I ran around 140ish fractals and reached level 21 before I got my first vial of mists essence to drop. Since the first vial dropped I have completed about 20 more fractals and reached level 23 and found 3 additional vials in this time.

Edit: Note this was before the changes to when the vial of mists dropped in the patch.

I’m curious how this is actually intended to be done at higher levels (say 20+). I know the tactic at the moment is to only kill mobs on one side, so that the other side stays easy, but this seems a bit exploitative.

So it would be be interesting to know how the hell the developers intended for people to beat this stage without using that exploit, because to me it seems literally impossible otherwise.

I must have looted 2-3 exotic and loads of rare rings and amulets, but annoyingly they are all soulbound on aquire, which means I cant sell them, cant give them to alts, and cant even salvage them for ecto. I am now really disappointed whenever I pick up an exotic amulet.

I opened my black lion chests as I played through my character a long time ago. As a result, I have a ton of tonics sitting in my bank, but no mystery tonics. Would it be possible to put a mystic forge recipe in the game to transmute the older tonics into mystery tonics, so I can then transmute them for halloween chests?

It would need to come soon I suppose, but would be very much appreciated.

Seriously? I have to go into WvW to get 100% explorer?

Sometime when you come out of a dungeon, you will be in no elemental attunement.
Gust doesn’t work properly when you are running/kiting
Static field doesn’t seem to deal damage
Mist form doesn’t make you invulnerable.

New players avoid Elementalist.

I am having a lot of fun playing an elementalist. I woulndt change it.
I dont mind not being the most powerful class, but I have kicked out of parties or not invited into dungeons because of the perception that my class is weak and that makes me really sad.

I am level 80 2/3 thorugh getting end game gear.
My recommendation is to stack offensively as possible (Power, Precision, Crit Dmg) on every single item.
30 in 1 or both of fire/air
but then make all three utility skills defensive: I choose Mist form, Arcane shield, Cleansing fire.
The uitlity skills should more than compensate for the total lack of health and toughness, and you would probably need to learn to equip and use them anyway to survive in dungeons. I think I am better off going full glass cannon spec..

This is getting old.

Forgot to add one:
I’d like to see the earth spell magnetic aura as a utility spell rather than a weapon one. It is really helpful in defence but you can only use it effectively if you are already in earth attune which most people aren’t, since obviously you have to switch attunements then cast it to activate, at which point you have already been hit by the projectile,

Disheartened pve woes

The play time on my ele is 241 hours. I have died 559 times.
I honestly didnt feel I had problems in pve and didn’t realise people were having them until I started looking online.
I really don’t like the growing perception people are starting to get that elementalist are too weak to run dungeons with – this has been a problem for me at level 80. I don’t mind it in tournaments where people want a perfectly balnced team or w/e but it gets really disheartening when it spills over into pve.

Is it just me, or do the downed abilities suck?

I really like the mistform one in PvE
In PvP I would say they are not so good, but then I don’t enjoy the downed state mechanic in pvp at all.
I would very much like a “kill yourself” option in the downed state, because I think you are doing less good on the ground than you would be starting the timer for a respawn.
I have seen this exploited in some pvp matches where if you lose a battle, the enemy player/s will stand around capturing the point then only finish you off when it has been captured, so long as they still have you targeted and know that your hitpoints aren’t getting too high.

This is getting old.

Well I’m not an expert. I play as a staff elementalist at lvl 80 and am half geared with exotics. I have only got about 10 ranks in pvp but my suggestions for staff anyway are:

1. Change some of the channelled skills so that you can cast them while moving, such as Healing Rain and Meteor storm (Not neccesarily change cast times, just make it so you don’t have to stand still)
2. Add some damage effect on top of spells which otherwise only deal with status, such as: Gust, Frozen ground, Flameburst, Cleansing flames
(I think they did this with all of the signets after one of the betas)
3. Make fire walls (and earth walls and walls in general) deal much more straight up damage)

This is getting old.

I just want to say that I actually don’t think the elementalist needs a huge buff at all. Just a slightly smoother skill curve. I would be the first to admit that I’m not exactly the most skilled elementalist around, but I really don’t feel I should have to prove myself to other people and I dont like by being judged in the first few encounters of a dungeon, where this doesn’t seem to happen with other classes.

Again to re-iterate – I do not have a problem with burning or how it operates.

I do have a problem with too many abilities causing the burning effect.
My proposed solution is not to change the way burning operates, but to change some of the abilities that inflict burning to just deal damage straight up instead

I was in a party the other day with another elementalist, and part way through the dungeon he was kicked out by other members, the excuse being: “We obviously don’t want to waste our money carrying 2 elementalists through here”.
I left the dungeon myself after that.
I have also been rejected from joining beforehand because I was an elementalist.
This is really really sad – I don’t want this situation to last very long so that it becomes engrained into the games culture permanently. Seeing the patch notes complete ignoring or even nerfing the elementalist makes me very sad.

In return for only stacking in duration, burning does more damage than a stack of bleeding. So while you can stack bleeding in intensity, you need to have more stacks of it and ends up being more like a traditional DoT. Burning does decent damage in my opinion.

I’m not complaining about burning as a whole – I think it is fine. It’s just that way too many of the skill have it as an effect (often it is the only damage not just a bonus) and for something which does only stack duration this isn’t a good thing.

The elementalists util skills, traits, sand even signets found on thier equipment add too many burning skills to the game, and since burning stack duration rather than intesity this is makes them a little UP.
Utils like Cleansing fire should deal regular damage rather than just add burns.
