I’ve been an on-and-off again player since beta, and have convinced my girlfriend to join our wonderful GW2 world.
I’ve been on Tarnished Coast since the beginning, and while it’s a great server, it’s always full. So it’s been impossible for her to join, and as I think about it I’ve grown much more casual with WvW over the years, so a lower tier server that is more roamer friendly would be a nice change. I’ve been reading about the server merges and I’m not sure how that affects things.
We are very casual players and friendly atmosphere and lower intensity WvW would be our preference. Can anyone make a recommendation?

Great reply! Though tbh I’m less interested in the score or who “wins” and far more interested in being able to coordinate multiple small or medium sized groups and have it achieve something. Right now the server that gets more people in (and kudos to them, truly) and the biggest zerg wins. Strategy is nearly nonexistent.
I’m attending a family reunion this weekend, and got to witness both sides of a server match up. My cousins play on Sanctum of Rall, and I play on Tarnished Coast. We stayed up all night in WvW, playing with our respective guilds and talking strategy.
SoR plays by the “get as many into wvw and run the biggest furball” strategy, which is what Anet encourages, based on the current way to win WvW.
TC typically has far fewer players in WvW at any given time. So by necessity we typically have high levels of coordination and much discussion of tactics, etc.
Watching the match up from behind the scenes, it was interesting to see how, with Anet’s current state of WvW, sheer numbers totally obliterates skill and planning.
Hopefully this is something Anet is wanting to change in the future, though I’m not sure how they’d go about it.
Until they make it more strategically effective to run in smaller groups than to zerg, WvW is just not as much fun for me… though like a lemming with a head injury I keep trying…
I’m looking for a very high survivability build for WvW for my son who is a new player and needs something very forgiving while he learns the ins and outs of WvW. Soldier set looks attractive but I’m reading that it doesn’t synergize well for guardians. I like the builds I found that are running all shouts ankitten ot especially concerned about his dps.
Any suggestions?
My guild, like many, has dwindled since launch and while we used to be large and active, now there’s rarely more than a handful of people on at a time.
As a player, I enjoy all aspects of the game…PvE, WvW, Crafting, Exploring. I like to RP while playing, but don’t really get involved in RP-specific events. I’m friendly and always seeking to help the needs of the many over the needs of the few.

Argh I’m in the same boat. I logged in today to finish up my October monthly, and when I checked my progress, saw that it was November??? It’s Halloween! Halloween isn’t in November!
