If any devs see this, I would like to request a simple solution to a problem that, while it is not overly frequent, I have encountered at least half a dozen times playing PvP. It just happened again, and my team lost 504-467, with one of our players glitched in a wall for more than half the match. I understand that typing /stuck reports the position and offers you a choice to waypoint. That solution is useless in PvP, however, as there are no waypoints. Would it be possible to add an option to die and respawn after typing /stuck? You could even credit the other team with 5 points for the kill and make the player wait for the spawn timer, for all I care. That would be preferable to one team having to be down a player for much of the match. Just lost 13 rank points for a match my team very likely would have won if not for the glitch.
Thanks.
Yeah, this is about what I was expecting, and you’re right. I’ve actually never even left the Defend Shaemoor instance in the human tutorial. That’s how I’ve gotten 25k achievement points and 5 legendary weapons and a legendary back piece. #Geniuses
I know I’m potentially opening myself up to intense ridicule with this post, but can we please, please, please have a different (PvP maybe?) way to obtain the Gift of Battle? I’m sorry, but I hate WvW with an intense burning passion, and making me play WvW to get this necessary item for legendary crafting only intensifies my hatred. It wasn’t so bad when you could buy it for, I think it was 500 Badges of Honor, but this reward track nonsense is just oppressively horrible. I don’t like WvW, I don’t like the people who WvW and attack all of us who are forced into a game mode we have no interest in.
Having the same problem on my ele.
Gotta love ANet’s motto: “If it ain’t broke, hold my beer and watch this ….”
Seriously, the first time I ran up to clocktower after the changes, I thought I was lagging and the map hadn’t completely loaded. Awful, just awful. Two thumbs (and other appendages) down.
The clocktower looks Quagganed now. Sorry. It just does. Quite possibly the dumbest change to the game I’ve seen.
there’s still too much reliance on the rng of matchmaking. Tonight now I’ve had three out of four matches where we got ahead significantly (I’m talking 50-100 points), but then my teammates started acting like kitten kittens (self-censoring) and ended up losing. I can’t help feeling people are intentionally throwing matches. (In each instance, there was a party of two within the team).
I’m not an elite PvP player, I don’t expect that. But I do think I’m a fairly decent player who keeps getting held back by the kitten kittens (self-censoring again) I keep getting matched up with.
I haven’t experienced the problem with having the 3-skill pop me out of CA, but I have been having the problem with immediately popping out of CA upon left-clicking. Seems to fail about 90% of the time. I’ve not had a problem with F5, so that’s kind of a temporary workaround for me, but I’m so mouse oriented, it’s a challenge.
I don’t have a problem with the pip system, per se, but the focus on win streaks is farging kittened, as is what passes for a matchmaking system in ranked PvP since the start of Season 2.
Personally, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to find that the people with huge win streaks are also “coincidentally” the people who dump a lot of money into the gem store.
Long win streaks are, imo, along with long losing streaks, evidence of bad matchmaking. Good matchmaking should be matching like skilled players with like skilled players against like skilled players. Truth be told, if the matchmaking is working correctly according to that model, then you should in the long run be winning approximately 50% of your matches. (If you’re good enough to be pushing that number higher, then you should find yourself matched against better players, thus bringing that average back down to norm, which is 50%.) Sure, there’s some degree of RNG in the mix, so win and loss streaks will happen —that is to say that you won’t always invariably follow a w-l-w-l pattern -- but when you’re winning (or losing) 10, 20, 30 matches in a row? That’s a matchmaking failure.
But what is clearly happening, from what I can gather from my experience in the game and from reading these forums, is that some people (like me) are getting stuck in MMR hell, constantly matched up with terrible teammates against at least competent competition, while others are experiencing the exact opposite, neither of which is particularly fun for anyone in the long run.
Season 1 was, imo, terrific. But then ANet’s motto kicked in for Season 2: “If it ain’t broke, hold on sec, we’ll take care of that.”
I’ve won 5 out of 20 matches so far,so I would gladly settle for winning two then losing one.
That’s all well and good, but I’m now one of those people who are only in it for the backpack, because otherwise, the matchmaking has made ranked pvp completely unbearable.
I know I’m not an elite player, but I don’t exactly suck, either. Season 1, I got to the middle of Sapphire just by playing 2-3 rounds a day, 3-4 days a week. I would win, on average, about 45% of my matches. (Actually, I probably won far more than that, because I could usually get both daily profession winner dailies done in those 2-3 matches, though I’d sometimes suffer through a 3- to 5-match losing streak.) Since the start of Season 2, however, I lose about 90% of my matches. (Currently, I just made it to Tier 3 of Amber. I’ve won 5 out of 19 matches, so I’m doing a little better than I did in Season 2, but still quite a bit worse than I did in Season 1.) My problem is, I keep getting matched up on teams with people who just want to run around and 1v1 off point and have no concept of the tactics of the various maps, but matched against teams that have at least a half of a sense of what they’re doing. So, while I would be on the ugly side of a huge mismatch every now and again in Season 1 (like, maybe 1 out of 10-15 matches, while also being on the high side of such a mismatch about the same amount of times), since the start of Season 2, I’m not only losing most of my matches, I’m losing them in huge lopsided matches, like 500+ to 150 or less.
They should go back to using the matchmaking they had in place in Season 1, and just let the more elite players start the season either where they left off or very near that.
As it is, the only reason I’m playing Ranked PvP, instead of unranked, where I still win about 50% of the time or more, is to complete the Year of the Ascension achievements (currently 2 of 11 in Part III).

Been running around WvW and EotM for a couple weeks now myself. No spoon.
I can’t stand WvW, but I just need 2 more MPs to finish off all the Tyrian masteries. #LeSigh
For future reference, a nub is a knob or protuberance, like the tip of a pencil. A person who is new or unskilled at a game is a noob (more commonly spelled n00b). You look like a n00b when you spell it nub.
Yeah, I’m going back to Unranked PvP until they fix this kitten.
Just happened to me, too. ANet, get your act together.
You ought to at least disable this kitten trek location, then. We just had two hard treks (30 targets) in a row that we had to abandon because of this same bug, one in Dirtclaw Clef and one here. This is bullkitten, ANet, and you know it.
Unable to complete our Guild Bounty mission, because every bounty we get, we find him just standing there and cannot be interacted with. Just had the issue with Poobadoo and then with Brekkaback.
Still not fixed.
Still cannot complete the last chapter, because the updrafts and glider function only ~50% of the time.
I, too, have encountered each of these bugs, except for the below health threshold invulnerability. But that’s because I can’t get past the last gliding phase because the updrafts either completely fail or because my glider won’t deploy.
As for that last bug, easy fix, ANet: just make the glider automatically deploy on updraft.
As has been mentioned, it’s really frustrating being persistently defeated by bugs instead of the game, and it’s a real pity, too, because otherwise the mechanics of this boss fight are awesome, possibly the best boss fight in the entire game.
Still stuck at map loading screen. Not even getting an error, just the spinny thing.
Edit: After several minutes, finally got the error message.
Four days later …
Just adding my voice. I’m getting this on my characters as well. The only one I haven’t noticed it on (that I’ve played in recent days, that is) is my Ranger, but I’ve got her parked in PvP, so maybe that has something to do with it.
FWIW, I was not logged on before or during the patch, only after.
Yep, same problem. 5 skill only apperas SOME of the time, and arena is completely non-functional.
FWIW, there’s a LITTLE BIT of a work around. Reviving dead charr in the area counts toward the heart. Also, there are a couple flame legion power sources within the heart’s area. Disabling them counts a smidge, though killing the ember that spawns does not.
The 9/12/14 update seems to have fixed this issue, as far as I can tell so far. Anyone else?
wtf, “Arpheus”??? Are you ripping me off?
When they say it’s “working as intended,” I wonder if they understand the full import of their words. I get that they intended for minis to be disabled when there would be so many in a given area that it would cause significant performance problems, but in effect, what’s happening is that I (and obviously a lot of other people) haven’t been able to display my minis in any populated map at all. I have only been able to display them in instances where I am the only player, such as my home instances or the Hall of Monuments (haven’t tried it in a Personal Story instance yet, with or without party members). Whatever algorithm they’re using to decide when to disable minis is clearly too sensitive and needs to be tweaked. I don’t think they intended that minis now almost never be displayed.
OK, I know the official stance from ANet at this point seems to be that this is a feature, not a bug, but please explain this: if there are so few players on an instance in a given map that it’s asking for volunteers to move to another instance of said map, then how can it be that minis have to be hidden because of “rising player population”? DOES. NOT. COMPUTE.
Thanks, I’ll give that a try.
This has been going on for several weeks now, since one of the updates, but it’s been too long now for me to remember which one.
When you get to the tunnel in Path 1 of Citadel of Flame Explorable mode with the rolling balls of fiery insta-death, said balls are invisible. You can see their shadows and a red bar where they’re supposed to be, but you can’t see the actual balls, which makes it very difficult, though not impossible, to get across without a mesmer.
Not everyone seems to have this problem, but I’ve noticed that many do. I’ve tried searching for a solution to this, but the search function on these forums doesn’t work properly (returns No Results even when I enter search terms I know for a fact exist), and Google hasn’t helped either.
I’ve run the repair utility and I’ve updated my graphics drivers, to no avail. Sometimes, if it takes us long enough to get through the tunnel, because we don’t have a mesmer, they’ll suddenl appear, but this tends to take longer than it should even take to do the whole path.
I had this problem for months, what finally fixed it was doing this:
1. Navigate to your Guild Wars 2 installation folder.
2. Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
3. Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Repair.”
4. Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
5. Edit the “Target” line to include -repair at the end.
Note: Please make sure -repair is outside of the quotes
Correctly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe” -repair
Incorrectly Formatted Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -repair”
6. Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try step 5 again.
7. Right-click “Guild Wars 2 Repair” and select “Run as Administrator.”
Allow the repair to run and once completed, “Right-click” “GW2.exe” or your Guild Wars 2 Shortcut and select “Run as Administrator.”
Give it a try. It can’t hurt, and it might help.
Yep, massively bugged on Stormbluff Isle. No tears to be found anywhere. I’m trying it by guesting on Ehmry Bay now.
No go on Ehmry Bay. The correct pattern isn’t working. Same on Devonna’s Rest.
Thank you A-Net for putting one of the caches in perhaps the buggiest part of the map.

It lets me past the log in screen, but once I choose a character and click play it tells me it can’t access the log in server and that it’s probably my router (as if!).
One wonders if ANet has ever considered that the middle of a Friday or Saturday night is probably not the best time to go tinkering with the game.
It’s open on Tarnished Coast right now.
Dunno. Just tried with a group of 5 experienced players. Made it to the bosses with no problem. Bosses ate our lunches. Even when we weren’t in the red circles, we’d still get pwned for 85% damage for no apparent reason.
Yep. Having the same problem. Just started in the last few days. Probably something in one of the latest updates.
When I did Black Citadel with my Charr character a couple months ago, I had no problem. Tonight I’m trying to map BC with my human character, and I’m having the same problem as the OP. You go into the instance, but there’s no way to get back out but to log out or port to a waypoint. And yes, I backed well away from the door and came back, to no avail.
How on earth is this still not fixed? Inexcusable.
I paid 300 gems quite a while ago for a pair of boxing gloves that would make those lovely Batman graphics, as demonstrated here, but since the Halloween event, the skills have been stuck on the Costume Brawl skills. When will this last vestige of the Halloween event be removed and the boxing gloves returned to the state we paid for?
