Also, many people would be quite surprised what degrees and insights many people that play this game actually have. I am not saying “everyone” posting here is an expert about “said” posts, yet many are far more qualified than you would find on a game forum 10 years ago.

Second, I agree, I’m sure there’s lots of people playing games that have somewhat relevant degrees, but we’ll agree to disagree on the insight part. Especially reddit.

However, throwing a thread up on a forum about the “clear state of the failing game” without having any financial data, background data nor any insight whatsoever into the company, shows only one thing: You have no idea what you’re on about. Hence the basement remark. If the OP was really involved in a game company at a higher level, he/she would know there’s more to it than shelling out a few bucks for promoting one part of the game that is obviously getting attention and it would be downright asinine to assume it has no ROI.

Third: To get in before the tide, no I do not and have never worked in a gaming company or anything similar. I work at a PR firm. I just employed common sense.

OCX here and no ping issues. Would help the devs if you stated where you were from, what net you were using, in which aspects you lag(ged).

Since you linked a WvW lag thread, I assume it’s just there?

As stated in my original post in bold above I said the game was unplayable in all aspects because of extreme latency, genius. I am from Australia (east coast) and my internet connection is 125 download and 2.5 upload (I have fiber optic internet). I have troubleshooted this issue in GW2 by testing my internet via websites such as Speedtest.net and Pingtest.net which all returned extremely positive results. Additionally, I called my ISP to ensure there was nothing wrong with my internet, in which case they told me that my internet was operating in perfect condition. Moreover, I further tested my connection by noting my latency in other games, in domestic servers and West US servers. Domestic servers returned a ping of 10 and on West Coast USA servers I had a consistent ping of 210 – 240. Compared with GW2 ping of 1000 – 4000 and above.

Okay, “genius”, mine’s never spiked above 240. Only because you’re experiencing the issue and not 100% of the rest of us from OCX doesn’t give you the right to be a kitten about it.

Username/Pass clears at patch

At both yesterday’s and today’s patch both my username/passwords cleared, even though the “save user/pass” are ticked.

Anyone else got this problem? I realize it’s nothing big, but does get a bit annoying when you have to reset your pass cos you forgot it.. ;p

While the upcoming balance changes and everything that comes with it are great, I think quite a few of your player base are wondering this:

1. Whatever happened to one of your big selling points for HoT, namely legendary weapons? It’s been three months since the release of the first set of three, and I’m going to assume that will be the standard? So since no mention here, I’m going to assume it’ll be another 1-2 months before the next set of three? Thus, we can expect some legendary weapons to be released in 2018? At least give us an idea on timelines, for the love of god.

2. Ascended crafting cost: You mentioned in a previous post/twitch that you’ll be adjusting the cost for crafting ascended armor/weapons. It’s been quite a while since that happened. Was this just some random comment thrown out without any substance or is this actually in the planning stages? I realize coding is hard, and trying to juggle the economy without screwing up isn’t an easy job. But I can’t see adjusting the amount of items needed for a certain item to be that big a deal.

3. Judging from the previous posts in this thread, Anet replied to questions/concerns on Reddit yet again before replying here? If that’s true, consider this the first of official customer complaints, whatever that’ll achieve. I for one don’t use Reddit and I shouldn’t have to be forced to use a random forum over the official forum to get answers. If your employees are going to continue posting on Reddit instead of their supposed official forums, you’ll find not just me leaving these forums.

Dragon's Stand: Network Error

I’m sure this has been addressed before, but just in case:

Please fix the Network Error bug that pops up after Mordremoth dies. The second you disconnect after the meta is over, you can’t get back into the map, even with 200% contribution.

I realize it’s so that people can’t pod farm on alts, or whatever the reason behind it is, but why are you punishing people who disconnect/crash?

Please fix it, it’s been weeks. Thanks.

First part of Rata Novus event chain (Bring Archaic Golem Parts to Agent Zildi) is bugged.

Agent Zildi isn’t accepting golem parts.

This is right after Rata Novus lane failed to get the gerent to emerge during KOTJ.

To start, I had a problem in the Heart of Maguuma Mastery section. One of the progress bars filled and would not unlock. I switched to another mastery and all corrected itself after a few days.

Now my problem is in the Central Tyria section of masteries. The Pact Commander section is completely unlocked but the other two segments, Legendary Crafting and Fractal Attunement are essentially frozen on the last masteries. The progress bar (As shown in the screenshots bottom right) is full for both and no unlock. I finished the Legendary Crafting first. When it did not unlock, I switched to Fractal Attunement to finish that out. Fractal attunement also refused to unlock when finished.

From the screenshots, i can see you only have one mastery point for Tyria and you need way more than that.

Please note at the bottom of both screen shots: 3,175,000/3,175,000. So yes, it may show less mastery points due to a bug but I earned every point.

What he’s saying is that you only have 1 Tyrian Mastery Point (red) to spend, yet it costs 9 to unlock Tier4 of Legendary Crafting and it costs 5 to unlock Tier4 of Fractals. You need to get more Tyrian MPs (through achievements) in order to unlock either.

Ach… I was asked by support to post here in this thread.

I completely understand what both you and Swift are trying to tell me. What you are not understanding is that the mastery points are now missing. My Tyrian mastery section is totally locked up. The experience bar at the very bottom right of both screen shots shows the last fractal mastery section at 3,175,000/3,175,000 exp. The experience bar is locked on that amount, been that way for over a week. That 3,175,000 is the cost of that last fractal segment even though the screen does not show them all in red. I actually saw the mastery points in red when I only had one mastery point to go on both the legendary crafting and fractal attunement segments.

This is a bug….

Do you mean that you leveled it, it deducted the 5 mastery points but didn’t progress?

If not, the 3,175,000 is half the cost of the tier, the other half is the stars to the right, depicting how many mastery points (stars) are needed to complete said tier.

E.g.: Cost of Fractal Tier 4: 3,175,000 XP & 5 Tyrian MPs. You currently have 3,175,000 XP & 1 Tyrian MP.

Druid: Ancestral Grace buggy

Lately I’ve been experiencing an issue with the Druid staff #3 skill Ancestral Grace. After using it I’ll randomly get “stuck”, as in the wisp finishes and I can’t jump/wasd. I’ll have to use the skill again to get myself unstuck.

Anybody else having trouble with this?

Tried out the revenant (human), and ran around on him for a bit when suddenly at lvl 10 my healing skill #6 disappeared. The empty space now flashed, but there was no arrow to choose a new skill or anything. Checked traits and build, tried relogging, nothing worked. When I hit Level 11 and traits unlocked, the healing skill suddenly reappeared.

Not sure if I’m just missing something, or if this is an actual bug.

Changing any virtual memory setting should pretty much do nothing. Memory management is transparent to the game and it doesnt matter if the memory used by the game is in RAM or paged out. Performance will suffer though if Windows has to page in memory from your HDD/SSD.

In theory you could actually run out of RAM while playing. Like with a disabled page file and 4GiB of ram on your machine. Thats not the case here though. At least not for me. I got 32GiB of RAM in my rig and most of it is in standby.

Whats going on here is an address space issue. The game is only a 32bit process so it can only address 4GiB at maximum. With a 32bit Windows this is reduced to about 3GiB (depends a bit on the settings). Switching from a 32bit to a 64bit Windows will give the game a bit more room to work with so that is recommended ofc. I dont really know why ppl are still running a 32bit Windows tbh. But even on a 64bit Windows it will crash! I got two OOMs yesterday and then started to look at the virtual size (NOT the working set aka. memory usage). I had to restart the game during Taidha, which was the start of my world boss tour, and when I reached Claw the working set was up to roughly 3GB and the virtual size was at 3.89 or so. Not long after that the game crashed again. The game is just running too close to the 32bit border.

With a 64bit client you could use up to 8TiB, so its practically impossible to run into these kinds of issues. But its not, so they have to do some (further) optimizations to stay below that silly 4GiB border. As much as I would like the game to be 64bit and use all the memory it needs (I would have no problem with it going to 16GiB or so :P) I would settle for not crashing.

We’re all aware that even hi-end machines running 64bit crash, the point here is that 32bit clients (at least the ones posting on the forums) are crashing every other minute.

Unless I’m missing something, your bytes received state 6.5gig, not 11.5gig…? Not sure where you magicked that number up.

My download was exactly the size of what the HoT launcher said it was, router recorded it.

So I’ve been crashing left and right in LA, VB and pretty much anywhere except for PvP.
In VB after every event, in LA when I just run around.

Annoying, frustrating.

Error message is an OOM (Out Of Memory): Heap (you can check when you click on more details on your crash report). Means the game doesn’t have enough RAM to work with.

Now, can you please post here if you’re experiencing this, and answer this: Are you running 32bit or 64bit?

If, like me, you’re running 32bit that might be the issue as 32bit can only use (2.9?g) a certain amount of memory, and the game is basically closing down due to lack of available memory.

Possible fix (this is why I let my GF look for stuff!), this was somewhere on reddit from last year:

On win7.
Start
Control panel
System
On the left hand side Advanced system settings.
Make sure you are on the advanced tab in the pop up window.
Under performance click settings.
Click the advanced tab.
At the middle bottom Virtual memory, click change.
At the top place click on or place a check mark in the box for. "Let windows manage page file for all drives.
Exit out of all windows and reboot.

Now, this didn’t work for me as mine was already ticked, but it worked for the guy on reddit and hopefully for some of you as well. So I’m going to go and install the 64bit version now and see if it helps. I’ll let you guys know. Fingers crossed.

GF finished the download with around 3.5gig.

My download is still going at 95% and it’s already sitting at 3709MB.

Why in the world is there such a big difference? I was online just before launch.

Only difference is OS. She uses Win10, I use Win7.

Same problem here.

If it does load me into the character selection screen, I get some “Transaction in progress” error and get kicked out of the game again.

Website and forums take ages to load, it took me about 3 minutes to even reply to this.

South East Asia as well.

Hi.

I realize the bug regarding the hammer dropping after someone dies in an unfortunate place and thereafter not re-appearing was fixed with the Sep 9 patch.

However, it’s worse now; At least it was as of ~15 hours ago. The hammer was picked up, and could not be dropped anymore. Once the stacks went up and killed the person carrying it, the hammer disappeared just like in the previous bug that was “fixed” with the other day’s patch.

We haven’t been to FotM since, because it’s silly to waste time just to have to restart every time you roll Colossus. At least before, if you were careful you could avoid glitching it.

I’m hoping this was a singular issue/bug, or a freak of nature, but if not… FotM is basically broken.
