theres got to be more to it than just a server problem becaus that would mean the server is treating players differently but maby it is maby they have it set up to throttle based on some algorithm because i have almost never had culling problems(only in the truly epic sized fights 120+players same ones that start to lag server) although I have not been able to play the last month so I didn’t get to test the trial
have ladders separated not by region(lol?) but by time: 2 ladders 1 weekdays 1 weekends this would make 3.5 day resets and make wv3 much more interesting
on top of this i think they should have 2 servers fight together as 1 color and do this by assigning lowest rated server with highest and 2nd lowest with 2nd highest and so on… this would serve to balance server populations over time

i had this bug until 1 week ago form game launch it is an issue fo rmany players it magically fixed
as a thief i just sit on the gate hititng cloak and dagger every couple seconds lol have gotten gates as low as 90 % befor getting borred
5 guar using wrath elite all at once. no aoe limit………40 man zerg gone in secs. buh bye pvp balance
What’s that boon that reflects damage back to the source again? Are there ways to spread that? Hmm…
I think you’re talking about retaliation that can be granted with a symbol of wrath. So a large turtle with a guard dropping symbol of wrath would be terrible for someone trying to AoE it with no cap.
Think about it, hitting 40 people with an AoE and having it reflect something like a third of the damage back. Let’s say the average hit of the AoE was 1k, that’s just over 13k reflected back to the source from one hit.
i would gladly sacrifice my self to do 5k dmg to 40 people
i d ont know alot about elementalists have only fought htem never had one but couldnt they throw a firerain down on a zerg then mist form the reflect dmg? while running out of range not to mention have down state to back up
the culling doenst affect the supply camp thing that much cause the most skilled thiefs can time c/d to start animation befor stealth wears off then hit so close to appearing that the human cant comprehend the thief popping let alone a server/client
so dont expect fixing culling to stop the best thiefs you have to make use of counters that are already ingame

people will forever qq about thief because the type of player that rolls thief is and always will be better at ganking then the average gamer
whats wrong with takign good ideas from other games? of course adding your own flavor can make them better gw2 and gw did this plenty as with almost every game befor them
better idea how about just have a larger EB no borderlands (would help mitigate the 1 server has more people to cover all maps thing)
having 2 ladders but based on weekend and weekday not eu and everyone else(more servers to get more even fights) that are on 3.5 day reset cycle
once every 3 months(less more?) make everyone repick their server(assign all players to no server picked and they choose a server next time they log in)
implement guildwars like in tera
or an eve type map where everyone can freely fight eachother and stuff is owned by guilds/alliances not servers and no i wont go play eve i dont enjoy spaceship combat
they made it so any damage to gates or walls of a keep/tower contests it for 3 minutes we have been using this tactic for ages to contest wps or fake attack towers come on people not an exploit and definitely not new
tera style gvg would be amazing indeed that way you can specifically hunt players in enemy guilds in wv3 should show them on mini map too would be epic
wv3 is also turning into a casual format like anet wanted i think this i s having more of an impact than the orb snowball effect
if thats true and the machine makes no diff then some clients are favored over others for some other reason or there wouldnt be such a difference for some players
can stealth past legendary guards i know and there are like 10 places you can leap finisher or just casualy jump up the ledge i know this because we had to kill seige up there often in the past
love the idea would add to wv3 imo
can alwayss have community run guild wars in the bottem wv3 tier would be interesting
ok thanks sini i figured it couldnt be tha tmuch cause i have friends who live in texus and i live in alberta canada and they have huge issues when i dont have any i have to actually constantly count and report the people for them/call out portals and all that stuff

There seems to be some confusion about this, and some people bleating on about how they don’t get the culling problem and their computers are good, etc etc… this issue is there for everyone. It’s not about how many people are outside a gate, or in SM, or how many characters you can see on your screen at once.
It’s about how the server makes a decision over which players it’s going to tell you about, and which it won’t. That’s why 50 people portalling is a problem; because suddenly the server has to tell you computer about 50 new people, as opposed to simply telling your computer that the 50 people it already knows about have moved. One requires a lot of data from the server as well as time for the client to process it, the other considerably less so.
If your computer has already been told about a group of players you’re golden. If the server’s logic on when it should tell you about a group suddenly evaluates to true then the invisible become visible; it’s that logic that needs addressing.
There are so many things Anet could actually do to improve this with the technology they have. Unfortunately who knows if and when we’ll get a fix; a potentially amazing PvP framework is being kittened over by a poorly thought out server optimisation.
high end overclocked processor/ssd mitigate it quite well for me as i outlined the point at which i believe the server problem takes over everything under that is client side could it be worse based on internet connection/distance from servers?
they do the same to other ladder shut it down to lower droprates of dyes lol right durring americas primetime

and 1 or 2 stonemist battles where all 3 servers have EVERYONE there 180+ players and even there the serverside skill lag is more of an issue than the temporary nonrendered players that at closest pop into sight 1000ish units away for me even stillI just dont believe you. I run 5 to 20men groups since release on a daily basis and we encounter MAJOR clipping issue VERY often and everyone on the vocal is having the same problem. It is so predictible that we often turn it into a strategy: move to a large distance than rush the attacked door throwing blind AoEs, it kills people you dont see and who cant see you, even outnumbered you still get a ton of kills.

well if you want we can arrange a stream session i can show you but thats troublesome i really dont get it to tell you the truth because your graphic card and processer are a small margine better than mine i use SSD HD tho do you have that? hell ill even come to your server and play with you for a day we can do a direct comparison

hi i am a thief from blackgate who has taken advantage of this a lot tho not recently as i am too busy to play gw2 let me point out that the ability to do this stealth prevent thing varies WIDELY by a few factors:
-who you are fighting being the biggest(some players by themselves or in a zerg can counter a thief even when some zergs cant manage this),
-how many are you fighting(usually more the better cause that puts culling on your side)
-and which supply camp as the cover/circle size vary vastly.
let me say these solutions would all work by themselves to fix the issue:
-Reduce circle size
or No hold point while stealthed
or Capture progress based on population difference(least favorite there are enough wv3 mechanics that encourage zerging)
or Fix culling
or Release an official educational video to show how easy it is to counter this(may not work as most players are just too bad to ever understand)
I want them to do one of the above fixes and not just outright nerf thief to the ground due to incompetent players complaining about something that may be cheap and difficult to deal with (skillwise not powerwise)but not broken
wm is a zerg guild why do you expect quality sure they have a legacy with guild wars franchise but what does that mean? nothing there are a few decent Wm i have found as i play the same times as them but most of htem are just typical of a zerg guild all numbers or perhaps playing from asia gives them too much lag?
i bug reported that glitch and btw i could not play without abusing it it faded quickly and i was never outside of fighting people so i would have to abuse a known exploit logging off in combat to avoid using this glitch
the few mins i had this glitch it took me most of tha ttime to realize i even had it i thought i had quickness proced until i looked at my buffs afte rit seemed too long there is no reasonable expectation for me to not abuse it when it came on so unexpectedly and temporarily

i did not accuse any individual guild i only said the only hackers i have seen wer ein asian guilds and they did it so blatantly im sure their leadership is well aware and they should discipline them
also you say our turtle is a exploit but it is a tactic and we stopped using it as soon as you guys realized your qq was for naught and it is easy to counter some jq guilds even tried it themselves
and the orb hacks were done by all 3 servers and btw our server found out who did this reported them and also found they were transfers so basically we were set up then subject to a smear campaign much like the one you are attempting at me so again i say:
there is also the whole thing of comming into t1 and meeting the most disgusting no moral hacking exploiting spying quantity over quality zerg we have ever seen in mmo gaming

cool story brah but honestly you just got outplayed why didnt you just send 1 guy to attack enemy keep with wp every 3 mintues to completely eliminate thier waypoint
countering a zerg is easy but when you are outnumbered you have to run back and forth to both servers countering htem over and over without tiome or enough people to use supplies to repair the damge they do so you lose everything anyway even if your party NEVER dies wv3 is very broken
eventually it just ends up being swiss cheese keep and maby another nearby objective where the defenders are just running aroudn trying to keep up with the wiping of enemy zergs until eventualy the lag defeats them or the zergs get luck and pincer in the right manner they are finally defeated we have seen this play out countless times skill and tactics mean very very little befor numbers and when you put numbers iwth skill and tactics you get HOD and we all know the gaming world cant make enough HOD to ensure competitive play

no wads it gave me passive quickness i could spam #1 autoattack as a thief and attack so fast my hadn were a blur adn anyone that ran past me while i did this whiel stealthed would die almost instantly so i was like some kind of unstoppable monster forr a few min
could also take out short bow and spam #1 into a group of players and watch the shots ricashey everywhere clouding my screen with numbers and if i proced quickness and stomped it was instant or even without quickness it was as if i had quickness and outside of some sounds not playing there was nothing else wrong with the game

there is currently a glitch that happens after the server lags form large scale fights that will give a passive quickness to players and if they add this to their own quickness everything is instant i know i had this a few times last week befor sandy when there were actualy alot of players form all 3 servers in wv3 and i could dump my entire initiative pool instantly on anything for a few min after server lag
where do you get this misinformation most of bg is not wv3ing or quit the game temporarily or permanently due to rl circumstances or being friends or guildmate sof those with rl circumstances and not wanted to play unless everyones playing kinda thing

i never had a problem outside of the largest scale battles either when i run up to a zerg i see them at near max viewdistance perhaps you need driver updates or it could be your internet hookup?
hope this brings to light how silly the explanation actually is and why we wont buy it a little about myself for those who dont know me due to this again being my first post:
-asura thief in brown/green full invader gear tag [DtD] or [LUC] favor shortbow and dagger/dagger or pistol/dagger have a awesome feathered wide brimmed hat
-have been and always will be one of the best and most dedicated thiefs and players in this game
-probably have the longest records for hiding out in every single one of the keeps and stonemist(sometimes i get so bored that i cut them short by starting to gank and taunt the enemy side by using my thief maneuverability to blast around the space i have) and know all the hiding spots so go ahead and say i dont know where the hiding spots are not to mention towers which i have solo taken many due to people not sweeping them (failed many more times tho hehe) i have been in keeps and watched them go from 350 supply cap to 1700 and didnt stop there doing nothing but report to my map guild or mumble enemy movements and supply count/state of walls/gates
-i have attacked a inner gate solo fully reinforced to the point of bringing it to 30 % by myself remembe ri hav eto spend 1/3 my time hiding and 1/3 my time kiling guards and i did this with my shortbow(very low gate dmg lol) to show you how long i have spent in some of these keeps often detected but enemy gives up chasing me and i have hidden in every good hiding spot usually moving between all of them for lengths exceeding this while playing d3 on my other monitor and have been doing this since headstart(i didnt play much wv3 before headstart)
-when i sweep a keep i sweep it as if im fighting someone even better than myself and account for the possibility of stealth trains i know all the animations and stay in every hiding spot for long enough aoeing so they would have to use a easily visible animation 2+ times only way to hide from me is using the exploit mesmurs and thiefs use to teleport into staircases+ some walls and i admit i didnt check this possibility in sh last night as i dont wanna exploit and it only happens to me a few dozen times a day by accident and i just teleport out right away so i dont get misunderstood
anyway sorry for rant and sorry for tooting my own horn so much just sick of players coming in and doubting the word of the most honest hard working outmanned t1 server in history(yet we somehow are the cheaters thanks to some clever hacker planting proven to be work from other servers transferring their accounts)
