboard turn)

I have this problem too.

Logitech M500 wired USB latest drivers, no drivers, makes no odds.

No point in playing if I can’t move/turn using mouse.

Do I put a ticket in, or is it gonna be fixed?

I always use the RMB-mouselook to steer while moving around. And, as so many others in this thread, I sometimes eventually get my cursor (GW2 style) back and have to push the RMB again.
On the first few occurrences of this issue, I just thought I might have accidentally released the RMB. But at a point I became more aware of this problem. Every time my RMB is “released” I double check if my finger is still pushing the button down, and every time it is.
And now I stumbled across this thread, reading about other people with this very issue.
I hope it’s fixable rather sooner than later.

@everybody using two monitors: Try “Windowed Fullscreen”. This GW2 should not minimize when you accidentally click on the other monitor. So you can get back into the game much quicker.

I run around in these games with my RMB pressed down all the time. Never before I ran in such an issue.

Same issue. Logitech MX400 Laser Mouse. Wired. Using Setpoint Drivers 5.33.14.

Issue occurs infrequently in solo PvE. Occurs very frequently in WvW when in combat. Mouse turning holding RMB suddenly fails, leaving character essentially uncontrollable via mouse. Typically lasts several seconds. Then control returns (assuming character is still alive after 5 seconds of immobility in a pvp situation ;-) ). Very frustrating, esp. as so much good to say about GW2. Seems to have started occuring sometime in the last month.

Any news on this Anet ?

I have a naga and still suffer from the same issues, so while I hope getting one fixes your issues, it didn’t for me

I was afraid of this.
So I bought nothing. I won’t waste more money in this game until this bug is fixed.
For the moment, it is only getting worse, and I’m afraid it will be the same with every gaming mouse.

Well my old logictech G9 (I miss read it the first time as most of the text is worn off this mouse) is getting long in the tooth (5 or 6 years old) so I went and ordered a new G500 and it should be in on Wed, or Thur’s. So I will test it out using just the OS software (Win7) first this comming weekend and see if that solves anything. Though I suspect it may not. I have been using right click panning in MMO’s for 10 years now, starting with DAOC, then Lineage II, Aion, LOTRO, Rift, Tera, PW, back to DAOC and now GW2. GW2 is the only game I have encountered this issue with. I hope Anet can fix this soon. Either way…. some feedback from the CSR’s of this forum would really help to know if they are actively tracking this down or not.

This has gotten even worse with this latest patch. Nobody else around and it has been dropping the camera 9 out of 10 times and when it doesn’t drop it it only holds the camera for around 1-2 seconds then drops it again. Unplayable like this.

Well I got a NEW Logictec G500 in last night, plugged it in and only using Win7 drivers (no logictec bloatware) it appears to have FIXED the problem. So apparenty both my G9 and my other older no brand spare mouse were either defective or had some other issue with this game. New mouse is smooth as silk, and runs great thus far. If I notice any problems over the weekend I will report them here. I am not noticing the loss of control that I previously encountered, or any stutters or issues using either right or left clicks for panning or character control.

After uninstalling my synapse on my razer naga my problem cleared up for a few days but It came back. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my mouse drivers several times and nothing seems to fix this. When this first started happening to me the first thing I did was update my mouse drivers, even a cave monkey would think of that.

So funny enough when I filled out a support request(attached to my support ticket was hijackthis, gw2 diag, and game advisor. This is what I got back “Thanks for bringing this to our attention blah blah, I see your using a razer naga blah blah, please update your drivers and is there anything else I can help you with?” Ticket is now closed. lol

I have logged onto my account from 3 other rigs all with different mice and hardware. All of them experience this loss of focus. Alot of warrior hammer moves self root you after the skill and makes loss of camera control with right click even worse. This problem seems to get worse and worse. I hope the NOV 15th update isn’t just more BLTC HOLIDAY fluff and more fixes.

If there are any people with this problem that also have a warrior main/alt, let us know if you can recreate this bug with the hammer bugs at the same time. It’s a worse bug then SWTOR’s ability lag. At least we could mouse move.

I have a Razer Naga Molten Edition on a Razer Vespula mat.

Guild Wars 2 is the only game I have this problem with. ArenaNet are usually pretty quick at fixing stuff, as is my experience in Guild Wars … my only fear is that they are not even aware that there is an issue :-(

I had a problem when mouse turning with right mouse button held down (RMB-mouselook) with my razer naga. Problem was fixed by opening up my naga and sanding down the plastic contact inside the naga, this had a groove worn into it that was stopping it connecting properly.

You may need to google how to get inside you brand of mouse, naga was a bit tricky but there are heaps of good youtube vids.

Happens with Razer Lachesis and with an A4Tech mouse and a generic mouse, basically whenever I turn my camera away with any type of mouse, it loses focus, no matter what mouse button I was holding.

I forgot to post what hardware I was having problems the most with…. I own a Logitech g700 and get right button mousing focus loss. Recently over the weekend while using WASD and right mouse button look I get stuck randomly by skills and have to release W and tap it repeatedly to get it to respond again. It is like some skills are causing forward movement to fail and root the player. I swapped in a walmart el-cheapo keyboard to see if my aging saitek was the culprit but alas the game continued to lose mouse focus and WASD in WvW was still wonky and unreliable.

Bah – never occurred to me that it might be the game; I assumed my mouse was shot and got a new one New G700 working fine with sampling at ~500, but old Logitech wireless 150 (I think; it’s gone now) …same as above.

Agreed. I can play all (ALL) my other games/mmo’s with no mouse issues … which is one of the (primary) reasons I spent so much on my mouse/mat/keypad.

The issue is with Guild Wars 2, NOT my mouse.

I logged on today after downloading the most recent build. I went to WvW and the problem you all are experiencing happened to me, especially in large battles. Just yesterday, I was playing all day and there were no problems at all. So I was wondering if that recent build bugged me or not. Btw I’m using Logitech G500.

This issue is driving me insane.

This issue (right click mouse turning being dropped) primarily occurs in very crowded areas like WvW and Cursed Shore farm spots.

Well I thought I recieved help on the issue because it cleared up for a day after uninstalling/reinstalling my vid driver which clearly is not the issue. The Tech said my drivers were out of date when in fact they were not. I had a fresh windows installation prior to getting gw2, so of course all my drivers are up to date.

It happens to me no matter where on the server but especially during peak times. I find it hard to believe this many people have a faulty mouse or old drivers as the source of the exact same problem.
