All they need to do is turn on friendly fire. Then you can leave AoE alone.
You just need some consequence for killing friendlies.
It just seems to me that turning off friendly fire just promotes the mindless AoE zergfests we see in game.
Other than people killing team mates on purpose, is there any argument that Friendly Fire being on would not make WvW much more strategic?

This. One simple change, client side only, scale all race to same height.
I ask because I am thinking of trying another class than my Mesmer. With it, using a great sword and staff it is pretty simple to solo the supply camp if you watch the action and use the bubble on archers.
What other classes solo the supply camp easily? All of them? Or can some not handle it?

I made 19 each off of mithril chlor earrings (x3 + 1 don tix)
Organized WvW is their forte, and they do a pretty good job at accomplishing their objectives even in this environment where people keep coming and going from the game. Adaptable and consistant.
And you can be instant 80 in sPvP on any class if you just want some variety.
Nice to get some extension.
Now if I get power back on my home computer by the 9th as hoped, I might be able to use it.
But no way I can no do the clock tower jumping puzzle, carve the few pumpkins I still needed. At least I got to see the Mad King and run his dungeon 1×.

For those saying devs have better things to do, it cannot take any time at all to let me move abilities around on the hotbar.
Right now, the only constant we have is our heal/elite/utility skills can always be in the same place.
But it would be so nice for example if 5 was always my closer, 2 was always my phantasms, etc. or however i wanted to set it up

You dont even have to go out to get the things to salvage. If you have enough money, just buy the cheapest things on the market and keep salvaging, poof, unlimited achievement points.
Now he does have 100 Explore and other things, so probably has done a lot in the game, just saying you could get it from nothing but salvage.
Would be interesting to see screenshots of his achievements list.

I have the option on that shows count-down till you can use an ability again.
SInce this patch, when I use Port Exit, the timer starts at 46 seconds every time. Nothing else changes, its still only there for 10 seconds.
Just odd. Gonna test and see if i get to 5 seconds left on the entrance, does the timer still start at 46.
People keep complaining about AOE in DE’s
Its easy, drop GS 4 into the pack, that tags a ton, GS 5 tags a ton, Staff 5 tags a ton, and the reflective bubble can tag a ton.
Yes, not as easy as other classes, but we can put out some extreme AOE

For me it was logging out one day by mistake in the area in Malchoir where you fight Lyssa.
I didnt realize it, but I was inside the control point where you have to take down the stone walls.
When I came back, the walls were up, and it was me vs 4 of the kitten flying knights.
It was a blast. Between Decoy and torch 4 (i was torching it at the time) I managed to stay alive indefinitly, while they just kept coming. You have to use dodge like a madman, and have the clones appear when dodging for it to work out, but that was probably my best solo effort. I am not sure another class could have done it, and I know I couldnt have done it in another class.
We got a few changes with todays Halloween Patch:
Mesmer
•Arcane Thievery: This skill now appropriately removes the aegis boon rather than being blocked by it.
•Confusing Images: This skill has been updated to fire at its correct distance.
•Cry of Frustration: This skill’s tooltip now accurately shows that confusion it applies lasts for 3 seconds.
•Mirror of Anguish: This trait no longer functions on necromancers when they have Reaper’s Protection active.
•Phantasmal Warlock: This illusion’s recharge between attacks is now slightly longer.
•Phase Retreat: This skill should no longer teleport players into geometry or other places they shouldn’t be getting into.
•Scepter Skills: Projectile skills for the scepter have had their velocity increased by 33%.
They are very good as is. The problem is everyone wants a glass cannon build, all power, pres, and crit %.
If you keep your Armor rating at 1/10th your total HP, its a good ratio for toughness.
If you actually dump points into healing, suddenly your heals are monster, but noone wants to do that because they they cant do incredible DPS.
Ever think its your IP? Do a tracert to see where its failing?
And he didnt stick his head in WvWvW at all.
Now maybe if he is on Kaineng that woulda been low too at that time of the morning, but there would be someone in there you could assist with some goal.
The whole OP comes out as a whine about, on his current server, there were people online just waiting for him to join them. Free server transfers are still in place if you need to find one with a population at 7:30 am on Sunday mornings.
Scepter doe beat sword in one area though, and it matters, range.
In wvwvw, the range on the scepter lets you put out damage when you can’t switch back to GS yet, and 3 works, though the delay before it starts firing does stink
I’ve got to hand it to PRX in the EB. Their coOrdination and ability to respond to threats is very impressive.

Points go every 15 min, so 3 times an hour, with 695 points total up for grabs, or 2780 per hour or 66720 per day.
So it took a WHILE for there to be a 200k point difference.
I cant see fire being better than 3 stacks of might for 20 sec
Might is 0.375 * Level + 5 = Power and Condition Damage per stack so +105 Power and Damage for 20 sec for each weapon you swap to.
Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)
So it increases damage directly, and condition damage as well.
How can a chance for fire AOE ever X sec beat that?
Keeping your armor rating at 1/10th your hitpoints is a pretty good rule of thumb, whether you do it with toughness trait or toughness in gear.
Toughness does matter in making you less squishy when you cant dodge/blink/decoy
It removes all conditions and gives all boons everytime you use your epic.
The boons are short duration though, like 3 seconds or maybe 4, and the fastest epic i have as mesmer is every 60 sec

The stacks only go away if you zone.
So getting 25 is pretty easy if you go whack 25 things first, then change over to your other set.

The thing you cant do is get stacks of different types, ie power and condition
Recently started going out with GS/Staff x 2.
One set has +10 power per kill on it. So I will use that set till I have the 25 kill cap.
Then I switch over to my set that is more precisions and 3 stacks of might for 20 sec when swap
Orbs are a side issue, they should maybe add to score, not make you harder to kill. Or PERHAPS make it so the keep they are in is harder to sack.
But he free transfers is killing things. A servers rating means ZERO when entire guilds can shift servers weekly, if not daily. It makes the matchups based on ratings pointless, unless you get very very lucky like the SoR battle last week. That was fun, that was exciting, everyone fighting it out till the bitter end.
Now people are farming the grub because its the only place to get anything after you do the jumping puzzle chest.
It has to be time for free transfers to go away, or at least change.
As it is, the rating and matching system is pointless. SoR had a barn burner of a match last week, with the final scores between the three servers within about 5k of each other. This week SoR gained a lot of guilds (that wanted to getaway from queues, understandable) but now has a 300k to 90k to 50k lead. As of yesterday we could have walked away from WvW entirely and the other servers couldnt have caught up.
There have been a lot of suggestions, no WvW for 2 weeks after transfer. Transfers once ever 2 weeks only, etc. But those still will not fix mass free transfers making the ratings system pointless.
Time to go to paid transfers

So I am normally a mesmer, and know it well, and how survivable I can make it.
What is the most survivabilty build with thief, ie, if i kill someone/something, good, but Im definitely going to live doing it?

I personally would LOVE for friendly fire to be on. The game would become SO much more tactical.
AOE fields would become nightmares.
And yes, you catch a spy, you kill him.
Ive always wanted each MMO that launches to set aside one server for Hardcore mode of some sort.
The risk is missing is the problem with all modern MMO. WIthout risk, reward means littles, a brief shiney flash that rapidly fades without making memories.
