Lag spikes might be attributed by the newish “Texture Streaming” function in GW2.

Instead of loading every map/object/texture when you come in contact with it(usually loading into a zone), it can download data missing from your Gw2.dat while you’re “idle”. There’s another setting,“Max”,that will try to use as much bandwidth as possible to download missing files.

As for “Bugs”..you’d have to be way more specific.

Since last week’s Friday I have high ping spikes at random moments. Sometimes even a dc too. Just 5 minutes ago, I got a dc from standing still in LA.

The error code was 7:11:3:191:101.

My ISP is Ziggo (Netherlands). I live in the province Zuid-Holland.

Also experiencing high pings(spiking up to 3000ms in open world), disconnects. First time it’s happened for me. Based on traceroute issues seem to be around

where I’m seeing over 60% loss.

I’m in western Massachusetts.

I am experiencing disconnects every time I log on with a ping of over 3000. Everything was working just fine yesterday and only GW2 is affected.

Is anyone else experiencing these issues?

at least this seems like a common issue, hopefully we get a fix sometime soon

For what it’s worth to the tech team. I am in CT too. Hartford, to be exact.

When I ping google.com I get an average ping of 22 ms.

When I ping my own network I get an average ping of 0ms

When I ping the IP of my Lion’s Arch map I get an average ping of 67ms with a 50% packet loss.

Yep, i’m just east of you, massive ping. Might be an ISP thing, since I can’t even speedtest to seattle, washington. Tried going through -clientport 80, to no avail.

I find it interesting to that guild wars 1 also connects, then decides to disconnect as aswell.

The last time something like this happened, it probably wasn’t level 3’s fault, but the ISP’s.

although it’s not out of the question.

Also having issues. Live about an hour away from Hartford, CT, but my traffic probably has to go through that hub anyway. Game is nearly unplayable, getting disconnects about every 5 minutes or so with 7:11:3:191:101

I logged on to the game last night. I live in Thailand(UTC+7) and I’m on NA. To me seem like the problem is fixed. But my friends who also live in Thailand still having problem logging in and dc also the ping’s very high. They usually get around 200-400 but now its over 2k. I haven’t try PvP yet. I’m not sure why this happen but I hope it can be fixed soon. We really enjoy this game and we’re really excited about the leagues system so some of my friends want to try pvp too. We still really want to play the game. Please fix it for us. We usually get really high pings so please don’t make it worse.

I’ve been having problems with ping for a while. I used to be able to play the instruments but it’s to difficult with avg. 222 ping.

Just tried to complete “Claw of Jormag” for my daily. All I could read in map chat was about lag, ping hitting 2k-4k. some were having like 80- 200ms but were also lagging?? Some had 0ms, too. These were players from different parts of the world and some in NA,.

I don’t know how and when this issue is gonna be fixed. The other mmo’s I play are fine, no lag etc.

Ah well, I guess it’s time for me to “hang them gw2 gloves up”. Been a loyal customer since launch of gw1. Y’all take care and have fun! salute

I found out something strange with my lagging.

I have many accounts. When I was playing that account where I have bought HoT, it had huge lags and lagspikes. It didn’t log in every time and time to time it log in after long waiting period. Some times that character what had 100 % map completion and I tried to log in with it, shows to me 0 % map completion.

Then I change my account to that one where I have not bought HoT and surprisingly it didn’t have any lags or problems. Everything loaded up fast, and skill were working fine and not even single lags anywhere. It worked so smooth and fine.

So I just used same computer, same connection and account with HoT had huge lags and accounts without HoT worked fine.

I am also experiencing these severe lag spikes, it started in early August for me. Today everything got worse, can’t play the game without ping jumping up to 4000. I started disconnecting to the CSS last night, it has happened about 4 or 5 times so far. On top of this, today I started getting locked in place without being able to move at all while not being able to open any menus (this has happened in WvW and Lions Arch). Other games I play run without issues. I am in California and my ISP is Comcast.

Been having severe lag spikes as well, reaching up to 4k ping where my avg should be around 200 (Australia). Tried the /clientport 80 fix and still the same issue and this massive ping problem appears to be only from GW2, i have not had the same issue with any other games and when there has been a problem it’s been easily identifiable (another person on the net). These problems even happen when i am home alone and the only person using the internet.

I have been suffering ping issue from last year. It happnes in my prime time to mid night..sometimes only prime time. Huge lags (700-1600). My usual ping is 200-300..still playable if it keeps that way.
I bought this game and it makes me unplayable :/ No fix or any solve for getting better for this?
I live in GMT+9 area and on EU server. It is surely not my ISP problem because I can play other games even on EU servers without a problem.

Almost 2 weeks now. Its just unplayable…

Tried again playing at just after midnight, nobody is awake, nobody is using any internet, it’s all mine.
Webpages load fine, other games have no issue.

5k ping constantly in GW2. Literally no idea what is going on. Presumably to a point where my ping is affecting others, had an spvp match where 3/5 of my team disconnected, myself not included.

This is getting unplayable.

High ping is getting out of hand

I usually get 200 ping from the Philippines and I’m getting 400-1.7k on average now. Everything else I have runs fine, and as an aside I’m both a phone technical support tech but also a desktop tech so I’m not exactly clueless on resolving internet issues on my end.

Everyone else I talk to tells me they have crap ping too, to the point no one complains anymore… it’s just a given now.

Contacted support and after a few emails was told to contact my ISP. I’ve opened a ticket with them but haven’t heard back yet. Anyway here’s my trace route. ISP is Time Warner on the east coast.

The Ping insanely high again last 2-3 weeks

Also getting insane ping issues now, not having any ping issues in other online multiplayer games, only GW2. Any advice?

In the last 2 weeks I had serious ping issues, too. Normally, I don’t have bigger ping problems in Guild Wars 2 and a good ping to European servers in other games. Nonetheless, it peaks around 700-1000ms occasionally in Guild Wars 2 in the last days
All other games run fine.

Alright so for a month now or so I have been getting these ping issues quite regularly. It didn’t bother me that much since I mostly just did daily and logged out but now I wanted to play this game a bit more however the ping issue still remains.

So it’s kinda like I go to one zone let’s say Sparkfly and my ping spikes from 50 to 500 average 100+. I have a clear delay on my skills and it’s generally not a very nice experience. But then I change zone to let’s say Maelstrom and suddenly it’s ll silky smooth again ping 40 average 40. Then I change zone again and there’s a high chance I might lag again. It’s all very random. Of course my connection is flawless. I get no issues in any other games or while browsing sites. I’m 101% sure my connection is not at fault.

I also did few trecerts and pings WHILE being connected to the laggy IP in the game. And this is very weird but they all seemed fine there was no huge ms spikes between any hops. However in-game there was a clear delay on basically any interaction. I tried clientport 80/443 but since it’s not my ISP this doesn’t do anything.

And yeah no connectivity issues whatsoever in any other game.

so this ping issue come back again for me , it was already repaired just before the last beta test occur but during the middle of the beta test the ping spike come back again until now this is so annoying, i am playing from SEA my ping usually only 250 – 270 which is very playable but when the spike occur it can get around 800 – 1200 which cause the skill delay, please fix this again, all of my other online game are working fine

I’ve also been experiencing horrendous ping issues over the past few days. Maps either refuse to load, load the audio first and then everything else minutes later, and once in-game the ping renders the game unplayable. Sometimes it seems to magically resolve itself and everything is fine, it happens at different times of the day, it happens with different characters and different maps. Below is an example, from just a few minutes ago:

This is only happening with Guild Wars 2, I’ve had no issues with other games or with my connection in general. I’m hoping it’s just a side-effect of all the HoT prep and it’ll be quickly resolved, but the fact it’s happening now, so close to the release of the expansion, is certainly worrying.

So since Tuesday this week i have been getting random patchs about an hour long where my ping will randomly jump up to 3000 or drop to 0 and then i will get kicked out.
If i try to log back in i normally get stuck in teh loading screen for about 10 minuits then the game will come up with a server connection issue.
I have talked to my isp and they say everything seems to be fine on tehre end.
Any ideas?

Same here. Been having connectivity issues the past few days, but today has been the worst of the lot. First instance was losing connection during CM P1 then the next instance was when I was doing PvP and not only did I lose connection but two others did as well on my team. Really sucks to play right now :/ hopefully it gets fixed/patched quickly and before x-pac launch.

This is the 3rd or maybe 4th period over the last 3 months where my ping is spiking. Anything up to 5k at times. Normal ping around 80. Dunno why it affects some and not others. Ofc the game is unplayable. Other times lasted 1-3 weeks. Connecting from the UK

I am also having these problems of constant disconnects……… You guys(anet) seriously not going to do anything about until HoT comes out?

The problems seem to be worst at about 7.00 pm to 12.00 pm GMT time im going to guess its traffic based problems.

I can’t play the game at all, no skills work but yet I can chat so my chat server is fine but the game server isn’t. I’m based in the UK, on NA servers.
