Yay! Welcome new people.
bump for great justice!
It’s essentially WvW for the terrible people/people on terrible servers.
The good old days of it being a decent karma/exp train are long gone.
I barely bother with the dailies pre-change and now I’m sure as hell not going out of my way to do any of them. The old ones were better.
I still can’t get over the time when you guys flat out said no new dungeons because it’s too much work. The one thing that would add any replay value to this game that wasn’t completely a waste of time/effort (fractals) was “too much work”.
That depends on their plans and desired target population. If, hypothetically speaking, they decided to aim the game purely at casuals, then they might indeed decide that dungeons is not something they should be concentrating on.
…except the Raiding CDI was specifically aimed at the same part of the community dungeons earlier were being made for. That’s one of the communication mixed signals i was thinking of in my earlier posts. Each of these alone might make sense, and would tell us something about planned game direction. Taken together, suggest that the vision is either insonsistend and conflicted, or simply missing.
Which again brings us back to the problem of them telling us nothing.
I feel like we’re approaching a full circle here.
Ok, here’s some info on these specific comments:
- No, the game is not lacking direction. Nor is it lacking vision or goals, plans, ideas, concepts, or any of the other properties that guide our future. The quiet now is not an indicator of anything other than the fact that, at this time, the company is not talking about the future but is, instead, working on it.
- The silence is decidedly not a distraction effort. As Mike O’Brien said, "We’ve set a clear policy in the past year: “We don’t talk speculatively about future development. We don’t want to string you along. Creating fun is an uncertain business: sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t; sometimes we go back to the drawing board over and over before we get something right. If we make optimistic promises and then can’t deliver on them, everyone suffers. So when we attend a trade show or give an interview, we’re there to talk about what we’re getting ready to ship, not to speculate on what we might ship someday.”
- We are not “afraid” to lay out a roadmap. Quoting Mike again, “The intention of the CDI threads is to talk with you about the roadmap.” If you’re not participating, you’re missing out on a means of sharing your feedback and a method that we may use to give information, when the time is right.
- No, we’re not fearful of player reaction to our plans; we’re simply choosing a different path in communicating in the here and now.
TL;DR: What we’re doing now is sufficient. Deal with it.
Honestly, you guys put out such little information. I wonder if some of the devs actually play their game. There IS a lack in vision/goals/plans/etc. There IS a lack in content.
I still can’t get over the time when you guys flat out said no new dungeons because it’s too much work. The one thing that would add any replay value to this game that wasn’t completely a waste of time/effort (fractals) was “too much work”.
“Too much work.”
How about you guys institute some kind of tier system that prevents brand spanking new players or players on completely new characters from hopping into solo/team queues?
Nothing wrong with players looking to PvP but they shouldn’t be able to jump right into rated games.

It’s too much work to read all that. /s
So if adding new dungeons into the game and helping add to the already limited replay value of the game is too much work (dungeons/pvp/wvw). Could we at least have the rewards for dungeons/fractals increased?
This is something we have discussed many times and that I would like us to do.
Chris
But what are the odds of this actually being implemented? It’s something that you say you would like to happen but what can we, as players, actually do about getting it done? There have been countless threads pointing out the problems with it on these forums and on reddit. Players have gone out of their way to actually provide #’s.
There is seriously nothing else to do on this game that offers much replay value. The game is going to be turning two years old very soon. We’ve had the same set of dungeons since launch. Fractals was a nice touch and the few added levels were also good but it’s also very limited and VERY unrewarding for the amount of time and effort put in. It’s more or less not worth doing for most of us that are capable of running the higher tiers. Not to mention if you have to PUG..
When can we also expect to see skins being added into the game that either:
- A: Don’t look like kitten
or - B: Don’t require a gem store purchase. (The last set of skins added were the Ascended ones.)
I want to play your game. I’m not happy with the direction the game has been headed nor am I happy with the most recent things that have been heavily discussed in the last week. I feel like half the reason I play anymore is primarily due to the amount of time I’ve already invested into this game and also due to the people I play with.
I know I’m not alone in thinking this but when can we actually see content being added that isn’t a gem store purchase or a lackluster, challenge-less and boring LS nonsense? *I like GW2 lore but I could not for the life of me give a kitten enough to go back and replay it to grind out the “challenge mode” achieves that are just a joke. I think it’s a really kittenty method of getting people to go back and replay it.

They decided that it wasn’t worth diverting any attention to the few limited aspects of the game that offer any replay value whatsoever because it was too much work.
The new trait system is pretty terrible. It makes leveling even worse than it already was. Kudos for making it really awful for newer players that already have no idea what they’re doing.

If they’re really not going to bother with dungeon content then they should atleast up the rewards. Same goes for fractals.
What you really mean by “I Don’t Want to Farm Anymore” is “I want everything handed to me”.
Having an MMO without having to put any effort in at all is absolutely absurd. Also, jokes on you, you can barely farm anymore. They’ve nerfed all the profitable ones because of people like you that complain about the “grind”. Good job.
bump! come join us for some blix orr farming before it gets axed!

300g is reasonable. I’d be okay if it were even higher. The last thing this game needs is more terrible commanders.

Because getting weapons/armor with gold is a bad thing? Go play any content you want, anything you will make gold, exchange for gems and get the weapon/armor you want. No longer do you need to fight that fish 200 times with the hope of it dropping Super Fin of death. Now just fight anything collect gold, buy Super Fin of death.
You must’ve liked the Auction House in Diablo 3. Buying stuff just isn’t as fun as actually finding it. Sure you can kill that fish 200 times or even more, but when you finally see that Super Fin of Death drop, man…is it a glorious day! It feels so good. As it does with Diablo 3. Actually getting an awesome legendary drop feels SO much more rewarding than hopping into the AH and buying it.
I played WoW killing a boss in one of the raid dungeons probably a good 100 times trying to get a shield that looked like a wall with spikes. It was going to rock on my dwarf warrior, it dropped one night and went to the paladin. I proceeded to quit for a while.
“A good 100 times” is a bit of an exaggeration.
Also, a lot of factors come into play into why you didn’t get that shield. There’s a good chance its due to the fact that he was better than you.

Leveling an alt shouldn’t be TOO easy. This prevents players from starting new classes and being absolutely clueless with it and expecting the rest of the group to carry them through a dungeon/fotm/whatever.

It’s only worth it for the achievements.
Last year, they would reward more money based on how many gambits you had active.
Now it’s absolutely worthless otherwise. Don’t bother.
The Queen’s Pavilion will be great once all the people who came to zerg up, mash 1, and collect tons of loot leave.
Do you actually do the events in the pavillion currently? Because I do. The amount of time and effort put in to get a kittenty champ box and greens (if you’re even that lucky) is not worth it.
Relax dude. Just buy more gems and make it into gold. Don’t worry about them nerfing every viable way of making income that isn’t horribly controlled.
Don’t you want to support GW2? Buy more gems! Buy buy buy!
/sarcasm
The economy works like it does because of the gems/gold conversion. They rabidly protect the economy and nerf truly profitable reward activities or limit the rewards to once per day to protect this. They don’t want players making legendaries with in-game money that they earned playing the game. They’re trying to create an environment in which players buy gems, convert them to gold, then do whatever players usually do in a game like craft gear and buy weapons and armor.
Pretty much. It’s really kittenty and they know that people will convert gems to gold and boost their sales.
