So, I guess telling the truth gets me an infraction. I said nothing that wasn’t true, offensive or rude. It’s the truth.
I would love to get a real response from a moderator on whether or not the company is intending on keeping the money they’ve taken from me.
If I wait days at a time to get a carbon copy e-mail and I get posts deleted on the forums what am I supposed to do? Please I’m BEGGING you. Help me understand what my options are.
If you paid cash for it at a store, then you are out of luck. If you used a CreditCard then you have options.
1. Keep working if ArenaNet and NCSoft.
2. Document all communications between you and the Anet/NCSoft.
3. If you feel you have been wronged, then you highly recommend contacting the Bank who issued your credit card about a possible dispute.
(Call customer service.)
4. You may have to file a dispute. Now is the time for you to read up on the Fair credit billing act.
Also remember the FCBA, State Laws, and federal laws supersedes and End User Agreements or Code of conduct lists.Know your rights! This is why I highly recommend using credit cards vs cash, especially when dealing with out of state companies.
Please be aware that doing a charge-back will result in account closure and the account will not be reinstated in the future. While I appreciate a level of frustration may make it tempting to go through that process, the repercussions are costly (and necessary) and I’d like players to consider continuing to work with our Support Team on these issues, particularly now that they have additional personnel doing reviews of “fraud” issues.
Hi Gaile,
I normally do not recommend charge backs unless if it’s the only option left on the table. In this case, the payment has been posted to NCSoft, and yet the account has been disabled for credit card fraud. The Fair Credit Bill Act is to get Banks more active in setting disputes, so it does not penalize the customer or the merchant. There is a communication break down between this person and NCSoft’s billing department and perhaps if a third party gets involved, it can be resolved quickly. Perhaps the Bank is in the process of recrediting the customer’s account.
I’m pretty sure that most people on this thread does not want their money back, they just want to be able to play GW2 again. It’s great that ArenaNet continues to create great games, it just unfortunate that simple things such as miscommunications can complicate such simple things as to purchase and just play the game.
Also, thanks for putting up with us irate customers! You and the support staff are doing a great job and I hope after this is all resovled, ANet rewards you with a handsome raise! Judging by the shear volume of your posts and work, you’ve sure earned it!
(Sorry for the typos, I’m on an Android Tablet.)

Ok, I just got my first “infracted” PM and they’ve deleted my message. I guess I’m not suppose to complain about the lack of Due Process for getting banned.

I’m an adult, and I can manage the loss, but for days all I can think of is the teenagers going through this. Kids who saved up money with part time jobs or saved up or have been looking forward to this for months and them trying to go through this nightmare, or being robbed of their money which is serious money for them.
I swear it keeps me up at night. I shouldn’t get so upset about it but I just can’t believe that a company would treat people like this.
My son saved up his money to buy this game and so far he has not been banned yet. I’m glad that I had him give me the cash and bought it on my MasterCard. My only regret is that I did not use my American Express instead of the Master Card.

What?
What “Elite Bot Banning Team”? It’s a broken algorythm that just autobans players that fit ArenaNet’s criteria of being a bot. Why? It’s cost efficient. No need to hire people to form these so-called teams that dedicate their time looking for bots.
ArenaNet hired some Data Analyst to detect botting behavior.
Here’s an article about ArenaNet banning 1600 accounts.

I think it usually takes them 3-5 days to respond. However, there are some cases when they respond quicker to tickets.

Gold seller problems can be fixed. But running a ban bot script is not the answer.
Blizzard seems to have the issues under controller with World of Warcraft and the solution is not banning players/Customer. It’s hard to imagine that during times when the economy is not doing so great, companies like ArenaNet treats paying customers like this. Where the due process, why are customers treated as guilty, until proven innocent?
If anything, the lack of support or absolutely zero support for many cases, might even be pushing more players away from the game.
The support team is there. just that when ArenaNet brought in their so called “Elite Bot Banning” team, that’s when the banning problem started. What ArenaNet COULD have done was to increase the size of the Support staff. (I’m pretty sure ArenaNet didn’t do that.) I hope ArenaNet realizes that the bot banning team they’ve brought in has damaged the reputation of NCSoft as well as ArenaNet and Guild Wars.
What ArenaNet SHOULD have done, was to research how other Companies with MMOS are dealing with the problem. (E.g. Blizzard, Hi-Rez, Cryptc.) They all seem to have “Due Process” in place, and people are treated as innocent until proven guilty. They also don’t have a mob of irate customer because they were wrongfully banned, nor do they have a Gold Farmers botting problems.
GW2 is a great game, ArenaNet has talented developers. It really feels like they have no one on staff who has the experience to effectively deal the botting problem.
Any company can just bring the hammer down to kick botting behavior from the game. It’s takes a good Company and a talented staff to controll the botting problem while keeping the customers happy.

Yeh, but shouldnt said bank contact the owner of said credit card if it detected such a purchase and ask the owner if he/she did indeed make such a transaction. It is my money after all and I chose to spend it on buying GW2.
Yes, They should have.

If you Google “charge.ncsoft.com dispute” you will find a ton of websites reporting about stolen credit card numbers being used to purchase NCSoft products. It could be that the CC issuing bank automatically blocked the transaction as a security precaution.
Here’s an example site: http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/ncsoft-florida-c261455.html
It might not be ArenaNet’s or NCsoft’s fault that the bank decided to stop the transaction.

I was farming at Splintered Coast when I got banned. Since it was a three day weekend, I wanted to dedicated 1 night as a all nighter event on GW2. (Mountain Dew, Red Bull, the works! ) I was farming so that could by a Superior Sigil and the Abyss Dye. That Monday afternoon I got banned.
1. I did play significantly longer than usual. (normally I play 2 hours every other day.)
2. I am using a new gaming keyboard. (Razer’s Synapse 2.0 software seems iffy.)
3. I was watching TV while farming so I was not running around, and I did die sometimes.
If they’d check my account, They would have noticed that I don’t have much gold or inventory, have been working towards getting 100% exploration of each map, and I’ve bought almost $100 worth of gems. If a mod wants my ticket number, let me know, I can provide one. It actually took me over 1 month to level 1 character to level 80. Yes I know, Pathentic, but I don’t have much time to play games unless there is a three day weekend.

- Purchased November 8th.
- Purchased through buy.guildwars2.com
- I WAS charged. No, it’s not pending, I’ve been charged.
- 121111-001892
- I’ve sent support the CC billing info, zip code, address etc. through my support ticket.
- Send PDF copy of the confirmation from the bank that I was charged through my support ticket. No response since they said I was using a stolen credit card.
Ticket ID: 121111-001892
Did they close the ticket? It might take time for ArenaNet to respond since they are working to restore banned accounts.
If the ticket is closed, then you may attempt to open another trouble ticket. After 5 Business days (from 11/8) I recommend calling the Bank that issued your credit card for assistance. Just tell the Bank’s Customer service representative about filing a dispute and they should offer to do a 3 way phone call with NCsoft about the charge. The calls are recorded, and hopefully they’ll be able to resolve your situation as quickly as possible.
This option is only for fraud or charge issues, not for wrongfully banned accounts. They didn’t close it, but the e-mail said there was nothing more they could do to help. So I have no idea if my protests with the banking information etc are even being read, but I have continued to update the ticket with additional information, yet I’ve gotten no response.
Either way, it is fraud. I bought it from their official store, I was charged, they refuse to deliver the product or offer support.
Besure to document your communications with ArenaNet. The fact that the ticket is open, I’m hoping that they are working on your case. But the “There’s nothing more they can do about it” statement would worry me.
I’m assuming that you used a MC or Visa? Check your statement again and verify that your payment to NCsoft has not posted. If it has posted, then you need to call the bank that issued your credit card so they can mediate the dispute. (Either restore your access to GW2 or a chargeback.) Remember,Visa/MC has only 60 days period to file a dispute from the statement date. Again, the Bank might put you on a 3 way call with NCSoft as an attempt to resolve the issue, in which they might resolve the issue right there.
You do have rights, as described under the Fair Credit Billing Act.

I’m gonna leave this here, it is NCSOFTs customer service number and address.
Address
6801 N. Capital of Texas Hwy, Bldg 1 Austin, TX 78731
Phone
(512) 225-6359I got it from this website.
http://global.ncsoft.com/global/support/service.aspx
Other regions are also listed on there.I was going to use it myself today but got my account back, however since I’m still afraid that I might be falsely banned again while farming in Orr I am keeping the number.
I think ArenaNet is responsible for the mass banning, not NCsoft. If there was a screw up with a credit card charge, then I think NCsoft is responsible.
I could be wrong, but that’s how I currently see it.

So … proper game purchase AND not hacked, since he was actually playing when it happened. No excuses for this, A-Net.
And then they send me a Guest Pass… really?! Like I’m gonna subject any friend to THIS.
Back to WoW, I guess.
I have to ask some stupid questions, since I have never played WoW.
1. Does WoW have botting/gold seller issues as bad as GW2?
2. If not, what is Blizzard doing that ArenaNet isn’t?
3. Does WoW have issues with mass banning?
Maybe this needs to be moved to the tech support forum.

What disgusts me the most about this entire system is how powerless and guilty they are making us feel. It feels like the witch trials… I want to continue loving ArenaNet but they’re making it really difficult to do so.
The part that’s killing me is the wait. I’ve submitted a ticket, posted on the forums, but Arena.Net is silent about the matter. Have they seen my ticket yet? When will I be able to play again, in 3 days, 5 days? And of course, the question will always linger in the back of my mind, will I be banned again?
Hi Sim,
How long have you played GW2? Has the connection always been slow?

Did anyone else receive a “Invite a Friend to try Guild Wars 2 Today!” email after being banned?
I am assuming that they are not 24/7.
There’s nothing wrong with the game, it’s just that we are denied access to a great game that we paid for. I had it for only a month.
I’m shopping on steam right now for a possible GW2 replacement.
Well, I’ve heard about this happening when I played Guild Wars and Aion, but I always dodged the bullet and never got banned. I don’t play much games but I have not heard about this happening on Global Agenda or Star Trek online. Is this unique to NCSoft/ArenaNet? I’m actually hesitant to purchase any more NCSoft or AreaNet games in the furture.
Where did you buy GW2 from?
I recommend filling out a support ticket at https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/ask/ and use the “Serial Number Issues” as the type.
If you did not buy GW2 from the official store or Amazon.com, I highly recommend letting your CC Bank know what has happened. So if it was a fraudulent sale, at least your CC company will be ready to dispute the charge for you.

Posted by: AndroidClone.1706
This is a late reply, but you could buy it at Amazon.com instead of guildwars2.com. Apparently, there’s issues with some people who purchased serials via the official store with CC not being charged.
Maybe they conduct a history check of the account in question?
1. If the account is linked to a GW account that has been in good standing for over a 5 years should not be auto banned. Maybe it should be put into a queue to be reviewed by a human!
2. If the account invested in a significant amount of Gem purchases with money, may indicate that this person is not a botter, but a “pay to win” player.
3. If the account has been reported as hacked.

GW2 worked fine with my aging Logitech G15, but now I got banned using my brand spanking new Razer Deathstalker Ultimate.
If you have done so yet, file a support ticket at.

Choose “Serial Code Issues” for issue type and complete the form. Hopefully they can have this issue fixed quickly for you!

I just got banned today as a supposed “botter” I’m still waiting on any kind of response on my support ticket. I’ve put a good 300-400 hours into the game, I don’t even know how to run a bot. And now I might even miss out on this “one time” event this weekend.
I know how you feel. I did my first GW2 all nighter last night and got enough gold to buy a Superior Sigil of Flame this morning! Now it gone! Sniff!

Regarding the keyboard I read a while back in the forums that it was ok to use such keyboards as long as 1 button did 1 thing as opposed to clicking 1 button and doing 3 actions with that single click for example.
Confirmed!
“We do not terminate accounts based on the use of hardware, unless that also involves third-party programs that give an advantage to a player. A single one-to-one bind is fine. Binding 11 different skills to one press of a key isn’t so fine.”

Maybe instead of stopping the banned, they should ban a smaller amount of players so Support doesn’t get slammed by a tsunami of irate players and the support staff will have a trouble ticket load that they can handle.
You gotta admit that it’s cruel of ArenaNet to make a great game and then they banned us from it!
They sucky part for me is that I only had the game for about a month, and on top of the $59.99 for the game I’ve bought the upgarde to the digital deluxe edition ans spent about $120 in gems to buy Draconic Armor and other fun stuff! Now it’s all in limbo with the possibility of it being gone forever.
I’m wondering if the problem is my new Keyboard. I’ve recently changed from a Logitech G15 to a Razer Deathstalker Ultimate. Razer’s Synapse 2.0 software seems to be very wishy washy. I bring this up because atleast the Logitech G15 can function as a normal keyboard without the Logitech software. The Deathstalker Ultimate seems to require the software plus drivers, or it will not work at all.

i got hit when i woke up and started playing roughly 3 hours ago, man it does kind of suck though, maybe they should have done a better job with their automated bot banner ^^
There are two ways to better deal with getting rid of the bots.
1. Do not allow players to trade/send gold to each other.
This probably will piss off some players.
2. Make gold easier to obtain.
Probably hurt NCSoft’s $$$ income, so I’m sure that’s not an option.

Why on Earth would ArenaNet? I’m sure they have talented people working for them… this shouldn’t be this big of an issue.
Because in the fine print, of the fine print NCSoft states that:;
“Whether or not You wish to terminate an Account, NCsoft may at any time or for any reason, both of which shall be conclusively determined in the sole and absolute discretion of NCsoft, modify or delete Your Account as well as any other Account, NCsoft Message Board ID, Character ID, Team, and/or characteristics related to a Character ID. Unless NCsoft terminates due to breach of this agreement by You, You will be entitled to a refund for any unused purchased Gems that cannot be used and/or spent as a result of the termination by sending a refund request to the Notice Contact.”
Translation, they can boot you for any or no reason. I sure it’s more of a disclaimer than a issue of NCSoft or Arena.Net trying to screw over the regular old Joe. Hopefully they’ll have our accounts back up before the week is over.

This sucks. I normally play Guild Wars with my 12 year old son, and I got banned! I’ve tried filling out a trouble ticket, and got the same generic response.
On the bright side, at least they didn’t ban my son’s account.
