Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
In the heat of the invasion event, I was trying to sort out my packed inventory on the fly, and accidentally dropped one of Vorpp’s quest items – the Oscillating Diaphragm. On quick glance, I thought it was an unneeded tuning crystal. I hadn’t talked to Vorpp after completing the previous story step, so I wasn’t expecting it.
I’ve tried to fight more Champion Twisted Nightmares to see if I can get it to drop again, with no luck. Since the items are soulbound, I tried it with a different character to see if they would drop for her, with no luck.
I do have the other two quest items, so is there any way that I can get another one of these?
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Welcome, everybody! Can’t wait to meet you all. :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@Orric | Did you want an invite to our guild, the Legion of Honour? If so, I’ll be happy to send one!
@Vague | Repping is not mandatory whatsoever, so no worries there! I’ll send you an invitation so you can check it out, if you haven’t already received one.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@DirtyRich | Welcome! I’ll hop online and send you an invite, if you haven’t already gotten one. :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Welcome to everyone who is new… I look forward to seeing you in-game! :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Welcome, Melanie! Sorry that the forum registration didn’t work out for you, but we’ll get that figured out. It sounds like you will fit in perfectly, nonsense is the name of the game where we are concerned! We are pretty casual as well, but there are players that know quite a bit about armor sets and builds and such. I think it’s confusing too! In any case, there are lots of folks who can help out with that. If you haven’t gotten an ingame invite yet, I’ll send one right now!
EDIT: Vlawde’s post came in right before mine… In any case, you’ll get an invite from somebody! xD
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Welcome, Clandestine! I’ll send you an ingame invite to our guild. If you’re interested, we also have a guild website which you are welcome to check out as well (link in my signature).
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Shameless bump for an excellent cause. :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@ FreshPooky| Oooh, I need to finish Orr also, so if you see me online – message me!
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Are there any other places like Rata Sum where we could explore, as well? It would be fun to eventually do a grand tour of all of the places we’re not supposed to be! xD
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Please let me know how the Great Plunge goes, I’m unfortunately not near my GW2 computer tonight. Best of luck to everyone!
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@Loco | I’ll hop on and send an invite to you! Don’t worry about being new – we were all there once! Please don’t hesitate to ask questions or ask for help whenever needed. :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Welcome, Starry! GW2 is a bit different than other MMOs, so it’s fun (and sometimes frustrating) to get used to it. We’re a very friendly bunch, so if you have questions or need help, please ask!
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
I change all the time… When I unlock a new dye that I like, I see what I have that will go with it. Although, I haven’t been able to bring myself to make a pink character (except as a joke!)
Right now I’ve got a brown and teal setup on my Ranger that actually looks much better than it sounds.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@ Soda | I’ve noticed that lots of guildies have been guesting over to Ferguson’s, so it must be a great server! I haven’t been over there yet, but I’ll have to come see what all the fun’s about.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@Sargent | Have you posted here before? I remember your username very clearly from something, but I don’t know what, hehe. In any case, welcome to the gang!
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
I have that happen sometimes, especially if the skill is newly learned. Usually equipping something different and then re-equipping the item in quest helps me though… I’ve never had the problem last for more than a few seconds of troubleshooting. And the problem never “strikes” in the middle of a fight, so it hasn’t been much of an issue for me.
Good luck!

Tears of Itlaocol is a minidungeon in the Caledon Forest. Every mob in there is a veteran, plus you get an achievement for going through it the first time. Here’s the link to the wiki page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tears_of_Itlaocol

Invites are up to date – enjoy the guild everybody!
Ranks have changed, and I’m not able to invite folks to the guild anymore. Someone else will have to invite you. It shouldn’t be long, though!

@DEK | Thank you for jumping in there!
@Labyrinth | I didn’t catch that you were most interested in WvW and other server-specific stuff. If I had, my response would have been much different. Sorry to come across as unwelcoming and/or unwilling to work with you! It would be great to have a WvW hub (or several hubs) for folks that believe in the ideals of O:U to be able to coordinate WvW efforts! I think that a partnership could work well. RIOT members could rep the Legion if they want to participate in our chat and other nonWvW stuff, and CD Legion members could rep RIOT when WvWing. That way, all of our crazy guild chat won’t be in the way during WvW efforts, and RIOT guild chat would be available for that.
@Fyre | Welcome! I will invite you when I get home, if someone hasn’t already by that time. :] PUGs can be tough, but our dungeon runs are fun and relaxed, so I encourage you to try them out again!

Labryinth, I will let Glitch answer most of your question, because that is his territory. As you know, though, Operation: Union and the Legion of Honor is a cross-server guild, a bit unlike the traditional GW2 guild. So we do not have a guild on Crystal Desert or any other server, but a worldwide guild. It is working out fine for us, especially now that guesting is available. I’m not sure I understand why there wouldn’t be room for everyone in one guild, based on the type of guild we are.
Of course, we have no repping requirement, so folks are welcome to seek out another guild that has what they are looking for… However, I’m not sure that I see a need for a splinter guild.
If I have overstepped my boundaries with this reply, I dearly apologize!
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Hi Azylir! I’ll send you an invitation. We don’t have any repping requirements, so that’s perfectly fine. I don’t think I’ve ever been online where there hasn’t been someone else to chat with… It’s nice, because we have folks from both NA and EU, so the time difference makes it so there’s usually someone. Of course, you can’t guest across the NA/EU line, but at least they’re in guild chat.
Tarnished Coast is by far the most represented NA server, but guesting has made get-togethers quite easy. Welcome to the group!
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Just thought I’d pop in here and say thank you to everyone for everything. Playing GW2 and chatting with all of you is always one of the best parts of my day. :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
This is the best website, I highly recommend it to everyone. Took me forever to find it, too, so it’s a good idea you had to post it here!
I love that it gives all of the hard stats, but it also gives “Effective Power” and “Effective Health”, which is super helpful for figuring out where the tension between power/precision and vitality/toughness lays out. It makes it easy to directly compare the effect of any changes you make. I was able to come up with a much stronger gear setup using this tool.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@ Antarian | You underestimate our power… Of course there’s room for you! :] We’re usually chatting away in guild chat about some silly thing or another, but don’t get intimidated. When you log on, just say hello and jump right in! We might talk a lot, but we won’t talk over you… You can always join in.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@Bailey and windjackel | Welcome! I’ll make sure you both have invitations when I log on in just a moment.
@pptkrreg | I for one have no problem helping you out with your thesis – it sounds like a great idea! Feel free to interview me or whatever you need. I don’t think there would be a problem with you joining our guild and observing our antics… But I’ll wait for some more input from other guildies.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@blingbearer | PUGs can be nasty… Luckily, our guild is nicer! I haven’t done CM yet, but I’d be up for a run. Hit me up if you’re interested! I’ll hop ingame and make sure you have an invitation.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Shameless bump for this fabulous thread! :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Welcome!
@ niji | We do several dungeon runs, and we’re very welcome for first-timers. Most of us are perfectly fine with taking our time and answering questions. Guild chat is usually pretty hectic, so you’ll probably want to turn that off. Please do join our enjin site so that you know what’s going on… operationunion.enjin.com
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Welcome! :] I’ll go make sure that you’ve gotten invitations to our ingame guild.
@tfmmage | I’m not on IoJ, but I think we have several members that are… If you’re up for dungeons, though, you probably won’t lack for people to go with. There’s usually a group or two doing dungeons and fractals.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
This isn’t a bug… It is ANet’s way of making sure that people don’t cheat by unlogging or changing maps right as they’re about to die. They’ve acknowledged that maybe this isn’t the best way to solve the problem, but it didn’t sound like they were really planning on changing it. I don’t have a source, unfortunately, but I’ve read a few ANet responses on here.
As Tom said, the easiest way is to be level 80… The experience scales up a lot, which is part of the reason it takes about as long to get from 70-80 as it does to get from 60-70.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Hello everyone! I am back from the dead (once again) and hopefully for good. I look forward to meeting and catching up with everyone in game. :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
SHE’S BACK FROM THE DEAD! :]
Hello, everyone, and very sorry for my long absence. I don’t even know what it was, school has been crazy, and everything else in life has been crowding out my extra time. It’s weird, because this was only the first week of the quarter… Last quarter, I was playing frequently even through finals week.
In any case, I think these past two weeks have been somewhat of a fluke – I don’t expect to be this busy on a consistent basis. Sorry I haven’t even been popping in here to say hello – I thought about you all often… But only when I was in the car or something with no access to internet. xD
To all the new people | Welcome! I’m Aeleniel, and I’m on the Eredon Terrace server. If you need help with anything, please message me in-game, and I’ll help! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
And now I’ll hop online to make sure invites are up to date. Hope to see lots of you there! :]
EDIT: Invites are sent.

Hello everyone! Just checking after being preoccupied for a few days… Hope everyone is doing well and is looking forward to the new year. I’m going to try to get online tonight, so hopefully I’ll see some of you then! And welcome to all of the new faces. :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@Kit | Walmart = doom, for everything in absolutely every case. xD Also, sorry for not mentioning that I sent out invites. I was going to just hop online for a sec to do it, but then I ended up staying much longer and forgot what I was doing. Go figure!
In any case, we’re all caught up on invites, and welcome, welcome to everyone new! :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Guardian is better for PvE rushing. However, if you like ranged options, the Guardian is pretty lackluster. Correct me if I’m wrong, but my understanding is that Guardians are pretty good at being supportive while still focusing on offense, while the Thief skills don’t allow for that as much…
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
I really enjoy my Ranger. I usually run a condition damage shortbow build, and I find that it’s good combination of soloability and survivability, and being able to do fairly hefty damage in a group situation. I find that I’m usually the last one down in a group – you have the pet to take some of the aggro, which is nice. I’d say that Rangers aren’t a very good support class, but you said you’re looking to solo.
Engineers are fun, but you have to be pretty alert and plan your course of action well. You have to think about each encounter, and think about how you’re going to use it to your advantage. They seem squishier than Rangers, to me (probably part of that is because of the pet-aggro). They can play offense or they can also be a great support class. Engineers cannot weapon-swap.
I have played a Thief only briefly… The class mechanic is a little different than the rest – the focus is on resource (Initiative) management, instead of the cooldown management. I prefer cooldown over resource management, which is why I did not stick with the thief.
Does that help? :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@G | Hmm… I’m not sure about new year’s resolutions. I usually make at least a halfhearted one, but I don’t think I’m going to. I’ve been trying to be more open, honest, and understanding of others and myself, so perhaps my resolution will be to continue that into the next year and beyond! What about you? Any fancy resolutions?
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
I play a shortbow Ranger (almost level 80!) and I like it very much. I run a condition damage build, and do pretty well. Unfortunately for me, I hate the look of the legendary SB… We have opposite problems. Also, legendaries are an obscene amount of work – are you sure you want to go through all of that? If you want one, I would suggest picking the one that you know you like to use.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
If you see a resource node, it’s yours. Sometimes you’ll see other players mining ore nodes that are “expired” to you. So definitely no stealing there.
I don’t know exactly how XP and loot is calculated… But I haven’t run into any trouble. It seems that whoever gets a reasonable amount of damage on a monster gets the reward for it, and I don’t think it is diminished by “helpers”.
I have heard reports of you being more likely to get loot in very crowded areas if you are in a party. You probably have to do a certain percentage quota of the damage to get the credit… Partying helps meet the quota. Not usually a huge problem, though. And due to the level scaling mechanism, even in low-leveled areas, a level 80 can’t just waltz through and kill everything in sight.
In general, it is perfectly acceptable for players to jump right in and work on events, monsters, etc. together… and then split up the next moment. It’s all fair in GW2 – which I think is fantastic! The system isn’t perfect, but it works pretty darn well… Not much (if any) kill-stealing here.
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@akamon | I’m glad you like my new format! I’ve been trying to come up with something that’s organized, but that I like the looks of. Not that it really matters, but hey. I think I’ve found it! :]
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Warriors can be kind of boring. It depends. Also, what server are you on? What zones are you playing?
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@akamon | Your suggestion of asking in map chat where to go is the simplest, but best advice. Even though I’ve never really done WvW before, I know that I’m competent at following instructions. xD
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Welcome! What other MMOs have you played, and what classes have you enjoyed there?
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Well, I can’t speak for others, but I don’t see any problem with dungeon running with someone, as long as they meet the level requirements for the dungeon.
I’m a part of Operation: Union, a cross-server group of fun, supportive people who like to help others. We run dungeons fairly often – but we are not a dedicated dungeoneering guild. You should be able to find some people who are willing to go on dungeon runs with you, but it’s not scheduled, hyper-organized, etc. And we usually don’t try to run dungeons as fast as possible, we like to be able to take our time (for the most part). Pop in our thread and take a look around, fill out a join request if you’d like. We’re certainly better than the people who have been leaving you in the past (and I think we have a few Yak’s Bend members as well).

Engineers definitely require some thought/planning. Many people complain about many classes being underpowered… Engineers are fun, though!
Here is a guide that explores the pros/cons of each weapon, utility, and kit skill. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Engineer-In-Depth-PvP-Guide-Tips-and-Tricks
You have more than one character slot… Consider making one a PvP character, and another a PvE/dungeoneering character?
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
Merry Christmas, everyone! Enjoy this day – hopefully it will be more relaxing than stressful.
@Kallas | There isn’t a huge rush to get registered on the forum site… There’s still lots to participate in here in this thread and in-game!
Dynamics of Synergetics – DOS
@Catinka | My server, Eredon Terrace, always fares badly in WvW. I have heard that we aren’t “bad” – that we’re actually fair pretty well in individual battles… But that we lack the size and participation to actually compete. Eredon Terrace seems to be growing in size, though, so hopefully that will change! Also, I don’t mind being the underdog – it’s fun to try to “turn the tide.” I haven’t tried Fractals yet, and I’m not sure when the new updates are to be expected, but hopefully after they change the things they talked about in the last annoucement it will be much easier for you to find a Fractals group.
@Deekkru | Welcome! I’ll send you an invitation right now. Eredon Terrace is actually represented in the Legion of Honour (our group’s guild) pretty well! I can think of at least five very active, helpful players, and a few others as well. Eredon Terrace is my server, so if you need help, don’t hesitate to ask. My highest level character at the moment is a level 65ish Ranger. If you’re looking for higher level content, there are a few others that can help you out (and I’ll get there before too long!). It’s up to you whether you want to switch servers, but I think ET is a pretty decent server, and it’s growing. As I said to Catinka, though, ET usually does pretty bad in WvW, so that might sway your decision depending on how much you want to get in WvW. Also, nuttiness is fully appreciated! :]
@DEK | You play WvW on ET often, right? How is it? EDIT: I just read on the other forum that you switched servers, but can you still comment on how WvW was? xD

Buy some blue (fine) quality gear on the TP every ten levels… As Pinder said, the TP has basically everything for you need for just a few coppers per piece… And you can supplement with drops whenever you get some good things.
It’s too difficult to try to keep up with your level by crafting… Crafting costs too much money, which you don’t have at this point.
Save your karma for exotics.
