If you like pvp gj I guess, you used the build everyone else is using better than they have i guess is what it means.

As far a build are concerned, i seriously believe, mad martini’s build or valnor build (Rifle/ bow) should be meta.

Where can these builds be found? Been a while since I played, curious what the build looks like.

Would you be open to Biracial NPCs?

In windows, make the gaming monitor the ‘first’ monitor, the ‘main’ monitor the second. It’s the easiest solution, otherwise you’ll have this problem happening with most of the games.

It’s mostly a rookie mistake on your end, I only played a handful of games that allowed me to change the display monitor from within the game itself.

I don’t see anything inherently wrong with it, but you went into a group situation where a warrior has amazing group buff skills called banners. You took no banners at all, which might’ve been the issue? I didn’t always use banners myself though, but some people could be anal about it.

You went into a team, offering nothing except that one shout to help your party out and of course your dps.

Just an official “hey players, we know it’s bugged, we’re working on it and rewards will be served once the fix is out. Thank you for your understanding” would be great. 3 weeks into HoT, you’d expect a fix would be here already.

Map completion still not fixed.

I started a Revenant with the HoT launch, because I wanted to try the class out, finished Verdant Brink on it, liked it, got reward.

Went on to my main Warrior, finished Verdant Brink, no reward.

In the meanwhile I already finished HoT story and all 4 maps with my Revenant, because I can’t get rewards with my main! (she has 100% completion on core maps, if that info is needed). This is the third week of HoT and still no fix for this? This should’ve been fixed already, must be annoying the hell out of a lot of people.

No answer on my support ticket either (granted, I was a bit livid at the time, but tried to keep it civil).

This so far messes up a second gift of maguuma (not that they are an absolute must, but better to have them) and a vital item to finish my berserker collection. I refuse to clear any more of HoT on my main, simply because I need to know if rewards will be given out or not!

More importantly, is it more than 5? 5 takes… 90 events for a 480 amount of blooms, which is all day every day of the event — with no other rewards (no gold, exp, karma, random drops)

When I saw that reward, and saw that everyone who was able to get one on my map and when browsing through the forum… I decided to give up on this event. Barely any reward, if you want to farm it, countless gold would be wasted on teleporting around with no small compensation from events (at least SW gives you exp/karma/silver!). The mobs not dropping anything is stupid, but I understand it, seems similar to the way they handled things in SW. But for the love of god, if the mobs don’t drop anything, at least give exp reward and some bonus for each event like SW/Dry Top does!

Eventually, Anet will have to reduce the price to -20 dollars (PAY to VETERAN PLAYERS ONLY) + character slots + some amount of gems + some bank tab/crafting bank/character bag slots + a separate copy of CORE, then charge new players 100 dollars for Core, and 50 for HoT.

Then this will stop, I deleted my wall text earlier because I know someone will get bottom-hurt and start name calling. Thank you all for complaining and keep it going, because I really want more free stuff that I didn’t ask for.. but hey, free is good

No, I’m pretty sure most people would be happy if they just dropped the price to 20 dollars for people who own the game already. They don’t even need to give a character slot imo. And keep the 50 dollars bundle for newcomers.

They’re just talking bullkitten in the community address. They’re saying HoT isn’t stand-alone, not like the campaigns of the previous game (Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall) were. It’s like Eye of the North, which they called an expansion. Well guess what, those campaigns cost the same each time, which was about 40ish (?) at launch, because they were stand-alone. Eye of the North however, was way less, 20 dollars, just because you already needed one of the previous campaigns before you could play this one. There were packs out there in which you could a campaign + EotN. Those cost more, because it included ‘base’ + ‘expansion’.

50 dollars for a half of the maguuma jungle and some extra story quests is not worth the price of a full game at all. Going to compare to EotN again… We got a whole bunch of extra maps, 18 dungeons, heaps of skills, extra heroes,… for 20 dollars.

No.. I’m pretty sure if Anet PAYS players to keep playing HoT would be the best solution. *(this is sarcasm)

EOTN was 40 dollars (iirc, its been quite the while, i am not entirely convinced that its 20 bucks). If you wait a year or two, while most people have finished the game got all the items and dlc (questionable but it should have some), you can probably buy the game for 20 dollars or less. Up to you man.

I use to buy 5 oranges for 1 dollar… why am I paying 1 dollar for 2 now a days….
lets not compare the 4.25 minimum wage of the 90s to today’s 8.75 dollars.
Why can’t I buy a bmw m3 anymore for $37,000.00… its possible in the 90s?
I am just suggesting a few ideas why its not 20 dollars, but its just what I think…

I’d say 40 is a very good price for the expansion alone with NOTHING extra added on, again my opinion. They are asking $50.

40 dollars of 2007 is pretty close to the 50 of 2015… I am not saying its perfectly fine.. but its not catastrophic either.

Just checked my boxed edition (I still have it, was about to throw the boxes out) and it was a pre-order, so I had it the second it was launched. I paid 20 euros (rounded up). 40ish was the price of the campaigns. Game prices, at least for pc, haven’t gone up that much, at least not in stores, online they did, 40 then seems like 50 now. But 20 then seems like 25 now to me.

Also, with what little content they seem to have shown us, I wouldn’t be surprised if most people finish it in 2 months, slacking. Except the real high-end stuff which most of the casual players won’t reach.

After over a year of hardly playing this game anymore, just some playing during events and after a bigger patch, I’m sick of this. I already had some downtime before this year, but nothing was getting added, or it was very little / really slow. It was just vanilla game for months after months… the living story brought some extra life, but seeing as a lot of that content wasn’t permanent (especially in the first one, the second one was ‘repeatable’), it wasn’t that appealing to me.

So I was waiting patiently for this expansion, I knew it was coming (but kitten it took ages), but this price is just insane. As Anet compared it (and I did in another topic)… This is an expansion, can be compared with something like Eye of the North. EotN was priced 20 dollars at launch, because you needed one of the 3 previous campaigns. HoT is priced at 50 dollars, which was the price of a newly launched FULL game/campaign.
And to top it off, HoT seems to bring little extra so far, or very little is known. EotN had about 75% of a full campaign to it (I might be exaggerating a bit, but 18 dungeons, storylines, heroes, exclusive content weaponry,…).

So yes, the price is still bullkitten, and Anet and especially the ‘veterans’ justifying have the same common sense as a banana has. None. Justifying 50 dollars for an expansion (and woohoo, a character slot…) is insane. By cheering Anet on for this action and buying into their stupid schemes, you’re encouraging them to do worse. Keep on encouraging it, I’m outta here, might pick the game up for sale at 10 dollars if ever, but they’re not worth this kitten.

It’s sad to see a great company for their community turn to this greedy idiotic company over the course of a few years.

This is just a stupid, kittened decision. I just thought about playing the game again after a few months (only logged in to get the LS activated), due to events, more free time and general boredom. This was completely fine! I can understand it might’ve been confusing for new people at first, but we all were new people at one point and all got used to it. It’s not rocket science.

This actually makes me doubt playing again, might seem like a stupid reason, but the fact I could get the exact amount I needed to buy something was great. Now that’s ruined. Wonder what else they’re going to ruin?

The attached picture to show you the messed up font. I know this has been mentioned several times and I’ve seen posts dating back to the headstart of the game, even mentioning that the problem was being dealt with.

A year after release and the BLTC/TP is still messed up when playing on a small font, which is really annoying, prices are difficult to see, if you want to use it, you have to go into your settings each time to switch the UI to at least normal if you want to actually read without straining your eyes.

Is there any news on the progress of this problem? Can it be fixed in the near future?

I’m shocked some people actually spend gems on those RNG boxes during each event, then cry on the forums.

It’s been exactly the same ever since Halloween boxes were introduced.

This. Also, these are just skins (or minis) that you’re looking for, sure some of them are pretty cool, but what do you expect? These chests are not going to have a 10% drop rate, that really wouldn’t make any sense. There are only 3 ways that I can think of them doing this:

1) like they did in gw1, where you had a 0.1% chance for a drop after a 20-30 min dungeon or a particular hard boss. I really just want to try to inform people of how some things used to be

“Players have estimated absurdly low to be less than 0.02%, which has been confirmed to be “fairly close.”"
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Miniature_Polar_Bear

2) The system they use now, which is the rnd boxes (which you can get for free from drops or use in game gold)

3) just buy the skin directly from the store.

1 only rewards the people that have the time to grind
3 only rewards the people who have spare money
2 at least gives options to both people (and they apparently make lots of money this way too)

Heck since launch I’ve only spent $10 on gems. It is the same thing as playing the lottery, no one is forcing you to play or spend your real money, and at least you get a (albeit bad) consolation prize. Spending money in gw2 does not guarantee anything. You could open 200 chests and not get anything, that’s part of the random chance.

Can’t really say I agree with 2 being a combination of 1 and 3. Call me a fanboy, but 1 gave you a special holiday repeatable quest in a dungeon, where you got appropriate loot, being candy, booze and party items useable for titles, which was the other major part people were looking to achieve besides the skins they wanted.
With this event, there’s no extra content where this takes place, we need to enter the same maps we’ve seen since August, maps where 0 changes have been made to (pretty ‘living’ world, right?), to kill mobs and hologram spawns. There’s no additional reward to it besides grey junk which is useless, pretty much every world drop besides rares/exotics/crafting items are vendor trash. The only places which have a small chance of producing a valuable item (lodestone or T6 material) are being camped by people wanting to farm the boxes. There’s no fun or variation available to make money here, if you at least want to gain something. GW was totally different, there was a major money maker, but there were loads of ways of doing it AND you had other ways which were enjoyable and made you enough money to help you on your track for titles, your wanted skins, etc…
There’s nothing in THIS game that makes titles worth going for, hell, most of the players don’t even bother with the nonsense titles as nobody even sees them, there’s no achievement in most of the titles.

this is riddiculous…
i just dropped 4000 gems for these crates and not one skin.

The chances for a skin should not be that low.

That is 50€ for some candy…
Screw this!

It’s kittened, but then again, the chance of it dropping is always unknown to us. For all we know, it might be 25% and you were just extremely unlucky. Just pointing that out, I do believe it’s a lot lower and it’s complete BS that they’re persistent with these RNG gifts. But unfortunately, it’s people who keep buying them and then complain about the droprate that shows them they should keep selling the chests to make money.

Edited to add: Some temporary content may also appear again in the future in other story lines, events, or even find permanent homes as the world continues to change.

I’ve yet to see content being added permanently. Sure, we’ve got Southsun Cove (which is pretty useless, and this update should get things going on that map) and Fractals, but other than that, every content that has been released was temporary. Obviously holiday-related things shouldn’t stay, I completely agree on that part, but Living Story was being built up for months, only to demolish everything it brought in during the last 2 weeks of this story. We’ll keep the cosmetics, but the playable content will all disappear. I just hope the future will finally add some more permanent content, because it’s getting pretty dull seeing the same things over and over and over…

P2W in other MMOs = pay to be on top, while in GW2, P2W= pay to be the first on top. And the “convenience” is a word invented by A-Net to replace the P2W as invented renown hearts to replace the kill 10 rats concept, and the scouts instead of the quest log,
They just hired a psychologist to invent words to distract people from the real thing.
Other MMOs are based on gear so that is the general idea of what a P2W is, so people think that of the endgame.
The endgame in GW2 is based on grinding skins to look better, so all they have in the shop is going around that philosophy.
Even the “we don’t think grinding is fun” from their Manifesto has turned out to be a false statement while everything in the game is based on grinding.
Look at this, you cant even finish your storyline like in a normal single player $60 game without grinding between levels.

Uhhhh. are you serious? Convenience was not a word “invented” by anet, having a flashy resource gathering tool does not put you “on top” of anything, and while it’s NOT a single player, you can for sure finish the story without grinding.

Even if you have to grind up a few levels it takes like an evening. If you’re lazy. You ever played final fantasy? Did you know you have to grind up levels before you can advance the story in that too?

How am I even supposed to pretend to take this seriously?

This.

I can’t even think what the big fuss is about ‘grinding levels’ to advance in your storyline. Levelling is very smooth, just walking around gives you exp (if you find a new zone), whereas in a lot of other games you do have to ‘grind’ to advance in your personal story.

Most of the MMO’s I’ve played, had a personal storyline in it, and it was ALL tied to your level. You had to kill mobs over and over to level, so you could deal with your next part of the story. The same thing applies to GW2, the only thing here is that levelling is a breeze and you gain exp without even thinking about it, you don’t even have to touch mobs if you don’t want to. But then, why play an action based MMO if you’re not going to slaughter bunnies and sheep?

I agree on this. I like the update, it adds new stuff, the soloable instances are there, not completely to my liking, but still good enough.

It was short though. I did the instances on my own, at what I thought was a slow pace, but I’ve finished most in about 2-3h. Even found the mysterious devices on my own (it wasn’t up on Dulfy by the time I was finished). That took up most of my time, just running around, pushing in CTRL while walking…

No. They should add more content to the game that’s fun and doable solo, like an interesting solo mission/dungeon (not these mini-dungeons, they are fun but they bore really quickly).

And why solo? Because not everyone has the patience to keep looking for a group or has the time to always look for one, it’s fun to do things on your own, even if this is an MMO, a lot of MMOs add interesting stuff for solo play. There’s enough to do in this game as a group already, the solo part isn’t that great.

You can do zone exploration on your own, but that’s only once per character and it gets pretty dull after a while.

Guesting and guild influence

Amaris.9135

Hello

Not sure if this is a bug or if it’s intended, but reporting it anyway. Today I was guesting on the ‘Far Shiverpeaks’ server, where I have my old guild and I should have access to the influence roster and the upgrades. But when I represent that guild, it still shows the influence roster of my home server. This way, the guild still acts pretty much the same as it always has, the only thing I can do in that guild is chat, but I can’t benefit from its buffs, nor can I help it gain influence on the guesting server.

This might sound a bit confusing, so let me quickly explain it in another way. My home server is Seafarer’s Rest, where I’m part of guild A. I want to play with friends on Far Shiverpeaks under the banner of Guild B and help guild B gain influence, as well as profit from its buffs, but this is impossible since I only bring in influence for the Seafarer’s Rest version of guild B.

was this intended or not?

Southsun Cove completion

Amaris.9135

I like the new area, fun jumping puzzles, hard mobs, although it’s pretty small.

I would’ve liked to see a reward for map completion (I’m pretty sure I’ve got every waypoint and PoI). Maybe the map isn’t completed yet and you’re planning to add vistas/skillpoints, nonetheless, some reward for completing the map seems like a fun addition, since there’s little given by the event itself except the exp/karma/money from the dynamic events (which we can easily farm in less time in Cursed Shore).
I know the Mystic Forge gives you items, the new instance, which actually isn’t part of the Karka story, the chests we can buy with gems (or craft them using the forge)…

But the events we’ve seen so far always boil down to the same thing. A few exclusive DE’s, Black Lion purchases and limited Forge crafts. These last ones usually come down to having heaps of gold available for the items needed, or luck with drops. If you don’t have either (due to casual play or just a hole in your pocket for everything event-related), you’re pretty much bummed out from a lot of cool items.

I’m not asking for charity expensive items, since everyone would get them, but it would be nice to have some (account/soul-bound) rewards that can benefit the players.

The CoF Buff: My opinions

Amaris.9135

To me personally (haven’t read through all the comments) it seems that they are ‘nerfing’ a lot of means for players to actually gear up/get money/do whatever they want.

People who figure out a non-exploit way to get their money/karma/gear/materials/… and actually do their best to perfect this way seem to be halted at every patch. Dungeons nerfed because of lower rewards/increased difficulty, event farming being halted by lower karma, anti-bot code kicking in a bit too fast, increasing materials needed for craft (well not too much, only one I can think about is the wood logs, but it’s still an increase),… It’s limiting people who use the mechanics to the point where they just go afk for a while after doing what they like, because they get nothing for the time they put into the game. I know some things needed to be changed, but at least give us alternatives.

Exploited Oricalcum Ore Farming..

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Amaris.9135

Amaris.9135

" You will not exploit any bug in Guild Wars 2 and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits) either directly or through public posting, to any other user of Guild Wars 2. "

But this is just the point, it’s not a bug, it’s a mechanic that is in the game AND will remain in the game once paid transfer is up, so don’t get your hopes up too much. The reason people will still be able to do this (maybe less often) is due to the guesting system (which is great).

Granted, it’s an easy way to gain money or the needed orichalcum for your lvl 80 armor, jewelry or weapons, but it still requirs the player to put in a lot of time to get this run done once. The thing is, on American servers there’s no downtime on the transfers I heard, EU has a few minutes downtime. This could already be part of the ‘solution’.

But if anything, there are a lot more pressing matters to be solved, I don’t blame the people at all for wanting to gain money like this, as I said, this does not fall into the category of bug or exploit, it’s smart use of mechanics.
With the anti-bot mechanism farming for a longer time is getting ruled out, even a 1-hour farm of certain events (non-bugged events) with lots of mobs or just random areas with a high density of mobs is ruled out, with the immense fluctuation on TP and sometimes incredibly expensive stuff, people need to find other means to gain their money. Anet seems to be punishing people who find non-exploit ways to gain their money a bit faster (latest patchnotes changed the exp/gold gained from dungeon fast farming). This is kinda stupid, it seems they want their main base of players to be poor and only the very few lucky ones to be loaded.
