here’s my (ex) issue, my mouse loses focus while holding right click almost immediately. I found a nice Autohotkey script that lets me press the middle mouse button (or any button I like) to tell the script to keep the right mouse button clicked even if I’m not actually pressing it. Then pressing the middle mouse again will release right click. It helps so freaking much.

Go search the net for Autohotkey and DL it. Copy this into notepad and save it as an .AHK then run it.

i guess it is some kind of solution, but i would think twice before using it…. arena aparently baning really fast for using any 3rd party programs

i also have same problem with releasing r click of my naga…. after last patch if i remeber correctly. writing this to let arena know, cose i doubt ill live to see solution

I absolutely hate to say this, I truly do…And my apologies to the devs who have been working on.

I have no doubt now MY issues are hardware related. Three different mice I cannot understand…and only testing this on main mouse as I can PLAY now.

The mouse on this system is razer naga epic. What changed my mind was rebinding the top two buttons marked 4 and 5 to right mouse button. I still have the actual right mouse button in, but when playing I am using 4 and 5 to move camera…both buttons because it is unnatural/painful and the two are too small to be sure only 1 of them is being hit.

If I am understanding what that little script does from ‘autohotkey’ it is only causing different mouse buttons to be registered as right mouse hold, so it is a workaround because the physical mouse button isn’t working correctly for all those other people who have complaints about ‘right click losing focus’.

Blah three different mice > are right mouse buttons switches different from left? flawed? design flawed due to angle or dirt buildup? maybe because the click isn’t ‘held’ as much as left button? angle of physical switch?

Suggestion to everyone having this issue, decide on what other button(s) on your respective mouse can be changed to be a secondary/backup right click and see if it helps you.
If it does, please post so others can benefit.

7 months now without a fix. This is absolutely ridiculous. Please disable right mouse targeting or give us the option in the ui to do so.

I went from an Intel to an HP mouse because of this issue, and it made it a lot better. It still happens sometimes, but I no longer struggle to control my character at random moments for five straight minutes like I used to.

This is soooooooooooooo annoying! I got this bug since september 2012…please fix it, it completely ruins the gaming experience in every aspect of the game!

Logitech G700 here, no problems in other games and in GW2 since almost 8 months!

Since they wont have replied to this thread for months, I won´t hold your breath, that it will be fixed. At least Arenanet probably don´t know what causes this problem. If they would know, they actually would let us know.

PS: don´t even try to contact the support team. I did and they said after a couple of advises, that i have to wait until a patch will fix this, cause they also couldn´t find a solution or a temporary fix.

The solution; Remove the mouse/driver software from your bottom icon tray, if it’s in the background, it causes focus issues.

This isn`t the best solution for me. I want to use every single mousebutton and if I remove my driver software, I couldn´t use all of them.

Yeah, this problem is so frustrating, that I gave up on the game a few months ago. Came back on hoping it would be fixed but nope. I have the G700. Extremely annoying in PvP.

This is really weird. I decided to pick up on GW2 after a few months of inactivity, and changed nothing to my computer setup, and I now have this terribly annoying problem, while I never had it since the start. Moving the slider up to 50% doesn’t solve the problem at all, merely makes everything a bit more bearable, since you’re moving the camera faster so you get to the wanted orientation before you loose focus.
Plain wired Logitech mouse too, but again didn’t change a single element in my setup, and never had this problem before today.

tried , windows and full screen , new logitech software , wired and wireless , moved slider, all options on and off in the game.
strangest thing is it seems to work better when i have a second mouse on my pc…

Updated every single driver of my components thanks to SlimDrivers, tried with and without my wacom tablet plugged, full screen or windowed, single or double monitor, nothing would fix it. Unbearable in WvsW…

kitten game controls up few minutes. this makes the game unplayable.

I can’t level with this problem. At first I thought it was my old mouse, but I did a quick “GW2 right click” google search and found this thread.

I don’t understand how something this immersion/gamebreaking can be tolerated by players. The devs either don’t seem to care about it or the players don’t. It’s one or the other, but I lose focus constantly while trying to move my character around. What’s worse is when I actually wind up right clicking a window on one of my two adjacent screens.. then I lose focus completely.

Fix this, please.

I reported this in BETA, it got ignored. I also reported in BETA that if using dual monitors the mouse tends to run off the screen onto the other one minimizing the game. That, too, got ignored.

Another annoying aspect about the mouse is you can not hold down Left/Right mouse buttons and zoom in and out. Every game I have played allows this but GW2. I reported that, too, in BETA. Guess what? It was ignored, too.

This issue has been happening to me far too often. It’s way too inconvenient for me at the moment, and it makes this game much harder for me to play than normal. This seriously needs a fix right away.

So, I am wondering if they fixed this problem so i can play again. I quit like 1 month after release and came back a couple time like every 2 month to see if they fixed it so i can play this game normally. Seems thakittens too hard to fix a small mouse problem. Its sad to say it but kitten you and your piece of kitten game, worst 60 box spent of my life. Im giving up waiting for incompetent who have been sleeping for 9 months.

It´s not only your mouse. Nearly every guildmate has the same problems. Some occur more often, some don´t. But the problem still exists!

So, as advised in this topic a few pages earlier, I did send a full report to the Assistance, with all the data I could (lengthy description of the problem, three Game Advisor reports everytime they’d ask me, I even made a livestream video to show exactly the problem), and after a couple replies, they told me they would be investigating it and would get back to me as soon as they had something new.
I think everyone encountering the problem here should send a lenghty but polite request to the Assistance with all the data from Game Advisor, so they can cross-check what’s wrong and finally find a fix. Complaining on this topic does give the problem attention, but I guess doesn’t help them fixing it, so all we can do is send them formal reports with all the data.

I’ve had a blast with this game for the first four months, and I’m sad I can’t go back after my idling (and for such a stupid, annoying little problem), but I don’t hold any grudges and I just want to help to fix it.

That´s what I did months ago. The support`s conclusion was, that they couldn´t help me an I had to wait for ANet´s patches. Well I´ve waited and no patch, fix or even response about this issue appeared.

Nevertheless I will open another support ticket. Just for the fun and because I updated my system.

My advice obviously only applied to those who didn’t already send a report of course. It’s just a common thing that some players will just send a forum reply without going through the whole procedure of reporting to the support, I just wanted to encourage them to do so.

Just FYI, I am having the same issue, however it isn’t on Arena’s side. I had been playing SWTOR for a while, and recently began having the same issue with it as well. I am running a Logitech M510 wireless mouse.

It is intermittent, comes and goes … sometimes I’ll go almost all day w/o an issue and then (I notice it more in the afternoon / evening) it starts messing up.

I’ve also come across other forums outside of GW2 where posters have had the same issue with other games as well.

For what it’s worth, or if it helps eliminate the problem:

I had this same issue in the past up until the patch around the middle of April (forget when exactly.) However, it started again with the patch that added all the initial southsun content.

i’ve had this issue for a while and at first it only caused a slight inconvenience but as of now the game is unplayable in wvw, right click rarely ever registers when trying to rotate the camera, i’ve downloaded some mouse software to change my right click to left click to see if it was my mouse button but it turns out it also happens with left click

edit: i’m using a logitech ls1 mouse (cheap wired one)

I had this bug months ago for a small time then it vanished until today. Did Anet change something in the patch? I was fine yesterday…

I started getting this bug a few days ago, and it rapidly got worse. I tried quite a few of the things mentioned, to no avail. The ones that seemed the most promising, at first, were ones that minimized use of the mouse. I tried to see if other mouse movements would trigger the mouse freeze and found they could, but the RMB one was the one I used almost constantly so it was just where I usually saw it.

I did notice, at least in my case, that I was getting the same beep as a USB error or removing a device. My mouse is wired USB Logitech (but even a wireless to a USB hub could get my problem). So I looked that up and found this:

The “Method 1” solution in that did nothing to fix the problem. The Method 2 however, after working out the order to get the usb hub, port and usb device drivers all to do a fresh install on boot after a delete, that seems to have done it. I played an hour in fullscreen and another one in windowed fullscreen (the dual monitor mouse moving off it really got the error going before) and not a single beep or mouse hang.

So in my case it looks like a usb system driver corrupted. Reinstalling the mouse drivers had done nothing before, and making sure the usb hardware drivers were upgraded did nothing, only the delete and force windows to fresh install the usb system worked.

Bump Same issue, and it is increasing more annoying by day…

I tried Hechicera.9816 method 2 , and issue still there
Then i did a dual boot with windows xp (full updated) and installed just GW2 , and i got the same issue as in win 7.
I have no more ideas to solve this.

Well, as I bought Kerbal Space Program recently and noticed I had the very same problem, I went to buy a new mouse, and guess what, problem solved.
New mouse is almost the same as the old one, plain Logitech wired mouse… doesn’t come with any drivers or anything. I have no idea what caused the problem, but it’s fixed now.

Agree with the above poster. New mouse solved the problem. I just bought the cheapest mouse in the market and the problem is gone
