Guild Wars 2

Season one just showed how unbalanced WvW populations and coverage was, even within each league. This was known before the seasons of course, but the season made it unbearably obvious.

Dh has been in a great spot as far as the season is concerned. I can’t speak for everyone on the server, of course, but I’ve enjoyed it a lot. It’s very story-like, we got beat by number 1 BUT we have a chance to beat SF for 2nd in the final battle of the league. For me, this is really intense and I’m super excited. I’ve really loved seasons thus far and hope we can see the return of a 4 league season (as one guy mentioned, diamond, gold, silver, bronze). I think the biggest issue is that servers seem to go in tiers for bronze:

DH/SF/HoD = tier 1
FC/GOM = tier 2
KNG/AR/DR/ET = tier 3

If someone in tier 1 gets matched with someone in tier 2, it gets bad. If someone in tier 1 gets matched with tier 3 servers, it gets REALLY bad (see HoD and Dh this week). Thus, since the tier 3 servers have had every week include at least 1 server from a higher tier, it hasn’t been too fun for them I’d wager. The reverse is also true, if you’re in a higher tier server it’s not really fun to play against all the weaker servers all the time.

Just wanted to share the fun battles we have had in bronze. We were originally from FA and joined the gank scene. Before the season started we transferred down to bronze league because of how zergy upper leagues were getting. We have never been happier on our home of Darkhaven.

We usually run with a condi necro, condi thief, and hybrid S/D ele. This group make up synergizes well in small gank/group combat.

I am having a blast. I think 4 leagues (Diamond, Gold, Silver, Bronze) and a shorter season would have created more competition, but overall I think people have enjoyed the league system. Naturally there is room for improvement next season as we have all discussed, and you wont please everyone. However overall I think season one was a success.

I think it was a failure too and I even suggested they do 4 because it was more logical. However, the other issue was the free/low cost xfers. That weakened some servers and strengthened others so much that part of that system would have failed too. They did all they could to make it go bad, on purpose in my opinion. It still did better than their crappy implementation of what they call sPvP, which is why it looks successful, however, comparing Season 1 to its potential, this was in no way a success.

Leagues were a good way to bring in newer players and achievement hunters to experience WvW and hopefully get them hooked on how fun it can be. But they completely missed the point by placing emphasis on server ranking and ranking-based rewards.

WvW is a sandbox game mode, and a kitten fun one at that. It just can’t ever be competitively viable as long as server performance is based solely on coverage and population. There’s plenty of good ideas floating around out there on how to push the WvW experience in either direction, but trying to do both will always be a disappointment.

Last time these two servers faced off (Season 1, Week 1) SF won by only 40k points ( http://mos.millenium.org/na/wvw_seasons/index/115 ). Who has learned more this season? How does each server prepare to best the other? I, for one, wish [MU] was going to get in on that action next week.

I am so excited. Darkhaven has been preparing and organizing. Darkhaven is currently the underdog as everyone realizes, but don’t count us out yet! I also don’t think we’ve faced ET since the beginning of the season, so it will be good to see them again.

SF will certainly come out swinging with Cosa being the biggest punch. I look forward to seeing how DH brawls against the punches when the bragging rights of second place are on the line.

Nonetheless I hope this is an even better nailbiter then DH’s earlier match. DH is the underdog, but that dosent matter if you want it bad enough.

Never sure when competition is involved. It would be a sneaky ploy to lure in DH for the kill.

But i suspect it is true: a) we are talking SF here, which I would classify as more brash than cunning (…defiantly not cunning lol), b) Im sure SF dosent believe they need to finesse DH, and c) once you have been T8, servers lose alot of pretense in the experience.

Just some facts and clarifications about CoSA

Just FYI guys, the reason there are multiple CoSA guilds is much simpler then anyone assumes or speculates. It is simply due to the fact that you can have 500 accounts max in a single guild.

At its height we had around 1300 accounts, though we usually are stable around 800-1000, 900 average. This is why we have multiple guilds. Also, about 75%-80% of that are casual players who play maybe 2-3 times a week, out of which they spend 1 day in WvW and rest of the game in other areas. Our highest combined concurrent players online was around 200, but average is around 90-100, usually NA prime time on patch Tueasdays for PvE and Fridays. Again out of this number about 30% to 60% on any given day are PvE or SPVP players, not WvW.

Hope that clears up some things about us.

Even so, do you truly think they are bad on purpose? There are people in suits pulling the strings and as long as they are there, the people we hear from can’t do much. It’s the problem with gaming in general. Look at NCSoft shareholders, look at what they did before, put one and one together.

Ya, sorry but your second paragraph is not true. You are just trying to stir folks up because you can’t be that ignorant of the Bronze Tier. Or you may be, somehow. We face bigger number EVERY day when pretty much all of our players are sleeping/at work. If you do not know our coverage problem then you haven’t been around long.

The grand fight for second is right at our doorstep… I’m lucky that I’ll be able to take part of it.

DH and SF are 3.5 hours away from Bronze League’s week 7’s premier matchup! I hope it is a real nailbiter and the best match of the season for all involved! (DH and SF please note that ET speedbumps have been placed around the course to keep zerg speeds within safe limits.)

In other bronze league action is the fight for second place in the Hordes of Denravi/Kaineng/Zerguson’s Crossing rematch. If Ferg places 2nd here they tie for 4th overall, if they lose they get 5th place. Meanwhile if Kain gets second they tie with AR for 6th, if Kain gets 3rd this week then AR gets sole ownership of 6th overall.

As of reset, 4 of 9 servers have their fate in their own hands for their overall place during the last match of the season, not a bad last week.

We’ll let you guys know whats in the winning season chest. Chances are, knowing arena net it’ll be a couple of greens, a rare, 1 gold and the oh so awesome dolyak limited use finisher.
