If you don’t wanna hear what I have to say, get lost. And the GW2 audio is in fact some of the worst in the video games industry. Simple as that.
I have to agree with the OP. Personal story has been criticized massively all over the internet, its the worst aspect of this game. The writing is terrible, the acting is shocking, and the missions are insane! I’m up to this one where my human has to fight a centaur warlord. I’m scaled down, and I should be able to walk over him, but I just can’t do it! It’s the most frustrating thing. It’s supposed to be my personal story, I shouldn’t have to ask couple friends in to help out. I don’t want to have to waste time asking my friend to help me out there when we could be doing something actually worthwhile and actually fun.
I’m sorry, but I hate the audio in this game. It’s shocking. I am sick and tired of playing a character who is so stuck up and arrogant he always thinks he’s the best every bloody time I get an achievement. The ‘I can outrun a centaur’ line among others is getting really, really irritating, and I came into the game thinking there was going to be fully voiced quests etc. My mistake, instead I got some of the worst audio from NPCs in the history of video games. I’m sorry to compare to wow, but wow has better audio than this, even though it doesn’t have audio on its quests. That’s how bad the audio is here. The voice acting, some of it is good, (Nolan North) but most of it is terrible. The audio in the personal story (along with the famously shockingly bad writing and storytelling) is so bad you can just hear the voice actors reading it off the script, hardly any of it has any emotion or effort put into it. Did Arenanet get the cheapest voice actors they could get??? While I think I will turn the audio out right off, I do want the living breathing city feel and I’m not going to get that if I do. But if I turn it on, every minute I get my hearing plastered with more terrible quality dialogue and NPCs rubbishing on about the same thing they were whinging about 2 minutes ago. In addition, I was experimenting with creating a new character about five minutes ago but what was that in the background? Some poor quality audio with a whirring sound followed by some dude coughing up blood or something. I mean do they have to put THAT there when I’m trying to concentrate on creating a new character? Seriously, whoever decided to put that in the creation process must either think they’re really funny or has no sense of ambience whatsoever.
Ok, I have to say Jeremy Soule’s music is pure excellence. His stuff always is. But please, get rid of, or change the frequency, or the quality, of the audio in this game so I don’t have to turn it off in utter disgust.
I have to agree with the OP. Some of the respawn rates are rediculous, especially when u go into a cave, kill monsters, and then have to kill them all AGAIN when ur heading out again. Pretty stupid and tedious. And its like ‘oh how about I break immersion and have to pay a rediculous sum of money to teleport out’. Some of the things in this game are not better than other MMOs, they are worse.
Did you even read his post ? And no mounts will not fit in this game, and they won’t come anyway, end of story.
Yes I read this post.
Give me one good reason.
And sense are you the final authority on everything?
I bet Caedmon didn’t even read my original post reply on the first page lol. So he doesn’t even really have a basis to his argument.
Another person thinking GW2 needs to be completely, utterly different from WoW. Wake up, GW2 ALREADY HAD TONS of stuff WoW has, like banks, and classes, and a persisitant world, and cities, and pvp, and quest rewards, need I go on.
I have laid out perfectly valid reasons why mounts should be in the game. Second, Anet have said no FLYING mounts. Third all those people saying no to mounts have no argument at all, they are obviously biased and selfish and think the game should be made for them only. Just because YOU don’t want them doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be available for other people. The game isn’t made for you, get over yourself. Fourth, those saying no because wow has them is just plain childish and stupid. OH NO, WOW HAS CLASSES, AND RACES AND BANKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT. GW2 SHOULDN’T HAVE THEM EITHER.
Give me a break, there is no reason not to have mounts in the game.
I would also support duelling. There should be an option to turn off invites to dual so you never have to put up with those if you don’t want to, but I think it would be awesome to be able to duel, especially your friends. Plus, Anet seems to be obsessed with making player characters so obnoxious and arrogant due to the voiced dialouge, that it would totally be in character to duel others.
Firstly, Mounts (NOT flying) immerse you in the world, because they are riding beasts. It’s natural and realistic that riding beasts would be part of the lore (as they are in any fictional world). Honestly, having no mounts due to the fact that there were none in GW1 is not a reason to exclude them. GW2 is not the same game, in fact its quite different from the first game.
Second, you’re not going to bypass content cos you’ve already experienced the content by walking there first. They can make it that you can only get a mount by exploring content and unlocking it. You couldn’t summon your mount in an area you haven’t explored, this forces you to experience the content on foot.
Thirdly, mounts can be disabled in cities and when interacting with NPCs, so there’s no reason for players to be whinging about people on mounts covering up NPCs and such.
Fourth: mounts will NOT give an unfair advantage. Because everyone should have the right and the ability to get them. Mounts could be mostly cosmetic but be slightly faster than walking so pretty much like the speed boost except not so lame. But I’d be fine with it if they were the same speed as walking.
Fifth: It is quite exhilarating and satisfying riding beneath the stars on your loyal steed.
Sixth: They’ve said they want the player to feel like a hero. Steeds are a classic and traditional part of a hero’s story. I already have doubts about Anet’s ability to make the player feel like a hero; mounts can only improve this.
So I would vote in favour of mounts.
Yes, definitely. To be able to check out my friends gear and stuff, as well as my own characters’ would be awesome. Sure, sometimes its a vanity thing, but I would love to be able to post the url of my character to someone so I can say ‘here, have a look at my character.’
Personally I think the UI is a bit clunky and looks far from polished. There aren’t even borders around the action bar or the windows. When you open a preview item window and its over the top of another window, you can’t even see the edge of the window. And I know the colour is to go with their ‘painted’ art style, but they could’ve chosen something at least pretty, not the colour of something a cow just released from its backside. It’s pretty horrible in my opinion.
I want the ability to be able to sit on a chair properly. I mean seriously, you should be able to go to a tavern and SIT around a table and have some drinks with your friends. And I mean sit properly, not try and move your character into the right position on top of a chair and hope it looks right when you type the /sit emote.
So why isn’t there an option to mail to your own characters? Personally I feel it is really annoying when I find a really cool weapon that would be good for another character, to have to go all the way back to the bank and put it there for them. And then as that character you have to retrieve it out of there again. Wouldn’t it be better to simply be able to mail directly to the character so as soon as you log in with that character, you could get the item you sent yourself?

I also second a trade option. I’m a bit sick of having to open up a mail window, then type who I want to send the item to. It’d be more convenient when I’m questing with my friends, to simply rite click on their portrait and hand them the loot.
Can we please be able to simply hit tab to switch between chat targets? Bit sick of having to right click on people and go whisper if I’m talking to multiple people at once.
Can we please shut the crafting criers up? Or at least have an option to turn them off? I mean I like most of the dialogue, I don’t want to turn it off, but every time I walk in a city there’s this bloody person running up to be shouting ‘are you here for crafting… we all need to learn crafting of every sort…’ And I’m like ‘no we don’t, this is roleplaying and my character doesn’t make stuff so sod off!’
yeah I agree, some of the dialogue loops far too frequently. I personally am sick of hearing the sylvari say ‘I know your face from my dream’ and when my own character says all this arrogant stuff like ’I’m amazing.’ I mean seriously? Do they want us to play characters who are totally up themselves?
I think they should quieten down the dodge, I have a human thief and the dodge is so incredibly loud the walls and windows in my flat shake. And besides, a thief is supposed to be quiet and stealthy, so dodging would be fast but it would also be silent, like an assassin or something lol.
I think the portal sounds are a bit loud. You can hear them when you’re in the monastary and trying to do the human zone level 11 heart. It sounds like a spaceship landing or something lol. While I think the sound is pretty cool, I think its far too loud and shouldn’t be able to be heard that far away from their point of origin, I mean I’m no where near them!
I disagree with the OP. Jeremy Soule is one of the best composers around, and has created some of the greatest music for video games there is. Jack Wall is good also he did Myst Exile which I enjoyed, but his resume hardly compares to the legendary music Jeremy Soule has provided for some of the greatest RPGs in video game history.
Please get rid of this sound when you use the sleep emote. It is possibly one of the worst pieces of audio I’ve heard in a video game. It’s not funny, its just plain stupid. In addition, this is supposed to be roleplaying, and my character doesn’t snore. Maybe a snore emote would be better for those who want to snore.
