ANet, you should pay attention to this. Player housing would be another awesome way to get people to buy gems. I was under the impression that it would be out with launch, and honestly, it’s one of those features that would keep me playing. I don’t come back all that often anymore, and player housing would give me and a lot of others a sense that the game was ours in a unique way, and give people like me something to come back to. This would be a great way for you to make money – you shouldn’t ignore it!

Yeah, Slafko…my thought is, it makes you look ignorant to talk about things you have no experience with. Every woman in this guild has tried standing up for herself. When men turn into trolls, they tend to gang up and do so en masse and defend each other’s privilege to tear a woman down. The woman always ends up losing in that situation. Her intelligence and character is entirely irrelevant.

Our guild is a safe zone, period. It’s the way we want to do things, and we’re successful, period. What we’re doing works and we’re happy.

I have one particular person, Fenrer.3865, who CANNOT accept my guild invite, no matter how much we kick, reinvite, and relog. This has been going on for days, and it seems to be just this one person. _She gets a “Network Error” message when she tries to accept. _ Help!

My newest applicant can’t accept my guild invite because of a “network error” and yesterday one of our members couldn’t represent.

Razeluxe, the truth of the matter is, misogyny is invisible to most people. It’s so part of our culture and our expectations that it’s easily missed. Misogyny can be something as innocent as choosing all males on your raid/dungeon run because that awesome tank chick that wants to go just “doesn’t feel right” (this has happened more than once, to many of us). It doesn’t always have to be what all of us see in map chat every day, though it often is. Either you are a feminist male and you see the value in what we’re doing, or at the very least understand why we’d create a refuge for the women that do want one, or you’re simply a part of the patriarchy and don’t even realize the message you’re sending.

It’s not about exclusivity. It’s about women uniting. You may say you treat your female guildmates just fine, and for all I know, you do. But if you really cared about them – truly cared – you’d understand that there are some women (not all, but some) who simply want a community of women to game with. It’s really not too much to ask for, and that’s why The Sisterhood exists.

@Ravenyx: Your concerns are justified, I think. I had the same worry when I set out to make this guild…will women rally to my banner or ridicule me? And of course, there was plenty of ridicule to go around – until the forums came up, one of the precious few ways we had for publicity was on map chat. You can imagine exactly how that went. For a while, I wondered if any other women felt the same as we did at all.

Like I told LittleZoe above, server transfers are still free (I just checked) You’d be absolutely welcome on Piken Square. Even if you don’t want to transfer, you can still join us. Stop by the website, fill out an app, and we’ll talk! And if you want to stay where you are, I hope you find what you’re looking for.

@Ladykiller: Thank you so much for that. It’s true. All of it. It’s as if a different reproductive system makes you less. You put it so well, and it’s always such a reassurance to see that we’re not the only ones that have dealt with this matter. It’s so easy for people that actually have good guilds to assume that the way it is with them is the way it is everywhere. But sadly, you and I know differently, because we’ve been on the short end of that particular stick. Should you ever have need of another guild, we’d love to have you!

@Anron: None taken. The guild admins are, and it’s rife – at least in part – among our entire leadership. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to see more, but it’s by no means a requirement.

Personally I dissagree. We currently have over 10 girls in our clan gaming with us without a problem. Maybe it is because we are a very mature clan, but we never had major issues about perv jokes or whatever. Also pervs will be noticed very quickly and kicked/banned from the clan.

I don’t see why there should be a male or female only Guild, people should game together and have fun, that’s the most important thing in my opinions.

My own experience is that lots of people (girls specifically) don’t say anything when they are uncomfortable with perverted jokes/unruly flirting.. I don’t by any means think every guild has things like that going on but neither does anyone else. I think it’s more addressing the guilds that -do- have these issues present and unless there is a ridiculously vulgar situation, things may be overlooked. And there are plenty of girls who are the ones doing the inappropriate flirting with guys in a guild, so I don’t think people should view this as it applies to everyone. This looks like a great guild to avoid any possibility of being uncomfortable and meeting with very like-minded people.

I’ve tried out numerous servers and the best server for RP I’ve found – by far – is Piken Square (EU). People here seem more serious about their RP than anywhere else I’ve seen, and it’s overwhelmingly English-speaking.

My own guild is Medium-RP (we encourage it, but don’t require it). But we’re all female…I don’t know if that would be an issue. >.>;;

Another guild I ran into here on the forums that seems really serious is The Ashen Chapter…they’re a heavy, heavy RP order within The Vigil. You can find their thread here:

Knights. Assassins. Clerics. All bound by tradition and arcane rituals, all working in the shadows to further the goals of their ancient order.

Why We Exist

You’ve all heard the old, tired jokes in chat. “There’s no women on the internet.” Or, “women don’t play mmo’s”…and we’ve gotten this one: “Sisterhood of transvestites, maybe…they can’t be women.” These crude, ignorant comments are precisely why we exist. Men seem increasingly frightened of the idea that women can enjoy an mmo, too, and that being a woman is somehow a handicap. If you’re an active gamer chick, chances are you’ve felt ignored, your talents and contributions overlooked…unless you’re being hit on.

The Sisterhood is a safe, friendly place for all women where you won’t have to fear misogyny. We’re also q-friendly (run by two lesbians!) so you can feel totally safe and at home, regardless of sexual orientation.

We have a guild bank and guild armorer, and we’re currently working on guild weapons. A vent or mumble channel is coming soon, so you know who you’re talking to. RP is always available (and encouraged!). We’ve created a safe place for women, a place where your talents can shine. And there’s a place saved just for you.
