TW is probably one of the top premier WvW guilds on all of NA. I won’t lie seeing them on JQ kind of rallied the troops, BG BL which sat all blue and fully t3 since reset and quite empty quickly filled up and started turning red slowly with them in there. It was a lot of fun especially for the old JQ’ers who were there originally.
If nothing else, TW is helping to rally JQ a bit which is good for the game in general I think. Lot of the old WvWers that haven’t been active are coming out of the woodwork again just to play with them. Whether they stay a week, 2 weeks or forever, we’re happy to have them.
That being said, you should give them a break, it’s only a game.
To all the TC and SoS still out there in the trenches, I just want to say don’t give up. I mostly wvw during SEA time on SoR so I know the feeling of staring down a massive sea of red back when JQ was rolling all over us with FOO. We didn’t give up on that timeslot but simply came out to fight week after week. Sometimes we advance sometimes we’re just happy to hold what we can. No matter what, we represented.
Ignore those who simply give up after one battle and quit, thinking the odds are not worth the effort. I have greater respect for the ones who keep coming back not because they are sadists but for what I would like to believe to be their fighting spirit. You may argue that this is a game and nobody likes being wiped again and again but this is wvw, you’ve got to want to fight. You lose you go back, evaluate and then come back again. Not lose and then say kitten this and pve for the rest of the week.
Take this chance to observe your comrades and commanders, note those who stay and fight and those who log off or zone out after a wipe. When this is all over and the next opponent rolls around, ask the fellow wvwer next to you “Where were you when we faced the hordes of SoR?” If he says “Right beside you bro”, then congrats you’ve found a kindred warrior.
I don’t think anyone on TC who matters minds TW transferring off for the matchup. The week is early though, and TC still has plenty more to give. We won’t win the final score, but we will be winning plenty more battles. Tonight should be fun.

I have to give props to SoS – I checked the score at 3:41AM server time (ya, I know!) and they were ticking at 250+ – and there was a lot of red on SoR’s BL. Good job! Sadly, TC was not ticking so high, but at that point we still held our garrison, so I’m pretty sure I knew where our troops were. I’m happy to know we didn’t give up garrison without some mass casualties and some epic fights.

I guarantee you, if TC saw SoS focusing SoR…we’d focus SoR too. Instead we’re trying to push OW somewhat often just to keep the pressure up to keep SoS in their third…

EBG is not a WXP grind. The majority of our PPT from weeks like this comes out of there, and the same goes for you guys. We take EBG pretty seriously anyway, and have a few dedicated EBG commanders.
The problem is that when we need all hands during an undermanned timeslot, and SoR pushes QL…losing two people in durios when you only have 20 on the map is a big impact. Normally it’s not a big deal because there aren’t 80 man enemy zergs running around the map, but this week is a very different story, as I’m sure you know. Also, two ACs will not stop a bunch of catas taking down the durios wall.
It’s annoying, but sadly that will be much more prevalent in EB, where a lot of commanders watch the flow to determine where to attack next, rather than working towards an overall strategy. I’d hazard that most would have the sense if they saw TC pushing SMC or the Klovan/Jerr area, to support that by hitting WC/Aldon, but given that this is a match where both of us are being pushed pretty hard, the more common situation is likely to be seeing you getting hit at QL/Langor, giving rise to the obvious temptation of Durios/Bravost.
While I’d agree if we saw SoS and SoR engaged in an open field battle we’d likely try to leave (and have left) the SoS folks alone, I just can’t see any type of majority passing up the opportunity for a good fight, regardless of what server is represented. Winning the PPT game is nice when it happens, but the good fights are what it’s all about, for me anyway. SoS brings plenty of those good fights… so of course, we’re going to seek ’em out. ;-)

We spent about 4 solid hours last night pushing the klovan / Gol / jerr area, and had to wipe SoS in the Durios area a pile of times. We also made a few advances toward SMC, but it was too tightly patrolled.
I was in EB last night NA prime and I can guarantee we were focusing on SoR and TC at the same time by separating our forces with two commanders to defend/attack 2 fronts when necessary. Besides, this is a learning experience for our new emerging commanders. Our NA base pop may be lower than the other two servers but we will try our best.

Apparently some of the people on both sides don’t understand that would be a good strategy. SoS has had the same frustration with TC this week. I’ve mostly been playing on SoS BL and to us it seems TC leaves no opportunity untaken to help SoR out there.
However, there have been some good battles fought when we have had enough people on. I’ve learned a lot from observing tactics. All in all its better than being where we were before the match-ups changed. It was no fun for CD or SBI playing against us then and I’m sure they are happy that we broke up with them. :P Just as happy as we will be to find a better match for us. Its just more fun for all involved when the matches are more even. I envy the servers that are almost in a three way tie. That’s the best type of match-up.

Man, it’s so weird seeing TC/SoS 30 man zergs. It feels dirty when you have 50 guys behind you. So used to tier 1 zerg sizes ._.
To be honest, we are missing a lot of people. Not sure if that’s RL or unwillingness to face SoR, but the people you are seeing now are mostly the ones who you will be seeing regardless of the score. We’ll keep fighting & trying & learning even if things aren’t going well for us. Normally though, I think we could be way more competitive. But yeah, we are missing a lot of people.

I run phantasm mesmer, so I get some iffy people too. Still, P/D Thief is one of the only builds I have trouble with from thief, so it should be lots of fun! I will contact you when I can and if you are on, you can kick my butt.
I’ve seen plenty of TW corpses this weekend so I have no idea what y’all are talking about. TW didn’t seem any different from the other zergs running around. It’s funny watching SoS and TC sticking out the match with outmanned on several maps during many times of the day but TW doesn’t think the match is worth their time (I don’t think any of the servers are happy with this match, I certainly don’t think SoR is in the worst position).
Tier one egos are so huge they won’t let guilds drop down a tier for even one or two weeks. Leaving the top tiers was the best thing to ever happen to SoS. Being back up here (for the dumbest reasons, Devon) sucks, but I don’t know what’s worse, the laggy zerg meta that removes so much depth and individual contribution from WvW or the egos of the players.
Since arenanet didn’t communicate that tiers don’t exist anymore. People will feel like this poster. Look for the official match up thread with the servers in tiers. Guess what they will never post that again. What we do have is the official leaderboard. Go to www.guildwars2.com click community tab and look at the wvw leaderboard.

I don’t even know how to respond to this. Other than the early open field fights where we were at a 2:3 ratio against your numbers (us being the 2…while your dead respawned and streamed in from citadel), you guys have outnumbered us 2:1 or 3:1 in every engagement.

I think the biggest unified force we had when we were fighting at any point today on SoRBL was about 40 players. Most of the time we were running in the 20s, maybe hitting 30. I even had to go to Lion’s Arch and broadcast for people to come into SoRBL to help us since our numbers were so low….
Official or otherwise, I strongly suggest SOS and TC pull a 2v1 on SOR for the rest of the week. For NA, EU, SEA, OCN timezones. Win or lose, lets do it for the challenge.
I am totally serious about this. Get your server leaders together, settle your differences and do a good coordinated 2v1.

Thanks to the SoR ranger in TC borderlands just now for the great fight. With the way things are at the moment it’s tough to get some combat in where you don’t insta-die to large numbers.
Most of the isolated SoR players I’ve come across only really want to get to the zerg, even if it means camping out in North Camp with seige and the sound of crickets. Every server has it’s zerglings I guess who aren’t too confident in small combat – I’m sure we do too. Or maybe they’re geared and traited for zerg combat, I dunno but it’s not really needed for this matchup.
Anyway, good to see some players actually keen to fight.
Is there a reason why we haven’t set up some GvG’s yet?

ANet, I know switching it up is ‘hip and cool’ and whatever, but when you forcefully change matchups to boring meaningless ones between a stacked server and a non-stacked server(s), youre doing everybody who enjoys WvW on those servers a disservice.

I don’t see this system lasting too much longer though, I can see doing small shuffles but sending SoS to fight SoR was simply too far. They should really look at this match up sytem again and I feel they will.
Yaknow…of all the things I miss about a straight, normal T2, it’s that with SoR on the map it’s nearly impossible to solo/duo/trio roam anymore. One of my favorite things to do these days is to get out there on my D/D ele with a couple friends and stir up trouble, scout, havok, etc.
Every time I’ve tried in this matchup…we end up with a fun little brawl….and 15 seconds later about 10 more SoR jump into the fight and spoil the fun. Either that or we get run over by a 20 person zerg or something. Small group roaming with anything less than 10 is just not all that possible.
SoR has amazing attendance, for sure, but I want my roaming back. xD
