I don’t have this issue with my Microsoft mouse and the Microsoft USB IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 (Mouse and Keyboard Center) driver. I would suggest, “Change your mice.”

Having this problem too with my G700, I googled for days now just to find out that hundreds of others are having the same issue – without a solution to it??
I’d been playing GW2 for months with my mouse without any probs – since last week it’s unplayable for me.
I can’t even turn my camera for one rotation, if I try to I’ll land on my desktop, or with a context menu opened on one of my party members … Also disabled this new option with the right click – no change…
Hope that there’s a fix soon, but I don’t really think so

Honestly, I didn’t even know this was an actual bug that can, and should be, fixed.

Just to add one more thing, I can’t actually play the game due to this problem so I’ve had to stop.
It’s sad because I really enjoy playing Guild Wars 2 but this bug is just really bad and I can’t fix it.

Yeah, this bug started on me since the last update. At first it was very minor, but I noticed it in a fight versus Frizz in the new dungeon (my mouse only moved up and down and didn’t register right click, forcing me to die) and has progressed to a point where it makes camera steering near impossible.

I have used right click to move camera while still, and steer while on the move for the past 8 months. Since the nerf patch, it seems I’ll be holding right click and moving about, then when I let go of right click wherever my mouse was, it highlights the item as if I had simply performed a right click on it. Even after holding right click down for a bit.
This is particularly annoying on my ranger because my pet runs alongside me, and after jogging down a path let go of right click and my pet is now highlighted.
Ugh, please fix this!

I can confirm that behaviour. As a workaorund you can disable the right-click-interaction in the game options.

This is also a problem for me. While using the right mouse button to move the camera around, it will randomly stop moving the camera
This is very troubling in a lot of situations, since I’m used to using the A and D keys for strafing while right-clicking to move the camera, and have died several times due to it suddenly switching out of camera rotation mode
I believe this happens when your (invisible) cursor is on top of a selectable game object: a player, an enemy, an object… I’ve tested it a number of times and I think that is the most likely cause

All of these are related to the same issue. Most affected users encounter it with their Razer Naga and Logitech mice, though it has also been an issue for Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and generic brand mice. There doesn’t seem to be a known cause and it is strictly limited to malfunctioning during GW2.

When playing wvw and end up in a big fight the mouse messes up,only started doing it after the latest patch.
when i goto my inv and click on an item to salvage,i get message was suppressed.
Same if i try and use a portal to the keep or any skills in my skill bar ect ect.
i cannot use any skills but all i get instead is message was suppressed.
So it forces me to close gw 2 and restart the computer.
This is so annoying as it’s a long wait to get into wvw on this server.
i’m pretty sure it’s not a prob my end as this is the only game that does it,and it only does it after a big fight in wvw.
Also mouse i use is logitech mmo G600.

After the latest patch I have been having this problem I am fighting some one and when turning the game thinking I have removed my finger from my right mouse button so the view angle changes but my character is facing the wrong way.
My mouse (Logitech G600) is fine.
Please fix it. I am a PVPer and this hinders gameplay.

This latest patch really changed things up for me too. This hasn’t happened for several weeks, but once this patch hit camera control with the right mouse button is close to impossible.
My symptoms are like everyone else.
1) Right click fails 50% of the time
2) Right click and hold, prematurely releases when you don’t want it to (while panning camera)
My observations is that this occurs in pve/pvp mostly and is significantly worse in the new jumping puzzle or when there are a lot of other players around.
I’ve had problems with a MS Intellimouse Explorer in the past, but I replaced it with a Logitech G500 and the problem was significantly less with exception of yesterday.

I have just replaced my mouse, I have 3 mice that I have tested this on. A logitech MX300, a Hewlett Packard mouse and a Microsoft Optical 500.. The same problem with each of them which is pretty much what you’ve said Chimerael, whilst holding down the right click button to pan the camera it releases itself. I have fiddled around with the settings and the mouse sensitivity settings which has made it slightly easier to pan the camera around but as you’ve also said the problem got worse with the new patch. It really needs an urgent look at because the game is basically unplayable.

To revisit this, I’m not convinced this is actually ANet’s fault. Some of the descriptions (specifically those that describe the error as “when you release the button, the game interprets it as another click”) are happening to me outside of the game. For example, while browsing, clicking the middle mouse wheel would normally let you quick-scroll by moving the mouse up or down. I can do this, but only if I hold the middle mouse button – if I let it go, the quick-scroll feature cancels as if I had pressed a button again. And a more obvious example is if I hold the middle mouse button to scroll and the mouse pointer is over a link when I let it go, it opens the link in a new tab as if I had middle-mouse-clicked it.
Apart from that I don’t notice anything, it certainly doesn’t happen with left click, harder to tell with right click… but unless someone at ANet was bored and decided to make a virus, I remain convinced that this behavior is consistent with the “bug” reported and the fact that it happens outside of the game for me suggests it is not directly related to the game.
I’ll be reinstalling Windows soon anyway (harddrive is starting to corrupt, but probably not the case for EVERYONE in this thread), so I’ll let you know if it’s still present after a fresh install.

@Jigain to be fair a lot of people are reporting this issue and everyone is having a similar experience. Not all of our operating systems can be corrupted at the same time without a source for that? We all play Guild Wars 2 so if all our systems were messed up then obviously the common theme here is that the source of that is from something Guild Wars 2 has done.
I have had no other problems with my mice playing any other games or browsing the internet. It’s isolated to Guild Wars 2. But I look forwards to seeing your results after a fresh install.

Somehow I get the impression you didn’t read all of my post, especially the part that says
not the case for EVERYONE in this thread
But I’ll spell it out, just in case. It’s my professional opinion that my harddrive corruption is an isolated incident, and more likely than not no other person in this thread is currently running on a corrupting harddrive. Further it seems unlikely that the corruption in itself is caused by GW2, or in turn that the corruption has caused the mouse issues. The fact is that I need to reinstall Windows regardless, and if I keep testing GW2 while reinstalling all my applications, drivers, and updates, we’ll know if and when the problem appears again, and from that perhaps we can deduce a hypothesis as to how it can be permanently fixed for others.
Lastly, there are many things that could be similar or identical between our setups beyond GW2, so you can’t assume GW2 is the only thing we all have in common. We could have similar motherboards, mouse brands, mouse software, mouse drivers, BIOS version, graphics card drivers, Windows updates, even the OS itself, and that’s just a tip of the iceberg of what could be a connection. So I’ll apply Occam’s Razor and say that as the issue appears outside of the game, either the most likely cause is something other than GW2, or my issue is separate from your issue – though Occam’s Razor on that says it’s highly unlikely that we’d have identical symptoms with differing causes around the same time, so once again, most likely cause is something other than GW2.

Right, reinstalled Windows on a new disk. Installed bare minimum software – mouse drivers, LAN drivers, graphics drivers, Firefox, Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework. Not even firewalls and antispyware yet. Not touched any Windows updates. Noticed that the mouse would not register any clicks as long as it was switched to on-board memory in the Logitech Gaming Software (I use a G600). May be related. Not showing any of the previously observed behavior in browsers after setting it to Automatic Game Detection rather than the on-board memory option.
Downloading GW2 now. Will edit this post as I go along.
Edit: Still selecting targets after moving camera with right-click in-game. Browsing is still fine. Conclusion: my theory that my out-of-game mouse issues were related to the in-game mouse issues was incorrect. Despite very similar symptoms, there is no correlation between the two.

Didn’t see any posts for this, so pardon if it’s a repost. For the past week, myself and at least one guild mate of mine have been having issues with holding down the right mouse button to move the camera. It keeps on losing it’s “held-down” state, but then suddenly decides that it’s still held down and considers it a right click. So for example, I could be running around with the button held down, moving the camera, then suddenly it registers as not being held down (while the mouse button is in fact still held down), so then my mouse cursor starts to move across the screen instead of the camera moving. Then before I can even notice this, it’ll re-register as being held down, and act as a click-to-hold, which means if the cursor moves over the party list while I’m trying to move the camera, it’ll open up the party menu, and on more then one ocassion has caused me to accidently kick a party member. This issue is making it very frustrating to play, and almost impossible to play WvW because I can’t move the camera fast enough (because half the time it says the mouse isn’t clicked when it is).
Edit: Not sure if related, but we are both using Logitech mice. I tried my touchpad and that didn’t have an issue with right click, but seeing as I didn’t have an issue with my mouse before, I’m wondering if maybe a recent patch introduced imperfect hardware compatibility with certain mice?

Main thread for this issue:
Mouse losing focus -right click to turn not working [Merged]
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Mouse-losing-focus-right-click-to-turn-not-working-Merged
Hi. All of these are related to the same issue.
Issue: Mouse Button Loses Focus and Does Not Reacquire It
Most of the time that this issue is present (it is inconsistent), the mouse actually loses focus and never reacquires it, which prevents character and camera orientation with the right mouse button and leaves the game in a completely unplayable state. Some days it is very bad and prevents you from even being able to play, other times it is only a couple times a minutes, but leads to frustration and not playing the game the rest of that day.
Issue: Nearby Friendly Target Being Selected Unintentionally Due To Mouse Button Losing Focus and Reacquiring It Quickly
The recently added option to ‘Disable Right-click Targeting’ has helped with the linked issue of randomly selecting a nearby friendly target while moving your camera with the right mouse button.
This happens because the mouse tracking has an issue to where the game reads you as releasing the mouse button (despite your having never released it) and then re-‘clicks’ the button down quickly. Due to this issue, if your cursor was over/near another friendly, then they become your new target as if you had intentionally clicked on them to select them.
Issue: Total Target Loss Due To Mouse Button Losing Focus and Reacquiring It Quickly Over Empty Area of the Screen
However, disabling right-click targeting and interaction has simply made the issue of a new target stop happening, the issue of losing your target due to the glitch in mouse focus persists. Now we just have target loss due to the quick un-click and re-click of the right mouse button over an empty area of the screen which deselects the current target; instead of both target loss and random friendly selection.

So once again, patch day. This problem returns. Which is unfortunate seeing as the stuff I like to do in GW2 requires pretty accurate camera control via the right mouse button.
Last time I posted about this problem happening was last patch day. The problem slowly cleared up over the last 2 weeks and haven’t had any trouble at all.
Thinking back on the problem and when it has occurred. This has always been true.
Whatever the problem is, it is somehow related to the large number of players playing at the time.
Anyone else noticing the same thing?

Me and my wife plays in 2 PC. I have no problem, but she is getting crazy with this problem.
So many hardware, so many mouses (mouses that works fine in another applications/games), and solution is “try to get another mouse”?..please, dont joke.

Same problem here ever since I started up. One of the most annoying GW2 issues ever, especially if you are into sPvP. I don’t use auto-targetting and this bug is horrible. Some fights are just pure hell because you lose skills you’ve casted into no target at all due to this bug.
I can’t believe this issue can’t be addressed not to mention fixed…

Would just like to add my piece in as well.. I’ve been having the issue for about 2 months now. Makes it extremely frustrating to play PVE, not to mention almost impossible to efficiently play WvW/PvP. I’m enjoying all the new content that ANET is releasing, but common.. Take a minute to fix pre-existing issues. 10 months pre-existing. I’m sure this will cause players to leave for something else, due to the frustration alone. :/

Same problem on my Logitech G300 =(
A great solution would be to add that a toggle to switch the
Left Button (Hold) Move Camera
with the
Right Button (Hold while moving) Change direction
From here -> http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/0/00/GW2_QRC_NA_Digital.jpg
It appears that when I run with swapped left and right click I dont have any problems, I just can’t get used to clicking with the right click =/

I posted this in another thread…
Posting here real quick to add another ‘area’ of target loss, and I think this is my issue after disabling the right clicking (I actually think I have not only the right click issue, as some days are worse than others, but my mouse is actually acting up as well so double the fun).
If you have a target, and LEFT CLICK somewhere on the screen off of them, you lose the target.
I think what’s happening is when I’m casting something on the ground (I have the default actions for that), and I don’t think it goes off for some reason, I get click happy and start trying to spam the action (which then causes me to click on another target).
[EDIT]
..and here’s some more thoughts. I notice sometimes that I use the left button sometimes to walk forward while I have the right button held down to move the camera. I suspect the target loss in that situation is the right click failing, and the system going “oh, you’re left clicking on that empty spot? okay…”

Having the same problem, it’s game breaking really, happens every 1-5 seconds. GW2 does something to my mouse or drivers because the problem will persist after I exit GW2 until I unplug it and plug it back in.

I have the same problem too. I have it on a razer naga. I have another standard usb mouse and there is the problem as well. I can drag with my naga on the desktop with right click this square around like a psycho and nothing happens, just in gw2 my camera stops to rotate. In pve it is acceptable, but in pvp its gamebreaking. I have switched usb ports and as last hope have reinstalled my mouse driver. I hope this works. If not, it’s a ingame problem and not hardware related.
