i like i dont have to play inventory wars anymore
I don’t like the inventory wars either, but I really do think there were better ways than this.
i like this way because my inventory isnt cluttered by masterwork runes or sigils althoght they should have rare unidentified equipment that has a chance of becoming an exotic.
Most points as to why there changes are bad were already pointed out and I wholeheartedly agree.

There is nothing to deal with. Arenanet has a business and design model in place. You are literally asking for people to brainstorm about something that will not happen or is not likely to happen at any point in time.
You could have just as well started a thread about tee and have people brainstorm via what crazy ways tee could be made. Actually that might have been more enjoyable than debating player restrictive game design decisions.
You want to brainstorm, here is my take on the ideas:
- it’s never a good idea to restrict player freedoms which were already in place
- less convenience or reduction in convenience are very tricky subjects and need to be dealt with very very carefully
- the entire wp and movement system is part of core tyrias design as well as connected to other aspects like world completionYour ideas are basically taking a hammer to a glass window and smahing it when there was nothing wrong with it in the first place.
As Neural said, if you want to not waypoint, don’t waypoint but ride your mount instead. “Problem” solved.
thats your opinion you think my ideas are bad i think the current fast travel system hurts the game more than it helps and should be replaced. it must be so restricting making you traverse the developers world rather than skipping past it all. by not making restrictive designs you can render other content useless examples would be saints row 4 with the super powers which render vehicles pointless.
Having one elite spec at one time is restrictive design but it ensures the previous core specs are still needed. this fast travel system defeats the purpose of having a huge game world when you can just teleport kitten near anywhere you want which destroys the illusion of a big epic world.

Yes it is, especially when I’ll continue to tell everyone how good this system is and explain it to people so they can profit themselves as well. There are those, though, that do not listen or understand and sadly, they are the ones missing out.

Most of this discussion, including your assumption of massive profits accruing to salvagers is nothing but speculation. Many factors could influence profit margins. Lots of people could salvage, and mat prices could tank. ANet could decide they don’t like that and reduce drop rates. Consider that the price of silk has dropped from a high of several silver to below the price for mithril before the latest Legendaries were intro’d.
Alternatively, they could introduce even more massive mat sinks, which might keep profits for sellers high, but might be a negative for people who want what the mat sinks are about.
You can no more predict the future than I can.
thats also what the demo was for too i highly doubt the drop rates will stay the same when the exp pack hits

I disagree, I do find the two ideas comparable, though obviously not exactly the same (I really should have to say that last part). But fine, lets put that to the side.
What about people that don’t have PoF? As Flesh Wound already brought up, anyone that doesn’t have PoF for…whatever reason (money issues, lack of interest, still new, etc.) they’d be up kitten creek without a paddle if your idea was implemented. People would be forced to either buy PoF or abandon the game.
The thing is, absolutely no one is forced to use WPs if they don’t want to (aside from resing, and even that’s not absolute) but we’ve already seen from last weekends Demo that PoF does force the players to use mounts in some places, the story instance in particular.
if there are still like 3 fast travel WP in each map and tons of resurrection WP i dont see how people are screwed so what if people move faster than others thats like some classes having 25% movement increase signet but some classes dont. remember the maps in GW2 arent that big but if you had the to change the WP system to what ever you wanted it to be or would you leave it as is im curious
I don’t care for this idea either. It would really screw over new players, take up valuable dev time when they should be focusing on balancing PoF, and hundreds of pages on the wiki would need to be caught up to date. All that for what gain? To have a ‘feeling’ while traveling the world? Not worth it.
I am looking forward to less waypoints in PoF, and getting more of the experience that you talk about. But that is for the expansion, leave core Tyria out of it. There is nothing stopping people like us from simply ignoring the core Tyria waypoints and traveling from the Grove to Fireheart Rise on our mounts.
the feeling of a game matter most times when a game doesnt make you feel anything when play it you stop playing it but what i wanna know is what system would you make to replace WP dont worry about development time this just for the sake of creating ideas which is all this post is.

Asura Gates and Way Points are both desing, builded and ruled by the Asuras, why one should be better than other for you? We are no paying respect, we are actually paying money because is not free.
If ANet makes the world like a one and big (like in giant) map, how we are going to have Asura gates (emphasis in s) if we just have one giant map? Are going to have something like a bridge betwen the (actually separeted) maps? How about the maps across the ocean? Boats and ships works like WP then scratch that option. Where are you going to place that single Asura Gate? Seems to me points 3 and 4 are one against other.
I feel too many contradictions.

the fourth point was a just a joke i highly doubt they have the technology to have all those assets in one big map. i dont want support for the ideas i want other peoples opinions and ideas for a better system than the wp system which i personally dislike. my ideas in the OP only work if mounts were given to everybody i know.
Ive been seeing alot of “t4 dailies Exp only pots/food” and im like the kitten its T4 its not that hard the CM stuff i understand but regular T4 im not wasting food on that. i just open up my own party allowing everyone so long as they have the AR and at least the defense potion. the ony thing i get mad about in T4 is in nightmare when one person doesnt know how to CC even when told that where i draw the line.

Mounts offer some special abilities, but they don’t seem to offer significant movement speed boost over my normal run speed, as such, trying to justify removing WP’s because we have mounts would be a massive negative.
If you want to run around on your mount, that is fine, you can take further away way points and run over, if that is what you enjoy, enjoy it, but not everyone wants to run everywhere, mount or no mount.
As for what would need to change, personally.. nothing, from what I have seen, the way they were put in does not break the Core game if they were added to it.
If mounts are locked behind an expansion (as they are) then removing wps punishes all who don’t have that expansion. This is a suggestion that ignores all the f2p accounts, new accounts with PoF but without a level 80 and a mount yet, and accounts without PoF.
Pretty much covers why touching anything about the waypoints is a bad thing. While you may have a dislike of the WPs, for a lot of players (I won’t claim they are a majority of the base, but they are by no means an insignificant amount) do like WPs and found them to be a major drawing point.
I’ve been kittening around with BDO on and off (for little other reason than it was on sale for less than a meal at my preferred fast-food joint and the mobility in combat is actually pretty cool) and the complete lack of fast travel and total reliance on mounts means that some sixty odd percent of time online is spent AFKing while your mount moves you to wherever you needed to go (and yer kitten outta luck if there’s a boss event even a short distance away). So no, keep the waypoints the way they are. With the single caveat of finally fixing those waypoints rendered inoperable during the beginning of LS season Two.
mount riding in BDO is nothing like GW2, GW2 is alot more engaging with there mounts and what i meant is to have 2 or 3 WP in the map and a bunch of resurrection WP. the maps themselves arent that big and the reason why BDO’s mount system is so boring is the lack of engagement all you need to do is click on town and nothing else.

The WP system is actually one of my least favorite systems in the game it makes asura gates feel useless and makes the world seem extremely small and unengaging. I had tried WoW and i love the way they do their fast travel system it makes the world feel big, fun to explore and immersive. these are just some ideas i think would be cool to have so mounts feel like they belong in core tyria.

- Reduce the amount of WP in the world.
- Make travel WP and resurrection WP.
Travel WP will be used for fast traveling to the map.
Resurrection WP will be used for resurrecting but only allowing you to resurrect
at the closest WP you’ve unlocked, for added fun make WP locked behind hearts if
there is one nearby. - Make Asura Gates Great Again.
remove all waypoints and have 1 asura gate in each map so when you wanna fast travel to a new map use your mount to run up to a asura gate and press “F”to pay respectsto open up the world map with asura gate icons so you can fast travel to them
4.Make the world one big map(for kittens and giggle impossible with the amount of stuff in a given map and current tech).
I would love to hear what other people think if mounts were to come to core tyria and whether current systems need to change to accommodate, leave them as is or make your own idea for a system in the comments.

You really want more stealth in the game? The most broken mechanic in the game for pvp, you sure you want more classes with it?
lol broken in pvp thats funny, being in stealth doesn’t contribute to contesting a point and remember its conquest not deathmatch but a guess someone who doesn’t know how to play pvp in gw2 would say that also dont forget all the reveals in the game now. if anything is broken its the amount of invulnerability in the game to counter the power creep HoT brought. I also think the amount of invulnerabilities are the reason ESL dropped GW2 because it was bunker builds sitting on point and it was boring as kitten to watch.
The fact that its blob vs blob, aka high amount of players on both sides is fine. That is what this game mode is meant to be.
What is not OK is how its played, aka all the boonshare, all the “be tight as possible”. Aka the more people stack and more tightly they move, the harder they are to kill. Sometimes to so absurd level that they are almost untouchable (if they run good setup on all parties and enemy does not have tons of boon corrupt).
This is what I would change. Make offensive skills more anti-blob. Make the boms, veils, symbols deal more damage to the center, punishing tightly stacked groups more. OR skills with up to 50 targets radius 180-240 dealing more damage to its center the more targets are being hit.
Skills like that that would break the stacking playstyle.
to break the stacking playstyle they could add a form of agony but with this agony you take increased damage for how many people are stacked onto.
The WvW skins could have been unlocked immediately for veteran WvW players from ranks/achievements or bought immediately with existing currencies (Badges of Honor or Proof of Heroics).
Instead the WvW skins are unlocked with pips that are accumulated more easily by veteran WvW players but are time gated for everyone. Pips are already the fair solution chosen by ArenaNet to acquire these items.
except for the 2000 rank you need for the skin which people who mostly been playing in blobs for the past couple of years will get and not roamers. I also think that the pip system doesnt change WvW issues which is the reason for many people leaving like stability not working like it use to, terrible balancing because anet doesnt want to split skill balance for game modes and one that made me stop playing was not being able to revive downed people while in combat. Which makes fights shorter yet the long drawn out fights were the best and the reason many of us played and destroying my medic thief build so i cant fully rez someone from death in stealth.

im more so kittening because i loved playing a backstab thief but its not worth it anymore because i find you can do more damage by using shadowshot twice which sucks because i loved that playstyle. they do some damage but so can any other class and when i play rev i reveal thieves all the time. i love thief its my most played class by like 2000 hours out of either 3000 or 4000 of my total playtime. i also think its a little unfair to these classes to kick them because they play a certain class but thats mostly a design flaw hopefully the new elite specs will have thief benefit a squad though im not sure why ranger gets kicked they can hit you from a range of 1500 and heal people.

and this is why i dont play WvW to much because my favorite class is thief but they are pretty much useless and easy as kitten to kill when i play other classes. with the nerf to backstab and all the reveals in the game which hard counter an entire traitline to the point where no one plays it anymore your better off spamming shadowshot twice than setting up for a backstab. i also believe WvW and PvE need to be balanced separately look what happened to rev they nerfed its boon duration for WvW and it not only destroyed its viability to raids it also destroyed raid diversity.
I love the idea it reminds me of the Halo reach days doing daily story missions for credits. There already is a living world daily category for each map so it could work as well all they need to do is add an expansion tab for expansion dailies and you got yourself an expansion seller too.
As a veteran player who has been around for 4 years I have quite few make gold fast schemes. 100g is nothing but i would never spend that much on a gear set i would rather get armor from reward tracks, HoT maps, dungeons, WvW and raids. For that price you can make yourself an Ascended weapon, save money then get ascended accessories from fractals, then do raids (or get lucky in fractals) and get the ascended versions of what you want. Living world season 3 maps can also get you HoT accessory stats.

My main issue is that there is no real incentive to do anything other than dailies and that pretty much the only thing you see in lfg. you do your daily fractal and dont come back until the next day. the content in fractals i find is more stale than dungeons after playing the same fractals for 4 years it gets pretty boring at least dungeons have many different paths
The whole realization that the Dragons adapt (taking in some of the skillsets of the last) makes me wonder. This probably means Kralk will be the last which is a bummer because I’d have liked to see Primo be the one (he’s the one with the most lore centeralized with him – Alpha and Omega per se’) to last out of all of them. Guess it’ll all depend on how we end up encountering Jormag.
Perhaps Episode 3 will feature Braham breaking the tooth, signaling the end of the Ice Dragon.
Lets also not forget that that earlier Taimi let the name of the Deep Sea Dragon slip (I assume anyways) with the letter “S”.
So it seems at the end of this all, that little baby dragon Aurene is going to turn into an Elder Dragon comprised of all the Elder Dragons. Turning into Guild Wars 2’s very own Veeshan (EverQuest nod there). But it also means whatever Dragon is left standing before that, will be composed of all the other facets. This also hints at looking back at Subject Alpha in Crucible of Eternity to some capacity.
Kral still could be next cause now the glints child is hatched its existence alone could anger Kral enough to start some kitten forcing us to kill him next to save glints baby because thats the child of his lieutenant that betrayed him. i could see it happening too considering the first thing kral did when he first woke up was go kill glint right away.
i would have liked Lazarus to join us but not this way it was too soon i would have preferred it better if we went to him for help as a last resort cause i got to imagine after absorbing the bloodstone which also got magic from a dead elder dragon hes got to be close to rivaling one of them

i also feel genuinely bad when i see a F2P player fight a person who has bought the expansion cause if i couldn’t afford to buy the expansion i probably would have quit and went onto another game
They had also to add MORE Elite Specializzations, as they said. And that, yes, would improve the build diversity.
Anyway actually there’s a lot of build diversity. I belive that only the Necromancer is forced to play condition and the guardian direct damage, all the other classes have meta or good builds for both the damage sources, sometimes mixed. And some have also other builds than dps. For example the guardian have the dps and the bunker, the mesmer have the direct and the condi, sometimes also the supporter with wells. Thief have different good builds to use like the old decapper and the new total dodge builds 8really strong to hold a point, survive for a incredible long time and inflict really good damage).
If you look only metabattle there’s few to none build diversity, if you look at what the players play there’s a lot of build diversity.
i play Necromancer and I can say that there’s different builds that really work (still counting the bottom tier of the necro in this meta). I played with the “meta” symbol build, with a Corruption build (that frequently is better to help the team, with only little lesser boon corruption and damage) and even the minion master build. more or less they have the same focus: boon corruption and +1 player (with the Mm that have better damage with lesser boon corruption, but also spam poison with minion death).
Anyway, the F2P Experience have not to be the best experience of they’re life.
They’re F2P and they Have to Know that if they Buy the game they obtain something Better than what they actually have!Answer me: If you will be able to play at the exact same level of a player that buyed the game, how many reasons will you have to buy the game?
If you’re a F2P you can TRY the game and BUY it if you like.
If you don’t buy it, you will always play a TRIAL VERSION of the game.
first off all we lost alot of build diversity back in the specialization which essentially destroyed alot of builds im not a fan of the specialization i miss the old trait system

Given the thread title, I thought you were going to say ban all people who don’t play like you and who don’t play at prime time…
I thought i would go for a more comedic post to make it somewhat fun to read through for people who may not like the ideas, hopefully it worked and they aren’t too salty.
what about a tournament for edge of the mists i think those games wont burn people out as much due to their short game times and might be kinds interesting.
Forget it. It is nice that people are still trying to give Anet ideas that might actually be good, but seriously, just give up.
Anet is bound and determined to kill WvW.
I have been having way more fun in stardew valley lately and won’t be coming back to GW2 anymore.

they havent really done anything with WvW since the tournament and hopefully if devs see this it would give them some ideas.
i also find the WvW relies a bit on PvE even though its a different game mode because you need to farm and craft armor by doing PvE stuff to have good gear in WvW.
Build templates are a great idea, the Faction stuff is terrible. Most of the rest of the ideas here are tepid at best.
I’m not a big fan of the faction idea but it was an idea so thought i would put it down. i also find one of the biggest problems with WvW is the fact that you fight the same servers pretty much all the time so i think they should like what one of the comments said have dedicated WvW servers but i find that kicking everyone from the servers and renaming them is alot more cost efficient and i believe would bring some fresh air into what would otherwise be stale game mode
Think of it this way. For years they’ve focused on us and the hard core guys have gotten nothing. Content takes time to make. So they are filling in the blanks now. But next month, most likely. the LS begins again, a new fractal is coming, it just can’t all be done at once.
That’s neat and all but they’ve built and established a base of casual players over the course of three years the game literally grew and became a name due to those casual bits.
After waiting so long those that would leave the game over lack of hardcore content have left and those that remain and fought for it would have never left the game regardless after such a lengthy space of time.
Switching it up now doesn’t bring back the ones who grew tired of playing and it doesn’t retain those who spent years asking for it. It does however knock out a good portion of those who flocked to the game during the early years.
There are people that will leave and their are people who will take anything and remain the casuals have been catered to yes over the first three years so they had no legit reason to complain then everything changed for them with HoT. However they are not right now because Anet shifted their focus and experience something they want no part in fo the first time in this game many have left. The longer they are gone the higher chance they won’t return as is the case with anything when someone decides to take a break from it.
pretty much what the hardcore community use to have is dungeons and high level fractals but those arent really hard to begin with also i think the raid team is much more efficient at bringing out content cause the raid content isnt that much compared to a single Hot map but what makes it last is its toughness and at release the casual pve side got 4 new maps with a kitten ton of events might i add and the hardcore got raids which they just finished now. the hard core is just getting what was promised to them like casuals except for legendaries but that effects everyone
This game has never had good pvp especially now with these elite specs. pvp was way better before the elite specs they are pretty much mandatory if you want to win in ranked anyone else remember when a dev said that they weren’t suppose to be better than the main class. I’ve actually stopped playing pvp alot because of the elite specs and anyone who argues that we have more build diversity today than before the specialization patch is delusional
Some of My WvW Ideas
(These ideas might be good or might be bad im not saying this is how things should be)
Server population problems
1. Faction V Faction instead of Server V Server
- Change it from Server vs Server to a Faction vs Faction style WvW where people from all servers choose a faction to join then it pins those faction against each other and they cant change factions with out using gems or until the end of the month where everything should reset and you can choose a new faction to join.(Might be a good chance to make use of those three orders of tyria or it might not lore wise)
2. Shuffle the Servers. (I think this one is more easily achieved let the mayhem begin)
- What i mean by this is kick everyone out of their server, rename the servers then let them back in allowing them to change servers once so they can be with their guilds and provide a one week hiatus so guilds can get together before WvW commences.
- Renaming the servers prevents people from joining winning servers because if you dont they will do this and it will defeat the purpose of the server change.
- Doing it this way randomly distributes players evenly because they dont know which server to join and which one is the good one.
Build Diversity
Easier access to build diversity (which i might be asking for to much)
- Switch builds similar to PvP but instead of having an amulet for a 1 stat items give us a full set of armor with trinkets we can change the stats of any time but with locked stats and runes we unlock through reward tracks. These weapons and armor cant be unequipped and are WvW items only which means like the pvp amulets they cant be taken out of WvW. Doing this provides fun build diversity, a sense of progression by unlocking stats and runes and giving WvW some flavor making it stand on its own without being compared to PvP or WvW.
Miscellaneous
“I Will Build a Wall” (We need to stop them filthy mist invaders from coming over)
- let us build small short walls. placing of these walls would be similar to placing seige but instead of a circle Aoe it would be a rektangle.(lol)
- The walls also shouldn’t be allowed within a certain distance of a keep or tower to prevent base expansion, also prevent wall building on roads to stop supply dolyaks
(although i kinda like this idea). - these build-able walls should be susceptible to rams with as much health as any seige item and should also have slanted tops to prevent people from using them to scale or hop over walls.(there’s a joke here i know there is)
Also bring back old Stability and rezzing people. (I miss those big close range zerg fights and my medic thief /cry all the time)

lol mesmer has no right to complain unless they become nothing but a +1 role that cant 1v1 and can only decap. i dont think a mesmer was ever asked to switch classes for raids after being told their class sucks.
Not for the reasons you think. I absolutely cannot stand shadowstep’s ability to teleport up terrain that is otherwise impassable.
Example: Thief teleporting around the ruins outside the Blue keep in EB. Every other class has to run around and up the stairs… They are unkillable in there because they can teleport up levels and nobody can follow.
Example: Cliffs outside of Green keep/ Along SMC west wall in EB. Every other class has to run around and up… thieves just teleport up instantly.
Example: Middle tower of Khylo… thieves can teleport up and in instantly.
I could go on and on all day.
I don’t give a rat’s kitten if thieves teleport around on flat ground, but this is just stupid. This is fun for precisely nobody but the thieves themselves and is a uniquely bullkitten mechanic.
Don’t worry mate, if thief would only stand a chance in 1v1, he won’t ever port away. But I guess you’re complaining cos you lost an easy kill.
That is the truest thing I’ve read all day.
put 1 dagger into your main hand -> Press and hold 2 -> Character spams heartseeker -> Kill everything -> PROFIT
That was good at launch but now with the power creep of other classes and the godly amount of thief nerfs you dont want to spam just one ability and be caught without initiative cause you will most likely die.
This thread is a joke right. I have many other maxed out classes and thief is the most unforgiving especially in the new HoT. With all the dodging, low health and high mob damage i feel like I’m playing dark souls again, not to mention other classes got a huge power creep compared to thief and actual new mechanics as to apposed to Dare Devil that just gave our old Acrobatic trait line back, the third dodge isn’t new we had it before.

you might be right but we also have the Halloween event going on, people who are starting new toons for revenant and people trying to do new higher level fractals but you still bring up a valid point i too. I would try and do events and find myself the only one doing them, within 2 days of the launch.
While i was in PvE in the new HoT maps i noticed that i wasnt healing off my crits and its not cause my crit chance is too low, i have a 80% crit chance and a 100% crit chance with fury.
I even opened the combat log and the only healing im getting is from signet of malice which heals for 138 per hit and my steal which heals 2000.
is anyone else having this problem?
Edit: It works fine in PvP but in PvE it doesn’t

I am surprised at everyone’s reactions to this post. Right now thief has a niche which keeps it very much alive in the meta. Most thieves though seem to hate only having this niche, and would rather have a different use for their team. The only way they can keep thief balanced overall while being decent in actual combat, is if they can tone down its mobility and disengage while buffing its actual combat abilities.
majority of thieves just want more sustain and have a fair chance in a 1v1. some thieves would like to play player vs player and not player vs cap point

healing power isnt a great stat
thief is dead post HoT reroll to reventant cause even if you run away as a thief a revenant cant catch up to you no problem by spamming phase transversal
nope raids will be nothing but revenants, engis, and druids . reroll to these classes cause odds are they will be most asked for in raids

That doesn’t mean anything those numbers. You probably had a bunch of idiots stand in the two aoe abilities a lot. I’d love to see you in spvp too bad your probably in unranked and hotjoin with the bads. I saw like 3 DH in 50 ranked matches this weekend and I was one of them. There will always be people that will defend crap. Go over to the spvp forum and look at how the average spvp feels about the new elites and see how everyone has DH at the bottom. You are smarter then markets, or the crowd or whatever you call the general consensus, though I got it.
