Ok. I had a similar issue last night but could change character and PvE or WvW only but not PvP. This time however I just get put into this empty map when I change character.

My team is stuck in an empty map with no opponent. Can’t even get back into Heart of the Mists! Anyone else got this?

You know whats funny about that chest piece? It’s the naked body geometry reskinned.

They took the geo for the naked body and replaced the texture on it. The reason it looks like it has “modelled” armor is because an artist took that geometry into a program called Zbrush and sculpted a very nice detailed model of it (millions of polygons). Then they transfer what is called a “normal map” from that high-poly mesh back onto the original naked body geometry (which only has a few thousand polygons). It creates the illusion of detail without actually having it modelled in the game engine.

A lot of gamers scoff at reskins, but it’s important to remember that nowadays a reskin actually does take effort to make because of that Zbrush process I mentioned. Look up “Zbrush speed sculpt” and you will see a lot of time-lapse of what I mean.

Why do people care about how they make something as long as it looks good?

There is no best for PvE. If it is your first character just go with the one that interests you the most. You should not be worried about anything else at all.

Whenever I see a dolled up female Asura I think of those weird little princess events.

My games just loses connection with no error code, everyone just stops moving in the game. Everything else works fine on my laptop, other games are fine and no problems on any other devices, it’s just this game. It seems to be happening since the update, anyone else had these problems?

They should make it rank 40 not rank 20 before they can do Ranked PvP. They are going to get abuse in Ranked PvP because you are expected to know what you’re doing, if you don’t you should play unranked.

Literally everyone has agreed it needs to be rank 40 before Ranked PvP becomes available.

I was playing ranked solo yesterday and won 1 game out of 8, this has never happened to me before, ever.

I have noticed a lot of DCs lately, what’s with the sudden influx?

I know the EU servers have always been bad for this, but EU PvP is trash anyway.

I have noticed an influx of clueless players in ranked. I’m all for f2p and I think it’s fantastic, but more effort needs to be put in to explain basic mechanics to new players. I’m sick of games recently where like on Legacy of Foefire we’re winning 350-100 only for the other team to kill our lord then storm ahead because my team has no idea what the lord is!

Make it rank 40 to do ranked not 20!

I’m the same when it comes to wealth but I don’t really care. It isn’t hard for you to find a new guild, the game is only stale to you.

You are just in the newbie area designed to get new players used to the mechanics. People say it’s easy, but I have no doubt you will start dying around lvl 25 and have to start thinking g about what you’re doing.

In Snowblind Peaks, Gendarran Fields there is a heart called “Help Johan with his training duties at Vollym’s battle pit”.

So I decided I could take on a troll and chose a cage next to a player who was already fighting. During the fight the bear in the next cage glitched through and started attacking me, bringing my health right down as I was fighting the troll too, then the bear glitched back out.

The troll I nearly had down but because of this glitch it killed me. I was level 45 and hadn’t died once, hoping to get to 80 without dying and this is my second try. I feel like I’ve put in loads of hours into my journey only for it to be ruined by a bug, it just feels unfair and a lot of time wasted.

Is there anything I can do to reset my deaths or go back to and earlier point on my character?

So my spectral wall had a fear duration of 1 second and a quarter. I have since put 6 Superior runes of the Necromancer on and 4 points in spite, yet it seems to have had no effect on fear duration at all. What am I doing wrong? I’m level 60 if this matters. I’ve asked in Guild chat, LA, PvP, nobody has even replied!

Not been into PvP for long, but why is there so few maps after the game has been out for like 3 years?

But that’s what keeps it new and interesting. I don’t want to see 20 unicorns waiting in the Mists before a match. Also it’s a way of proving your rank to other players. What of a hardcore PvP group was recruiting and they asked you what rank you were, you said “rank 1 billion”, they said “prove it”.

I guess it could work with a feature to turn custom finishers off, but there’s a problem of the game turning into a circus with all the minecraft minipets and unicorns flying over rainbows everywhere.

Well. I right clicked the GW2 icon on desktop, went to properties and deleted " -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80" from the target. Solved.

When the update happened my game never restarted, and didn’t for a few other people. Since then trying to restart the game I just get the message above. What can I do?

It is possible, if the name is not already taken in GW2. But, you don’t have to wait to link the accounts. GW1 names have nothing to do with GW2 names, anymore. Name reservation ran out not long after launch.

Oh I had no idea. I thought names were reserved. Crap, I’ve been naming my characters with extra letters on the end thinking I’ll be deleting them in the future!

Hi all. Having problems with linking accounts but I’m waiting for a response with that.

If I have a character on GW2 and later link accounts, can I pay for the name change and change it to an old GW1 characters name?

e.g. Say I play with a character called Bob Two on GW2. I have a character on GW1 called Bob One. I later link my GW2 and GW1 accounts. I purchase a name change and change it to Bob One.

Is this possible?

So is the whole of North America either OG, BL or FR? Or are there other servers?

By the way I’m on Fort Aspenwood but I’ve been with Badlands in EOTM for the past year until about a week ago it put me on OG.

So I’ve been having two problems an I think it might be related to the update.

Cutscenes often don’t work, the characters do not appear and you have to skip the scene to get out of it.

Also, I’m playing the Norn story line and on the mission http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/One_Good_Drink_Deserves_Another and it doesn’t let me complete the mission.

Hi all. Had a similar problem and was fighting for a while but when I went to the centre of the circle, the area which the wall surrounds, and killed those guys it moved on to the next stage. I think it depends on which groups you attack as some respawn forever.

Are you looking at your forum profile? Because that email address does not have to be the same as your account email.
You can see the status of your account(s) under “My account”, or here: https://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome by entering any character name. If there’s nothing there and you still can’t change your email, I suggest contacting support, but be patient, GW1 requests can take up to a few weeks to receive a reply.

Could I not contact GW2 support instead?

It says accounts linked, but it’s had no impact on my GW2 account at all. I don;t even know if it is linked to my GW2 account and not something/someon else. The account names are both different when logging in.

Update: When logged into my old account on the website it says my accounts are linked on https://account.guildwars2.com/account though I have no idea why. When I try to do link accounts by logging into my gw2 and going through the same process, it just logs me back into my GW1 account. What’s going on?

Ok I think I did it. Yet when I go to edit profile it says my old email is my current and when I try to change it to my GW2 email nothing happens!

Also, some problems I have. The email I used for my original GW1 account no longer exists (it was an old AOL email). Though I do remember the email and password. My GW2 account uses all new details. Is there still a way for me to merge my GW1 and 2 accounts?

You can stop the download at any time, and it will resume when next re-started.

Be aware, the designation percentage will start at zero, once again, but that is due to showing the number of files left in the current download session.

Thanks. I’ve fixed my connection now. From 0.6 mbps to 24 mbps. Yet Guild Wars is only downloading at 2 mb/s

I’m downloading GW2 to a new laptop but I’m having serious internet issues.

Obviously, I’ll be waiting a lifetime for it to install, but I’ll leave it on over night. If I close the window will it wreck the download, or can I come to this site, click download and it picks up from where it left off?

It seems I am meant to choose a server when I first get into the game (just bought the game and it’s downloading as I type)

Which server in Europe should I join that is the best for new players at the moment? I’m not sure whether I would be more PvE or PvP at this moment but it would be nice to meet a lot of people who haven’t a clue like me. I also like servers with lots of people.
