I’m getting this same bug with Zott – except it’s in Retribution, where you have to escort him to the signal tower. Logged out and tried it again, both times he stops once you’re on the second dock, before climbing the ramps to the tower, and refuses to move. You can talk to him and he says something about wanting to shoot zombies but his hands are full. That’s it. My first and highest level character, so I’ve never done any of the quest lines before. Kind of sad to get completely blocked on my first play through.

Maybe you already tried this, but on that quest, I know Zott won’t move until ALL the undead in his path are killed. So even as you round the path and head toward the stairs that lead up to the signal tower platform, there’s a small dock down and to your left, with undead that Lionguard are fighting but aren’t in your aggro range – those need to die too for Zott to continue.

Hope that helps, if that doesn’t work though, then does sound as if it is bugged.

[SPOILER] Only sylvari can hear.... !!!

This is FANTASTIC design, and during the BWE when I played through the story demo on a sylvari after running it once on a non-sylvari, I literally had chills going down my spine listening to the Mordremoth lines. It was just incredible. I fully support ANet having this difference built into the story, and just the potential for development and depth that can spin off from this just blows my mind. I respect OP’s opinion on this but have to disagree!

*edit: I have to add that I main an Asura, and do not have any level 80 Sylvaris currently. So I’ll have to make one and level it in order to fully experience this as well. This does not change my opinion.

Why excited for Gliding but not UnderWater?

Plenty of people like underwater exploration and movement.

Nobody likes underwater combat.

Gliding is the exploration and movement without the combat. Ergo, good. Also you can save yourself from Death Falls and maneuver in ways the game never let you do before in the primary game sphere, so hey. Also good.

Totally agree. I actually really love swimming and the underwater experience in GW2. The underwater environments are beautifully created and I love checking them out. Combat, however, really does feel strange in most cases, as it’s been stated. Despite the lack of attention to the combat side of things, I hope the dev team continues to work on new underwater environments into the future of the game, though. They’re just beautiful!

How likely are "huge" changes at this point?

After spending hours and hours on my beta rev this weekend, I am convinced this will be my main after HoT drops. Roaming as condi with rabid gear and mace/axe was entirely too much fun this weekend. I also spent some time running a support setup with sword/shield and staff to drive the Ventari/Glint setup and it was a blast as well. This is the multi-role hybrid class I have always wanted.

I have already started assembling my gear for October 23rd.

Basically this. I’ll be interested to see where Rev goes for BWE3, but I’m seriously tempted to consider it my new main. Had SO much fun this past weekend on it! I loved that setting it up with a support build REALLY led to providing some meaningful support for my groups. This has been something I’ve wanted from GW2 for a long time. Looking forward to your work on it, Roy!

I really enjoyed it. I wanted to try running a more tanky/support type build, and so ran Glint/Ventari, with cleric’s gear and monk runes, with staff/hammer, but stayed mostly in glint and ran facets. I think I would have run shield, but wanted a ranged weapon to pair with it as I enjoyed running staff as a melee weapon. My regen was ticking around 300-500 per on myself and allies, and even though I was running zero precision on my gear, I maintained around 40% crit with the perma fury and food, so my damage was still solid.

It was really fun! The tablet and Ventari felt clunky to use at times, but the heals and projectile block were very strong and fun to use. I think revenant is in a good place, and I’m excited to be able to play a role that is so supportive. I’m hopeful that the expansion content really does move us away from the zerker meta so these roles are more needed.

Can confirm this is still going on – not so huge of a thing for me, but my guildie is trying to get his 100% map done, and this is his last map. His underwater pets stay out on land, he can’t attack any mobs, and many other issues. Everyone in his map chat is complaining about it.

I really don't know where to begin...

Great post. I agree with a lot of your comments.

As for the stereotyping of the races, almost every member of a race is the same… All Charr are sarcastic and aggressive…

Very true, and THIS is what made characters like Tybalt, Zott, and Elli so cool. You could tell Tybalt fit into his warband before his accident just fine, and was a part of Charr society, but was so different from the stereotypical Iron Legion Engineer – lots of flaws, fears, and a sense of humor and sentimentality. Zott and Elli (Zott especially) had bits of that Asuran snarky quality, but it didn’t define their personalities – Elli in particular was bubbly and optimistic throughout – not typical of Asura – and these qualities made these characters so lovable.

The voice acting… how did we get such bad voice acting? To be fair, the factors I mentioned above might have degraded our perception of it, but it’s still not that great. I mean, I mistook the female norn for a male asura when she shouted “Might makes me right”. It’s especially odd, considering how the voice actors they chose have done such excellent work in other games. Troy Baker, for instance, was the voice of Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite, yet his character (Logan) in GW2 is so bland. How does that happen?

In Logan’s case, I actually liked Troy Baker’s acting. I -really- like how he puts emphasis on the -right- words, lets his voice rise and fall a lot (sort of subtle hope into resigned disappointment). I think where the issue is with him is that his writing is a bit one-dimensional. His devotion to the Queen is just… ugh. Annoying… considering how she treats him SO coldly – like she couldn’t care less if he’s there or not. The end of this new Living Story instance gave me some hope regarding that – Anise’s questioning of Logan and the slight rift I’m seeing developing… I hope that goes somewhere and makes that side of his character less bland.

The Nightmare Court are stupid.

I happened to get lucky and pull the Tybalt backpack cover… at least I have him with me for my adventures that way

Agreed I wish I had something in my home instance as well.

This guy gave me a serious beatdown the first time I tried him. What I noticed though was my NPC Doern (Order of Whispers – not sure if he’s order-specific or if everyone gets him for this fight) does tank the champ awesomely – all my other NPCs (Benn Tenstrikes’ crew) died in 2-3 hits but Doern stayed up awhile fighting the champ. So I respec’ed for pure damage – loaded all my utilities with stuff to help my burst, and tried again. I was able to kill him this time again with Doern taking most of the damage, I just burned him down faster. Somehow this brute-force method worked. Sorry for those still struggling… just figured I’d put what worked for me.
