Hey everyone I am at a loss and could use some opinions. Its been since beta and finally a precursor dropped. I am now just 1 Gift of Exploration from making The Dreamer. The issue is, while I really want it for my Thief, with the upcoming patch that’s the only character I have that can use it seeing as I don’t have a ranger.

I was considering making it, selling it, and then using the gold from the sale and what I have on my person to buy Twilight, since I have a Warrior, Guardian and Mesmer that would get use out of it.

I THF WvW the majority of my time playing, but when it comes to anything PvE related I find myself falling back on the warrior since you know…its easy(er). Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks.

Hey everyone, I began playing GW2 again this week, now that I am back LA is gone? So I was curious where the new hub is where everyone decides to spend their time just acting a fool. I asked in game but got a crazy amount of random answers.

Thanks in advance.

Thoughts on post 15th Update

in Mesmer

Ares.3619

Hey everyone, I have been looking through these posts and some other sites to see what the mesmers feel about the class after the April 15th update, but it seems too scattered so I was hoping that by asking I can get some answers. (I am recently returning to GW2 and wanted to pick up my mesmer again).

Here are a few of the pointers I’d like some light on.

How will the Crit Damage change (ferocity) affect the Mesmer?

How will the Mesmer be affected with the new way sigils work?

While some classes have some really nice changes like the necromancer to currently skills/traits, the Mesmer seems to be receiving for the most part “bug fixes” what are your thoughts on this?

How do you feel about the new GM Traits?

…To round up everything overall how do you feel the Mesmer will play after the update in each category; PvE, PvP, WvW. Discuss away, the more information the better.

My suggestion since many of us have or are in guilds we enjoy, is to just create a common guild so we can reach out to each other if we need additional group members and such. And since we wouldn’t need this guild for influence reasons, people can stay on their current servers. If you wanted, you could even assign “ranks” to geographic areas – Madison, Milwaukee, GB, Northern, etc. so you can keep tabs where people are from.

I went back and read all of the posts and this is the one that stood out most. I am currently sending out invites to everyone, after that I will make ranks for regions.

EDIT: Invites have been sent out, feel free to join Badgerland [WISC] If you would like to stay in touch with other members from Wisconsin.

Alright sorry guys I was away for the day. I gotta say from what I’m seeing we wisconsinites are all leaders lol. On that note For those of you that are interested in server transfers but have guilds themselves I propose that we all join a guild now (cross server guild) Just to enhance our communications with one another.

Oshkosh, WI here. Wife and me play WAAAAAY to much. We are on Borlis Pass with my small guild. Would consider a server transfer if there is something open I could go too that has a more active group of local players.

So far from those that have posted it would seem that we are scattered every which way, and that no one server contains a large amount of wisconsinites. Other than that I have my small family guild here on Maguuma where like you my wife and I play a lot as well.

Also I will be in Oshkosh tomorrow for some ice fishing /stoked

PSA

Roundabouts: they are not four-way stops, but they ARE intersections—pick a lane and stick with it.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Exactly.

Also don’t forget to add your server information, maybe get some wisconsinite groups running.

The answer to the lower drop rates

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ares.3619

Ares.3619

A theory: Loot tables are dynamically adjusted per day and per character.
Analysis: If each day the loot tables are adjusted, then your luck is predefined for the whole day. This explains the lucky/unlucky for a whole day phenomenon. A lucky day would be defined by a reduction of the drop rate% of yellow mats from each person’s loot table. An unlucky day would mean the exact opposite.

Your theory sounds like more trouble than its worth. How many games do you know have a changing loot table per character? Its easier for developers to create worldwide percentages. Also if the loot system was pre defined after farming for an hr and getting nothing one would assume that the next 23hrs were going to be kitten as well. “Pre-Defined RNG” doesn’t make sense.

GW2 and the VGAs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ares.3619

uhmm… there is more GOTY awards then just what the crap show VGA’s hands out.

This is a good point to bring up, would you happen to know where they received their GOTY award from?

Also about the who even cares about the VGAs (referring to another poster), there are plenty of people most importantly those that were nominated for their hard work in creating a game. GOTY awards also provide information about games that were enjoyed by the masses in certain categories which in return helps that person who is in a bind about buying a game and only has the money for one.

GW2 and the VGAs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ares.3619

I like GW2 and still play yadda yadda yadda…

…But there was something I’d like to point out. When you visit the GW2 homepage a pop up comes up promoting their Digital Deluxe and Wizard Hat, underneath it says

  1. RPG of 2012, which according the the VGAs this year the title is held by Mass Effect 3 (don’t get me started on how they even won this).

The point still stands that while GW2 was nominated it didn’t win so…

Why is ArenaNet falsely advertising?
Is there some rule I’m missing like, if your nominated you get to state that you are?
Does this effect the way you feel about Anet?

Maybe video games fall into the same category as restaurants where you can claim that they have the world’s best food (when you know its frozen bought) just to lure people in. Anyways this is all for the sake of discussion. Oh yeah Congrats Anet for the nomination.

Keep it civil to ensure the longevity of this topic

GW2 team has still not unlocked reserved names and now were missing out even more...

It shouldn’t come to this but if you want the name so bad, delete your GW1 character, wait 24hrs, and create in GW2.

inb4 But I/He/She has so much progress done that would now be gone.

Sorry, like I said that’s something you shouldn’t have to do but you also shouldn’t have to wait 3 months.

I HATE Heart Quests

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ares.3619

Ares.3619

I doubt they will ever take away a map from a game since even in real life people just don’t venture into the unknown without some idea of where they are going. Everything else you mentioned Calae sounds like Elder Scrolls Online. (though I suppose they’d have mounts as well)

I HATE Heart Quests

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ares.3619

Ares.3619

While I understand why they added heart quests (which was mentioned by the devs to be a way to help players who are use to quest hubs in other mmos integrate into GW2) I also hate heart quests reasons being…

-They take longer than most DE’s to complete, sometimes an annoyingly long repetitive objective.

-Most heart quests you actually fight for resources against other players.

With the first reason you could argue that there are multiple ways to complete a heart quest but the objective that fills the bar the most is often the most tedious and the easier objectives, usually the ones that don’t require you to kill anything fill only a sliver at times.

TL:DR
I don’t like them either but you only have to do them once.

What's the new Karma Cap?

525k was just for the obsidian shards, you needed another 500k or so for the mystic clovers

Ah gotcha, I just went back and reviewed the legendary guide and noticed that you actually use the shards for clovers as well. Oh well more karma to grind I suppose.

Is the Personal Story goodie bag fixed?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Ares.3619

Ares.3619

That’s a bit disappointing IF its their fix, considering 100% a level 80 zone gives you 2 exotics and 100% map completion gives you gifts used for legendaries. The point being it seems like the “end” of everything else rewards better than your personal story, I’d most likely just salvage the exotics for globs anyways but its kind of the principle for completing something.

If anyone has any other rewards they would like to mention, maybe zero was just unlucky?

Is the Personal Story goodie bag fixed?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Ares.3619

Ares.3619

Shortly after players started completing their personal story an issue was brought up where the reward bag was handing out level 20-40 blues. A dev posted last month under the bug section of the forums that this was not intended and that the rewards would be properly adjusted. So my question is, has the goodie bag that you receive upon completing your personal story fixed or should I still hold off completing the final mission on now 3 of my characters?

Curious about fixes. (SP Talk)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ares.3619

Ares.3619

This isn’t an angry rant and if SPs aren’t fixed for another week I’ll be patient. I am however curious and would like some help understanding on what goes into fixing a bugged skill point. Currently there are skill points that are bugged that are reported daily by players, sometimes multiple times by the same character so it is likely that between all the reports sent from in game to the bug section on these forums, the devs are aware of this issue.

(Specific SPs are not listed because that would then make this topic better suited in the bug report section, were I would rather it be here and have a civil discussion about it to help divert other players from creating harmful topics if we could perhaps get a response on the inner workings."

Once again this topic isn’t about “fix it now” as it may honestly not be a high priority on the totem pole but once again really just a question of what goes into fixing a skill point besides a server reset?

So far from reading the forums Devs have since release, altered the game in the forms of dungeon fixes by tweaking events within and by switching how items are obtained (ex; removing butter and chocolate from karma vendors and switching them to the bags dropped from various mobs).

These Devs have been vocal on mentioning why the fixes were done and why they were needed. I believe that fixing a SP is between the difficulties of making a dungeon event preform differently than it was originally and resigning where an item is obtained.

Any input is welcome.
