Predator no sound for me

Ok, thanks for the explanation. So it an issue similar to when the system hides the miniatures i.e. during Karka in order to sustain a good performance.
Of course I’d prefer that the sounds where played for me normally and be muted for other players, I dont have any attitude to annoy other players with my sounds! :P

Predator no sound for me

Hi,

I ’ve recently crafted Predator, the legendary rifle I always wished to wield, because of the amazing flame theme and of course the pew pew sound.
Unfortunately, I am a little disappointed at my very first battles since I came across the following issue. During a fight when other people are around, Predator goes silent almost for all the fight and only it makes hat classic sound 1 or 2 times, and all the other times I shoot with it there is no sounds coming out of it. At the same time, I clearly hear the sounds of other people around me, wielding longbows, shortbows, pistols (even Quip), but not my weapon((
On the other side, being alone at a training dummy in HoTM the sound is normally heard every time I shoot with it.
So, I suppose is an issue when there are other characters around me. Is it a measure to mute these sounds to be less annoying for other people? But then why I was haering each and every sounds from a Quip next to me, which is even more annoying (at least for me). Is there any other explanation?

Thanks in advance!

So it is a mix of both ok, can you saw me an example with a video or photo?
I have only found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOAS6FfnHdw
which first is not my case and second its not rly clear what happens with the auras.

I mean the aura around the character. For the above example, Bolr creates some thunders that stick to wour character and reach down to the ground, while Frostfang creates a smooth icy aura around the character.

If you hold both which of these effects will prevail, or somehow both will exist?

Hi,,

I would like to know what happens with the auras around the player if you hold two different legendaries in each hand. For example Bolt at main hand and Frostfang at off-hand.
I searched a bit online and the only thing i found was about the footsteps which are determined by the main hand weapon. Couldn’t fine something about the auras.

Thanks in advance.

Elementalist Glyph of Elementals

Hello,

For some time now I had the idea that the elemental summoned by the elementalist spell Glyph of Eleementals is doing absolutely nothing. Even clicking the Flame Barrage spell was not resulting in any flames hitting my opponent.
Because of the too many spells going on in world events/dungeons etc, I just tested on a training dummy in PvP area. I summon Fire Elemental, cast the elite spell Flame Barrage and the fire elemental keeps standing still doing nothing at all.
Is this a bus or I miss something from the spell explanation or the requirements of this spell.

Thank you!

Thank you a lot, you remembered me the splitter change, I should have thought of it since I have already changed 2 splitters in 4-5 years period.

So for now I removed it and the game has become smooth again. I wait for one more day to pass to guarantee that this was the problem.

First of all thank you for your thorough reply, it was really helpful to understand the whole subject. If I get ir right you meant to check the ping response with other internet servers too in order to exclude that it is an issue with arena’s server.
So below I post the test results with google, bing and yahoo respectively:

High ping issue

Hello,

Since yesterday I noticed that my skills took sometime to activate from the moment I was clicking them, something like a skill lag issue.

I searched a bit and learned that you can see your ping from the options menu and I see values from 100 up to 250 for the most time and some spikes up to 500 and even 1500.
I carried out an internet speed test for my connection and it calculates 25 ping.

I also tried to shut down my antivirus (Avast Internet Security) but that didn’t change anything.

Finally I did the -diag test that GW2 suggests and I attach the results below.

I play GW2 for almost a year and half and never had a network issue with it, so i find it weird that this thing started yesterday.

At next post I will try to attach the diag log file if it’s not too long.

I can see some 50% and 70% packet loss data towards the end if I read it correctly, but I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with this issue.

Thanks you in advance!

Out of curiosity, how is stacking immersion breaking? I see people using that phrase often to critique things that they don’t like. Quite often the usage doesn’t make much sense.

By breaking immersion for that exact matter, i mean that two persons cannot exist one in another one like they are ghosts.

This has happened to me many times, but i finally found out that the suspect was an external HDD i had connected.
From times to times this HDD was awakening, and when it did that mouse disappeared and appeared after some time. Since then i always disconnect it when i launch GW2 and i have never again faced that problem.

Maybe we will be lucky and see them in the new expansion, where we are promised for some fights of greater challenge than the existing ones.
Also many rumors have been heard about some raids being designed. So maybe in the future, more complex battles will be designed and this mechanic may change.

Thank you for the fast reply, as i said it doesn’t really makes the game unplayable so that i must play another game.
If this is already beaten to death as you said then its okay. I completely understand the stacking helps with boons/utilities, blocks etc, but if a way was found to spread the boons in a wider area, not too big either, then stacking could be reduced, and players would just be near one to another.

I don’t know if this subject has been discussed before, but I believe one of the big turn offs of the game (no accusation meant, I play the game daily and enjoy it 100%), a thing that destroys immersion etc, is the stacking of all players in one position.
This is most annoying in dungeons, where specific spots exist in almost all fights, making hugely beneficial to stack (buffs, block etc) killing bosses much faster and safely. I think that during stacking each character loses its identity and the customization of your character is completely lost during the fight.
So I made this topic to gather any suggestions to remove the stacking mechanic from the game, but keeping at the same time the aoe buffs, I.e. expanding their range.
Right now I can think of two ways of removing stacking. The first is to make player models not penetratable (so that one character can’t walk through another as if it is a ghost). This solution might increase a lot the computational cost. So the second idea is that when 5 players are stack on one, a huge aoe instant attack comes from the boss and hits for half life.
Concluding, do you also find stacking like a turn off? Can you come up with other ideas to prevent this tactic?

[Suggestion] Statistics panel

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Admiral Ursa.8391

Admiral Ursa.8391

OP’s suggestion is only feasible if ANet has kept account statistics since launch. While they undoubtably keep statistics for the game as a whole, that doesn’t mean it’s kept per account. I would think it wouldn’t be, as it’s useless information that takes up data space.

This is exactly my concern, that the data are too many to be held for each character and each account from launch of the game.
As of damage meter, this must not be an issue, because the game itself will be saving these data only for statistics, not to compare it with other players.

This statistics system is only for personal achievement and to keep track of all the things we have done since account creation, which I find it very interesting!! Don’t know if you feel the same excitement as me for that system :P
There are many things, from very unimportant (trees lumbered, foods eaten), to more serious (highest dmg ever dealt), that would be awesome to monitor after many hours of play.

I wish a dev takes notice of this suggestion, especially to solve our question if Anet keeps track of such data (even some of them) or not.

Hi,

As the topic title says, I would like to suggest the addition of another panel into the current Hero panel. This panel would include statistics of the player throughout its whole playtime, like number of mobs killed, total amount of gold gathered, total damage done to enemies/players, maximum damage ever dealt etc, I think you get what I mean.
These statistics could be divided in two general categories, refering to both the entire account and each character alone.

I have found these info very interesting in other MMOs (if I remember right WoW had such a panel too) as they depict the progress and dedication of the player in GW2. It is also something relatively easy to implement. My only uncertainty is that if such statistics are currently saved to the servers, so that if this feature goes online, the statistics would include info from the very start of each account/character and not from the launching date.

I’d really appreciate to hear the ideas and suggestions of other community members and if you also would enjoy such a feature.

I have been playing for almost over a year and just recently I started playing PvP (5v5 unranked), which I found it very interesting, despite the fact I frowned upon it all this time and i was doing only PvE.
I think that PvP, leveling up new toons, customizing existent characters to your match your tastes, some daily bosses (Tequatl), daily achievements and slowly building up for a future legendary can keep you pretty busy!

Hi,

Since last patch, the lfg tool has changed and each time the system auto-refreshes the several parties available there, the several tabs move in and out of the lfg list, making impossible to read the title of the parties and even more impossible to join the one you want. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?
If yes, do you know if this is a permanent interface change or just a bug that will be fixed?

Thank you!

Loot = Why We Play (Stop the Nerf)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Admiral Ursa.8391

Admiral Ursa.8391

The purpose of every MMO is, and has always been, to get nice looking high end items, killing bosses after reaching the lvl cap and getting yourself into pvp (& WvW), if ofc you are interested in it.

GW2 has made a very interesting move, making easy enough to grab full exotic gear at lvl 80, after which a character is pretty much complete and can fully enjoy the PvE content and WvW (to be honest Ascendent armor is not much of improvement after exotic, unless for very deep FotM). Concerning pvp we all know that u can participate from lvl 1 as it does not require any external armor, making it absolutely skill based and that is totally fair.

The above fact, makes legendary weapons (and to some extent Ascedent armor) a personal choice, as they are not obligatory to win difficult fights etc. and so they exist only for cosmetic reasons.
BUT some of us want to craft ONE (keeping it low excluding ppl that already have 7) legendary weapon, in order to have a longterm purpose for our playing hours, and after completing it to enjoy the feeling of fullfilment. Unfortunately, even after obtaining somehow the precursor (i dont want to discuss here the current filthy state of precursor prices), a ton of mats are needed which after some point need to be farmed.

Concluding, a way must always exist to farm for ppl who want to farm, as it is not something all (casual) players do. It’s not like all players around Europe where participating days and nights at the old Frostgorge/Queensdale train. Something must always exist farmwise to fill the hours of the day after dungeons, world bosses, fractals for hardcore players.
I cannot really understand the ppl who say that loot is not the target or they congratulate Anet for nerfing farm methods. These guys are obviously casual players, and ofc im not criticising them, but they are not alone at this game. If they dont want a legendary weapon they are welcome not to get one, as i explained it is not necessary in any way.
Hope Anet will come at its senses and bring the game to the steady state it was 2-3 months before, and CERTAINLY introduce the precursor scavenge hunt to return the prices to a logic level.

Frost gorge train ruined

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Admiral Ursa.8391

Admiral Ursa.8391

Train was the only way to fill the rest hours of the day, after having made dungeon runs/fotm etc, in order to make gold and buy stuff which is the target of MMOs after all.So cant see why train was nerfed after all.
If it is not brought back (maybe i’m a dreamer), something equal must replace it, else this sucks big time.

It’s really lame for me giving the opportunity to apply a legendary skin to any lvl 1 toon, and removing the way getting them.
