In the limited time I’ve tried druid in WvW, it’s been pretty pleasing if not a little over the top with the healing theme. While I enjoy the play style of the druid, there are a few things I would like to give my feedback on.
- That glyph range has got to be bigger. I find most of them not worth taking in either form because the 300 range seems so limiting. 600 would be great, but I think 450 would be more reasonable.
- Do we really need to lose all our astral energy (is that what it’s called?) when we leave cele form? I was kinda hoping that it would function more like death shroud where we could enter before it was full, leave without losing all the energy, and possibly sustain a little of it while in the form similar to the DS #4 skill when we heal.
- It seems next to impossible to build up astral energy when using any weapon other than staff unless I use Troll Unguent. Intended? If so, that’s fine in my opinion. Just more of an observation.
- Is it possible to add inconsequential damage to a couple of the heal skills in cele form simply for the purpose of event tagging?
- Props for the bristleback and the smokescale. They are so much fun.
Just adding my feedback even though it is pretty much redundant.
The function gyro (especially considering it is supposed to be our new mechanic) is pretty worthless.
- A majority of the times I tried to use it, it seemed confused, the pathing was off, or couldn’t complete a stomp.
- The time it takes to stomp seems to be twice as long as a normal stomp, which wouldn’t be that much of an issue if it lived long enough to do its job or had inherent stability so it wouldn’t turn into a golf ball. I would prefer if my elite mechanic worked instead of turning the field of battle into a driving range.
- Although I do pvp and given some fixes the F gyro would be fine there, I do agree with people who are saying it’s usefulness is pve is sorely lacking. The couple of times I tried to rez with the F gyro have been utter failures. The need to find your ally in the thick of all the particle effects and other players running around makes it incredibly hard to use. If it could function more like the ranger “Search and Rescue” skill it may find some more use as long as it could stay alive, actually find its target, and not take twice as long to do the job.
I feel until these and a few other issues listed in previous posts are addressed, this mechanic that should be defining our new elite specialization is more of an elite wreck than an elite spec.
As far as everything else goes, I feel the hammer is in a good spot. The second leap on rocket charge can be wonky but I haven’t had as many issues with it as others have. The traits seem to be alright as well. Maybe a little tuning, but overall acceptable.
However, the gyros…need help.
- What good is the sneak gyro if I outrun it 90% of the time and lose stealth?
- Why would I take the medic gyro instead of HT if it can’t keep up with me? Unless you really really wanted to heal that ambient creature you just ran by a few seconds ago.
- What good are any of the offensive gyros if they can’t find their target, or worse yet simply die to more than one person dropping AoE on it right after it spawns?
I will say this though. The toolbelt skills related the gyros are fantastic. They may not be master race worthy, but if fixes are made to the gyro AI and survivability they really compliment the hammer.
I understand it is a little too late to “redo” the gyros, but the suggestions earlier about making them signets or equivalent to the Herald facets (hey, they are both elite specs, right?) could solve most of the issues we are having.
I would agree with Arioso. An an engi, you really do need your traits in order to make your kits do what they are supposed to do. Engi is definitely not a brute force class. We will never be like a warrior, “Guys, I hit my greatsword 2 skill and the whole map is dead now.” We can kill, but we do it with style. The thing I love about my engineer is I can do so many things with it. However, in order to do any of those things, specialization into traits, skills, and gear is needed.
In my own experience, I’ve found that FT and Bomb Kit do the most damage when you are leveling and have no to minimal trait lines unlocked and no other way to really supplement your damage. Before you get to 21 and then 45, look ahead on the wiki, see what the traits do, see what kits you think you might want to use. Spend your hero points toward those trait lines and skills so when the time comes that you can unlock them they are set to go.
As Frightlight said, if you see me online, give me a pm. A lot of us are more than willing to help.
Random thought driving home after a long day at work…
GW2 Engineers are a lot like the engineers (yes, the crafting profession) from WoW.
1. The goggles get all the ladies.
2. You’re not sure why you do it other than some underlying masochistic tendency you never knew you had.
3. Sometimes you build something, whether it be a 100nades build with a perfect set of gear or Nitro Boosts and it blows up in your face or gets nerfed.
4. The toys make it worth the trouble. Come on, who doesn’t like flamethrowers, really kitten loud motorcycles, and shooting rockets out of your belt.
5. All your friends keep asking you why in the flying kitten you chose this as your profession and why you haven’t moved on to something else yet.
6. You listen to your friends and try other things but keep coming back to your engineer because everything else just seems so kitten boring.
7. Yes, it has its problems, but you just don’t care because you have so much kitten fun with it.
8. The goggles get all the ladies.
Did I forget anything?
Engineers unite! Anyone else an engineer and proud of it? Yes, it has its problems, but I just don’t care because I have so much kitten fun with it.
Let’s hear some stories about blowing things up while rockin’ the goggles, whether it be yourself off of Dalaran or some punk invader off the cliff in your borderland. This here engineer forum needs a little less serious and a little more engineer.

I agree that there’s no true wilderness in the game where you’re truly alone.
I would love to see some HUGE open-world PvE zone where there’s a constant threat. Places like these add excitement, thrill, and adventure to the game, whereas at the moment, there’s no actual threat in GW2 open-world at the moment.
Example:
Far Shiverpeaks
- One giant open-world zone
- Few ‘safe spots’, villages, towns, outposts, etc…
- Way-points only at the start of the zone, thus there’s a threat of loosing your progress if you die.
- A looming threat, such as large packs of svanir/icebrood hunters, and/or a blizzard mechanic similar to the Snowblind fractal in which you’d have to find safety or perish during frequent storms.
- Thick forested scenery to prevent vision, massive mountains and glaciers.
- When night-time, vision could be restricted similar to Snowblind fractal.
- Special/increased loot, such as an increased chance to find corrupted lodestones, or maybe new rare loot.
This zone would be an open-world PvE zone designed to be an adventurous, dangerous zone, and would encourage people to group together with guildies or pugs in order to survive.
+1 sir. I love the idea of having to take shelter during a squall or something of the sort. Also, a dark/night zone would be very freaking cool. My flamethrower would finally have a use, even if it is just lighting the path.
The first question I have is what part of the game are you most focused on? PvE? WvW? Something else?
This is how a dragon boss fight should look like. Sorry A-net but OP is right. The world boss fight are very … meh.

after fights like this, all players will say" Man I really “worked” for that reward chest" not like beating a world boss in 5 min.
Watching this and then fighting Teq just makes me sad. Everyone just ignores the tendrils and who even remembers there is a bonewall? The adds just get cleaved down from everyone spamming AoE since it is somehow more efficient than single target spells against single targets.
Call me sadistic, but I loved those out of the way places where you had to work and fight to get there. The first place that came to mind for me was (upcoming WoW reference, forgive me) Silithus. You step out of that Cenarion camp on the hill and it was just you and the road, so to speak. Then, a little more thought and I remember “expeditions” through either Snake Dance or old Lornars to go cap FoC from Maw the Mountain Heart in Dreadnoughts. I may be in the minority as far as this game goes, but to have a zone that has no waypoints, that you have to fight through an entire other zone to get to just to hang out in, would make me all tingly inside.
Are you a warrior? Are you using Signet of Rage?
