Ah yes, the Dredge Suit Boss.
I fought that boss already in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
“Revolutionary design” everybody!

He reminded me of the Foe Reaper 5000 boss from Warcraft’s Deadmines dungeon.

And the “hot foot” condition in the Grawl boss lair reminds me of something from a Warcraft boss fight as well…

There’s also the Asura dude, who’s a poor man’s Thaddeus.
He has the same positive-negative charge thing going on but it.. doesn’t appear to actually do anything.

Since you’re level 11 you don’t know what you’re talking about, do you?

“Eventually” is not the point. The point is I’m forced to facegrind lower levels till I get it, and this is supposed to be against Arenanet’s design philosophy.
Even if I eventually get a ring, what if it doesn’t have the stats I desire? THIS IS WHY THE TOKEN SYSTEM WAS INTRODUCED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

And what kind of reasoning is “I’m at 14 so there’s no problem”.
a) I want to progress higher, without a ring I will likely not be able to.
b) It’s been very painful to play 11 to 14 as it is with no agony resistance, one mistake (I make mistakes, you make mistakes, everybody makes mistakes, don’t pretend we don’t) and I drop dead. This isn’t counting the fights where agony damage is pretty much inevitable. It’s becoming VERY noticable.

@Asagi: I don’t think its too bad. Presumably 14 has a pretty high chance to drop a ring? Sounds like you have been rather unlucky.

Luck was never a factor in GW2 dungeons before. Why must it be now?
Why has logical progression and reward for effort been replaced with facegrinding?

Oh and by the way, I’ve looted every kitten mob I’ve killed. Still no vials.
Don’t patronise us, William of Warcraft. Your progression through random loot system is broken by definition.

This is not a bug. This is a random drop from the daily rewards. The vials also have a chance to randomly drop from every creature in the zones.

So as Azelroth suggested.. Loot everything!

Any further and it likely will kill me. So yes, I very obviously do need it.

QQ some more because you are too ELITE and in too much of a hurry to rush content that you can’t hang around and loot everything..
When i got there i loot everything and have tons of decent drops from there already.
So like i say stop being in so much of a rush and you wont miss stuff. ;p

This is not a bug. This is a random drop from the daily rewards. The vials also have a chance to randomly drop from every creature in the zones.

So as Azelroth suggested.. Loot everything!

I design them on paper, present them in a meeting to some other designers, make adjustments to them based on feedback, build/script it, play it, get feedback on it, adjust based on feedback rinse/repeat until it ships.
Other times someone else builds it based on the designs, but we work together on reacting to feedback and hooking it up in the game.

The meeting about the dolphin section garnered a lot of laughs when I presented it. To be honest I came up with the idea at home after a Rum-and-coke. It got people excited in the meeting, which made it a fun design to work on and get feedback for.

Okay so really, why the sink mechanic?
Isn’t it enough that you can be 2-3 hit as a dolphin and can’t fight back? Why lock our controls for 2 seconds?
Moreover, the sea scorpion thing.. it doesn’t work. It barely distracts them at best, and at worst it actually makes the kraits aggro you.

Now, this has no indication of difficulty, but both swamp and aquatic are easy as heck, and the fastest fractals. Whenever I see them Im more than happy.

That’s twice now this has happened to me.

How many more times am I going to have to grind level 10 to get a kitten ring I need to progress?
Why is it acceptable for some (or just 1) in the party to get it and no one else?
I demand a straight answer, this is constantly being ignored by the devs. I want to know if this is a bug. I want to know if we will be compensated if it is a bug, and I want to know what in god’s name were you thinking if it isn’t a bug.

Can you please clarify what you mean? Because what my theory is; if you get your daily bonus and try for the level 10-11 ascended ring in the same day you won’t get it (due to the glitch/bug)

Did tier 10 immediately after reset today. Got the bonus chest and a bag of gold (again >.<)

I can’t believe this. I’m supposed to be stuck facegrinding level 10 while the lucky others shoot ahead of me?

What, Arenanet? Do you expect my guild and friends to carry me? Do you expect them to do 10 with me while they can do 15+? Do you expect them to tolerate someone who dies repeatedly in every fight?
Do you expect me to just do random pugs till I get it?

Then hell with THAT! This is a level of sheer incompetence beyond what I’d normally expect from you, and believe me I’ve come to expect a lot.

Certainly. The gear treadmill is patently unnecessary, and the agony mechanic actually hurts the dungeon, putting down an artificial and arbitrary barrier that can only be passed with luck.

You may have just finished level 12 with your guardian in full exotics and some ascended gear. I do not want to run level 13 with your new 80 Ele in rares that you suck at playing – An example, not aimed at you specifically.

People are going crazy right now over not being able to progress in FotM because of the randomness of Ascended ring rewards.
But or not, this has revealed itself to be a bad system, the failures of random loot are plain to see. For the first time in GW2 people are being denied progress not because of boss mechanics or anything like that, but due to LUCK.

This is unacceptable. Whole groups are being divided because some get agony resist and some don’t. You cannot make an item a REQUIREMENT to progress and then make it’s acquisition completely random.

The solution is simple, put these items in the vendor. You decide the price as that’s an argument I don’t want to go into here.
Currently, the vendor is next to useless. Sure, the bags are nice (though their gimmick is pointless) and so are the entry level infusions (presumably), but the rest is useless.
15 tokens for a shard I can buy with karma? 1350 tokens for an exotic back item you already made obsolete in the same patch? No thanks.

Placing Ascended gear in the vendor will allow a return to logical progression instead of the random facegrind we’re currently dealing with. Please consider this.

This is a good change indeed. WoW did so many things right, and this was one of them. Or it wouldn’t have 14 million subscribers at one point. So many years down the road, it’s still the most played MMORPG. Case closed. If YOU don’t like it, well that’s YOUR problem.

Sure it’s a grind. It’s a grind with logical progression, with tangible goals and guarantees that the work you put in will give you the items you want.

No, this isn’t a good change. If WoW does so many things right, go play WoW. Stop trying to turn every other MMO out there into WoW.

The RNG has been really “fun” so far. With about same runs all my friends have 2-5 vials while I’m still at zero. Though I got one Molten Core and few Glacier Cores while they get all kind of Lodestones.
RNG is RNG but would hate get blocked because of it.

Here is the biggest problem. Pretty soon people will want to tackle 15-20 Fractals, and those of us unfavoured by the loot genie (or, perhaps, screwed over by bugs) will be left behind.
Guilds are not the universal panacea to this problem. Even the best guild of the friendliest, most understanding, pro players won’t wait forever for someone t catch up.

This is even WORSE than a gear treadmill, for in any given WoW raid it is more likely that someone will get an upgrade and become more useful to the team.
Here, it’s gated content entirely determined by luck.

GW2 implemented account wide features to mitigate the tedium and repetitiveness found in most MMOs. Things were looking great for account versatility when they changed dungeon tokens to be account wide.
Now they do this? It’s illogical.

You can also repeat levels as often as you like. So you can go back and do level 10 over and over until the ring drops for you. This kind of loot system is pretty common in MMO’s.

This is exactly the kind of thing that makes every MMO on the market exactly the same, and what GW2 avoided up until now.

With the old system, there was logical progression, an the feeling that you were always getting closer to your goal as you accumilated tokens.
Facegrinding dungeons for a chance that maybe the gear you want may drop is NOT something I want to see in this game.

My point is it’s unacceptable either way.

If it’s a bug, then it’s shameful that something that screws players over so badly was put into the live build.
If it’s intended, then basically we the players are expected to brute force our way through agony, or remain stuck at an arbitrary level until the random loot genie decides to favour us with the means to resist it. This is, frankly, APPALLING design.

All of the new weapon skins are Account Bound. So you can choose which character to send them to.

There is also a change going into the current chest given exotic armors and weapons that will make them Account Bound and Soulbind on Use. So you can send those extra armors and things you get to your bank for your other characters.

Hey thanks for not addressing any of our actual points.
I suggest you apply for a job at Blizzard, because your design philosophy will only hasten this game’s decline into obscurity. We don’t need it and we don’t want it.

It’s a ridiculous notion. That’s like saying you can use a mesmer to get past the bugged Arah gate, therefore it isn’t broken.
Coming from someone who has beaten her let me tell you: The sparks are bugged. She is bugged. The whole encounter is broken, with one spark too many, Simin not losing her healing buff after coming out of stealth and so on.

Now sure, is it satisfying to beat her despite the broken fight? Yes. Does it take teamwork? Sure.
Does this change the fact that it is BROKEN? No.

Yes, thank you. Thank you for taking the unique, fun system you had and tossing it away in favour of pandering to the WoW gear treadmill crowd.

Thank you for taking the one mmo where we could progress at our own pace and turning it into another loot race.

The reason so many MMOs fail against WoW is because they try to BE WoW. The reason GW1 succeeded is because it was NOT WoW.
Knowing these two things, you now try to turn GW2 into WoW. Do I… even have to explain the level of failure here?

I love how you point out the Sentinels in a veiled insult against anyone who disagrees with you, but don’t point out that you’re helpless if you are actually trapped.
Nor do you mention the Deadeye’s explosive attack, which is as good as a 1 hit kill if other enemies are beating on you.

No, you give one example on one type of fight where YOU personally can survive therefore it’s okay.
This is the kind of dishonestly I am sick of.

Deadeyes are not a problem if you run a tanky build. I agree that dungeons punish glass cannons hard, but there’s an easy solution – don’t run a glass cannon.
I’m not one-shot in Arah on my ele by anything, be it Deadeye or Lupicus, and i’m still over 3k attack.

Do I seriously have to explain the problem of having to run a tanky build for one enemy in one path of one dungeon?
Moreover, I have a tank build guardian with over 2.1k toughness. It will still kill me in one shot. You seem to ignore the fact that other enemies are attacking while the Deadeyes are shooting me.

Say there’s a Deadeye and two or three other mobs. Even if I use “Stand Your Ground”, that Deadeye is likely to knock me back and kill me even if it’s being focused.
This isn’t even mentioning the Sentinels, who can trap you at range.
There is no sense in these difficulty spikes, and this is an undeniable fact.

But of course I know someone will dispute this, because it’s become almost tradition to deny the obvious and mislead Arenanet.
I could use this kind of insane troll logic to claim that the spider hall waypoint in Arah path 2 is working as intended, and the weird spider bite aoe bug is actually a test of skill. After all, I can pass it without dying. It is therefore okay.

Zefiris, your post is proof that fanboys will outright lie in order to protect Arenanet from the truth for reasons best known to yourselves.
The Deadeye knockback does put you in range of their explosive attack, which is pretty much an instant kill. Idiot check? You cannot expect whole teams to suddenly hug a mob, when all other mobs teach you otherwise.
Moreover, what do you do when there are 2 of them?

You’re also missing the point that Deadeyes are sprinkled randomly throughout path 2 and nowhere else, with no rhyme or reason to it. Why does path 2 have overly difficult mobs and all the others nothing of note, aside from Mages and Illusionists which are just annoying?

Stop assuming that everybody who recognises dungeon problems are “zerging” them.
I come from many years of experience in raiding and dungeons in various MMOs. GW2 is not special. It is not “above” other dungeons and raids. It is broken and needs to be fixed, and people like you continuously lying to Arenanet ARE NOT HELPING.

So you counter my assertion that you’re missing the point by… missing the point again.

Let me spell it out for you.
Having to change traits to make yourself more efficient at killing a boss is fine.
Having to change traits because those traits make the boss more likely to kill YOU is not.

This isn’t even getting into how some traits that affect fights like these, such as the necromancer jagged horrors are not interchangeable without a respec.
