After loging out to change characters the game client returns the message “The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. […]” and refuses to go past the char selection screen.
First i thought its something affecting only one of my chars, but now that i attempted to go back on the original one, it turns out that i cant log in at all anymore, on none of my characters.
P.S: Port forwarded everything even though i know its not the issue, but alas it didnt change anything.
What I still don’t understand is how they accept the codes in first place as valid. Let people play in the New zone/masteries/revenant the first hours after lunch. And then revoke all those keys again without explanation whats oever. If those keys were invalid then they shouldnt work in the first place right?
My understanding is that the keys are valid numbers but were bought by fraudulent means – stolen credit cards for example. ArenaNet accepts the key because they have no way of knowing otherwise. It is only when the payment is refused by the bank (because the stolen credit card was reported and all purchases stopped) that ArenaNet would know. This is why it can take several days. It is not a wise decision to buy from a cheap source. You end up hurting everyone involved, including yourself, and the only ones who profit are the thieves.
This is extreme specualtion. Most of these sites use not more and not less than the cost difference between countries. Did you know that a game in Russia costs up to 80% less than in the EU?
Most of these keys were bought through perfectly valid means. Someone, somewhere bought them and then resold them on cheaper sites, and know what the funny thing is? This is not against the law. Its at best against the terms of service of certain companies.
The question as to why anet is screwing with the players might be as simple as “they are making less money”.
Sadly, the market is full with their example of mentally handicapped kittens who then go and try to hunt down such keys, because in their opinion getting absolutely no profit, negative media and people who will never want to have anything to do with not only guild wars 2 but ANYTHING anet and ncosft kittens out, is simply worth it.
Hope they will work hard to get as much hate as possible.
They already got me on the hype train with suspending people left and right without any form of notification. You know, because they are not always kittens, but when they are, they think they can do literally anything to their customers.

Whats better than let you get a taste of the expansion and then make you buy it for the higher price even if you were trying to avoid it at first.
The scam could run deeper than we expect. Could very well be Anet leaking those keys on purpose.
They can die where they are.
This is what I got as an answer for my issue from customer service:
“Hello,
I’m sorry but we cannot assist with this request as the code in question was purchased from an unauthorized reseller. I can only recommend that you request a full refund from them. If they are not willing to assist you, please get help from your financial institution for reclaiming the funds from this unauthorized reseller.
Further replies regarding this issue may not receive a response."
I would like to get a reason, notice, something official that states like “key you purchased was illegal” so I can contact paypal and start process getting my cash back. So far I have gotten nothing about that. Only action Anet has made is that they have downgraded my game account without any notice. It’s Anet’s system that accepted the key in first place.
PayPal has no refund on digital products
More like Anet has just lost a nice amount of customers.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you have any evidence to support your claims when historically we’ve been told that the people who ran into issues with key resellers were sold a fraudulent key? The problem with the ArenaNet direct selling seems to be an issue with bank communication (charge backs or fraud alerts). They’ve historically been very good about emailing you about suspensions so the current issues with notification seem to be the exception rather than the rule, so I would encourage you to contact them.
As i have said, i did contact them. They were oblivious to the issue, and since i have some friends with similar experiences, im only saying the most logical thing here.
@Aerensiniac.3584, this thread was specifically about key resellers (such as Kinguin), not the other issue that ArenaNet is having with their own digital purchases at this time.
Both are the result of the same issue. Thats all there is to it.
Also: Its doubtful that this is an “oversight”. This is simply Ncsoft and Anet’s attitude.
It would be an oversight if they were aware of the issue, but as it stands i have to instruct support about what is happening, so afak they are completely unaware.
Logically this means that they have a system in place banning and suspending people left and right, not only not noticing the players about it, but the support either.
Not even EA has this much cancer under its hood, and they copied steam just to prevent others from making money off of their games.

Fraudulent keys can be activated, unfortunately, and then later banned/removed from an account.
Excuse me there for a moment, what the hell do you exactly mean by “Fraudulent key”?
If a key is bad, then it wont activate. Whats the point of using keys if anybody can just type in anything at random?
What you are implying here is that i can log onto gw, insert a random code and it will simply unlock everything for me, till someone notice that the key is well… “made up”.
We are talking here about keys which were bought one way or another cause otherwise they would not activate in the first place.
The reality of the question is that this is nothing more than Ncsoft and Anet’s way of screwing with the player base because having a key doesnt mean a kitten thing in their eyes, they need to know who bought it, when, where, why, and if your bank account or credit card number can be divided by 2 then its “suspicious” and instantly revoked/suspended till some kittener sitting in ncsoft’s basement decides at random whether or not it will get enabled.
Let me tell you straight: Im playing mmos since 15 years, and i have never met a bigger mountain of **** than here with this joke of an account management and support service.
I mean for crying out loud, they are SUSPENDING people who bought the game DIRECTLY FROM THEM THROUGH THEIR OWN GOD kitten SITE.
It wont get any more mentally impaired than that.
If Anet and Ncsoft have no need for players and think that they can do **** like this, then they are on a good track, because if i have thrown away that money, then this was the last time both of these companies have seen any money from me.

Me and two other people in my guild are all having the same problem.
We all bought it from g2play too. If it was a fraudulent key and Arena Net has downgraded us it would be really nice for them to inform us. Just say – yes you’ve been downgraded, it’s not a glitch. Then we can start getting in contact with the reseller to try and recoup our losses.
But until ANet confirms what has happened to our accounts we are really just stuck waiting.
No matter what their issue with our codes are, there is no company out there which revokes, suspend and downgrades accounts WITHOUT A GOD kitten NOTICE.
At this point, im getting more and more sure that both these companies deserve to die off of the market. People who seemingly think they are some sort of deity and can do whatever the hell they want, do not belong in today’s world.

Still no answers for any of us, however the bug section for in-game users is live and kicking.
Shows exactly where we stand, they have our money and we have hit the back burner for now.
Its kinda the reason why i replied to support that im not gonna wait 3 weeks for this issue to be fixed. I give it a couple of days. 2 maybe 3, then they got one less customer who will ever spend a dime anything associated with anet or ncsoft.

Ok, i see the forums, lots of folks have the same problem i am having, so my question is
what is being done about it, any news on that front.. has it been acknowledge that there is a problem with a fix on the way,
I have no problem waiting, but need to know is it being looked into????
Well, support sent me an email asking if i had restarted the game….
After meditating half an hour over the concept of “you cant be THIS stupid” i copy pasted my first letter in again, once again explaining that not even the site is registering my account upgrade anymore.
So other than “is your device plugged in” kind of messages, afak nothing is being done, because it seems this is not enough of a priority issue.
That being said, they have a few days, then im going to have the money refunded and with that im done with both guildwars and Ncsoft.
Im not leaving money at a company which screws with people’s money and time like this and cant even be bothered as much as to send a notice or justification as to why they are screwing with our accounts.
CAN WE HAVE THE ACCOUNT ISSUES COMMENTED ON ALREADY? THERE ARE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE WHO HAD THEIR ENTIRE FRIKIN EXPANSION REMOVED WITHOUT NOTICE AND/OR JUSTIFICATION AS TO WHY

It’s not NCsoft, like is said it’s the credit card processing company they use I think it’s called Playnix or something like that. There are other game distributors that use the same credit card processing service this is the norm in a lot of online transaction if there is the slightest issue with a card it may get declined also I think by law the card processing service can decline the transaction as much as 72 hours after the perchase.
Btw i bought it from retail, so Ncsoft didnt even as much as see my credit card.
You can twist this around as much as you like, but what you are saying is something that would block you from getting a code.
All of us here already bought AND ACTIVATED a code. The system then rolled back the change (or so it seems) deleting our account upgrade.
This is not a credit card issue since its already deeper within the system.
And finally: Alas i couldnt give less of a kitten about why or how they do it.
I literally dont care because im one of their customers and not their accountant, lawyer or book keeper.
They should be aware that playing with people’s time and money like this is equal to playing with their own frikin existence on the market. What does anyone expect from a publisher/devteam which cant even keep its frikin webpage together?

Have you resantly did a charge back on the card you perchased the game with, your credit card account can get red flagged if you do a charge back. The card processing services NCSoft uses is really strict any issues with your card like charge back or reporting fraudulent activity in your card gets red flagged and can make it tough for you to use that card online check your statment did they charge your card.
NCsoft can go and die with its strict system. Literally. If a company is mentally set back enough to screw with its customers in such a manner, it does not deserve to be on the market. I couldnt give less of a kitten about their reasons for doing it.

Exactly the same issue, I’m super annoyed.
Considering this is my field of business and I work a large studio I do not take lightly to this oversight.
This is a utter disaster for a handful of us!
You gotta acknowledge it tho, it must be an amazing piece of coding if it cant even register one blasted piece of code properly.
Reminds me on the C64 era…. maybe next time we get a syntax error message….
Can we have a god kittening response on account issues where the already activated expansion simply vanishes?

Im astonished about ArenaNet’s gall tho. For a game that just went f2p because they are losing players that badly, they seem to think they can mess with people’s wallets directly and dont even have to as much as send a note about it.
Here i am with what is basically fraud for they have taken the money and didnt give anything in return, but they are taking their kitten time to as much as acknowledge that something is amiss.

Yes I have the same when I fired up the launcher it seemed normal but when I got ingame everything HoT related was disabled and my key was revoked from my account.
Masteries are unlocked only after completing the first HoT story instance. So that’s not a good indication…
The story is locked for me and it tells me to buy, so….
I redeemed my product code onto my account just yesterday. Everything was hunky dory at first. My account recognized the upgrade and when the content released, I had access to my class’s new elite specialization and got the flag for the new storyline, etc.
Today upon logging in: Everything is gone and the game tells me to buy the expansion.
In essence: you downgraded my account overnight and failed to post me any notifications of anytype or sort of it.
Funniest thing is: 33 minutes ago i got 2 ingame mails with some bonus stuff cause i was a good sport and bought the thing, while apparently i no longer even have it.

Exact, EXACT same issue. Word after word.
We have tried wiping, we have tried kicking the guy who has lost the hammer, we have tried to leaving one person on the map, we have tried everything we could think of.
The hammer is goan.
Some people are really begging to be fired from their jobs at Anet.
Once again i’ve been in fractals for 2 hours.
Once again we get the colossus map as the third map
Once again someone chooses to fall down with the hammer before the very last seal
Once again its gone from the entire god kitten map
Once again we have to leave the entire game and quit all the progress we’ve made.
2 kittening hours wasted
I kept on reporting this bug for a while now, so let me just ask it this way:
Do you have any god ****ing idea how much frustration this one single item causes to your players?
If you cant be bothered to write the god kitten ed script right, then at least put in spare hammers to the bottom level so the game wont fail completely.
And please provide something for me to break because it takes all of my restraint to not send everyone on the development team to hell and back verbally. God kitten it.

Random people, but i fail to see your point. Do you seriously want to imply that 30 ppl randomly doing events cant pull the same kitten 1 person is doing on a table basis?
In theory 30 ppl doing just 1 single event each 10 minutes would amount to multiple times the event completion of a single player, and trust me: They do not do 1 event.
The argument that 1 person can set off tier 3 is mathematically kittened.

Really… so do you need to cross your fingers on logging in? Because not being able to access a vendor due to a badly designed system is on par with that. Or being able to use a skill, or having your stats do what they are supposed to do.

Yes, and im telling you that 20-30 people are present at dry top all the time, yet tier 4 is next to never achieved, so i dont know what realm and with what rates the ppl you are referring to are working, but on Desolation 20-30 ppl barely pull Tier 3
I went to Dry Top this afternoon to get the achievements from Waypoint Conundrum, and when I entered the zone, it was in the middle of a Tier 4 sandstorm.
If I can just up and walk into the zone at Tier 4, it’s way too early to say that the zone is dead.
Compare your 0 effort to my 13 hours and you can easily come up with the conclusion that your realm is more active on that map, or that you were hell of lucky.
Someone posted that you only need like 20-30 people to get to tier 4/5.

T4? You have to go duo for that one. One of you take the path: Tendril A, Serene, Inquest mine. The other should go for Tendril B, Inquest boss, Light golem, Ley line.
He is either trolling, bsing or their server instance is bugged (or mine is).
I estimate that there are 20-30 ppl roaming the map at average on my server, but even t3 wont come easily, so the notion that you can solo it is mental.
I have been doing quests based on the quest timers, and there is no way in frikin hell, i could pull off t3 alone or t4 with two people.
I can only repeat myself.
Either there is a bug on either his or my realm, or he is flat out BSing. One way or another, what he is claiming is not true.
And the likelihood you’ll be in the right place and right time for it is slim at best.
And with that you have expressed the very issue.
This is not a 2 year old world of warcraft instance/raid that can be redone for the achievement. This is a barely a month old ongoing event with a criteria that will be impossible to fulfil unless you “happen to be in the right place and right time”.
What kind of explanation is that anyway? Right place and time? What is this, a lottery?
Also: To get to tier 4 you would require at least 50 players doing events all over the map. Now tell me about a guild which is willing to do that when they do not need anything from there. It wont happen.
The grind factor on these weapons is high, combined with the addition Tier based strain on the recipes, the chance of ANYONE EVER redoing this, is near zero.
When you add that it would take 50-100 ppl to pull it off, it becomes bs.
Eventually Dry Top might need guilds to get up the numbers. Nothing wrong with that.
Except there are no guilds, no players, no nothing.
The attendance of dry top events has declined to the point where its near impossible to reach Tier 4.
I have waited for roughly 13 hours before i could get out 1 single ambrite weapon recipe and i will need 1-2 more as i progress with insects.
Something needs to be done because within the next 2-3 days it will become absolutely impossible to obtain ambrite recipes.
With all due of respect… maybe you should hire someone who clarifies messages you put in the game?
I have tried to get into this event since start and all i ever get are these “not attacking this world” messages in red, while the white one insists that they are attacking.
Some in chat claim it already finished (in which case i have absolutely NO idea why the white text insists, its still active), while others say its due to the overflow.
So like, i have waited it out. Left overflow when prompted. The result:
The VERY SAME message of the attack being underway, but not cause scarlet’s minions are not attacking this world.
Since the Anet messages obviously make not the slightest amount of sense, and im slowly getting the living hell irritated out of me, could someone clarify what the hell is going on?
