Yup, I did this multiple times at the NW area. I tried a few times from the Wyvern Patriarch after I posted this just falling and not touching my keyboard (20 seconds).
It just won’t trigger for me. Perhaps it was broken recently? The only thing I can think of is with the introduction of gliding they could have messed with what they consider “fall”. I don’t activate gliding for all my runs.
So I’ve been trying to get the Aerated Ooze for a while now. I looked up to see where people were jumping and found:
Dry Dock Grotto in Silverwastes as a good place. I’ve fallen off here for more than 10 seconds WITHOUT gliding multiple times.
I also tried in Verdant Brink going upward to 14 seconds in places. I cannot get this. I even used the Mystic Chromatic Ooze buff timer to time myself.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong… but i’ve tried this for more than half an hour with no success.
Sure, let’s assume that really is the case with this, then they should be changing the old runes to account for this. It’s misleading and makes people think “Hey we can totally use these runes! They probably changed it to be normal stats so runes like Divinity work on them!”. Alternatively, it’s just straight up confusing for newer players. What defines “all stats”. There’s no difference.
There’s so many things in terms of crafting and gear that they have just completely forgot to balance or fix. This is just one of them.
So I find it a bit misleading that runes such as Divinity, Traveler, and I would assume even some of the new runes like Rune of Leadership which grant + to all stats don’t actually do that. Specifically, they do not give you any of the new stats: Expertise and Concentration.
Why even convert these into new stats that seem to resemble the original stats, if we’re not going to have them benefit from +all stats runes? Also, it’s a bit confusing overall. I think there needs to be either a change to make these runes work with the new stats or change the rune descriptions.
Ok then, I say do that and reduce the HP you gain down to one per HP like in Tyria. Then spread 10 of them around per HP they nerf like that. Have fun.

Why does anyone care that we whine? People are unhappy with the name, so we voice our opinions.
The fact still stands, the whole theme of the Dragonhunter has yet to be shown. Still no lore, still no feel. It’s all clunky. No where near the level of “Witch Hunter” or “Demon Hunter” in any way. This is especially true after playing in the first BWE.
Heart of Thorns will bring my friends back together to adventure in Tyria! I can’t wait for my guild to get owned by Poobadoo again!
You’re comparing a bunch of non-elites to an elite skill. What you’ve outlined as a fix is hilariously under-powered with or without traiting. Of course they did this calculation before they put this out into the wild. They probably intended this uptime to create builds like this for the meta.
What needs to be fixed isn’t FMW. Instead elite skills like Time Warp that are on par with the rest of the elites need to be buffed. Halve the time it takes to recast Time Warp and increase the duration a bit IMO. In fact, elite skills in general need to all be buffed up to FMW and RF levels. There are currently only a handful through all classes that are any good.
Elites should feel elite like FMW and RF. Every elite should be awesome and enable builds to be created around this.
The only time this becomes a problem is if this skill becomes the greatest thing for every gaming aspect (i.e. PvP, WvW, PvE, roaming, world bosses). Thus far it has proven itself in dungeon PvE and that is all. With that, it’s still hilarious because there are many other group combinations that clean house in dungeons WITHOUT an elite.

The video is showcasing the fact that Symbolic Avenger is currently bugged to stack with itself. Every symbol laid down adds another 10% to your damage, instead of just a flat +10% when the target is in a symbol.
I’m honestly much more baffled at their inability to catch the grenades bug before the patch went live. One grenade throw into the golem cluster in HotM shows you exactly how they are broken.
Pretty much this. I don’t see a problem with anything else in the video other than this being bugged as hell. Everything else seems like any other class could accomplish a similar feat (if not better) with might stacking, persistent fury, and raw damage.
So I agree and disagree.
I think Anet actually gave something of value to veteran players. 10 dollars == character slot. So effectively we’re paying 40 dollars + 10 more for a slot forced on us.
Destiny/Bungies offer is a class item that… really is it worth it? I played Destiny extensively up until the horribad Crota expansion and every step of the way that company disappointed me. This fix for their DLC and bad PR doesn’t even seem like it’s worth it. Then their veteran players will get “some VIP stuff”. This just seems like trying to stop the fire before it rages out of control.
The only thing Bungie has up on Anet is the heartfelt apology. That’s it. The DLC “stuff” is still insulting. This isn’t the first time they’ve messed up. Every step of the way they seem to constantly do this. At the very least Anet has quickly addressed many issues.
So honestly? I’d rather take something that’s actually worth the money I’m spending rather than “stuff”.
Also…. is this suddenly a new trend in the game industry suddenly? Crappy marketing and bad pricing models? Are they outsourcing to the same business analysts or something?

So here’s the new information:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3avbrp/current_images_for_all_elite_specializations/
Data mined names:
Warriors → Berserker
Engineer → Forge
The unknown is Thief and Revenant
The unannounced but confirmed is Tempest
So yeah, still feel like we got shafted.
Yup I agree. I really like the human female or the Charr animations. They just look so powerful. I feel… like I’m trying to do a half split while going to the bathroom when I use Renewed Focus or Empower.
So… I’m generally not too concerned with the changes coming in for guards… but I am a bit confused about the Honor line. Pure of Voice is pretty awesome here and the other traits are pretty decent.
What I don’t get are the Adept traits…
- Invigorated Bulwark: Gain increased healing power, each worth up to 50 attribute points (based on effective level) for a period of time each time you block an attack while wielding a mace. Stacks up to 10 times. Mace abilities have 20% reduced recharge.
- Protective Reviver: Activate a shield of absorption when you begin reviving an ally (24 second internal cooldown). Upon successful revival, you and each ally gain aegis, protection , and regeneration for 10 seconds.
- Protector’s Impact: Create a symbol of protection when you take falling damage. You take 50% less damage when falling.
I don’t usually plate with mace nor do I block often, but I do love me some shout increases, Selfless Daring, and some Staff fun…. but if I am being forced to take an adept trait… I see the following problems:
- Invigorated Bulwark – I don’t use a mace often… and most of the benefits are really “meh”
- Protective Reviver – I’ve never even traited this. It might be good for SPvP I hear, but why would I use this in PvE or anything? I don’t want to randomly knockback mobs from an AOE cluster when I’m trying to rez a teammate real quick. I also don’t want to randomly knockback a boss when we’re all stacking and I’m rezzing… I mean I guess with HoT coming out there might be some use for this as combat is supposedly more “movement based”.
- Protector’s Impact – Good for JPs and running away in WvW I guess?
So it pretty much feels like a wasted Adept trait choice? Am I wrong?

Alternatively, they could have used another language (less common) and went with that. Dragonhunter just doesn’t sound at all intimidating… especially the theme they’re going after.

Say what you will about borrowing ideas from other games and worlds, but after looking at the new Pathfinder: Adventure Card Game, Wrath of the Righteous and seeing:
http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Imrijka
and her class “Inquistor”
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advanced/baseClasses/inquisitor.html
I just don’t see why the elite specialization couldn’t have been more understandable to your average fantasy crowd and less “high fantasy”.
Just looking at the skills and hearing the name “Inquistor”, everyone knows this is a class that should not be messed with.
And that specific character is bow wielding holy archer that hunts down her enemies.
No matter what the justification is, it’s much less work to just have a name and theme that makes more sense to your casual crowd. I’ve asked a fair number of my friends who played GW2 and took a break what they though. Super casual players who are very into fantasy settings. They were like “What? A guardian? You mean like the paladin, protector, holy knight class? They’re becoming like an archer Dragoon?”.
It’s just confusing. Again, I will re-iterate, there better be some crazy amount of lore involved to justify the name and the theme. Chapels, orders, NPC interaction, dialogue, Braham going crazy and just killing anything dragon.
Sadly I don’t trust the lore (especially in regard to class specifics) to justify the name.
My vote is for the Inquisitor, which has been suggested already in this thread.

The Euro-centric perception of mythology in this thread is incredibly depressing. There are quite a lot of legends with knight-like figures using bows or traps and mystical energy.
Yes, the name takes a little getting used to in the context of existing lore. I, for one, am going to get used to it and get on with enjoying the game. I invite you join me.
Honestly, it’s hard to get used to it because it doesn’t sound like it fits any lore related to a “guardian” type. Even the presentation of the class itself in the videos feel out of place. Again, it’s like they mashed two concepts into one last minute. Most of the skills are Guardian-centric in theme and name. Then you have a few skills and the specialization name that are just out of place. The reveal video itself just makes them feel “meh”. Completely not even like a “Witch Hunter” or a “Knight”. This whole theme just feels sloppy. You look at the other two reveals and the Druid clips and you already feel a theme that works well.
I think the ONLY way I’ll accept this name is if there is heavy lore IN the game for this. That is, I want Dragonhunter Chapels, I want a crusade formed of solely of the Dragonhunter Order, I want them to be the next Pact replacement, I want “Dragonhunters” to be torturing Sylvari to get information out of them, I want them to be literally exactly like Witch Hunters or Demon Hunters who will blindly purge all dragon-related minions without a care whether they’re innocent or not… this is their hunt, their crusade. I want the whole tone of the class throughout the whole HoT storyline to feel like Dragon minions should be scared to death hearing the name “Dragonhunter” uttered. That is when I’ll accept the name. That is when I’ll accept that it’s awesome.
Thus far, I have yet to see Arenanet execute on anything this involved with classes since GW1. The classes and GW2 barely have any lore related to it, and so the name itself is the most defining “theme”.
So as long as they execute IN GAME (not some blog post or presentation video), I will accept this name. Until then, this is all sorts of a mess and sloppy execution in almost every way thematically.

So I loved a lot of the skills and where they were going with the Dragonhunter in many ways. It fills a lot of what is missing current with the Guardian.
WITH THAT SAID THOUGH… the theme is just all sorts of a mess. During the PAX Dev interview, they had said that the Guardian specialization would be a “Crowd Pleaser”. I still can’t comprehend that random bit of hype after seeing the reveal.
A LOT of people on this thread thought it would be something like the Paragon. Now, I actually was hoping they didn’t come out with a Paragon class until we visited Elonan areas. But then they released the concept art:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Dragonhunter_concept_art.jpg
At that point I was like “eh whatever even if this isn’t Elona”. I was ALL IN on the hype train that it would be the Paragon or a spiritual successor.
And in many senses it is:
-Long range attack
-Long range support
-Wing attack
-Spear of Justice that seems like you could spec to use it as a pretty decent attack
And then you have a bunch of stuff that just doesn’t make any sense. Like they mashed two themes together last minute.
The most disappointing part of the reveal is that the theme does not fit (yes this a game about cosmetics and looking cool so yeah theme matters). That and this was just hyped really poorly…
Let’s go back and see why some people thought this would be more “Holy Warrior of Light” and less “Hunter of Dragons”.
-They stated this would be a crowd pleaser so people expected something from GW1 or at least something that was just awesome.
-The concept art revealed had wings.
-GW1 Paragons have very similar wings: http://images.mmorpg.com/images/galleries/full/512007/ca2f9eea-c006-4be6-8ebe-3a3d38b26f07.jpg
-Everyone got it in their heads on Monday of the reveal week that this would be the Paragon or similar.
Instead, that morning, everyone got a reveal of a really poorly made video of a guy who is in Draconic armor… poorly modeled bow and gloves… shooting a giant beast for no real reason other than “it was around”…. whose skills scream “Guardian” with the exception of 2-3 traits…. and call him the “Dragonhunter”. None of that makes sense. And this… after the awesome Chronomancer trailer with the awesome look. And then the even more awesome Reaper trailer.
And then the random hyping… Why even bother with the Wings and to obviously hype up a “crowd pleaser” if it isn’t one?
It’s like someone half-way through development decided to say “we need another theme! I don’t care if it doesn’t make sense! I want an awesome Dragonhunter dudebro and to make a joke about Big Game Hunting!”.

I am in a guild that does guild mission with roughly 15 people a week. We have been successful in doing T1 bounties for about 18 attempts. The only failures we’ve had are with these two targets. Does anyone have any advice on how to tackle them?
We have no problem scouting, the problem is we just cannot DPS them enough to actually kill them. We also split up to do bounties into groups two groups of 7-8 so scaling isn’t too much of an issue.
Diplomat Tarban: Seems to kill us too fast even with auto attack off and a decent about of coordination. Any specific tips as to how to avoid getting stacks of confusion from him? I’ve watched a few videos but most of the guides are just mass zerging the guy which isn’t an option for our small group. We have a fair amount of condition removal but we just cannot kill him on time with the amount of stopping and starting combat we have to do when we get 25 stack of confusion.
Half-Baked Komali: How do you get rid of his fire shield? Most of the guides are for before he got nerfed. We stopped atuo attacking and just used CC to attempt to knock him out of his fire shield like every guide said but the shield just won’t disappear… We pretty much failed him twice now.
Any experts have any advice?

Let me give you this link, it will explain some things about statistics.
Large data sets aren’t necessary?
In a roll where certain events can happen 1/1,000 of the time (Source: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lost_Orrian_Jewelry_Box/Drop_rate. All the lodestone are 0.1% or lower) you think 83 rolls is enough to get an accurate distribution? Are you serious?
I was going to respond, but thanks Ursan.
You would need a much bigger dataset to confirm that this actual was an actual “nerf”. 380k(assuming you rechugged) karma is what? Next to 83 boxes.
To accurately see if this is actually the case as opposed to RNG: You’d have to do a test like:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1bs9ki/for_boredom_8071700_karma_spent_on_1774_lost/
or
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/188dll/just_spent_1405436_karma_on_lost_orrian_jewelry/ (still not too big of a sample TBH.)
The 1 lodestone and 7 obby shards you got sounds just a little below what it normally is. Funny thing is before I saw this thread, I just went on my thief and blew all 40k karma on 9~ boxes and got 3 shard and a bunch of junk.
RNG will be RNG sometimes. I’m planning on spending about 3 million karma (with full karma boost modifiers so I’ll be getting even more than just 3 million after rechug) in a week and a half, i’ll let you know if it actually is nerfed (even then I could just be having horrible luck).
(edited by ArkisTruefire.1746)
My guild is roughly 6-10 active players. Most of them couldn’t make it to our first guild missions tonight.
Myself and a guild leader both shelled in 20 gold each plus about 15 gold in donations from other players to unlock AoW5 + Guild Bounty Unlock. While that was a hit in our wallet, we really wanted to play guild bounties and it made us extremely happy to be able to play with our friends again( a few logged on just to check this out).
They’re actually super fun, it made a lot of the less active people want to play more. We did three guild training missions tonight to warm up. We had done one in the middle of last week just to test it out with 6 people and it was fine. Tonight, we did two of the training bounties with 5 people and then one with 6. The battles were fairly easy and really fun.
The problem we struggled with was scouting. With so few people we were unable to cover that much area, especially when it came to bounties like Prisoner 1411 or Devious Teesa. We almost didn’t find Devious Teesa.
Even if we yelled on map, we only got one real reply all night and we had already found the bounty when they told us.
My suggestion is to get rid of some of the bounties that have longer paths from T1 bounties and make T2-T3 ones have a higher chance to use the longer path bounties.
It’s like MaxLothor says, this can be doable. However it will be quite hard depending on the mob with 6 people. Scouting is an issue and luck on getting the right bounties with small paths plays a huge factor in success for smaller guilds. And yes, we were using dulfy’s fantastic guide, even though I wish there were more in-game hints to find the mobs (like random NPCs you can ask about the mobs, tracking skills for guilds, etc. etc.).
Also, we were happy we were able to do one real bounty, but we ended up failing it. We were able to find the first bounty but we simply did not have enough scouting power (with 6 people) to nab the second bounty. We were still happy that we got our reward, but I can see it being frustrating eventually if we want to get some merits.
My only other complaint is the fact that I need 70k more influence to get guild treks at this point. Our guild isn’t super large, we’re active, but it still seems like a crazy amount after we spent so much on just bounties. We’d like to be able to progress at a reasonable rate. It would be nice if there were other “training” missions similar to bounties that may reward less influence but still gave us something to do and make it feel more varied. I can see doing just bounties will eventually bore us.
tl;dr
Guild bounty trainings are perfect, real guild bounty missions (T1) can be punishing for groups of 6, and influence is still hard to come by still/not varies enough (add treks/rushes… and maybe a training JP for more influence or variety of stuff to do).
(edited by ArkisTruefire.1746)
Lol are you on right now? NSP attacking our keep from one end, Henge preventing reinforcements on the other side.
It’s funny that a small guild such as my own of 7-8 people is having a hard time, and will continue to have a hard time even with these training missions.
I mean let’s look at this guild:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Destiny%27s_Edge
From the lore. Count the number of people. 6. Minus one. I guess Destiny’s Edge isn’t going to be doing Guild Missions either lol.
Yup same here. I quit the game for a bit. Got my Sunrise in December. Came back after last months patch…
Still isn’t fixed. I mean there are bigger fish to fry but it would be nice to pay some attention to something so glaring, especially since it’s been acknowledged for so long…
I’ve been doing CoE for a little over a week now keeping track of the chests opened. 75 chests opened (24 paths), I have gotten 4 cores, 1 Lodestone. The rate is most likely the same as the other dungeons, however the difficulty and time it takes to get to those chests are not the same. But hey, I admit this is not too big of a sample size. I will keep running it because I would rather do that than farm Sparks.
If you’ve done that many runs Bartho, you should know that HoTW Path 1 and Path 3 usually take less time than CoE Path 1 or Path 2. You also need to couple this with the fact that it would seem that nothing in CoE drops Charged Cores/Lodestones on their own from what I can see (please correct me if I am incorrect). Whereas in HoTW you get a lot of Corrupted creatues attacking you. I have had 2 Corrupted Lodestones drop through Icebrood creatures whereas I have not experienced a Charged Lodestone drop from any creature in CoE (and I run that a lot). Add that to the fact that even with gw2lfg.com it’s still hard to find a group for CoE than most other dungeons. With all three points above you have then a Lodestone that is much harder to obtain than the other Lodestones.
If you average 2 cores on 3 paths on average then kudos to you, because I must be unlucky as Karpuz. Seriously run CoE repeatedly because you’ll get rich with the amount Cores/Lodestones currently are.
Edit: I’ve also noticed that I get a ton of more Molten Cores than any other core. I wasn’t keep track of Molten Cores because CoF is a quick 40 minute run (sometimes faster), but the past week alone has yielded 8 Cores… at least the ones I see in my sell record history. So it could very well be different rates in different dungeons but it could also be RNG. I should probably start keeping track. But it also explains why Molten are at such a low price: easy dungeon to farm, a lot of people running the dungeon, perhaps increased rate at which it drops, and not as many recipes as charged.
(edited by ArkisTruefire.1746)
Eh, who knows just be patient IMO. For all we know once it reaches to LA it’ll be like any other dungeon daily. Seeing as he’ll only stay in each town for one day we won’t even know if it’s a daily or not until he reaches LA.
I’m thinking it’ll be like Fractals of the Tixx where you have 5 portals to enter for your dailies lols.
Certain dungeon rewards seem slightly unbalanced. CoE for example takes a very long time to complete, sometimes even with a competent group especially in the case of Path 3 with the destroyer. Not to mention the risk is higher than say AC or CoF with less reward. Rewards should either be increased or certain lengthy aspects of it need to decrease in time (e.g. cut Subject Alphas health, cut the Destroyer’s health).
Yup! I definitely agree with that mentality. I should be able to do the aforementioned activities/events and get 2-3 gold and get 1-2 Lodestones just by doing that on a night when I don’t feel like making a ton of gold and just want to have fun. Maybe even do this on an alt or two.
@Shizzlenit.7648
We’re complaining because the prices keep spiking due to manipulation. We realize we can get this stuff by “playing the game”. If a specific item spike 1g in less than a month, there’s a problem. Because now we have to “play the game” twice as long to get something on the TP or be forced to play the game in a specific manner. Whether it’s grinding Sparks in Malchors, CoE, or gambling as you just pointed out.
For the record, I need 76 charged lodestones left to finish Sunrise all of which I have farmed on my own. I have 120g in gold, 340g total if I sold my investments, but there’s no way in hell I’d pay a single gold for Charged Lodestones at this ridiculous price that keeps rising 5-10 silver a day due to both supply and demand as well as “buy order wall” manipulation. What’s not fair is I am having to farm twice the amount to get one Lodestone than what it was 2 weeks ago.
The problem isn’t even legendaries. People ALWAYS associate this product to legendaries… the two that are popular. No, there are 8 NON-LEGENDARY POPULAR recipes, two of which require much more than any legendary (Mjolnir + Infinite Light). What does not make sense is your medium-casual player should be able to obtain these in a reasonable amount of time playing 2-3 hours a day if that.
But due to the lack of any reasonable drop rates coupled by the blatant price spiking the goal moves more and more forward. Meanwhile other Lodestones are plentiful whether it’s because there’s mobs for it or the dungeon associated with it is much more popular or there aren’t 8 billion awesome recipes using it.
(edited by ArkisTruefire.1746)
I guess someone REALLY wants those lodestones willing to pay 35 silver above average price. cough Buy order wall cough.
I fully expect orders to come in above 3.41g and slowly rise up as well as orders around 3.40g coming in!
Seems Charged Cores are getting similar treatment. I expect them to be up at 1.50g tomorrow. But hey, what goes up must come down eventually… right? lol…
gw2spidy is down but somebody just went and bought up 400+ Onyx Lodestons as well as a majority of Onyx Cores to raise the prices up.
Lol definitely not trying to raise their prices like Silver Doubloons and Charged Lodestones! It’s just supply and demand right?
They are now slowly being released back into the market at a higher price. When I first realized it, it was at 70 on the market, now there are 127. Highest offer for 2 Onyx right now is 1.90g. Good stuff! (Not really.)
But seriously, playing the TP is cool and all in my book, needed for this TP minigame… the root problem is when a certain item is so hard to obtain that this type of trading becomes a problem.
Though, we’ll see if this actually does anything because Onyx Lodestones are farmed quite a lot.
(edited by ArkisTruefire.1746)
>Arkis
Major tip – Charged Lodestones don’t just drop from Dungeons. If you know which dynamic event spawns the right enemy that drops them, all you have to do is not completed said event, and they’ll keep spawning over and over and over (and we’re not talking about something that’s broken).
Yup! They drop from sparks, the Lyssa event has plenty of them. Cursed shore also opens up some after the Gate of Arah event is complete. I’m sure there are a few more (Dwayna event opens quite a fair amount up) and some I haven’t researched.
But I’d rather run something that isn’t tedious. Pretty sure most people would too. Hence why they go to dungeons. And therefore, yes the demand outweighs the supply.
>Balance is in the eye of the beholder. My guild knows the perfect spot to farm Charged Lodestones. We can get 1 to 5 per hour (with MF gear of course).
I can sell you all you need directly if you want. I’ll do 1 silver cheaper than TP.
By Odgen’s hammer, what savings!
I want to send you Gold for having one of the best replies I’ve ever seen.
But to get back to the topic, Legendary reqs are only unbalanced because of
1) the desire of the player population to have certain Legendaries
2) the lack of knowledge of where to farm for certain matsAll you need is for one of the above to change, and the prices fall.
Right. Your two points are pretty obvious, but not entirely accurate for Charged Lodestones. It’s not that there’s lack of knowledge and it’s not just legendaries. People know where these drop. Just like people know where Molten and Onyx drop. There are spots sure, but that doesn’t change the rate at which they drop. The least grindy option which most people go for and most people do are dungeons.
This is the reason why even though someone bought a ton of Onyx a few days ago, is slowly going back down in price and why Molten is consistently lower in price.
Secondly, for demand, it’s not just legendaries that these are used for.
Take a look at:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Charged_Lodestone
They are used for Gift of Light: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Light which has 5 weapons that people want. One of which is legendary.
Gift of Lightning: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Lightning another two weapons. One of which is a legendary. Mjolnir itself costs another additional 250 charged lodestones.
And then there’s a not so popular legendary: Meteorlogicus which uses it for the Gift of Weather.
So you have 5 non-legendaries high in demand with one using more than twice the amount of this material. Three legendaries one of which is high in demand. Compared to other lodestones, the quantity of recipes FAR outweighs any of them.
But couple that with CoE, a dungeon that is long and to the more casual crowd, hard. Nobody wants to do it. A quick look at http://gw2lfg.com/lfgs and you will see that CoF and TA have twice the number if not more of LFGs/LFMs than CoE.
Personally, I think this is flawed and will most likely be dealt with soon. What I want is not Charged Lodestones to necessary go down in price. I want the lodestones to be more fair to obtain. Either other lodestones will get more recipes (likely) that people want or CoE will be made more worth people’s time to do or there will just be more obvious places introduced for these.
Simply: it shouldn’t be the case that Charged Lodestones cost 3x the amount of most lodestones. Unbalanced is unbalanced, not necessary always in the eye of the beholder. In this case, it’s unbalanced in both number of highly demanded recipes (and recipes in general) as well as the dungeon it primarily drops from.
And for the record, this is pretty much the only thing I need for my Sunrise atm so no I’m not impatient =). I have the cash (310g) to get them all now, but I refuse to pay the ludicrous price that they are now and would rather wait on it and start funding a second legendary.
Thanks for the 1 silver bargain deal, but I’d rather farm them via CoE runs or wait until something is done about it
(edited by ArkisTruefire.1746)
Lol anyone try to craft gift of light recently?
Seems pretty unbalanced to me that Gift of Sunrise costs more than Gift of FORTUNE at the moment. (300g for gift of light + price of ori/metals + sigil + 100g icy stones)?
Not to mention Charged Lodestones are harder to come by than any T6 material. 10 runs of CoE yielded 2 chaged cores 1 lodestones. Farming this is hilarious.
Guess I’ll have to go back to power-trading for the other half of my lodestones instead of actually playing the game =).
Personally I think these holiday recipes might require charged lodestones.
At the very same time, Onyx stones also rose up in price as well as Charged cores. There is a very clear “spike”.
Onyx stones remained and are still rising. Both Lodestones and Cores are now elevated in price as a result of that. This is definitely manipulation to some extent. It’s happened to many items.
Not too hard to buy up everything after stocking up lodestones at 1.70g when fractals first hit with a profit at 2g. Especially if to your point, it reached its point where there were only a few left in supply… say 8-12 between 2.9g and 3.5g. Buying those up then selling around the elevated prices and getting a fair profit depending on how many you had. Some of the pro-traders actually have this much cash to shell out to make a few gold like this fast.
The market did correct itself right away and the people probably lost money on Charged Lodestones/Cores. It is however still elevated more than usual. Most likely they actually lost cash on this one. Onyx stones on the other hand are now completely elevated. This has already happened with some of the doubloons in another thread in the BLTC where someone openly admits to it.
But regardless of whether it is or not manipulation, the supply of these lodestones, especially that of Charged ones, is just too scarce. They already tried to address this by making them drop in fractals, but it just is not enough.
I will re-iterate a lot of cool looking skins require these lodestones that aren’t even legendaries. Either they need to be upgraded to ascended status or their requirements need to be lowered or, the best solution of all, areas they drop in need to be expanded.
i have had lodestones start dropping quite regurlarly in fractals of late.. That is all types of them as well and cores also..
That’s good and all but there should be alternatives than just fractals. I’ve done quite a few fractal runs and have gotten one Molten Lodestone in that time. RNG is RNG sadly.
Either the drop rate should probably increase or things light the lightening hammer are going to cost more than a few legendaries for a while. Doesn’t quite make much sense IMO. Bad for the game if a more casual-oriented goal(IMO) is so hard to obtain.
The problem is CoE. It’s not rewarding for the time and difficulty. I run it every now and then but I never expect to profit going in especially any cores/lodestones; the only thing I expect is to get tokens toward my armor. True I have fun, more fun than any dungeon TBH due to how the events are set up, but the long fights coupled with the difficulty level and the amount of deaths for PuGs is probably keeping most people away. Either the dungeon needs a perk to go to it so we can get more charged stones on the market or difficulty needs to be scaled down. Hopefully it’s more of the former and less of the latter.
The reason why Molten Lodestones are so much less is because CoF has 2 fairly easy paths with awesome armor that everyone wants and so everyone runs it. A lot of people also run TA for Onyx.
Over the past week alone I keep seeing the prices climb. Meanwhile other lodestones are barely climbing (with the except of Onyx and even that is slowly climbing in comparison).
Overall, I think Lodestones or at least the Core version of them need to drop more frequently.
edit looks like someone is also trying to manipulate the market:

As of this edit the prices went up to 3.50g per with the next one as 3.90g.
Looks like Onyx is getting a beating too lol:

Guess prices will be up for a while.

If you’re implying fractals is a good source of Charged Lodestones, I would have to disagree with you due to the varied number of stones you can get to drop from it. That and coupled with the fact that people don’t do CoE while doing fractals is making it hard to find this component.
Agreed the amount of QQing is insane. It’s no wonder less and less designers want to communicate. All the rage all the time. Just look at the crafting forums and the DE forums. It’s surprising the dungeon forum still has a designer that talks.
Anyway what I think the mod meant was that they were trying to see if people were having “good luck with drops with the current state of [bad/bugged] drop rates” rather than everyone in this thread having bad luck =P.
And you’re correct Astraea, this is completely a supply issue. But knowing that, they should have bumped up the salvage rate of ectos or drop rate of rares to negate this effect. The same is true of T6 materials across the board. Again, if I were to come back to a game where ectos were suddenly 1 gold on a two week break without investing my gold, I’d be kind of frustrated and probably lose some motivation to play.
Easing people in and a slower climb would have probably been better and we would have less of this whining about grind and inflation.
Right Astraea, that would be the best thing to do. That or invest in a high valued material that will always be high valued (more risky). However, again, these are casuals were talking about who just want to log on and get their cool exotic weapon (not even a legendary) or full exotics.
The problem is really the SPEED at which this happened. If I went on vacation for one week, I should not see ectos climb 10 silver. Which is what just happened: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19721
I think the problem isn’t that they were too cheap. What should have happened was a slower ban process to make it so people get “eased” into this. You couple this is the ascended item’s requirements and you get an aggravated market where a bunch of people who used to play literally 3 weeks ago, come back and see the price of ectos/materials/etc. double, triple, or go up even more than that and it really does make people feel like they’ve lost a lot of progress.
Bots were a problem. Banning them was the correct thing to do. Banning them all and causing all supply to go away in 2-3 days then releasing ascended gear withint a small time period might not have been the best idea for returning players. I don’t mind this, but I can see why a lot of people (guildies of mine especially) come back after playing their CoD, Halo, and AC3 for a few weeks to a totally different TP game where they suddenly feel like their cash is worth a lot less.

What’s funny is, people who took a break for 3-4 weeks and come back used to think 30-40g was a lot. Now 30-40g is nothing and what money they’ve gained has devalued so much in so little time instead of feeling rich, they feel and ARE much more poor. Coupled with the sudden decrease in supplies in a lot of items like lodestones and T5/T6 mats and thus increase in price, they feel even less rich.
Thankfully I’ve been playing the tradepost game for a couple of weeks and speculated on good price spikes, but my friends who took a small break werre not so lucky. Sucks to be them and I’m sure this is happening to more and more people, especially casuals. One of them even logged on for a day, saw the prices, nobody farming in Orr, and then logged off and never came back on. I was sad.

Last night I decided to do some Owain(I think that’s her name) DE while farming Karkas. I had just finished my Ori runs and barely played… I got all whites for one hour of farming. This was at full MF armor, boost, and banner.
I just wanted to see if this was all just people panicking, but I think this is actually a bug. I am going to do another hour+ hour of farming without any MF to see what is causing this (broken DR, broken MF, etc.).
Or perhaps leave the respawn time as, and just add additional “quest chains” on current quests that take players all throughout the map!
How many quests does plinx have now currently like 5 or 6? How about increasing it to say 10-15 or 15-20 that take the group throughout the map. Then have 2 or 3 of these types of quests per map.
This x10. Maybe even extend it to trigger across zones =P. I had always thought this was how DEs were going to work. Plinx starts out at Malchors. Then gets to Cursed Shore. Then his chain starts leading you into tunnels, Jorfast and splits at Arah and Grenth. And make it so that finishing the whole event yields more and more rewards. Or maybe even up the karma/exp/money rewards as you finish more related DEs in the chain.
Makes people go into multiple zones, make it more rewarding to do the whole thing, make this into an awesome community-based raid.
This is what I want when I log on and have only an hour to play and don’t want to deal with dungeons.
I’ve always wondered why they didn’t do crazy DE chains leading up to dragon fights. It just seems to obvious but shrug I suppose implementation is always harder than saying it on a forum.
Honestly someone is probably buying them all in hopes of raising their prices. Someone already tried that in another thread on the BLTC forums with the very same item.
I wrote a lengthy post but then my internet acted up and I lost it all.
In short:
-This is a bad trend to have for a casual/semi-casual oriented skin. I can’t speak for the developers but this to me is a medium-length goal. It doesn’t even have ascended stats.
-Not everyone can get a legendary, so people should be able to have goals that aren’t on the scale of a legendary grind-wise. 700g is a grind. No matter how you put it, it’s unhealthy.
-GW2Spidy shows Onyx and all other Lodestones around the same price as each other meanwhile Charged Lodestones are 50% more and sometimes more.
-Reason for Charged Lodestones price difference is not the fact that they’re rare (it might very well be), but it’s the fact that the prime Dungeon they drop from (CoE) is long, unrewarding, and hard. The risk(time risk) vs. reward is not there. Meanwhile places like TA and CoF are run a lot and the lodestones are priced as such.
-There is some demand for this, more than most lodestones, but I think it definitely comes down to the lack of supply due to the above bullet.
-Robert H. implied that they will be improving loot in harder dungeons like CoE which take a lot of time. I see that the prices on these will probably drop in the near future.

Anyone want to get a group together tonight to open Balth?
