Discussion may be as well closed now. You killed it with one precise analysis of current situation, which answers absolutely everything. Well done, you handsome monster.
Yeah, it’s not yet released and such, but what would you say about ArenaNet reinventing stagnant Raid mechanic?
Open World Raids. Bought for a guild for certain amount of influence, have a cooldown on them (shared between all types or each has it’s own). Takes place in certain location, following it’s theme and putting players against 2-3 bosses out of this theme (I’d be happy to see somethign about those mysterious steam creatures). People from the guild starting this chain (and who was in a guild for at least n of days) get interesting and good loot, kill big bosses together and have fun.
Problem is going to be bystanders got caught in this whole business. They should get something more out of it, but not at same level as group paying for it (maybe increased exp and karma reward). Or, if you just came to level your alt and not interested in this business – here, have an overflow.
Tell my why this won’t work.
Another waste of laurels? Cool. Lodestone crysis is still waiting for a fix.
balthazar has been nerfed in the update 2 days ago so it shouldnt be a problem to complete the chain anymore. just ask guild or random ppl in cursed shire, malchor, strait of devestation and lions arch to help.
Been trying to finish it for 4 hours, tried to reason with people so they actually heal pact forces (I’m a warrior, and can only heal with my banner for miserable amount)., tried to make people split and escort several forces at once so we have bigger group.
Been there, done that, don’t want to anymore.
JQ has had it open for the past 2 days. Id assume that most high/full population servers have it open due to people wanting to actually do the temple events again.
I’m on JQ myself, in zone currently. been trying with different people to hold it for 3 hours.
this thread is the place to track this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/events/Uncontested-Temple-of-Balthazar/page/15
Good, thank you.
Any NA server that got it open?
I can only share about Charged Lodestone farming – sparks don’t drop kitten. It was fun watching price slowly climb up while offloading what I’ve stockpiled, but supply is dry and we’ve got steady climb over last month from 2 to 4 gold.
At same time was running CoE explorable. At least 11 full runs total, 33 paths, no cores and no lodestones.
Prices will rise again pretty soon, so if you didn’t get any precursors (that you could sell to get your) – you’ve lost. I’ve saved some gold until today, sold everything i had right now and trying to outbid, but i’m probably done and wont get anythign out of this event, except amulet, bag, 3 ectos and exotics worth 60s.
Harder content in terms of more interesting and varied mob mechanics, that’s how you make the game more interesting and fun. Just making the mob hit 10x times harder is just “meh.”
This I agree with. In my opinion the two laziest things any dev can do in any game is; 1: add enrage timers. 2: Increase the dmg / health pool of mobs and call it new.
These are lazy ways of trying to make encounters harder. Note I don’t use the word fun there. All they do is frustrate and make things hard. FUN is new mechanics, not new numbers.
There was an interesting general gaming concept – a game that adapts to it’s player by introducing new abilities depending on how well player is playing.
In case of new dungeon articale over at mmorpg.com did mention something about more environmental usage. I could only hope this means that developers decided to finally use their “bundle of x” concept more, because right now it could as well just disappear and no one will notice.
Paying? I’m doing it for free.
I was frequently running Mad King Clocktower lately (not for bags, just for fun of it and to help out others stuck), and I’ve got this problem: I can see people hacking. It’s not always as obvious as botting, there is no moving patterns – it’s a person using a hacking program, that allows him to teleport anywhere he wants with coordinates. I saw 7-9 people since Act 2 started at Clocktower JP blatantly using hacking software, once a guy even started arguing “I just need achievement and slippers, this is too hard for me to do legal way”; one person in level 1 instanced area skipping everything and getting right to boss encounter. These are obvious hackers, I’m sure there are more of them who act more careful.
Now, on tech side botters and hackers are different breed: you may examine bot behavior over period of time and see same pattern repeating itself, while hacker may not be possible to detect without seeing him in action. My question – are we going to get a “report third-party hacking software usage” that will flag such people any time soon? How far hey should take it so teleporting around becomes an issue on same scale as botting?
Would like to get thread moved if this isn’t a relevant subsection for it.
40+ times, sylvari warrior, no boosts.
My 2 cents about hardest jumps:
First hard jump sequence will be after a break on a cog, when your camera acts crazy if you hit brick with your face. Nest way to act I’ve found is to try and make 4 jumps – first on a shield, second on platfrom with brick above (not getting stuck), next on top of brick, and fourth of a brick to platfrom ahead.
Next kinda hard is a beam right before first chest platform. This beam is very thin, and for some reason you can easily slip even if you are sure you gonna hit it. Only tip I have is that aim jump for that beam, then turn camera towards end and run (do not jump, or you’ll drop).
Third tricky jump for some people is when you run up beam, jump to floating platform and have to jump to another beam. Don’t jump on a brick to the left, go straight for a beam; you won’t waste as much time, and I’ve never missed that jump, it’s pretty easy.
Fourth is, ofc, Leap of Faith. I’ve got some rules for that one: if you don’t see platforms below – aim for cog with a chest. If you do see extra platforms below – aim for furthest one.
Sylvari warrior and human engineer. Beaten 5 times. Can do more, but no point.
Basement, where did you get mittens?
@Phy
“If they were easy to get, everyone would have them
I don’t see how this is a problem. In a game where it’s all about looks that is how it should be. Why should your kitten prevent me from enjoying something?”
So much of this.
You may argue “Well, they won’t be rare and unique anymore”. Firs of all, they won’t be unique anyway, if more than 1 person has that skin. Second – people don’t care about rare or not. This is a common misconception about how a person treat a cosmetic stuff on their character – 89% don’t care if some other guy look better, or got an awesome sword if they see him ingame. All is important that their character looks good for themselves and fits their taste.
And company did exploit people, first misleading them with their advertisement (it’s slippery case on whatever you though they meant) and then stamping absurdly low chance to get any skin out of chest twice. I’ve got mine by some dumb luck, but I do get why people feel cheated for their money.
Don’t worry, 1H sword is boring as dagger. You can barely notice it has any animation at all.
Feedback is fine, but we don’t need 100 threads all with the same complaint, and things like this aren’t feedback, they’re just opinions that for some reason the OP thought we all needed to know about.
Here is a piece of feedback, stringed together from a first post:
same chance to drop: rusty level 1-10 sword with round edges vs big animated chainsaw.
Don’t like them? Don’t get them. Honestly, enough with the complaining.
Don’t like these threads – don’t read forums. When you people will get over whining?
Greatsaw would like a word with you, i almost have the gold to buy it from trading post ^^
Well yeah, I said that gs is one of coolest. But my god, why other are such a bland kitten? Should I roll a greatsword wielding class to finally have some love for my character’s looks?
On top of them being extra rare (won’t argue with that, developers gotta eat), everything but staff, gs and shield look just horrible. Maybe sword is something, even tho it took very close look to notice that it has any special animation at all; but dagger are just lazy crap, that has nothing in it.They have all same chance to drop from BLC, right? Why the hell some of them look rare and very cool, and other could be mistaken for a rusty level 1-10 sword with round edges?

Yup, godskull exploiters showing off, nothing to look at here.
Alright fine, you guys are right, this new system is perfect the way it is, the old system where the chances of getting a base weapon with enough tries was more reasonable was terrible.
You win, lets encourage arenet to keep the changes, I’ll keep making hundreds of gold off this new system.
Wish I had your resources. But at least we found a concensus, right?
I’d throw that idea to you again while on topic of pricing – 24 or 48 hours on item placement. You put an item on TP and pay a fee depending on price you set on an item, but this will last only set amount of time. It will starve out those guys, that accumulated 16 Dusks pretty fast and they will be forced to go for less profit before lost too much on that fee, and prices will eventually end up at point when they are actually reasonable, whenever it’s 50g or 200g for precursor gs.
Why would I promote gambling and wealth through luck, rather than being good at what you are doing? That already brought us to Dusk (an exotic weapon, mind you) priced at 200 usd. Doesn’t seem healthy for a market.
So what if Dusk is merely an exotic? Exotics are not all created equal, and there is no reason at all for their pricing to be similar.
The mere fact that it is a legendary precursor is entirely sufficient reason for it to command a vastly higher price.
Moreover, there are other non-precursor items that command similar prices. For example, the Triforge Pendant is being sold at 85g, and Jormag’s needle is being sold at 90g (which is not unreasonable when you consider that it costs as much as ~70g to make). On the other hand, some legendary precursors are being sold as cheaply as 16g (in the case of Venom).
Also, ~300g is still less than half of the total cost of a legendary, which is hardly disproportionate.
Um, no, that was a selling point of game – all endgame gear is equal. Different models, but stats are all equal to each other. Your example of Jormag’s Needle is misleading – there is 1 (one) for 90g right now being sold on TP, and all buy offers are barely past 5g mark, which marks it’s worth. If you compare it to Spark – 20 times difference in prices. Triforge Pendant is somewhat different in stats compared to other level 80 extotics, so it’s a justified price.
So, in your opinion 200 usd price for a different model and a chance to go on aventure of gathering another 200+ usd (no idea where did you get that number, but we’ll roll with it) worth of resources is completely justified, am I right?
I don’t understand people complaining about it being too difficult to create a legendary – if it’s not worth the effort in your eyes, then don’t do it.
It’s not difficult, it’s random. Know the difference.
Random luck in the Mystic Forge is one option you can take if you want to. If you don’t want to, you can set a buy order on the Trading Post and buy one.

I had a flashback of good old Vanilla WoW and Epic Class Quest. As a hunter, you had to kill some bosses for items to drop, than did some manipulations with them, and then you get a quest to kill 6 elite demons all by yourself, no help from outside. Weapons for quest were pretty much same stats as any other epic weap, but they had unique cool particle effects.
Guess what, Jihoko? Not every person had them or tried to get them. Turns out, cool particles isn’t enough to make people struggle so much to get one just to show off. There is definetely a better way to make legendaries still remain “legendary” without farming like there is no tommorow to buy precursor or gambling with mystic forge.
Why the hell we have exotics on TP, that cost 30 times more than any other? There is only one difference – “Used for crafting a legendary” note in tooltip. They don’t have a unique model, they don’t have unique stats, they are same as other exotics, but a terrible decision to make them available through gamble with Mystic Forge and TP flaw (you pay once and that item is sold on market forever) made them treated like legendary weapons itself.
Azazil gave a kind of good advice – make them account bound and a set recipe, and stop this whole bs precursor worship following, this is stupid. Or add a timer for putting items on TP, like 48 hours, after which a precursor holder must put it for another 48 hours and pay for placement on TP again. Eventually, prices will go down, because they’ll run out of money.
Edit: Also, nearly forgot – why passage for acquiring legendary precursor is money, luck or exploiting, and not skill? They look less like weapons of a very skilled player for me at this stage, more like a mark of some ahole, that probably cheated to get one.

IMO the best way to deal with this would be if ANet removed the Survivor part from the monthly until they fix it, and credit all those who have obtained everything else with the appropriate reward.
May I add that whole idea of this achievement is pretty stupid, because higher level you are – easier it is to complete. I’m getting more than 100k exp just by doing daily on level 80. Instead, it could be replaced with some helpful stuff – maybe an achievement for reviving 50-100 unique players.
Instead of turning into mist it just removes all of my 1-5 skills for a couple of seconds. No animation or model change, just this. Used as warrior if it matters.
