Guild Wars 2

After doing a clean install of Windows I copied my GW2 file back to my harddrive. At first this worked like a charm. But now (the last week or so) it has started to do some weird patching.

Every time I open the client it makes me wait while it is downloading the patch. After about 10.000kbs downloaded the “real” client with login options appear. After this its smooth sailing untill the next time I open the client again.

Does anyone happen to have any tips? I’m hoping there is some solution that doesn’t require me to download the entire game again.

I’m not sure I’d like that they looted for you. Yes it would be practical, but I’m not sure it would feel “right”. Some of the job is to go over and pick your junk up.

Some are. Like now there is a Miniature Reef Rider available as random loot in Southsun Cove. It’s time limited tho, to keep it “special” or somewhat exclusive. Earlier (as I believe they are removed now) you could get a mini Karka, Karka Hatchling and Reef Drake.

I don’t really have any strong opinions on if they should drop or not in a more normal setting. In original GW as far as I remember you could only get them in your birthday gift, getting special codes from magazine or events, collectors editions and or possibly for completing special events related to in-game holidays.

I sort of like them being special. Even tho I rarely find myself using one. Maybe if I had a new box in my Hero menu, or a own bag for minies I would think more of them. All to often I forget them in some other bag then my Safe bag, and poof its gone when i “Deposit all collectibles”.

I’ll bump this thread up instead of making a new one regarding the same issue.

These cats are just too cute to only last five minutes. I was surprised when I used it the first time and noticed how short it is compared to the Endless Toymakers Tonic.

You can get one by completing personal story as GuzziHero mentions or purchase one at BLTC.

You are looking for Ghostly Spineguard. lvl35 required to use it tho. When you get it, its just to transmute as with other items.

Yes, I belive making it display xxx/250 would clutter it up too much. Just changing the original color of the bauble too something else then Blue would make it easy to see, and not add any more clutter.

Then again, maybe this have been thought about and the decision was just to have it as is. Might be too luxurious to have an indication that one got a better wallet

I saw a couple posts, and have heard from friends that its not exactly obvious if a player actually has the wallet upgrade on a certain character.

What if one simply changed the bauble icon too a different color. Blue too green or something.

Actually I think that Explorer titles / discovering areas DO count. You need to uncover all of the locations written on the maps , which includes some hidden jumping puzzles.

The xx/XX of Krytan, Orr, Maguma, Shiverpeak and Ascalon does not count. ONLY POI, vista, waypoint, skillpoint and hearts do. I was missing somewhere around 9-11 areas according to that list, but I got all the things collected and got world completion.
Now I am only missing three places according to that list. As far as I know it is a jumping puzzle, and two “mini dungeons”.

As well as posting the actual amount of your findings, it can also be helpfull if you check your Explorer tab Achievements. I would re-check the areas you have most missing in.
Completing all eplorations does not give you Word Completion, but it can maybe be used as an indication as to what you are missing.

What I had to do, was go from map to map checking each zone individually by hitting M and seeing what was completed in that zone. Finally I found a POI in Black Citadel and somewhere else out in the world.

Are you able to create a PayPal account? If so, you can just buy gems from the Black Lion Trading Company..
If not, do you know if there is something sold in you’re area that might be called a “pre-paid visa”? This is a option I give to the customers who come looking for the gem cards (which we don’t have at this moment). Anyhow, you can use a pre-paid visa with PayPal.

Yes, I believe WvW jumping puzzles has the same limitation as PvE.
As far as I know it is as Sarisa says, a 24 hour respawn time for them. If I do one at 7 in the evening it doesn’t help to try again at 4 the next day.

I doubt anyone have unlocked it yet. Most likely it will be activated at the same time as Halloween starts. October 22nd.
If you got some cash flow you can save time on buying cheap jump from trading post and salvaging it

azazel: I would recommend you do as GaileGray suggests and go from map to map and check them. I also thought I was done, but was still missing some POI’s, vistas and a waypoint or two. I found mine close to one of the starter areas. After that, I got my gifts as well as star and title. You might have to spend some silver, or a little time to go trough the map but most likely there is something missing somewhere.

Rook: I can confirm that you do not need to discover all the areas you see in the Hero panel. Off course, there might be a POI missing in one of them. But I got all the things collected when you look at Map mode. And I am missing a couple areas here and there.

Lust: What are you saying? First you claim not to get anything, then you say you “only” got two gifts and a Been there, done that title. That’s it. You get the title Been there, done that as well as two gifts I think are used for legendary weapons. Also, you get a star with your name when running around. But this is only visible to others.

I think whoever you have talked to is right. When transmuting items you choose which looks, stats and upgrades you want to keep. Seeing that the rarity is in the same box as the stats you will get whatever rarity the new weapon with crit/precision has.

I think you might be out of luck in this case.

Arenanet stated on GW2 twitter account that this was not a bug.
My guess (and many others) is that it is Halloween related. Someone working with GW2 stated in a clip I found that Mad King Thorn from GW1 would return. My assumption was pretty quick that it might be related to his return.

Too me, you’re mail is already “authenticated” seeing that the mail was successfully sent. If it was sent to a name not in use, they would get a error message.

I have luckily only got one of these mails. First I didn’t notice the copper and figured something fishy was up. After I noticed it, i accepted it, deleted the mail and haven’t heard anything more about it.

You ate aware of the fact that you can remove any items from TP as long as their not sold yet? I doubt there are many items that get sold instantly on TP.

Yes it did. They changed it in the last update. Why, I don’t realy know. It was easier/quicker to do it whenever (i.e: equipped) then now.
They should probly make it a bit more obvious then just closing the windows when the transmutation fails. “Xxxxxx must be unequipped to transmute” or something would help people, and probly relieve tech crew of a flood of bug reports regarding the mather.

The monthly achievement is not bugged. This has been stated by ANet on their twitter account for GW2.
Last I checked they didn’t say WHAT is going on with the monthly but it has been discussed in similar threads. Most likely it is Mad King Thorn’s pending return to blame. Mad King = halloween related.
Again, just clearing up: the monthly achievement is not bugged. Lifetime survivor is bugged for me.

This is not Mac specific. It happened to me once a while back, running it in Windows with Bootcamp. Luckily it haven’t cropped up again.
I can’t remember what I was doing that made it happen. I’m just glad it’s gone.

You’re not alone. My cousin is experiencing the same problem pretty often. It happens now and then with me as well, but far from as often as is occurs on his end.

I have not run into the case of having to put stuff in my 1st bag. But you do have to unequip any piece you want to transmute before proceeding.
This changed with the last update (from earlier this week). Why they made this change I don’t know. I found it too be a hastle compared to the old method. My cousin on the other hand, liked this change.

So if you have been trying to transmute something equipped, I don’t believe its a bug. Just a different way.

Seeing that we’re in October, it might be the Mad King up to mischief! Someone from ArenaNet said he would return in Guild Wars 2 in a video snippet where they where interviewed. Let the conspiracy start.

Are you sure you had to start the download all over again? The client resets its % counter, but does continue where it left of. Just counting how many percent of the remaining files are completed.
Atleast thats what it is supposed to do. (Did when I installed on Windows)

Do you have a installation of Windows available? You can download the game there, and just copy the GW2.dat file over to your OS X installation.
