i know im late the party here, but i just came back from a hiatus of GW2 and this camera issue was the first thing i noticed, i cant play my norn with it as messed up as it is.
the camera position, for the norn female at least, feels wrong. it’s just too high, it used to be centered on her shoulders, but now its over her head. if you uncheck “adjust to character height” i’m looking at her stomache when zoomed in and can’t see her face at all. if it is checked i can’t see anything below her elbows when zoomed in. i just cant bring myself to play my norn female characters anymore because of this, its heartbreaking.
i zoomed in all the way for these. the first screen is without “adjust to character height” checked. i seem to remember the camera going higher up than this, shoulder height. the second screenshot has the option checked, and the camera is now centered seemingly over her head. the camera height slider is nearly useless at this distance as it looks like it’s only meant to work for zoomed out.
it is quite possible that i’ve missed something incredibly simple, i am not a smart man. but i feel like the camera was inbetween these two extremes when last i played and the new options are very unhelpful. again thanks for listening and helping, i know you guys have other things you could be doing :)
I’ve tried both of these things already. “adjust to character height” makes it so I can only see my character from the elbows up, and resetting to defaults just resets them to the new default. I appreciate you guys reading through and responding though :P
hello everyone, i’ve just returned from a long hiatus back to GW2 in order to see what has changed in my absence. something immediately grabbed my attention, my norn’s camera was centered on her stomache. while this afforded me a stunning view of her abs, it left her face completely off camera when zoomed in. i checked my options and there are some new controls for the camera, adjust to character height: perfect. only it wasn’t perfect, it centered the camera on her head meaning she was out of camera from the waist down unless i zoomed really far out. the camera height slider proved useless as it really didn’t change much. i feel like the old camera was centered on her shoulders, is there currently anyway to get that back? i seriously don’t think i can play my norn characters like this.
i too suffer from altoholism, i have 9 char slots, 2 warriors, 2 engi, a mesmer, a necro, a thief, a guardian, and i just deleted a ranger i wasnt playing for an elementalist….i think i may have a problem lol
removing the town clothes was pointless and stupid, and it would take more convincing than Anet is willing to do to convince me otherwise. they havent given us anything new in so long id almost say no one works there anymore if i didnt know better. no new classes, no new races, no new weapons for the current classes nothing in almost 2 years.
i would settle for petless ranger, or new weapon sets for classes. like off-hand pistol for warriors
getting rid of town clothes was a foolish mistake, it is a change that is pointless and serves no purpose whatsoever. if a player is willing to put up with the clipping and enjoy the armor they chose then the devs shouldnt step in and say “no you cant do that cuz we dont like how it looks”
the human female’s greatsword stance is realistic and on par with an actual sword stance.
so the ranger pet is classified as a weakness? while i dont disagree and would pay a large sum of my money to never see my ranger pet again, i still cannot understand the thinking behind making a class and then strapping an unnecessary ball-and-chain on it. if the pet is a weakness then what is the point of it even existing? it serves no purpose but to drag you down.
I updated the game today(5/1/2013) and decided to make a new character, in this case a charr. once done i dropped into the tutorial zone as per the norm and my game crashed. no problem it happens from time to time so i load up and try again, again i get a crash. it happened 3 more times and i still havent been able to take more than a few steps in the tutorial area without my game crashing. i am writing this both to a.) ask if anyone else is having this problem, and b.) bring awareness to the issue so i can be fixed. if anyone has any additional information im all ears.
the univeral multi tool kit which the engineer may chose to start with, is in my opinion the best looking back option for the engineer. that said, ever since the game went live there has been a clipping issue if you wear this kit back piece and use a tool kit such as the flamethrower. the multi tool kit correctly disappears when you first equip the skill kit, but then reappears after using a skill in the kit, causing you to be wearing 2 back kits at the same time, very unattractive i feel. as i said this was not a problem in any beta and has only been doing this since the first day the game went live. i hope you look into it soon cuz i would like to be wearing my multi tool kit again, but not if it is clipping through my other kits.
broken on Maguuma as well.
so A-Net said they were working on fixing the previewing ‘problem’, and this is what they came up with? now we can only preview one type of armor at a time. i never understood what was so broken about it in the first place that it had to be removed, but it seems that no one in anet understands the argument at all. the idea is to mix/match armors in the preview window for fun and entertainment, so i dont know why you would chose to limit that. i can only hope that this is simply a step toward getting it back to how it used to be but as it stands, i am terribly disappointed.
thank you A-Net for reading your forums and listening to your player base, it has become a rare thing these days. and thank you for your response dev.
mister jonpeters, i very much so hope you are not just trying to shut us up lol. that being said i appreciate your response.
i have already posted here a few times, but i am stiff baffled by the fact that with all the other glaring issues in the game, they chose this “problem” to overreact on. bring back previewing.
its intentional unfortunately. it is also insane unfortunately.
i would like to know how they thought that this change was a good idea. the shear inconvenience of not being able to preview is staggering.
we have to keep telling them how ridiculous this change is so that maybe, just maybe, they will get the hint. so far only one post on the subject has reieved dev attention. we are going to need them to take more notice than that.
my suggestion to make the game better—bring back cross-class armor previewing.
its just unfortunate to see arenanet making such decisions. i just cant understand the necessity of removing it entirely. in the back of my mind i keep thinking that maybe they removed it until they can fix the glitching thing, but even that doesnt make any sense.
im gonna have to agree with the OP
it was recently confirmed in another post that the bug which makes us unable to preview armor that a given class cannot actually equip is in fact a ‘fix’ that is working as intended. the reason given was that there was a graphics issue. you know the one, it made your textures on your boots or something invisible only in the preview window and was fixed as soon as you previewed another piece of gear. to ‘fix’ this glitch they completely removed the feature altogether. its like removing someone stomach to fix a stomach virus, it just doesnt make any sense and isnt helping in the least. my suggestion is thus, forget the glitch it wasnt hurting anyone and just bring back cross-class previewing. thank you for your time.
@Arimik, Generally aesthetic as far as I know. Like texture maps applying themselves in places they shouldn’t be, on armors you’re not previewing. As well as lots of clipping of course. I liked being able to see them too, but I can understand why that decision was made. If you have ideas or features you’d like to see I’d say post em on the suggestion forum. I can’t promise it would be implemented, but the more people who say they want something the better!
i appreciate your response and you have renewed my faith that these are being read. but if this reason is the image issue i saw from time to time while previewing, the fix was simply to clear the preview or preview another piece of gear. this change is unreasonable.
this isn’t funny a-net. all that talk about looking at was wasn’t fun in mmo’s that you were going to change and then you go and do something like this.
bring back cross-class armor previewing A-Net. its kind of a big deal.
alexandra, im sure it is not your fault, so excuse me for being so angry. but wtf? this is the kind of thing that the phrase “nerfing fun” came about for. you took something harmless and fun and removed it. i thought i got away from this kind of crap when i stopped playing blizzard’s games. were the ‘graphics issues’ in question game-breaking to the point where they crashed the client? or was it just clipping on the models being previewed? i would like to know and hear a justified reason.
if this is intentional, it reeks of something blizzard would do. a senseless disabling of aesthetics. but since weapons are not affected, and some of the people on my server are not having this issue i can only assume its a bug and will be fixed with all due haste. if it is not fixed with all due haste anet, you will have lost my respect.
i to, am having this issue, but some people in map chat were not. i dont believe this is intentional for that reason. i think anet just goofed (again) and will either work to fix it quickly or ignore it. hoping for the best, expecting the worst
