So did everyone just give up on this issue after being told to “update drivers” that don’t need to be updated or have you all found a solution? Maybe your using another mouse instead of the higher dollar gaming mouse you payed for that doesn’t seem to want to work with GW2?

I’m just curious because I tried playing with a regular mouse but decided to quit instead. I’ve grown too fond of my mmo mouse and I’m not going back just because GW2 has these issues, I’d rather quit and take my money with me. Don’t let me fool you though I have enjoyed the game very much and I find it crazy I’m not playing anymore because of my mouse compatibility with the game…

Well, the issue seems to be almost gone in my case, and it’s really more enjoyable now. I also learned how to fix a micro-switch, which is really helpfull :p
Maybe you could try that also ?

This has been an ongoing problem for me as well, I thought it was something physical (cat hair/gunk) under the plastic that actually moves down onto the switch…but I couldn’t get it to happen outside of game. Maybe I am still not totally sane, but at least now I know I am not crazy.

Even when this is fixed, I will still hate jump puzzles…but maybe a little bit less.

I like jump puzzles, but having this issue as well

logitech g9 mouse, right click not sticking when trying to turn camera for movement.
setpoint software doesnt seem to make a difference if its off or on. And this issues just started happening after the big game event. Did not have trouble before that. Doesnt happen with other games. running in admin mode on setpoint doesnt seem to help fully but does make a difference. cant post a ticket at work will try later.

I submitted my ticket regarding about this issue. Just to let everyone know, I’m using a Razer Naga which is around 2-3 years of age from the time I bought it. When I encountered this issue in GW2, I tried other online games and I don’t have a problem. I tried other PC game titles such as the popular FPS out in the market and it works superb. Thinking that it is my mouse drivers I updated my mouse drivers. I also re-installed Guild Wars 2 but still the same issue. I decided to turn-off Razer Synapse which is the application for Razer users to do the macro for their unit/product but the issue persisted. Not giving up, I decided to step-out and buy another Razer Naga. Now I have two Razer Naga(s) and the new one is ‘experiencing the same issue’. It is now impossible to say that it is the hardware that is the problem. I’ve gone to huge lengths to the point that I bought a new one even when my present one is still working great.

So please developers, help us out here. It seems that the game itself has issues with gaming mouse(s) not only with Razer and Logitech but as what I have read in this thread, it is happening to any popular or semi-popular gaming mouse that is sold in the market. We bought such piece of hardware to enhance our gaming experience as we enjoy the game at the comfort of our homes but the issue is so infuriating and frustrating as it happens most of the time during critical moments may it be PvE or PvP.

You just might have fond a solution to my mouse problem.

I do “see” my right-click out of game does indeed double-click, especially right-clicking on a link to open in another tab.

I knew my gut instinct was to blame Logitech was well founded.

I have the same issue. Specs:
- 2 monitors (seems to be the primary reason for the problem)
- currently a razer naga although I’ve used everything from logitech to white label garbage to laptop touch pads
- tried under xp, win7 and win8, x64 and x86. Makes no difference
- tried on an old p4 pc a dell laptop, an acer laptop and a brand new i7 pc. Makes no difference

My observations:
- Guild Wars 1 also had these problems
- Issue 1: Mouse moves out of the main windows, shows briefly on the other monitor and blinks back. If, in the meanwhile, you click, game minimizes.
- Issue 2: Right click doesn’t work outright when pointing at an NPC or Player. Turning in LA, WvW or, god forbid, the Mad Clocktower is nigh impossible

Trials and tribulations:
- right mouse button works in every other program. I did many tests on the desktop, word and other games
- run as administrator doesn’t change a thing
- playing full screen is the worst because of minimize. Playing full-screen windowed is manageable because you “just” lose focus.
- updating drivers, os or what have does not help in the slightest. This is a Guild Wars problem.

I support these kind of problems as my job, my income depends on finding such problems (and forwarding them to relevant developers). This problem is real and verified. If you can’t take my word for this, feel free to check my credentials. I’m connected to Rubi Bayer on linkedin.

Teamviewer is available to conclusively show the problems in real time.

Would seem that my mouse was to blame in my instance… I broke down and bought a new logitech g600 and its all good now… i did more testing with my g700 and noticed it was not clicking properly with the right button. So for now this issue is solved for me… cross my fingers this issue doesn’t pop up again for a long time.

I lowered polling rate for my naga to lowest (125Hz). This seems to help with the right click problem for now however the out-of-screen problem still exists. Since I paid 90 euros for a mouse which I intended to use with a 150 euro game… something seems wrong when I have to disable the core functionality of a high precision mouse. I do not agree with an 8ms mouse lag in this scenario.

Please… find out what’s wrong with the GW2 engine.

I got my reply from ANet’s support and it was just full of disappointment. Now i tried to look into the issue and apparently it seems that the issue is indeed not in our mouse but rather with Guild Wars 2 itself.

How did I identify this? Here’s my lengthy explanation.

I placed 3 mouse in my desktop
1.) 3 Year old Razer Naga
2.) Newly bought a week ago Razer Naga
3.) Logitech M100r ( an ordinary mouse )

Now, my Razer Synapse which is the client / software of Razer for items such as the Naga, the settings of it when I have the issue was:

[ X-Y Sensitivity disabled ]
DPI Sensitivity 1,800
Acceleration = 5
Polling Rate 1800
Side Panel Number Bind = Default to 123
NO MOUSE BINDS

When I use any of my Razer Naga it’s having issues with the Right Click not holding and of course its frustrating especially in critical moments either PvE or WvW or sPvP. While they are both still plugged in, I used the Logitech Mouse and there are no problems. One thing that I noticed is that the logitech mouse uses the default drivers of windows thus it refers to the mouse configuration panel which is located in ‘Control Panel’ of Windows systems. My settings above are really high if you ask any ordinary user. Too much sensitivity and which is apparently Guild Wars 2’s issue. Guild Wars 2 seems to be (my theory correct me if I am wrong) getting its mouse sensitivity and other settings from the default mouse configuration and thus unable to comprehend which one to follow if you have a personal client like Razer Synapse. This gave me an idea, what if I replicate some of the default settings of an ordinary mouse.

So what I did was :
1. Remap all my Utility Skills to F1-F5 ( Did this inside GW2 Options )
2. Professional Skills Moved to letter keys ( A, D, Z, C )
3. Rebind the keys above to the numbers on the side panel of Razer Naga through Razer Synapse.

On my Razer Synapse the changes are as follows.
Enabled X-Y Sensitivity
Sensitivity Settings:
X-1500
Y-1500

Acceleration Set to 1
Polling Rate Set to 500

Restarted my computer after implementing the settings and now my Razer Naga(s) are working perfectly again. Now ANet may say that it’s not the game’s issue. Apparently it is the game’s issue in my perspective. Other games out in the market are working fine with Razer’s products may it be First Person Shooter types or another popular MMO out in the market aside from WoW.

Overall, I would say that the game is not able to accept the following if you have a gaming mouse like Razer Naga or Logitech Gaming mouse(s) or any extravagant gaming mouse.

1. Number Key Macro
2. High(er) Polling Rate
3. Higher Sensitivity Value(s).

So far my Razer Naga got me back into action. Having this gaming mouse kept me at a good edge with any player that I face.

@ArenaNet
Kindly check on the compatibility of Guild Wars 2 with gaming mouse(s). These mouse(s) are not a bang for a buck price and also as you aim for E-Sport-ing the PvP, products such as mice/mouse like Razer Naga, Logitech G600 and Gaming Keyboards from Steelseries, Razer and Logitech will surely be a thing for hardcore gamers. Please don’t let us down. I’ve played your game years and so as the others. You can check my account as to how dedicated I am to your game. I bought the collector’s edition, my account is binded to my Guild Wars 1. I love the game and I would love it more if you could help us out with such issue.

Im glad to see that this thread got bigger. I sent a lot of tickets about this problem when the game released and exchanged emails with the technical support. I did about 5 computer scans for the technical support, format my computer and reinstalled everything, reinstalled drivers and razer synapse, the problem is still there and they told me its my drivers. I gave up at level 25 and basicaly wasted 70$ for a game that i cant play. Today, 2 month later, i try to play to see if they have fixed this and the problem is still there. I have a razer naga and it work perfectly with all other games. (Sorry for my english lol). This sucks because it look like a great game, but its just unplayable.

Well, i contacted their support. Ran game advisor and gave them my report. They asked me to update my OS and then reboot my PC with only rz synapse running and give them another game advisor report if the issue still persisted. The problem was still there and then they told me to try and uninstall my drivers and try playing without them as well as trying another mouse. They said they were curious if it was a driver-related issue. Judging form the previous post they’ll just tell me it’s all in my drivers so I’ll just stop with my ticket here, quite discouraging indeed. I will probably get my necro up to 80 and quit the game when I do since this issue is going to be hell in PVP.
If they tell people that it’s all in the drivers, do they at least try to contact razer to sort this out?

I’ve submitted a ticket to razer support and will see what their reply is going to be.

The issue is back with a vengeance… I’ll keep trying to fix it, but only because I love GW2 so much. Any other game would have been deleted already. It is my job to solve other people’s problems, in my free time I’d rather use the stuff I paid good money for.

I’m 100% sure I don’t do anything wrong because frankly, It’s my puppy job to make sure windows runs at industrial quality. My home PC runs better than most computers in an average IT university classroom.

So I did some testing, I believe this bug is a result of a recent patch that changed something not unlike how we got the “jumping” bug. Why do I say that?

I played since launch and NEVER had this issue with the right click mouse till 3 weeks ago and its not a hardware issue every other game I have works fine.

To be construtive it seems to happen when you turn AND mouse over target someone or something. Just test it, stand still and rotate with your right click while panning past multiple NPC, on occasion you will see the “mounse pointer” appear. In one case while holding the right mouse the “chat” icon just popped up.

If I had to guess I would say ANET changed something on targeted and as you pan past characters or NPC because of lag or whatever the server looses track of you right clicking. Now if you say this happens with no NPC on the screen or character dont forget you can target stuff half way across the map even if you cant see it. So I am not convinced the client isnt still targeting something.

I did as someone suggested and clicked promote auto target. If my theory is correct and its a targeting issue, this might explain why it seems better on my pc.

But ANET please stop suggesting its a hardware issue. I get it your technical support, you didnt code the game. But like the jumping bug, SOMETHING did get changed in code to create this bug and thats where you should look. IMO its a targeting issue.

Thanks

I uninstalled this game about 2 months ago and right click movement was one of the annoying reasons why. I JUST reinstalled the game today and it is worse than before. I have my mouse drivers updated etc. and it always has and still does work great with every single game/program except Guild Wars 2. If this isn’t addressed I will probably uninstall for good or at least a year… It is unplayable without one hand movement imo…

I believe this bug is a result of a recent patch

If by recent patch, you mean day 1, then yes.. it’s always been an issue. The issue has no prefered targeting, it happens whether there are npc’s on screen, players, or just distant mountains. If I want to turn by pressing right click, I have to attempt it 3 to 4 times before it works.

yes i’ve tried multiple models of Mouse, wired & wireless. & no it doesn’t happen on any other MMO’s (the ones I play anyway.)

I started getting this issue as of yesterday’s patch. At first I thought it was connected to the jumping issues but its not.

If I had to guess, I’d say something changed in the optimization has triggered the problem.

My brother started getting the issue about a month ago and we both use Logitech g500s with I believe the same dpi, polling rate and speed settings

For me the issue is rather light and has yet to result in a serious situation. My brother however, has been having more intense trouble with it.

The major difference is I have a more stable FPS because I have an i5-750 and he struggles with his Phenom II 550 BE.

-second monitor HDMI upstairs running XBMC/NAVI-X

im sure there is a trick to keeping mouse focus locked in GW2. -this makes pvp nasty when the phreakin window minimizes. double-tap back!

Same issue for me using a Logitech M510 laser mouse. No SetPoint installed, using standard Windows 7 drivers. I am currently working around the issue by using a junky lenovo wired optical mouse…it’s slow as molasses, but at least I can turn without having to re-click/hold the RMB 4-6 times, or watch the cursor jump around. The M510 works fine with the OS as well as other games (MMO & FPS), issue only appears when GW2 is running.

In all fairness to technical support I have had it with send me this log or diagnose that. This is a problem with your game, my gaming Logitech mouse works without issue on any other game on line fps, mmo or single player.

I have messed with software settings, drivers, default windows settings blah blah blah. What is the old DOS days and I have to adjust my extended memory to get a game running? Please my work around is to pull out my laptop 2 button mouse which works fine. The cheap $5 mouse versus the $50 gaming mouse.

I’ve never seen a game with so many tweak that or tweak this to get the right fps or a mouse working. Pardon me but I am a tad frustrated.

So now I have two mice plugged in and if my 5 button default “freaks out” because of this game I grab the two button mouse and go old school.

Whatever

I recently took a break for a month or month and a half and upon return I started experiencing this issue. I’d never had problems with right clicking before but now it’s just awful. For whatever reason sometimes the game will register the click and pan my camera and character accordingly but at other times it’s as if it’s not recognizing the click.

I am too using a Razer Naga. As I said before though, from the beginning of the BWEs through most of October, I’d never experienced this issue.

Like many people have said it’s making the game really hard to play and enjoy and I would love to see this get fixed in a patch soon.

Can we get some response from ANET such as we acknowledge there is a problem? It is puzzling that no one has come back and stated they are looking into this or not. As of now it is impossible to play this game. And it baffles me with so many people having issues no one is responding to this.

I had no issue with the game at launch through the Holloween event. It started after this as a direct result of whatever changes in patches were made. Its not my hardware or my system, the game ran fine for months prior.

Is a simple “we are looking into this” to hard to ask from ANET?

Been playing for about 3 weeks, only in the last few days has this problem appeared and made the game unplayable.

Holding the right mouse button in for free look while I strafe in combat eventually results in my mouse cursor locking up in the middle of the screen or disappearing both in game and out of game. Alt F4 to desktop doesn’t bring the mouse back, fiddling with the USB ports in hopes the mouse will be picked up again rarely works. more often then not the only way i can recover is to use the keyboard to Ctrl+Alt+Del out and tab my way to the restart button.

Love this game.. but a problem that results in me restarting my top end gaming rig every 5 -10 mins?

Without a fix soon, i suspect most people in this thread will be demanding their money back.

This just started happening to me yesterday along with a few other issues.
I really hope there’s a way to solve this soon as the repair didn’t solve it & the game is becoming unplayable for me since I rely heavily on my right-click.

I tested other games and the right click works as normal, It’s only Guild Wars 2 that it suddenly drops off. The strange thing to me is up until yesterday the game worked like a dream. I’m not sure what could have happened.

TL;DR: My experiences with the issue, & small tip that “may” alleviate some stress.

To clarify in my original post. When I’m referring to “yesterday” it worked, it was the night before a patch. I don’t remember exactly which patch, but it was only after that patch that this momentous issue came to life. I had been playing since release with absolutely no issue prior & was nearly 80 before that patch, and this error, came to fruition.

I attempted to play the game again yesterday (after taking a break due to this issue) to see that this problem is still here, three months later.

I honestly have no idea how this is still going on & why there is little to no information on if they even care about our issues. I really wish I knew that critical problems like this would arise and be ignored before the game was given to me as a gift because now it rots, & I feel like I’m spitting in the face of my friend; It hurts.

My mouse is a Razer Naga as well. I’ve done all the background stuff to attempt to fix it along with a tip that helped me a bit. If you lower your camera rotation to 50% typically it makes the game a little easier to play with this issue, but the fact of the matter is, the issue is STILL there.

This solidifies my reasoning that it literally is an issue on their side.
I tried to observe how right-clicks work in WoW; when you press your right-click, the little hand cursor immediately disappears and you have control of your camera. When I would press my right-click on Guild Wars 2, first the arrow simply stays there, then the moment I move it slightly it vanishes & gives me “control” of my camera. That small difference seems to matter enough to separate the two games’ camera controls enough for one to work & the other not. It of course then drops off moments later leading to frustration, but nevertheless I hope the observation helps in solving the issue…even a little. It’s a huge disappointment that I still cannot continue to enjoy this game simply because of an overlooked error.

I just came back to the game this week after several months to try it again, and I had no mouse issues, however, on 12/18/12 they started back again. This has been happening since launch. The game is NOT fun to play when your constantly struggling to get your camera to pan somewhere. Anet, this is something wrong in your game, everyone else including me never has a problem in any game but this one it seems.

Also having the same issues reported. Often unable to move items in my inventory or bank. Left click is only registering double clicks but I am unable to drag items AT ALL in the inventory or bank. Also seems to be an issue with moving the camera. This issue has occurred occasionally since launch, but now witnessing periods of this behavior which are ruining gaming sessions.

I am having this same problem. I have tried everything, changing settings in razor synapse, installing new drivers, changing targeting options in-game, polling rates, accelerations, sensitivities—nothing works. This game is so much fun to play and I want to play it so bad, but I just can’t do it with this bug. For anyone who hasn’t experienced this problem, you would be extremely surprised at how excrutiatingly annoying it is.

I submitted a ticket approximately a week ago but I have not had any response. I really hope someone responsible fixes this at some point so I can play this game, but I just can’t do it anymore until it’s fixed.

I have a Razer Naga model: RZ01-0028 running the latest razer synapse software. Good luck everyone, I hope this is fixed at some point.

Thanks man. We all hope it gets fixed at some point but seeing as this issue is already more than 3 months old and no proper attention has been payed to addressing it……. This “fixing it at some point” might as well be in some futuristic sci-fi novel timeline or something.

Hi, would like to add that I am experiencing the same problem.
I am on a Mac, and the problem happens when I use razer Naga and it also happens when I use a cheap gig aware wired optical mouse.
I think it’s really frustrating to see that after 3 months, the only response this thread gets is basically saying, "stop posting here and making a big thread, and take it to game tickets so we can put this on the hush. Obviously this is not a problem with player’s individual mice or drivers, since so many people are experiencing it with different devices, on different computers, after updating, changing mice, etc. Another dead giveaway is that all these people including myself, are NOT having this problem with ANY other application or game. Also, not one person has come back to say that they opened a ticket and were able to fix the problem with one on one attention.

I few observations I would like to add:
The mac beta options have an option that reads:
Mac Beta: Use either mouse button to change direction

I’ve noticed that checking and/or unchecking this box, makes no difference. With it both checked and unchecked I can still use both the left click and right click to make my character turn around.

Now, when you add movement, If I use the right click button first to start turning, then keep holding right click while I add left click, I start moving. If I let go of the left click while I move and still have right click down, I stop moving and I can keep turning.
Here is the problem: If I let go of the right mouse button while moving, with the left button still held down, BAM, I stop moving and the mouse cursor appears. I can still turn around, but I can’t move. This is where it seems broken, because if I reapply right click again while still holding the left click, it stays on the mouse cursor and I can’t move(can still turn). Only if I let go of the left click, then do again left click with right click do I start moving again.

I’m not sure if this is working as intended, apparently if you use right click first, then left click, and always leave right click down, there are no problems, (you can turn and move, let go of left click to stop, keep turning, reapply left click and keep moving) but the other way around is not possible, (while you initiate turning with left mouse click and turn, then add movement with right click, once you let go of right click, you stop moving and mouse cursor appear, and it stays even if you reapply the right click)

I think this is a problem mainly because most people like to target things while they are moving with their left click, then apply right click to keep moving, but then they get stuck.

Not sure if I explained this well enough, please let me know if anyone else has the same experience.

This has also been an ongoing issue with my client. I hadn’t connected the issue until I found this and other posts on the forums.
My system is rather old and a bit of a Frankenstein, so unwilling to do testing/tweaking on my end(again).

Someone in a recently joined guild mentioned he was having the issue, went to see if anything was updated, and saw last post was rather old…

So this IS still an issue.

Something I have noted, this DID have a similar thing happen to me in SWTOR too…between my memory and the specifics, I can only say now it has to be same issue. I have since that time, completely wiped system, re-installed windows (vista x64 ) and that had no lasting effect. Intermittent problem that I wasn’t able to nail down.

I also switched mouse as others have done.

Same issues here, Logitech 6500, single monitor.
Problem is especially bad during hectic battles (though graphics are smooth and fps is kept at 60 or slightly higher). Issue seems even more noticable when I switched my “turning keys” “a” and “d” into “strafe left and right” (but that’s just the key – it’s easier to notice but always was there).

Can we get an update on the situation ? Did someone from your QA department managed to accomplish the complex task of plugging a logitech mouse, playing your freakin’ game and notice the game breaking issue ? Come on how much data you need to collect ? What does elude you on what we are reporting ? Making sure the controls works correctly is game development 101…. I’m more than annoyed about the situation and I don’t think I am the only one. It’s either a too fast double click that gets taken into account or a problem with the camera system, do you want me to come and code the patch for you ? How hard can it be really…
