hi, i’ve missed event when you could make those account bound, is there a way to do it now or are my tools bound to 1character forever? t.y. in advance
some dudes where crying about gw2 when wildstar or teso comes out
and look at us now – we are stil loving this game
I hope I made it easier to understand why doing solo lvl50 fotm is not endgame :P
but then, what is an endgame? do we need solid snake and boxes for end game? or u know there’s like tons of free mmorpgs outhere, where’s good endgame? in wow?
i think, before asking for endgame, you really need to understand what endgame is
I fail to see what you mean.
i think he wants to play power fantasy, become somekind of sephirot and get content where he can utilize his new powers
arent mmorpgs about that?
but, but…
what does game really lack? raids? no one cares, quests? some, like me do, but it’s minority, and then there are hungry children around the globe, and we here are… nvm.
That’s something i just quickly thinked out of the top of my head, a lot of things would have to be ironed out ofc, however here it goes (remember this is just being thinked of the top of my head, im sure someone out there will just start crying over a small problem I didnt think of or something like that):
This zone could be like WvW is, you have a small city with limited progression (ofc) but that could be really extended. You could create crafting zones, shopping zones and stuff like this and than evolve them, better items in the stores the crafting zones started having chances of requiring less materials and stuff like this.
The kind of decisions you would make would be something like this:
Military: Create burning oils, siege weapons to defend against the dragon / possible attacks…
Economy: Develope stores and stuff like this and maybe start stuff like mines where there would be random ores appearing that people could work for.In order to keep it from hitting “level cap” easily you could intensify the attacks and stuff the more the city is evolved, for example the donations the bigger the city gets the greedier the dragon gets, asking for more and more to a point where it just becomes straight up impossible to satisfy him
By choices there could be a “Contribuitor Points” System, where you by completing events would give those points to whoever is in charge of the city atm and then he would decide what to create on the city. Of course that would then start creating something that a richer guild would always be in control of the city so in order to prevent that if your guild was the leader of the city during lsat month, every contribuition is reduced by 20%, and if the become leaders again, by 40%… etc to force rotation.
Now this would create some rivalities between guilds, but would increase ALOT the teamwork between each guild…
Like this you would have another Non-Racial Capitol city, you would have Progress and you would have challenge when defending the dragon.
I say that as being a city but this can be a personal instance of each guild instead, instead of being map general every guild would have its own, it would be like a guild Hall…
so, open world pvp and ganks again?why, what for? any1 who wants to, can just tp to battlegrounds.
lets just turn all of tyria to pvp free zone, and after a month u will play with your fellow pvpers – great solution.
imho, they did journal, now we just need to force them to put 1 and 1+ person content there with multiple difficulties and cool rewards. i don’t thing we need to force them, anet will do it anyways.
but what’s wrong with forums? im not saying community, cause theres lots of videos and comments there, but forums.. my god, can you all grow up and talk like real people, not like whining children?
stupid thread.
is there an endgame? no.
are we, as community going to create a discussion and extract points from that? no, we just going to whine, and blame each other for stuff.
can we, as community do something? nope, we are to busy arguing with vayne at forums, because, uknow, that’s how things work
lots of kittening, very little sence. thats kinda ok theese times?
Gear treadmills are not progression. They create the illusion of progression in order to keep you paying a subscription fee. There is a reason they are called “carrot on a stick” and that reason is not complimentary.
In GW2, progression is what you make of it. You set your own goals and then try to achieve them. If you don’t feel like you are progressing it is because you’ve not set progressive goals for yourself. If you are incapable of setting progressive goals, then by all means, return to a game that tricks you into handing them money for no reason.
how come visiting 100% vistas is a more “progressive” goal than earning a new gloves?
now, don’t get me wrong, i don’t want new item tiers. but the magic about them is that they bring new content along.
but why are you trying to say, how this game should be played to people with diffrent expectations?
I’m not anti-progression. I’m anti-raid. I’m anti ultra challenging content that 5% of the community will do and 95% of the community will ignore. That’s what I’m against.
I’m not against new skills or traits. I’m not against new weapons. I’m not against better AI for creatures. I’m against big, instanced, challenging content. I’m against gear grind. I’m against open world PvP.
I never EVER said the game was perfect. I never said the game doesn’t need more build variety. I don’t particularly like the new trait system and I hope they fix it before adding new traits.
But that’s how I want the expansions to be. Someone else said AA and that’s what I like. Alternate advancement. Not more raids or dungeons. That’s not where my fun lies. And I don’t think it’s where most people’s fun lies either.
yes, so i stopped trolls by providing you a way to express your ideas
great me
)
anyways game is rpg+action, or action+rpg and raids can’t work here by default. just because. but more quests, bigger stories, aditional progression systems can.
what i dream about, is a game like atlantica online crafting+merchendising system in a game like gw2
tons of goods, mass production, helpings selling supporting etc becomes your endgame way before you reach lvl cap. but well
You must not be playing the same game I am. LFG is empty for a reason. Parties fill in like a minute. Try it. Make a group. See how long you wait.
yep, game is active and more than that, you can always check ac and arah for run prices
vayne, i agree with you on most stuff, but, let’s be honest here – progression is what drives this kind of games. you become stronger, you learn new tricks, you mess around with all systems that game provides you, and you are have your own goal before you all the time.
gw2 is a great game, i can’t really start any other mmorpg because of gw2 – it looks superb, it acts good, it has some neat ideas.
but, after 80… you can simply say – i have beaten the game and that’s it. while the whole idea of mmorpg, and gw2 as well, is about neverending stuff, a world! and gw2 just gives up at this point. yep, journal is the next big thing, let’s hope it will introduce a lot, but as for this topic – do we really have “good” activities for lvl 80 characters?
my bad, i really want some structured gameplay, where i can take on a challenge and obtain a reward i need, instead of running around aimlessly. i’m sorry, i’m not a spiderman.
anyways even with that grain of salt i’m still at vayne’s side, i like this game, because, well, there’s no that good game at the market at this time.
I would like to see post lvl80 exp utilization, additional skills for 1-5 with ability to swap them for each weapon and an ability to enhance skills with various effects (with runes maybe). That would be cool, but again that kind of stuff asks for new lvl cap or something along those lines.
New level cap .. i think that would set the forums even more in flames then ascended
gear did. And people are still moaning these days again and again about the “grind”
that is forced to then by ascended gear. Now give them a new level cap and suddenly the ascended gear is garbage .. and they
have to grind for Ascended MK II .. would make maybe 5% happy but totally kitten of
the other 95%
Yes. But I’m not asking for higher lvl cap, I’m just stating that somekind of additional progression will require raise of lvl cap or something similar, where players can put new stuff to test.
Game was build around being more action, casual like, but even casuals reach the point, when they start to think about meta and stuff and whole game philosophy breaks at this point
it’s an mmorpg after all, and good one, otherwise no one would care
I like the concept of journal and I hope it will introduce something more than just ls stuff, maybe some additional stories or quest that can provide you with tons of lore, or maybe somewhat repeatable things that you can grind for rewards expanding on dungeon idea etc.
Otherwise gw2 is in kind a strange position, lot’s of players demand continuation of character progression and don’t want to see new item tiers or etc. So it all boils down to new progression systems and content that can test those, in other ways semi-gear progression is what people ask for. And you can’t blame them for that, it is RPG, and mmo one.
I would like to see post lvl80 exp utilization, additional skills for 1-5 with ability to swap them for each weapon and an ability to enhance skills with various effects (with runes maybe). That would be cool, but again that kind of stuff asks for new lvl cap or something along those lines.
Anyways, game really needs some carrots for lvl80 characters.
Remember when it used to be okay for people who play a game to be successful in it? Right now, the only fast and reliable way to make game gold is to go to your real life boss and ask him for some overtime to buy gems and convert to gold. Which may give Anet some boost short term.
Personally I never buy gold like this. So what if I could get that shiny legendary? I would not deserve it and it would feel like cheating. And lets say next week they launch some nice armor skins….do I rush to buy more gems? I think not…
I believe that Anet really went too far with the commercialization, given how competitive the MMO market is.
Buying gold for real life cash should not exist at all. Tho this is a buy to play game, so we are willing to accept it as an alternative for the slackers and those who earn too much to care about the cash. However there has to be a way for the people who actually play the game to be successful at it too. Farming should not be a crime.
This last patch, 20th may, is a good indication of the direction this game is heading…
you are, in my opinion, so… mistaken about stuff, that’s it really hard to comment. there are ways to bump or vice versa gem/gold convertion. game isn’t stiff about it, even more – u can gain everything with gold and gold/playtime value changes all the time.
the game, gw2 is fair, good, cool whatever. it is amazing in all its core components, some ppl dislike asura voice acting for story, i love them – it’s like how i would like to sound when english is my ‘main’
nah, game itself is good, in my opinion – close to perfect.
but, without economy, organic demand/supply understanding and legendary system, that burries so much content in favor of grind/rng/luck..
you know, it’s just sad, game with such amazing visuals, ideas and even stuff around ‘code’ goes for ‘rng’
here’s problem
watch?v=KmqgRAXygDg <- this is song, i use to run dngns in gw2
you may not like it, but u can support young artists and some music sharing
That would mean that the game would become less of a gold-grind because you can get most items in the game-word itself and running around with a zerg is not so rewarding anymore because if everybody starts to loot one type of content the value of that item will drop because it overflows on the TP.
nope
just, it’s not how it works and even if you still have to deal with, minimum 2 different mindsets out there. skins aren’t expensive because they are rare, they are expensive because most of community doesn’t give a **** about skins, they just want to play the game.
and there’s abstract demand/suply “economy” for rare pink swords, when not that much ppl need them. biggest game problem is that, there no “unite” good for all players (ecto globe let’s say), that would evaluete all stuff on market…. na, market is built around hunting some rare stuff. and in the end every1 is hunting gold just to stay in touch.
so economy goes around bags and salvagalable stuff, but legendaries and precursors are flipped by ac flippers. easy as that – if there was economy based on grind and, you know, supply chains with mats and bag – precursors are just random
like, you know, some1 was crafting hammers for weeks, days, years and crafted a “legendary whatever-hammer” ::)
because that’s how economy and production works
gw2 tries to keep prices (+/- it does that, if ur not buing silks that is)… and in the end you have “state economy”, something that communism shouldn’t be, but became in the end. :]
saddest thing – gw2 is best mmo out there, it’s just that there nothing to do in it
There’s plenty to do in it, until you’ve done all of it. Same goes for any game.
yes, but it’s a mmo? or not? i said nothing bad about gw2, just that for me(and i like this game) there’s nothing to do
i don’t like AP, i don’t like collecting i want just to level and play my power fantasy game. gw2 is about nice skins and teddy bears and gimmicky game mechanics for dungeons and fractals, it’s even more gimmicky obscure with group content.. but ok, i’m not trolling, i’m not blaming or hating. just saying – for someone without collectors mindest game is kinda empty(mmo).
break between living story seasons kinda showed, that core game is “empty”. i really enjoy and like gw2, but after reaching lvl80, opening some maps you just hit the brick wall.
it’s great game for people with ‘collectors mindset’, when u can utilize all game systems to gain new “collectables” , but for me, hmm, nothing essential to go for, nothing new to see, experience or do.
saddest thing – gw2 is best mmo out there, it’s just that there nothing to do in it
so no “forbiden words” were transformed to kitten just to … guys… reallly L( its sad
stupid topic topic i started, im sorry
sorry gw2 kitten behind wow women worshipers kitten isnt that artistic or good
ok lets keep our mouth shut, because
great deal + 2 u.
:D:D
let;s be honest here – we don’t get new complains, we are building stuff on existing problems, but anyway – updated gw2 = better gw2.
i dont even want to provide personal experience – there’s already much more players than i could wish for. i bought my copy few months after release – so apart guildies here and there i was playing solo game. now – kitty kitten kit kat its great – theres plaers, and they are arguing about languages on map, and its fun
game became live!
its great:)
i was sceptical about all changes, begore mega server was introduced
dunno, maybe there are big and huge problems, but overall idea is great – all those events – at last we are playing it
build pvp wvw aside, balance needed there, but the game is much more fun to play, even if some kittens are arguing about french or no french overall (thats gameplay to)
i just wanted to say that all theese changes are for better, really!
so…
there’s this guy, Cthulhu, he was doing all the voices in Scarlet’s Head. Cthulhu, comes from sea smashes LA even more and kills new dragon (new tv series do like some plot twists?) in first patch!
and then we have an option to join cthulhu and try to reason him, or not
dev launch event just like in voting one, but without results and story goes from there
my asura on Cthulhu shoulder destroying elder dragons while there are vampire’s among dredge?
)
i was doing map lately with my alt ant vabi server (low) and teq was there so i joined without any knowledge how to, did some dmg, some event – he died 2min to limit and yep, i think some ppl are doing him. it’s all about finding out who, what guilds, etc.
well at 60 you will hit 80 in no time, so.. there’s no reason to worry about equips in gw2 untill u hit lvl-cap.
do lower lvl maps or whatever. but if u wish to – follow the thing you’re after – open trading post and search for armors you need, it’s just that it’s not that importan untill u hit cap.
Well… It’s kinda shifty, especially at this time when “russians are occupying something”. The reference for USSR isn’t right, because all these names aren’t from ussr, they are russian; ussr was multi-culture in it’s administration. That one was bothering me too, especially the fact, that dredge = blind workers under ground, moles, with russian names isn’t really all that political-correct.
But I’m from eastern Europe and I know, that I don’t get “all other artistic” approaches out there, so I’m not interfering. Although, I would like to believe that dredges are all about art and cultural references, not a message or position of somekind from anet side.

bcause ppl want core-game expansion
i think…
i dunno, i love this game and hate it at the same time. firstly, i just can’t play any other mmo game, cauze everything is clunky or not detailed enough as it is in gw2. ye, and you can yell whatever you want, but gw2 has very solid game mechanics.
problems start with anykind of progresion. there’s never a big goal, something to reach, something to do apart from forging your own adventure (good for starters, zero for longtime dwellers).
and i really like and enjoy the idea of living world as often updates/events. but the core it self is suffering. so that’s why people are wanting some features, that could be called an expansion
for me, at least, it would be great to see some sort of more structural, more defined things in game for those who want it, like do a big-grat-huge quest line and don’t be bothered with rng stuff, just imho.
i don’t think there’s conflict between stuff and content teams. it’s just that they are providing stuff without hype, so nothing to talk about, with each little living world thing. new dungeon rewards, wallet, some other stuff – these things aren’t tied to “specific content”. while they are not perfect, i still love them.
in my opinion there’s two conflicts – story and design ones.
for story – almost everyone is hating on scarlet, although she’s just there to tease you with stuff, like joker in batman universe. everyone hates her, although, while i like her, i think it’s a great chance for an mmo game to introduce villain that has real character. stupid, but fun outcome.
and by design – there’s a lot to speak of
but mainly – is gw2 skin or any other pink and fluffy and nice stuff hunter, or is it unique character building and chalenging Thing ?
i hope it’s second. anyways i love this game, would like to love it even more, but they are trying to keep me from it all the time
we all need knights of cthulhu
well i for one just would like to have an option when creating an alt – to transfer him whole map knowledge, excluding possible reward for map completion.
and sorry, i don’t understand the video – you are just hiding usage of something or just doing something, blalala. anyways cheap way to show off ur video.
Well… i showed how i used the tomes of knowledge… Yes, maybe not that exciting but thats what i did…. Unfortunately my recording program crashed right there as i also wrote in the annotation inside the video. So far, I do not understand what you mean with your comment…
still your recording software crashed or whatsoever and you got that ‘borken video’, uploaded it to yt, then did a thread here. just to showcase … uhm, what?
well i for one just would like to have an option when creating an alt – to transfer him whole map knowledge, excluding possible reward for map completion.
and sorry, i don’t understand the video – you are just hiding usage of something or just doing something, blalala. anyways cheap way to show off ur video.
gw2 isn’t grind, devs just trying to engage you in basic content because reward system sucked from the start.
imho, gw2 isnt grindy at all, game just doesn’t know how to handle itself. small effort = small reward, big effort = same small reward.
my rng baboom was when i first joined champ farming train in frostgorge (few days after that champ update) and in 30min i got a shiny sword skin that i sold. after that rng wasn’t that generous to me.
in the end gw2 rng is somewhat ok for healthy economy (bags and stuff contribute to bigger picture out there), but lack of structured alternatives for obtaining stuff someone needs is a problem.
No you are completely wrong…the infinity ball storyline the PC in that world is supreme leader of the world and they took it over forcefully with the steam creatures as his army…he also killed all the dragons with them he states so no he’s not influencing the world he controls it
well, i was talking about intensions, not about follow up. and that’s why highly unstable and structurized civilization isn’t trying to take over the world. imo
Well, for me asuras are very, very self-centered beings. They worry more about their personal achievement than about ruling the world (although they kinda combine pinky and the brain with great intellectual potential and somewhat silly attitude). That story line about the ball that shows future was more about becoming acknowledged genius, than influencing world around them.
For me, main question is: how civilization, based on such self-centric principles is able to stay in one piece in the first place.
Well while I find it silly that people complain on stuff, that are affecting their ongoing “troubles” I still am worried about some design decisions here.
Like that horizontal vertical progression thing. While it’s superb that they got rid off some stress that comes out of vertical progression, but in the same time, they ruined the whole fun of achieving something more than achievement points. It’s kinda lame that it doesn’t matter how much work you put into your character, you still are bound to artificial limitations. Yep, that can ruin balance, but let’s be honest here – there’s no such things as perfect balance in mmo games.
In the end, developers are clearly balancing the game so that hardcore players can’t go over the top, while cutting down possibilities of casual ones.
Plus, I don’t get the rage about living story and things related to it. Each, each mmo game has it event system; it’s the same here – just called differently and with much more work from artists and designers that I personally adore.
So after a year… dunno, I made my long term pause, but after realizing how shallow and empty other online games are – I came back, and I’m happy about it. Although it’s true, you can’t go with your typical mmo mindset for gw2, this games has it’s own “universal rules”. But still, it would be nice to see some long-term, gameplay (not login times) based progression semi like system.
My imo, sorry for bad english.
dunno how about pvp, bout pve in coop – engie works well for me, got back from long break aswell. i like him because with all skill-sets he can overtake quite wide arange of roles and even in one fight easily change from heavy dmg dealer to conditional damager and supporter to straight forward healer. imho
i’m a new player. almost lvl 80, still only 25% of map covered. if i wish i can go explore, i wish i can go grind something somewhere, if i wish i can group and do some stuff, if i wish i can craft or whatever i want.
it’s the best mmo i played so far. it’s not structured. it leaves a lot of choices for player. that’s amazing. even most of AAA boxed games tend to guide players through their contents. this one doesn’t. and btw most of mmo games “tell” players how they should be playing while gw2 just gives you freedom, not questioning your intelligence.
so overall – for me gw2 is a must buy/play product/game. i never couldn’t thought that after morrowind i would see engaging, wonderful and curious world to explore. yep it exists here. it’s not morrowind but it’s way more interesting than those from latest bethesda works. and hey, it is mmo. i never experienced anything close to interesting and somewhat “not borring” story and its presentation. it’s not perfect, far from that, but again it’s better than a lot of boxed AAA titles out there. simply because it’s long, it’s demanding in some ways.
so for me gw2 has the good things that i expect from single player games and im amazed how those are implemented in mmo. in the end, for it’s price – it’s just amazing product. i could have bought like 5 games for full price, but those wouldn’t deliver, for me at least, the fun i got from this one.
ps. no fanboying here, gw2 has flaws, a lot, i’m just responding to thread.
hi!
new player here, don’t know how, but i reached lvl 76 just in a week or so. this game is just crazy and i love it. but for various reasons i’m playing solo. not because i feel like doing this, but for personal reasons. + when i have some spare time i’m trying to do some running around with players i met. and it’s fun, the way game is designed – i’m just popping in and doing crazy running from one spot to another. and i like it.
for now personal story drives me around. but what’s after i’m done with it? are there any engaging stuff to do after personal story is completed? don’t get me wrong, i’m not against cooperative gameplay, but my friends aren’t playing and i mostly don’t have time and patience to search for parties and the world is quite empty for me. that’s the reason why i’m rushing through personal story now, just to get guidance to end-game zones.
so are dungeons somewhat a challenge ? are there any alternative designed for solo players, maybe some in frameworks? maybe invite to friendly guild, that can guide me more and provide some fun gameplay goals and etc?(world – vabbi)
